Don't. I get to the 2nd disc and quit every time. The most fun I had was playing the card game according to a guide to get some great shit early on to make you op, and I love being overpowered in games, and it was so boring after finally getting to "play the game"

- you don't HAVE to draw magic endlessly or grind Triple Triad. Just play it like you want. Don't worry about optimizing.
- junctioning is much simpler than most seem to think
- all enemies AND bosses scale to your average level

The remastered Squall looks more like he does in cutscenes, to be fair.

Do you have any other tips about the general game beyond those points? I played up to the Galbadian prison the last time I got into FFVIII. In particular, about handling GFs, but I'll take anything.

Yes, because this is the first and only FF remaster that doesn't have shitty new menus/fonts, awful remixed or completely changed music, terrible character models that look nothing like the original characters, or anything like that. (Squall looks a little weird but it's nothing compared to Tidus in the FFX remaster, who looks bogpilled beyond repair.) It actually looks faithful and well done and I want to support that. Of course I'm going to wait and see for sure before I buy it though because we haven't seen everything yet... It could be worse than it looks.

Use a guide to find out which bosses to junction guardian forces from. Most of them aren't useful to attack with, but their abilities that they learn are important for junctioning, among other things.
