Left or Right?
Left or Right?
Right
Soulless vs Soul
I prefer the left.
Right honestly have more soul than left.
Nostalgia-fags btfo, soul exists.
both are equally good, products of their respective ages
definitely one of the very few remakes done right
>remake is overdesigned shit
every fucking time
That's the worst part.
>left is cartoony like a 90's kids show
>right tries to emulate this cartooniness but slaps realism and about 9000 edges and pointless overlapping shit on it
Right, but left is very charming.
>NEW IS BAD!
>OLD IS GOOD!
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
Sir Dan was instagibbed with an arrow to the eye, it doesn't make sense that his armor would have any dents on it.
>THE ARMOR HAS TO BE 100% PRISTINE POLISHED AND SHINY LIKE IN MY JAPANESE ANIMES
>IF YOU DISAGREE YOU'RE A ZOOMER KEK FAGGOT BASEDMALE SEETHE TRANNY REDDITOR
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
The king chose to cover up Sir Dan's embarrassing death, the dents were added later to make the story more believable you absolute lorelet.
the remake Dan look good
Zarok and the zombies look like shit tho
Tarnish makes sense since he's been interned for over 200 years and his body literally rotted away inside the armour. If anything it should be a rusty mess and most hammered armours have small areas that are prone to rust where the smith beat the metal to be thinner, intentional or not.
I agree hat there shouldn't be any obvious axemarks or anything though
LEFT
right is kiddo shit.
Was it really that hard to do it like this?
This is what the original artitsts had in mind.
Your soul spamming ass must be ginger.
He should be cartoony-creepy
not just fucking cartoony for gods sake
The stylised teeth don't work with modern graphics.
Generally true, yes.
Impressive, a remake that actually stays true to the source.
AM I THE ONLY WHO PLAYED THIS BACK THEN HERE OR WHAT?
HE LOOKS DIFFERENT
CRASH REMAKE DESIGN WAS PERFECT NOT THIS ONE!!!!!
CANT YOU SEE? CANT YOU SEE?
WHERE IS THE CREEPINESS IN THE NEW DAN?WHERE? FOR FUCKS SAKE HE COULD BE IN A DISNEY MOVIE
>overdesigned
easily one of the most meaningless buzzwords on this site. the remake's version of sir dan is exactly the same as the original, except in modern graphics instead of rudimentary early 3d.
Unreal shaders are doing the bulk of the pulling on the latter model, and it's not impressive.
>CRASH REMAKE DESIGN WAS PERFECT
If you're a zoomer perhaps, all the designs in the remake are fucked.
Right desune.
You... you ARE AN IDIOT
Im a massive Crash fan and I have suffered for a long time you son of a bitch,Twinsanity was the only decent one sinnce the original trilogy, this remake was the seconnd cominng of GOD , kill yourself .
lol no
hmmm
From that image alone, right. Perfect remaster of the design.
There was never anything creepy about Daniel. What the fuck are you even on about?
Top right is better, bottom left is better.
you're retarded
>Can see the Mausoleum
>Glass Demon is back and not that stupid thing from the PSP version
Yeah, i think they're based.
NO, top left is better because even if it look simplistic, it's more creepy, and that's the point
He was very cutte indeed, especially aafter playinng the games, but that was HIS PERSONALITY,appearance wise he had a creepy-cartoony vibe
Looks good.
It only looks “creepy” because the lighting is fucked, I literally made it brighter by a smidge and it looks cartoony as hell
top left is the product of borderline non-existent draw distance and it looks boring as fuck compared to the remake.
Left
>people ITT definding souless cash-grab remakes like this and Crash/Spyro
The absolute state of Yea Forums
What did they do in the PSP version for the demon?
Are you part of the development team?because this comment is very suspicious.
As someone who bought this when it first came out user I can safely say that the remake is superior concerning the top right image and I'd say it's even spookier due to the church in the background acting like a lighthouse, drawing you in.
the only reason top left looks like that is because the hardware couldn't handle draw distance
NOT because it looked creepy, you're making shit up.
Im the mad user fag, yeah the atmosphere is there , I just dont like the characters.
youtube.com
Also that voice is from a muslim imp following Dan.
Not to mention that showing the Mausoleum makes the first levels much more cohesive
Is anyone else concerned about the framerate in the trailers?
youtube.com
low poly is so much easier to make creepy/disturbing
I still remember those monsters coming out of the wall in the demo of medievil 2 scaring me shitless as a kid
Fuck guys it looks so good... Im still mad tthe characters are so cartoony, it could have been a childhood dream come true.
youtube.com
>overdesigned
are you literally retarded?
You literally have no idea what overdesigned means if you think right is overdesigned.
Neither really.
Medieval wasn't that good of a game when it came to be completely honest.
"overdesigned" means "REEEEEE, IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE CALARTS!!!"
LMAO,there was nothing remotely similar in the ps2 era so I had to come back to 1 and 2 on a yearly basis.
Fucking zoomoids...
Not really, latest footage is pretty good.
Why is a muslim imp following Dan?
I think the limited draw distance in games actually did them a favor...
>pitch darkness and silhouettes, WHAT THE FUCK IS OUT THERE?
>now
>magic bright purple sky disneyland
There's literally no reason for them not to keep the absolutely kino ost from Resurrection, so it better be fucking in there.
youtube.com
>mfw the og theme kicks in the final quarter of the track
We all know it was a technical thing, but the way it was used was a design choice. In this case, they used the poor draw distance to make the thing spookier. The problem isn't technology, but design. The remake isn't as creepy, it feels too colorful.
>looks boring
typical zoomer speaking
who cares you bought it first, I played it on my ps1 too, so what? Lighthouses aren't scary, and having played both, no, I can objectively say the old one had a better atmosphere. The obvious idea was to combine cartoonish characters with a spooky environment. New one looks cartoonish all the way.
Cause they thought i'd be funny i guess? Also replaced Hall of Heroes with a greek-themed one for some reason.
It didn't make it spookier, you just got lost and annoyed. The only creepy level of Medieval was the town.
Right stays pretty faithful to the design/silhouette, unlike most remakes and sequels. I'll say right.
Fuck finally another BASED like me
>zoomoids
I was like 16 when it came out dude. There where quite a few games that just did the Medieval formula better and where more interesting games like Brave Fencer Musashi, and 40 winks.
Retts saying this is "overdesigned are dumbasses, the reason why left looks like left is because of system hardware limitation so devs had to work with little polygon count and simple textures.
If medievel was made back then with no limitations, the game would look far more overdesigned than the shit armor you see on that picture.
The reason why games back then were cartoony is because it was easier to convey models in a cartoony way because of the limitation.
Looks great and better than the original, but there's always retards trying to sound like they are oldschool by being negative and that the remake somehow hurts their memories
This shit happened with Spyro and Crash, they were great remaks of the original but there's always contrarians.
How different is the PS1 version from the PSP? Are they both worth playing? And is the new re-make on PS4 based on the PS1 or PSP version?
No,not all thats why Medievil is a widely beloved classic
>We all know it was a technical thing, but the way it was used was a design choice.
no it wasn't. you're grasping at straws to rationalize your nostalgia.
Apparently they're working with the original composers so it should be good.
the remake is based on the ps1 version, the devs were even given access to the original game's source code.
why did they go out of their way to make it more cartoony?
According to this this "remake" is gonna be a 1:1 recreation of the original PS1 game (and if the vid is anything to go by it's REALLY close). The only improvement the PSP version had was the soundtrack but it had some other stupid additions/alterations.
It was always cartoony, technical limitations forced it to look “creepy” by default
it was always cartoony.
They work together with some of the original team and they have access to the original code and even the comments they had on it. If something's changed is cause the original team wanted it back then but couldn't do it cause of limitations.
>looks fun
>amazing graphics
>the levels have literally the same layout(good)
>but fucked up character design
it IS a design choice, retard, they could have masked that "black wall" with lots of stuff. They could have had fixed cameras, a smaller graveyard, or just a brighter static image. They actively chose black fog, because it suits the theme perfectly. Just like they chose fog in Silent Hill, making it one of it's more prominent features.
really?
then it really was a product of its time I guess...
Unreal engine is awful as fuck
is MediEvil good?
nostalgiafags should an hero
VERY
Its timeless desu.
It's a game about a skeleton that comes back from the grave to fight all sorts of Halloween creatures... are you really implying the thing wasn't trying to be spooky? How retarded can someone be?
the psp version is an abomination and the team behind it should be shot into the sun
So we’re already moving on from overanalyzing the limitations of the first Spyro games to picking this apart?
Right one is even more cartoony, what are you on about? Left is still better though
Withholding judgment until I actually play it.
A skeleton who in the intro cinematic dies to a random arrow and this is such an embarrassment that the king hides it and pretends he died slaying Zarok and saved Gallowmere. And by the accounts of the people in the hall of heroes, he was always kind of a goof.
all this shit is coming from zoomers pretending to be boomers. if devs had been able to make the original games look like the remakes in the '90s, they absolutely would have. what people call "soul" was really just the games straining against the severe limitations of early 3d hardware.
both statements are true.
It was kid spooky not real spooky
I think your glasses maybe a little too rose tinted.
The PS1 has some amazing games and I love going back and playing shit like One, Vigilante 8, silent bomber, trap gunner, LAPD future cop all them shits.
Your just a fucking sony cock sucker this game was bland as fuck even back in 1998.
I take the word spooky as kid spooky
That they're willing to put their interpretation of Stained Glass Demon against the original before the game's out is a nice show of confidence. That's not a boss you can afford to fuck up.
It was always some clunky shit, the only appeal was the setting
>It took a random Medievil fan to start a twitter campaign for a few months for it to actually work
Im not a fucking cuck If you attack one of my favorite childhood games I will respond back, you are an idiot, all of those games were good but Medievil was better.
where are all these Medievil haters coming from?
they fucked up his face
I like it for being different, but I wish it was translucent.
this is Yea Forumsintendogaf. of course they hate sony's kino.
>"im not a fucking cuck"
>i said "fucking sony cock sucker"
Kinda defensive about something I didn't even say to be honest. Really makes yeah think huh?
Your favorite childhood game is not anything special, you can continue to enjoy it but your silly to think it was anything else then slightly above average at best.
The setting was great but the enemy/weapon variety and stage design is also solid. Controls and camera weren't the smoothest, sure, but it was always a well designed game.
why remake games when you can revive the series?
>remake runs at 30fps
I'll just play the original ffs.
>wtf!!!! why is everything so clean, it's supposed to be dark and gritty like the original
>wtf!!!!! why is his armor so dark and gritty, it's supposed to be clean
die teen
this
shenmue also looks ugly because of unreal engine
any other engine would have been better with the game's style
Nostalgia is a safer bet.
Cause they're testing the waters i guess, it IS an almost-20-yo franchise after all.
>it IS a design choice, retard, they could have masked that "black wall" with lots of stuff.
This is their previous game.
youtube.com
It was not a design decision.
Anyone think the uncanny valley amount of detail draws too much detail to how weird Dan's skull is?
This game was actually kinda lit though ultimately kinda a shit ball game.
I love it for all the wrong and right reasons though cheetor is my nigga.
>Having space as a background because of the black wall
yeah, not a design choice at all
remakes are a safe way to test the waters on reviving the series. with remakes, you're giving older fans something you already know they like, while also making sure that newcomers don't feel like they've missed anything crucial.
I feel exactly the same way. Except cheetor is a nerd and Megatron is where it's at you buffoon.
