Megaman 5 and Megaman X4

Just play 2. 2 is by far the easiest game and most iconic too.

I found 4 and 6 way easier than 5. As far as the X games go, the first feels pretty easy at this point. But then, I played it through like a dozen times.

5's charge shot is the most broken in the series and the bulk of boss patterns are absolutely braindead. Yes, they hit like a tank but then you just don't get hit and shoot like half a dozen charge shots back. 5 is a hilariously imbalanced game that's made all the easier for it.

megaman 8

X5 is the easiest. X4 isn't hard except for the end bosses. Megaman Powered Up is pretty easy too, and so is MM1

I never managed to beat Ligma as Zero as a kid

jump jump!

X4 is easy and just as good as X1.

Also avoid the Mega Man Zero series, it will kick your ass so hard it's not even funny

metal blade

Sugma*

Zero is the best series though.

6 is easy, 5's Robot Master stages are easy but the castles are a brutal difficulty spike.

Zero's fine if it's not your first rodeo. I'd definitely play at least half the X games before taking that one on.

Mega Man Zero is the Devil May Cry of the mainline series.

Sure, OP says he's a beginner to the series though. Zero will just make him hate it as early as Aztec Falcon

And what's that supposed to mean

>MM1 is easy
lol no, it may be short, but Fireman, Iceman, Elecman and the Wily stages are a pain in the ass, also you have no saves and no E-Tanks.

Probably the emphasis on reward through ranking.

MM5 hands out 1ups like coupons for some reason. You can start MM3 with 9 Energy Tanks by using Red A-6 as a starting password. MM2GB is dead easy but sucks. MM10 has an Easy Mode and the easiest setting on MM11 has INFINITE LIVES.
Choose accordingly.

Classic 6 is pathetically easy

X1 and X4 are both easy and good starting points.

FPBP both are great starting entries to the series although starting with 5 might make it hard to go back to the earlier games since its significantly easier than the rest except maybe 4

Wily stages in MM3 are stupidly easy for some reason, but the Doc Robot stages are pretty hard, like... there's no way you could beat these robots without knowing their weaknesses.

>whats the easiest mainline Mega Man game
A lot of people will probably say MM2, but I think that MM6 is likely easier to start with. It has all the abilities you expect from a most of the classic Mega Man series (charge and slide) and doesn't include the bullshit instakill bits like Heat Man's disappearing block bullshit and Quick Man's everything. Sure, Metal Blade can fuck shit up, but that doesn't help with the above and new players are just going to burn through all its weapon energy.

>counting X games too
Oh, then Mega Man X1 for certain. No contest there.

MM5 feels a lot like classic Mega Man, expert mode. It's a game that seems to challenge how well you can play Mega Man games, and is more something I'd recommend when somebody has played the classic series quite a bit. Certainly not something I'd recommend as a first game.

MMX4 is good. Not as good as MMX1, but it certainly has a lot more content.

Powered Up

2 is prooobably the easiest classic game to start with, but it's still got a lot of warts, like says. MM6 is probably easier to start with.

All of the classic games except for the original aren't that hard. 2 is probably the easiest(even on "hard" mode) but suffers from some dumb design choices in the Wily Castle.

Wait I thought 2 was supposed to be hard? Granted on my playthrough only Air Man's shitty stage and Bubble Man's spike ceiling has really given me toruble.

Heat Man and Quick Man's stages are trial and error, unless you have Item 2 and the Flash stopper. There's also the Boobeam trap, which is more tedious than Yellow Devil in 1, imo

It's the easiest outside of those, but if you want a smoother experience with a standard level progression then 6 is most likely your guy.
