Except 3 is objectively superior to the original English release and cutting three substories means nothing when it introduces 20ish new substories we never had period, all the pre-order content is available for everyone, you have the cabaret plus hostess maker when neither were in the original, mahjong, shogi, an entire retranslation by the looks of things, and probably more I'm not thinking of.
4 only swaps out Tanimura's actor and voice for someone else's because of the controversy surrounding him and he's out of the entertainment industry so they never would have been able to get him back even if they wanted to. If you're going to get mad about this then you better also be mad about Judgment replacing Hamura. If anything this is a good thing because it means he can actually return to the series instead of being a black sheep never spoken about again. Outside of this the hostesses are a mix of original and some from 3. That's pretty much it.
5's only change was also the hostesses if I remember right. If anything 5's would be superior just because they would bother to translate the things they missed on the digital copy.
To top it off all of this is at 1080p/1440p 60 FPS solid when the originals are below 720p outside of 5 running at 30 with drops. They even uncensored certain lines from characters in 3, specifically Riona.

6, K2, and Judgment have Pro enhancements by default, I think 6 was the only one at 4k, I remember reading Judgment was at 1080p still on 4k mode? Not sure how accurate that is.

I knew from the first moment he was on screen and didn't flinch at all and seemed to be smiling slightly.

3 iterates on Kenzan so enemies still block a lot which is something you need to get used to.
4 improved a lot on it and it feels a lot more like the modern games.
5 experiments a bit with the characters and various mechanics but it's very solid.

Phase 1 you want to stay away. As long as he hasn't grabbed your phone the majority of attacks will just be attempts at your phone. If you keep away he will sometimes throw grenades, if you wait until he's almost primed the grenade and then start up a Flux Fissure you'll super armor the grenade and land a fully power FF on him before having enough time to run away from the explosion.
Phase 2 you want to chug a Rejuvination Extract and go into the style he is. Once he starts his high damage projectiles go into EX Burst and start wailing on him however you feel like, get off as many variants of Heat Actions as you can during this time to deal the most damage you can. The projectiles give you a bunch of Heat and deal next to no damage as long as you're in the style he's in, you die in two hits if not.
Phase 3 is phase 2 but now he takes chip damage unless you're opposite the style to him. The idea here is to stay in EX Burst, wait for him to style change, start up a combo in the opposite style to him, and abuse the fact that invincibility doesn't run out until your final attack of a combo meaning you can get to the final part of a combo, then switch to the style he's in. The problem you're going to run into here is sometimes he will have projectiles up in both styles and you get sniped during the style change no matter what.

Y6 runs at 1440p 30fps in 4K mode on Pro but drops frames like a motherfucker and has screentearing.
In 1080p mode it has no screen tearing and runs stable 30fps.
On regular PS4 (as in, not Pro) it runs at 900p with same screentearing and framedrop issues as 1440p on Pro.

For K2 and Judgement they removed the 1440p entirely, instead in "4K" mode it just renders in 1080p 30 FPS while regular PS4/Non-4K mode renders in 900p

I was looking for it obsessively since forever so it was just as much for myself as for others.

It's a lot of fun but I would argue that playing it as intended (i.e. on the assumption that you've played the others) might enhance the experience. On the other hand, nothing in the plot really has much wider relevance to the series outside of fleshing out some backstories so it's not a terrible place to start.

I really liked Y6 too. I think it told a good story about what family is, which is always what Yakuza has been about. Yes it's somewhat disappointing that the last guy Kiryu faces is some desk jockey but it's a fun ride from beginning to end. I don't understand why people say the combat is bad, it'll never not be amusing to grab some chinpira by his heel and fucking giant swing him into all his buddies so they fall into the harbor.

Well Rockstar made the same mistake but not licensing the music in their older games indefinitely.

I thought it was decent but I think it had the same problems than Y3 which is a console gen change so they had to spend more time on dealing with that rather than having interesting moveset/setpieces/substories/etc.
It really shows when you compare Y6 to Kiwami 2 but then again that's just what I felt.

NOBODY does "indefinite" contracts in Japan, literally nobody.
It straight up doesn't exist in their industry because it's not a good deal for an actor/musician to sign such contract.
Old contract expired so they can't use him anymore, simple as that.
It's also why the remaster removed 5 out of 10 original hostesses.
Original Y3 had 10, 3 in Ryukyu, 6 in Kamurocho and last one was a bonus queen for doing all other ones.
In the remaster, there's only 5 + 2 are copypasted from Kiwami 2 for a total of 7 (3 in ryukyu, 3 in kamurocho and last one is the queen).

I unironically liked the final boss thematically but think he was poor from a gameplay perspective.
He works great as this game's foil to Kiryu as the son of a gangster whose father didn't want him to join the Yakuza. And he contrasts well against the other villains by being the first one for whom Kiryu shows a lack of respect, and even a hatred. The fight is really easy which allows you to feel Kiryu's anger and the difference in their power (the man vs the little baby), but as THE final boss it's a bit shitty to not give us a proper challenge.
And yes the combat throughout 6 is fucking joyous.

That's the one thing I was actually expecting and looking forward to ever since Kiryu himself said he wouldn't mind being a host in Kiwami 1 during his conversation with Goromin.

Location and its sidequests are gone, 3+ hours side quest story about Kiryu working as a host is gone, club management tycoon game is cut and replaced with a bare bones cabaret from 0-6.
Also a lot of side missions are either cut or simplified into one.

Slots and pachinko are the most boring games in the world. Cho Han is also pretty fucking close there, it's literally play pretend slot roulette you just have to guess odd or even.

Kiwami has the weird style shit from 0, which makes no sense, and locks Kiryu's real moveset behind a series of "le wacky random majima" fights meant to pander to people coming from 0.
Kiwami 2 has fucked a lot of things. The music is changed but if you're on PC there's a mod to fix that. No mod to replace all the lost content though. Similar problem with style chronology where Kiryu has his fighting style from 10 years in the future.

It's not a third but it's pretty bad, the games still worth playing for fans but K2 is like the most overrated game in the series.
The game just feels like it was made based on fan requests, more Majiima, bring back the hostess stuff from 0, more silly side quests, make Yakuza 6 combat more like the older titles and a lot of it's just not that well handled.

People really love the story of 2 but after playing Kiwami 2 I was kinda scratching my head. The story is marginally better than 1 but you still have a big dumb villain who fights because... fighting, the fucking gold castle, and you have the badass "Yakuza Buster" be damselled almost immediately

Only thing worse than the story of 2/Kiwami 2 is how the writers change in 3 just disappears Yayoi Dojima, and puts Kaoru on a plane to America where she is then promptly forgotten about. I know it's a general problem with this series that characters tend to disappear without a trace between games but that's by far the worst.

It's very rare in this franchise that they actually build up the main antagonist properly, or that they don't ruin the ending by making an old fat guy the real villain. 2 does that as well but it swerves at just the right minute to save it from the brink by giving you that final elevator fight with Ryuji.

Kenzan does it the worst of them all. The whole game builds up to Musashi VS Kojiro and its one of the best boss fights in the franchise. And then you have to do a dungeon gauntlet where you kill four sumo ninjas. And then you fight the actual final boss, who is a fat 70 year old man with a gun who blows poison dust in your face and runs around a giant rock in circles trying to heal why you slash him to pieces for five minutes. Ishin learned from that mistake, you get the gauntlet first, then the great final boss fight, and then when the real villain shows up it's just a cutscene where you immediately kill him.

Still kinda baffles me that they made the final fight so much easier in K2.
I remember spending almost 3 hours trying to kick his ass but he just kept tanking everything and i had no healing items left. I also got instakilled by the final QTE even though i was expecting it by pressing the wrong button.

playing 3 right now and fuck is the combat better than K2 just because hard is legit hard, it's nice to have enemies that aren't trying to take damage.
Fucking solidated my view of 3 being far better than 4.

You said pseudo tank control were what made Y1's combat. You then gave glowing testimony about the quality of Y1's absolutely dismal combat. Your point about the comparison with K1 is absolutely correct, I'm insulting you for praising Yakuza 1's combat engine.

The blocking in 3 is just way too tedious for me. I prefer the enemies doing way more damage, like how in the coliseum the high end fighters can melt your health bar in a single combo. I'd rather being punished for fucking up and getting hit than attack the same enemy for three times longer than on lower difficulties, not because he had more health but because half my attacks didn't mean shit. Not to mention it made timed stuff like IF fights a colossal pain.

3's definitely underrated though, and the semblance of actual difficulty is a part of why it should be more highly regarded. I like how Tiger Dropping always incurs a bit of damage in 3, the trade off for a last second counter is you get slightly nicked where the safer Komaki Parry leaves you unharmed but does way less damage.

I apologise if I communicated that poorly, but you've not gotten the message. I don't think Y1 has great combat. I think it's serviceable and is cohesively designed but I'd take basically any game in the series over it. And yes, the controls and its limitations literally ARE what makes the combat; the rest of the design is built around them.
