Now, I can absolutely understand normal people replaying games frequently, and even going for good times. But when we're talking about actual "speedrunning" where someone is retrying a game over and over and over and over, getting everything frame-perfect, and spending an ungodly amount of time focused on this one insignificant thing, that's clearly signs of some sort of mental issue. Speedrunning is trying to perfect an exact sequence through endless repetition, there's not a lot of in-run problem solving or deviations to what you do for most speedrunning. Trying to find glitches can be a less autistic aspect of speed running but it seems like things are automatically discovered by looking at how the game is programmed or bugs and glitches that are accidentally discovered.
Any kind of multiplayer should realistically vary every match or game. You have to problem solve because the challenge, skill, or strategy you face should be different every time.

Perhaps one conductor wants the allegro section to be just a bit faster, or one wants to slow it down a bit. Another may want to have the dynamics changed a bit, or any number of things. This is to say nothing about the musicians themselves who put their emotions into the music, and all have their own stylistic choices that they can make.

It's because Speedrunning requires no creativity or consistency compared to e-sports/competitive pvp gaming or whatever you want to call it.
New route developments happen maybe once a month, usually rarer, and getting records is all about trying again and again until you get a good run or some RNG factors go your way. It doesn't matter if you need 8000 attempts to get that record, you're the best now that you have it.
When you're grinding runs you don't have to adapt from run to run in the slightest. Compare that to a competitive game where even if your opening build/strategy/positioning is the same the match will develop in a different way every time. Speedrunning is essentially deterministic, that's why humans will never beat a TAS.
So if you like autistically repeating the same thing over and over until everything goes your way then speedrunning is for you.

100% agree. There are studies I cannot be fucked to find that show that plastic water bottles can leech oestrogenic chemicals into the water inside.
