Console TF2 is actually now the only way you can play TF2 in the same graphical splendor it was praised for.

Weird ports are a blessing. I remember this one also RE2 on n64. good times.

Or you could just get a lightwarp texture mod from gamebanana to do the same thing

honestly simon's a cool dude he's just pretty JUST tier

This is how I played through HL2

Man they really sucked the life out of TF2. It's those small details that matter, and they ruined the graphics and animations so it could run smoother for those with crappy PCs.

I played this port

I remember on the prison level Alyx duplicated herself, so there were 2 Alyxes following me around. Then when alyx fucks off to do her own thing elsewhere the duplicate alyx kept following me and not saying a word.

Then when she followed me into the next loading area, her eyes were ghost white with no pupils (probably because alyx was not originally intended to be there so not all textures loaded I guess)

Creepy shit, man

>and they ruined the graphics and animations so it could run smoother for those with crappy PCs.
Actually it runs way the fuck worse than back in the day, because of cosmetics.

Most of the changes (like sapper not leaving debris or simplified weapon animations) are also likely due to cosmetics. (not having to program in different debris for different sapper replacements, etc)

pics or didn't happen

the power of Sorse grafics

Dude, this was back in fucking like 2005, I don't have screencaps

But I did find a post from some guy who also had a duplicate Alyx on the same level

Best gameboy game reporting in

Attached: metal-gear-solid-cover.cover_large.jpg (320x320, 51K)

Found out something for this port last time I played it. In the Nova Prospket level if you bring one of the turrets from the turret defense section with you to the portal where you Eli and Alyx warp out, the turret will immediately fire upon Eli killing him as he's brought over to the portal.

The game then just stops.

Can confirm

Happened to my friend and he was happy about it because he was having trouble in that level

That's not a weird port tho

Best port

>OLD TF2 WAS BETTER BEFORE VALVE RUINED IT WITH HATS AND BROKEN ITEMS
>*console servers are dead*
The weirdest part was that consoles still had the inventory and loadout system, but it never got updated with new items.

There aren't any settlements east of Diamond City, immersion ruined

There was a jpn release of it too, yet no USA
youtube.com/watch?v=CYI8p2p7HKs
I don't think there's even a dump of this version anywhere.

Actually some PS3 TF2 servers are still up thanks to some dudes at EA

I played this port. It ran bad and missed the episodes but the novelty kept me playing.

Its really ironic how the console version of TF2 has become the true way to play it now.

What was the idea behind changing weapons giving ammo to dropping ammo boxes, again?

So that you could pick up dropped weapons if usable by your class. Like if you're a Soldier carrying a Direct Hit and find a dropped Black Box from another dead Soldier, you could swap the Direct Hit for the Black Box.

NDS and GBA have a lot of weird ports back then

>not MC2

Damn the hours I've put in this game port, fuck those were the times
Also the CD came in a blue back CD which blew my mind as a kid

That happens in PC too.

unreleased, but still pretty weird

I just wish I could become a kid again

people paid a monthly subscription and still got advertisements?

My 1st experience playing through the game when I bought it at launch might as well have been this version. At the time I had a single core celeron with an Nvidia MX4000 the PCI version not AGP. It was playable on all low settings but I got mad hitching anytime there was more than a few objects with physics going on because my CPU would just shit itself. Thankfully I had just gotten into PC gaming at the time and had no idea about the concept of framerates or was as sensitive to it as I am now.

RE2 is not so much a weird port as it is a miracle and technical achievement just due to the sheer amount of compression required to fit two CDs on a single cartridge. Honestly it's not even an awful way to play the game the cutscenes look like shit and the audio quality is bad but it was the 1st time you could remove tank controls and the 3D models look far superior to the PS1 version at the cost of lower quality pre-rendered backgrounds.

It's an impressive port, I'll probably play this version for my annual playthrough. Doom 3 on Xbox was the real miracle port, though.

There would be if you'd finish fapping.

>EA
Wait what

am I supposed to know who that is

EA ported the game. Portal 2 was the first PS3 game Valve handled.

It runs and controls like shit unfortunately. Not a surprise it wasn't released.

not even close.
Those are low poly c_models.
I'm not even sure if the old models are still in the base game.

>tfw no white eyed demon alyx to follow you around Nova Prospekt

Attached: wo.jpg (240x250, 12K)

I only know this exists because of the online play, and how it was ruined when PC players figured out how to join the games.

Unless I'm thinking of Quake 3 on the dreamcast.

Confirmed from his twitter, newcancer.

This actually isn't that far out for a source game. If you did somehow get two alex's. Thered probably be one stuck somewhere looking at something, and the other alyx following you is stuck looking at that same thing. Which means her eyes will bug out and go white.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say dreamcast, because I don't think console mulitplayer existed before the dreamcast.

which is funny because a lot of people credit that to xbox live.

aw nuts

Attached: 1412305637767.png (255x235, 87K)

Or, people were just playing DC Q3 with the Dreamcast mouse and keyboard

Attached: 130824[1].jpg (500x500, 95K)

the dlc characters for this game were absolutely bizarre
>football manager guy?
>total war shogun guy
>danica patrick
>wreck it ralph
>team fortress 2
>fucking yogscast

EA published it. And its true, the PS3 servers are still up. A small community has started to emerge as of recent.

Saturn did have some online play. It actually still works if you use direct dial.
