I legitimately want a new hobby that isn't video games.
This medium has lost its way and is exacerbated by the social issues forcing their way in as much as possible.
Also a lot of games suck.

Pick up reading and exercising.
Make games.
Buy broken handhelds and then fix them
Sell them for 3x the price
Do I have to learn to solder?
this, also just avoid games released post 2010 and you will find quality shit much more often
Start cycling. It's fun.
But it's HOOOOOOOOOT.
Write (or remix/arrange) music.
Pick up a book, faggot
It's OK friend. I believe in you. Just stop following news about games from multi-billion dollar companies or just stop buying them altogether. I'm sure you'll find something new and fun.
>cycling
*laughs* What a meme!
You're not helping me discover what I should transition my interests into, though, you're just offering pleasantries.
Forgive me friend, I never intended to make fun of your situation.
Go sailing.
Post bp
Collect and play retro games?
Try rape.
I recommend Cooking and getting into a type of Science
Just find something that looks cool and do research if you find it interesting, I'm a CS major but I enjoy biology on the side
Start drawing, start playing an instrument, pirate a DAW with some vsts and and sample libraries, use Blender or pirate Maya and various plugins for it that professionals use, along with Houdini and Substance products, and then start learning how to program and make a game or short films.
Yes
But I'm terrible at that.
Just gotta stick to Japanese games normalfags avoid.
RIP Fire Emblem.
read a book
get into having sex
Pretty much everything in this world takes practice to be good at. You'd better get used to it.
If the only reason you want out is that you don't like how vidya are nowadays, you can just get into dev.
Pretty sure that's illegal.
Then you're on the wrong board.
anime is a hobby. try model kits, gunpla is easy to get into. FA Girls if you like cute girls. no need to limit yourself to video games
Build gundam models. They can take upwards of 30 hours to complete and are half the price if game in most cases
(a 1/144 scale RG will have around 230-300 pieces and will stand between 5-7 inches tall at a price point if $25 to $35)
The first one you make will be absolute ass but make sure you keep it and never attempt to touch it up so you have tangible evidence of you skills improving
I live in a metropolitan area and 95% of the people are dudes on bikes. Gay AF.
Then go find a other hobby.
Get out.
gundamind
????????
I recommend either writing down every game you think is worth playing on a list (they're out there I know for a fact that you haven't played every good game between now and 1980) and then playing them or if you do pick a different hobby, don't overthink just pick one and stick with it for a week or two, and if you don't like it, repeat the process.
Here's a good series of tutorials for C++ gamedev. You'll need to be somewhat familiar with the language first but just google shit and you're already halfway there. I personally learned C before going right into C++. lazyfoo.net
>thinking Yea Forums is a haven for game lovers
It is a gay hobby intended for gays.
Shouldn't you get this guy started on classic Scale models as they are cheaper and more accessible so he can see if he enjoys losing and stepping on the small parts as well as fucking up the painting?
Planes are easier to access with brushes but propellers and glass canopy are easy to fuck up while tanks can, depending on the model and kit, have super annoying tracks and threads.
Personally I would say you should start with something like a Sherman, Panzer 4 or T-34 in 1/72 scale.
If you enjoy you can go and invest into an airbrush
gundpla is super easy and doesn't require any glue and hell you don't even need to pain them if you're not into that.
just like breathing
just don't wear onsies like these turboautists
city cycling is for faggots or people who just don't want to buy a car. biking on some trails for fun is pretty rad
I just bought a skateboard from a local skate shop along with some Van's and Supras. I recommend getting into skating, it's fun and challenging as hell and gets you a surprising amount of positive attention. People will just start talking to me the moment they see my board. Now I just need to learn how to ollie...
Same with Swimming too.
Play board games, it's fun.
...
Oh look, it's a "DAE not play videogames" thread. Never seen one of those before.
2 people at work have been hit by vehicles while cycling
don't pick up this shitty hobby
or if you are out to kill yourself pick up base jumping since its fucking rad
then dont fucking ride your bike on the streets like wat
>Can't ruin a good build by overdoing it with the glue and getting it everywhere
whats the point of scale modeling if you don't get motivated, start a build, ruin it, try to power through anyway, break/lose an important piece, completely lose all motivation, lay in bed lamenting your lack of craftsmanship talent, leave the model on your desk half finished for several weeks telling yourself that you will fix it tomorrow until you take the model and put it into some drawer telling yourself that you will come back to once you have gathered the experience and a few months later start another model with high hopes only to repeat the cycle over again?
reddit-tier joke aside, if gunplas are as you say they are, then maybe it is a better place to start, I just thought that they would be harder to get as you have to import them, at least where I live, while you can find plane/tank kits even in kids toy stores.
This. Become a pirate OP.
Starting with a gundam kit is typically less expensive than starting with tank modeling, just going by price off entry for supplies when starting out
>HG Revive RX78-2 ($16)
>10-piece chink tool set with nippers, tweezers, an x-acto, a file, and some sanding sticks ($9)
>Tamiya black panel line accent ($14)
vs
>Trumpeter 1/72 Sherman ($13)
>10-piece chink tool set with nippers, tweezers, an x-acto, a file, and some sanding sticks ($9)
>Tamiya plastic cement ($5)
>Tamiya light gray surface primer can ($12)
>Tamiya Olive Drab can ($9)
>Tamiya black panel line accent ($14)
>3M Respirator and cartridges (~$20 depending on what model you get)
Keep in mind this is little jimmy's first model, so something that snaps together and comes premolded in the right colors is a little more straightforward than painting up a tank your first time. All the same techniques used in tank modeling can be applied to gunpla as well, but let the dude start out with something a little more simple first.
>This medium has lost its way
Play more obscure shit. There's so much out there beyond big AAA games.
>and is exacerbated by the social issues forcing their way in as much as possible
There's no possible way to get angry about or even notice this shit if you're not going out of your way looking for it
I'm with this user.
Reading is inexpensive and exercising can be whatever you want. You can go hard and get /fit/ or nice and light to blow off some steam.
OH NO POOR ME I'M SO TIRED OF GAMING I NEED TO MAKE THREADS DAILY BECAUSE I CAN'T THINK FOR MYSELF PLEASE GIVE ME ATTENTION
