This game is underrated. Sure it has its flaws, the escort stuff and the ghosts can be really annoying, but the apartment stuff is brilliant and it is the scariest game in the series. It also has a great villain.

I agree. The first few hours alone are worth the price of admission, very unique kind of game even by today's standards.
Fuck escorts, fuck ghosts when youre trying to explore a level
oh my fucking god dude i got PTSD from that nigger,
silent hill the room was the first horror game i played ( does RE 2 count ?) so it will always have a special place
>finds what she believes to be the exit
>knows that there's a killer out to get her
>also monsters
>instead of running for her life she braves these dangers by backtracking to the announcement microphone
>she does this to tell Henry where the exist is so that he can save himself
>does this knowing it will also give away her exact location to the killer
Cynthia is an underrated girl desu. Or retarded, one of the two.
Too bad she's a classic butterface
Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 were scarily photo realistic for the hardware that they were running on.
The concept of the room gave me nightmares. I miss the ps2 era.
Konami must have had some amazing talent working for them around that time. MGS2 and 3 still hold up as well.
The SH1 FMV scenes were pretty detailed as well.
>the way Lisa blinks when she gets blood in her eyes
>the way her blood pools into her eyelid
I love the plasticy Gen 5/gen 6 CGI videos. When I was young and watched a CG cutscene I thought at some point computers would be so good that we could play them in that quality. And when parasite eve 2 had that opening where it felt like you did, little me knew for certain it would only take a gen or 2 before we would reach that level.
same with rule of rose. I dont know how but in some way they managed to get really detailed textures on the characters.
dont insult my slutfu
A while ago, I had fun extracting some textures from ROR
>hands gets it's own texture
I loved the secret room twist. scared the shit out of me
handchads win agian, suck is footfags
why does heather wear a short skirt with no pantyhose if her legs dont look nice?
emulation guide please?
...
it's the least scary of the series but i still really enjoyed it, moreso than SH3
it's shit so stfu sweaty.
1, 2 and 3 are the only games worth playing and an excellent trilogy.
Bullshit. The Room is absolutely worth playing and it doesn't even interfere with the "trilogy" in any way since it barely relates to the plot of those games. If it bothers you so much, just think of it as 'Silent Hill: Gaiden".

No, its ironically enough overrated. Its bafflingly shitty to the point where even most hardcore silent hill fanatics struggle to play through it even once. Its abhorrent dogshit and the one carrot on the end of the stick is how strong the opening is (and the room in general), how creepy and interesting the story is and how the game gives you just enough visuals and atmosphere to keep you interested even if the gameplay is genuinely abhorrent by the standards of a series where most people say the actual "gameplay" is "bad" on purpose
Truly terrifying
>it's a bad game if you just ignore all these good things about it
you alright m8?
Yes, its an abhorrent game and its actually embarrassing if you think the elements that have nothing to do with being a game would ever excuse it
legit the worst meme there ever is, unironically kys
one of the co writers/director was really good.
so..
>a strong opening (and the room in general)
>how creepy and interesting the story is
>how the game gives you just enough visuals and atmosphere to keep you interested
are elements that have nothing to do with being a game? what games do you play? Pong?
Her legs look nice.
having one ROOM in the game that is creepy doesnt fucking make the actual gameplay not abhorrent to trudge through. The story is creepy and interesting, not even remotely good because of the abhorrent package its a part of and how its delivered to you
What did you feel the first time you played The Room?
Confusion.
>Wait, is this first person?
>I'm not in Silent Hill?
>I need to charge my attacks?
>What inventory space?
>Why won't this old bitch just die?
>This game is underrated
>half of it is an escort mission
No, it's not. If anything it's overrated. A couple of nice touches don't turn something into a hidden gem.
>MGS2
Can't agree on that one. Snake's fish lips haunt me to this day.
How is escorting bad? People seem to just say "ESCORT" as if it's a universally bad thing
it has been done pretty poorly in a great number of games
What is good about having to babysit a bad AI on top of what you yourself already have to deal with?
How can such a thing even be in the game, lol.
The escort is fine, she can't even die. What's shit about it is all the backtracking.
Sure, but she affects your ending.
you can give her the candle to fix her up before the ending
The apartment was pretty much the only decent thing in the game. It was a massive disappointment.
I think I've been playing the game wrong.
not really, its just a trick you have to know. First time I also just jumped in front of her to soak up hits, then later someone told me on Yea Forums you can just use a candle to fix her up before the ending.
Thats one of the main reasons why some people have such bad blood for the game. It fails to really teach you how all the ghost-fighting and escorting mechanics work. Example the game tells you that holy medallions shield you from the headache effect caused by ghosts, but the game fails to tell you that it also causes your weapons to do bonus damage against ghosts, and reflects the headache damage back to the ghosts. So if you simply stand around a ghost with your medallion equipped, they occasionally "kill" themselves without you having to even hit them. Escort tips are the fact candles heal Eileen and she cannot really die.
Also, axe is not the best melee weapon in the game. Shovel is, but shovel is tucked in a secret room accessed by an optional elevator in the first suburb area, so most people miss it.
It depends. People whining about RE4 escort are faggots because they are easy and short segments. Escort segments in SH4 are literally 50% of the game, and the combat is clunky. Eileen cannot die so there is no game over if she gets hit several times, but you will probably get the bad ending if you don't take care of her propperly
What....the hell?
Save 2 candles, use them just before you enter Superintendent's room in the final area. Eileen is fully healed.
But why is Henry's Sacrament wisdom?
Receiver of wisdom. Not just wisdom. He's a blank slate kind of guy, an innocent to the occult, who gets to witness the whole thing and learn about Walter before he gets killed. It fits. Jasper being "Source" is the weird one. It should have been some old cultist instead.
Would you be willing to go through the same horrors henry went through, if that means you get a cute eileen GF?
Sure, I'm only a serial killer away anyway. Fucking NEEThog days are killing me.
At some point she would want to take your virginity though.
Yes. I know. I found it out like 10 years later
is henry a neet?
Probably. You don't go missing for a week or so without anyone noticing if you're going to work.
