How many games and consoles have you owned? Id have to say ive played about 200 games and owned 6 consoles ranging from a number genres my dream is to one day own a gaming collection once i get a high paying job
Dick measure competition
I've got basically every mainstream (and several obscure) consoles, some nice broadcast monitors, and a modchip/flash cart for each system.
I've owned thousands over my life and could not even begin to list them all. Some I never played or owned for only a day or two.
About 350 games.
Systems:
NES, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Switch, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PC Engine Core, PC Engine GT, Game Boy, GBA SP (NES edition), DS Lite, DSi, 3DS, Xbox, two Xbox 360s (one Japanese, one US), PSP, PS Vita, PSTV
>Game consoles owned (but not all at one time)
9 consoles not counting duplicates
4.5 handhelds
>Game total
I have no idea. I pretty much stay exclusively to platformers, but ff7 got me into rpgs recently so I've been expanding my "collection" with some of those recently.
>Gamer dream
To own a sega genesis (model 1 specifically) with some games. Never grew up with the genesis, never actually seen one before (not even flea markets) but I've always loved the genesis compilation discs on ps2/ps3 as a kid, so that alone has made me interested in the genesis. Wouldn't play it much, just having it to display would be good enough. Small/inexpensive dream but eh, why not.
Samefag here,
Make that 10 consoles. I keep forgetting I have a dreamcast sitting right in front of the tv. I should really buy some games for that thing.
If you're getting a Genesis, get a model 1 or 2. Model 3 was notorious for worst sound quality. Even if it's just for display, may as well get one of the better codpiece models.
Or just burn them. Shit plays without a mod of any kind. I'd recommend Bangai-O, Border Down, and Mars Matrix.
at this point, it doesn't mean jack shit how much you own, but how much of the shit you buy you actually play to completion
Yeah, I've heard meh things about model 3.
I plan to get a model 1 for a few reasons
A) It's the most iconic one, and what comes to mind first when I think "Genesis"
B) From what I've read, the model 2 doesn't work with the sega cd without having to cut some plastic to make it fit. I may not get the 32x/cd, but just incase I do it's better to be safe rather than sorry.
I think if i had a game console/library like that the most it would become is just something for display or at least something i could leave with my kids. I stupidly put some money into buying digital copies for a lot of games so i think if i start my collection im gonna give my games away to family and start from scratch considering most of the games i own are cheap anyway btw do they still make physical copies for pc games
Or that. I got my model from gamestop sorry and I was surprised to find out the model was old enough to read burned discs. Haven't gave it a shot yet though since you always know where empty cds are until you need them.
Model 2 will work with the Sega CD attachment designated for it. That's the one I got. But yeah, you're correct, Model 1 ("high definition graphics") is the iconic one. 32X is a waste, there's a very small handful of decent games like Chaotix and Kolibri. At least Sega CD had some semblance of a library. Considering the 2nd-hand market, though, you're better off just pirating/ emulating. For Sega CD, I'd suggest Robo Aleste, Lords of Thunder, and Silpheed. There's also the Ecco games, but I personally liked the Genesis versions' soundtracks more.
I think that only really applies to steam since most console owners i know usually play their games unless they are old as fuck
name one (1) guy with a shelf like that who actually plays all the games he buys and doesn't just parade them on social media for brownie points
>Model 2 will work with the Sega CD attachment designated for it
Ah, wasn't aware there was a cd made specifically for model 2s.
>32X is a waste, there's a very small handful of decent games like Chaotix and Kolibri
True, but the 32x will mainly be there so I can have a supped up genesis with the cd/32x both attached to it. The main genesis/cd will probably be what most of the games will be for.
Not the guy you're replying to, but I had a shindig last weekend, 90's game themed, and we dragged out at least 20 of 'em for some good times. ( here)
>13 consoles
>~250 physical games last time I counted
>Another 300 digitally
I've mostly given up on digital games though
Gotcha. May as well go full Tower of Babel mode. (Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, a Game Genie or something, then top it off with Sonic 3 & Knuckles. (optionally, more of "& Knuckles & Knuckles")
Haven’t added my PS3 and 360 games yet but I’m sitting on somewhere around 300 physical games. I don’t have disc games and switch displayed on a shelf because my media center has slide out shelves that work pretty well for storage.
Random question, what app is that? Looks neat.

I like the &knuckles & knuckles idea lol.
May grab an & knuckles cart whenever I see them at flea markets and just slowly build the tower.
Every Nintendo, Sega, Xbox, and Sony console as well as a few others. I estimate at least 500 physical games. I don't actually have the room for it all right now.
It’s called Gameye, it’s pretty handy. It’s got a collection and wishlist tracker, bases prices off of pricecharter so you can check while you’re hunting around. I like it but I wish it had some kind of profile set up so you could send your collection to friends if you ever wanted to trade or something.
Oh, that sounds really handy to have on hand then.
Thanks user!
Np, np
I have finished 237 games (tried hundreds more) and I own 12 gaming consoles.
I own four copies of donkey Kong 64 and I plan on buying more.
