holy shit the combat is terrible.
Holy shit the combat is terrible
As much as I like the whole " hurdur Henry isn't trained in swordplay so he can't use a sword" it really bothers me that basic functions of the combat system are locked away until like 2 hours into the game.
git gud
Skyrim is so much better.
The fact that you go from useless dunce with a blade to Sword Saint Henry after 15 minutes of training makes it feel completely ridiculous too. The moment you learn the master counter attacks the rest of the combat system becomes unnecessary
Look , someone who has a retarded opinion .
Maybe being the bastard of Sir Radzig gave him some of that master swordsman genetics.
"In this game we simulate the life of a medival Bohemian peasant. You aren't anyone special, just a regular guy that has to survive in this dangerous world
also ur the son of a prominent noble who arms and trains you lol"
You need to be 18 to play video games. It' s a new law.
you are terrible at it, combat is great.
you sucks
you learn that 60 hours later after starting the game.
Gay
Yeah it has flaws but it's not outright terrible.
I like how helmets make the whole difference.
>have plate helmet but look like a fag so wear swag hat instead when in town
>get ambushed by peasant thugs with pitchforks and stone hammers
>get thomped into my head, die
Also when fighting Runt:
>everyone crying on youtube the fight is too hard
>Runt has no helmet, overhead thump into his head with my sword
>duel over in two seconds, cutscene plays
My biggest gripe:
>fighting against groups - no freeform because you're always locked onto someone
>no defense against master parries, if enemy has high defense you're just fucked
>stealth is very fun but could be so much more
Shut the fuck up casual
why?
Spend 40 hours playing the game, then come back here after you have Stockholm syndrome and start to love how fucking shit the combat is.
"Life, that's a constant problem solving. The more problems you solve, the better man you become."
>ftw never had a father&son moment
I started the game on hardcore right from the beginning. My only complaints are this:
There is no position marker. I spend hours riding around looking for the right town to do quests. The cities are not memorable, and despite 100 hours in I really dont know the name of towns or any iconic features that makes me say "Aha, thats Seyda Neen/Balmora" etc
I havent seen a single road sign, so its really unenjoyable riding around. Sometimes I ride my horse for 2 hours looking for the right town, and then I come back where i started. I get that its hardcore, but can I atleast see which region I am?
There is no real identifying areas, sadly. Compared to Gothic, or Morrowind where you instantly recognize where you are.
Also the game kinda jumped the shark whenit was revealed you were that nobles son, I enjoy blank slates
Yea it really is. The problem with combat systems like this one or M&B's is that they focus entirely on the freedom of movement, which in theory is nice, but in reality just means that both parties are swinging their swords around awkwardly from one end to another.
It looks like early VR shit without being VR.
Not to mention that it doesn't get reaction time right. Due to the focus on the freedom, aka the awkward swinging into position, they forfeit the quick reaction time fighters used to have. This is something that one button combat games focus on. And there's a reason why the latter is more popular.
Also, the combat in this game wants to be exploitet(just like M&B "coincidentally"). The tutorial makes it seem as if you're supposed to try hard to make perfect counters and blocks and be a really good swordfighter. But in reality every dirty peasant picking up a pitchfork is making perfect counters against you until the stamina runs out.
But if you use whatever weapon you have like a club and just bash them in relentlessly, suddenly you win every encounter even when outnumbered. ITs ridiculously broken. Even worse once you unlock perfect ripostes and a block with your sword means a free hit to the enemy.
Combat is the same as lockpicking in this game. Something that seems overdesigned and clunky, until you realize that if you turn the whole thing around and do the opposite of what the game tells you, its actually really fucking easy and broken. Like in lockpicking the tutorial tells you to keep the ball steady, yet thats not important at all. That thing can jump around like a bitch on a fuckmachine before it actually breaks. If you just keep turning quick enough you unlock every lock.
Shit game, shit combat. OP is right, but "muh immersion" incels keep seething because they want it to be real.
This game is garbage and if you like it you should feel bad
>holy shit the combat is terrible.
Nah, it's fine.
It's only bad if you fight multiple enemies. Which is like 80% of the time.
The biggest flaw is the thieving shit
>Get caught
>Cant kill the witness because guards are omniscient, cant run away, cant do jackshit
>All it needs is one minor fuck up to get locked out of a city or pay a fine
When your eloquence and charisma are high enough, you can talk your way out. I got there at 60% of the main quest.
You're still given constant preferential treatment, armed, and trained in combat by a professional man at arms.
Oh boy, it's another baby who tried to fight the cumans in the first 30 minutes of the game and got bodied because he's playing as a peasant who can barely hold a sword and now he's blaming the game's combat system because he hasn't realized he has to train his swordsman skills at a trainer.
Helmets are for fags
Git gud, zoomie.
The melee combat is terrible
My advice is to pick up a bow early on and level that ranged skill
Even at melee range you can drop a nigger by shooting him in the face and hit and run attacks work well in this game
