I just beat this game for the first time and holy shit, it was incredible. Great pacing, fun as fuck combat, cheesy but lovable dialogue, tons of customization, and great atmosphere. 10/10, would recommend.
Also, RE4 thread.

This is still one of the best games of all time.

Glad you enjoyed it, OP. This game was, and is, great.

Good game overall, but probably would be considered too goofy if it was released now.

And not horror.

Sorry OP, we can't have genuine discussion threads like this anymore. If you don't fill the board with "le epin shitpost" under 6.738.923 layers of post-irony and don't reply with the programmed pavlovian posts like "have sex", "incel", "cope", "/pol/", then you are not a true "channer".
Also, you should post and bump the biggest amount of twitter screencaps and idpol drama if you want to "le fit in".

Dude comes out of an oven on fire and rushes you screaming. It had its moments.

The attache case is gay, has always been gay and the real time inventory of RE5 was better. The village chapters of RE4 are still top tier though. Castle (barring the mines) and island can fuck off though.

based retard

1.You get obvious audio cues from enemies showing their position and the camera was barley an issue at all.
2. A lot of the tension and great enemy encounters in the game comes from how you have to manage your position and resources effectively and not waste as much ammo as you can. Not to mention that most enemies come at you slowly so this isn’t even worth discussing.
3. Trying to adjust and manage the cache case is a part of the gameplay itself and can make the difference between life and death in an encounter.
4. Yeah, those are there, but they’re not as annoying and prevalent as I thought they would be.
5. Ashley is actually a smartly designed escort NPC. She’ll duck out of the way of your gunfire, you can command her to stay where she is to put her out of harm’s way, hide her in dumpsters and crap to keep her out of the fighting, and actually brings a lot to the table in how you have to focus on keeping both her and yourself alive.
I beat this game for the first time and even I know this much. Why don’t you?

UN FORASTERO

Retard.

Who cares, it's a good action FPS game.

Best game
Leon with jacket is some if the best character design ever
The game still holds up today. Fucking nuts

Regenerators are the scariest thing ive ever experienced in vidya. Even after knowing how to beat them they still creep me out

RE4 Ada > REmake2 Ada

Castle was great for most of it.
Island is weird and the only semi shitty part of the game

one of my favorite things is how the gameplay keeps getting better the more you master it. Techniques like grouping enemies up with kicks, stun locking them with knives, using their AI and pathing to put them in vulnerable positions are all so satisfying. Every time you clear a level, you realize that there are routes or techniques to use to make it even more efficient

It really reminds me of games like Bayonetta where its so satisfying clearing a stage as best as possible, but knowing you can still do better

I thought shooting them in the legs at first would stop them completely but as it turns out I couldn’t have been any more wrong when they started to tear my neck out.

Yeah, that was what I loved about it. At first, I was way in over my head and didn’t know shit but as I got through the game some more and got better guns and upgrades, it became more and more fun for me. I love game design like that.

So, how would you guys feel if they were to announce an RE4 remake?

>Pacing
Mediocre.

>Fun as fuck combat
Lackluster.

>Cheesy but lovable dialogue
Completely different kind of cheesy than the classics and was literally a walking parody rather than light hearted moments.

>tons of customization
Basic weapon upgrades and attachments.

>Great Atmosphere
Literal textures that look like they were slapped on from google images with Tomb Raider 1 lighting, that is unless of course you played the gamecube version or remaster which admittedly looks far superior.

My take on the games positives however would be:
Best inventory system to date (make it so key items count as actual inventory items though) also item box + RE0 drop system.
Some great design, the castle looked great but the game had pretty shit visuals for the time assuming you did the PS2 version.
Points/money system for unlocks was interesting, I'd just wish they implemented it without the literal merchant NPC.
Some fantastic tracks.
Boss idea's are the only time the combat is noteworthy, and is when it shines in anyway.
Even though I don't approve its a nice attention to detail that the villagers literally tell you their strategy in a way. (If you know Spanish).
The island is the best showcase of combat against regular enemies, rest of the game in that sense is trash.

Biggest con?
Clearly rushed game with lots of scrapped ideas and potential.

Good if they finished it and pursed the original ideas mixing the best of all in the franchise.

Adrenaline to the max when trying to kill them the first time.

Shit game kek.

It's coming eventually i think.
i haven't played it since the PS2 release i think and if they did it i would probably buy it day 1. It was my favorite thing on the gamecube but after all these years, I want to play it again and master it. I was going to get it for the ps4 since it was on sale but idk if it's a shit port or not so im holding out until i research more
Can any anons tell me if the PS4 version is okay?

This is hands down the worst opinion ive ever seen on board. Not even going to comment on it, except the visuals.
It came out first on the gamecube and looked miles and miles better than any other game at the time. Literally no one debated that.
Your opinions are bad and you should feel bad

Fucking love this game; fuck the cum drinkers who say otherwise. The faggots talking shit need to go back to gamefaqs.

castle > village > island shit

Attached: ccd.jpg (285x326, 15K)

I'm not going to even bother, RE4 fags are what ruined gaming anyway by blindly praising shit instead of actually mentioning what was truly good about the game, RE4 is nothing special no matter how you put it.

I gave the combat praise in its own right, not my fault if the game fails to use it to the fullest constantly.
Yet again, rushed as fuck game.

OP here again. Now I’m thinking of trying out the other RE games. Currently have REmake on my backlog and planning on starting it soon. Anything to take note of?

Based. Now enjoy re-purchasing it over and over in the coming years like the rest of us dumb fucks but the game is THAT good.

Attached: 1548696526816.png (651x798, 714K)

I feel like I'm the only person who liked all three areas.

>Anything to take note of?
Don't expect a shooter.

>Clearly rushed game with lots of scrapped ideas and potential
This is like a 15 hour game that's consistently throwing new ideas at the player until the end credits. I think you need your head checked.

Yeah, I’m aware of that. I know that RE4 was where the series started to get more action-heavy so I like to keep an open mind when it comes to the older games.

Revisiting it for the first time in years, maybe 2/3rds of the way through. The house defense section in 2-2 and the horde battle in 3-1 that you have to carry Ashley around for continue to suck copious amounts of dick, but otherwise it's pretty solid.

I beat it on Wii and Gamecube in the past but I finally bought it on Switch. I've never NG+'d it, though.

RE4 is my favourite game of all time so I'd obviously be somewhat excited and intrigued at the prospect, but I don't think it needs it. Modern games are still taking cues from it, so in that sense it still feels pretty relevant and it gets ported to every system anyway. Some visual touch ups like that PC mod that's coming out would be appreciated though.
Think of REmake as a slow paced horror Metroidvania. Avoid enemies as much as possible and try to plan ahead in terms of managing your inventory. Also leave a spot or two open at all times in case you need to pick up some key items.

boo fucking hoo

NG+ is fun. I'd say give it a go, especially since you have the Switch version. Obviously you breeze through the game pretty easily, but it's cool to curb stomp through it.

The ones before RE4 are nothing like RE4 and the ones after RE4 aren't as good for the most part. I personally like Revelations 1 a lot but I'm in the minority on that one so don't get too psyched up about it, I'm just weird. But do try REmake, and if you like the kind of game it is but still wish it played a bit closer to RE4 then give RE2make a spin.

Stupid bitch, the GC version is the only one that matters. You dare say the visuals sucked when it was the best and still expect anyone to respect your opinion lol

>Pacing: mediocre.
>Best inventory system to date
>assuming you did the PS2 version.

Some major red flags in this post.

keep posting this in every re4 thread, faggot.

Now that the dust has settled, what went right?

Sheva and Wesker. Not much else, though. Co-op was a blight on the franchise.

That was another thing I loved about it. The escalation just kept getting bigger and bigger and it was a constant thrill ride at the end game.
Also, Mike deserved better.

Just Wesker and the graphics. Shit still looks good to this day.

Because that user has never played it.

The island part left a bad taste in my mouth, especially since it kept CTDing on a specific part and had to get a trainer to skip it. But otherwise i fuckin loved it.

Yes, OoT, RE4, and BB are the games of the gen and everyone knows this

Wesker
GLOBAL SATURATION
Music

It's a decent co-op game, but that's about it.

it had its moments

>The attache case is gay
Talk about gay opinion.

The controversy was the best part. Literally is what started all of this ACCEPT ME IM NOT A NIGGER bullshit. RE5 caused the revolution of human rights because of how SEETHED nigz got at the trailers.

>it's okay to shoot mexican zombos
>it's okay to shoot asian zombos
>It's NOT OKAY to shoot nig zombos REEEEEEEEE

This also ruined RE5 and fuck niggers

Zoom zoom

You’re right hand comes off?

>people enjoying old games for the first time is bad

It goes from pretty white knuckle to full on action movie. Other Resident Evils are equally stupid, but 4 knows it

It's 14 years old

The castle itself is ok except that giant moving statue. I just think the cultists and the blind enemy are fucking silly. The dog maze, the flying bugs and verdugo are all great though
Literally braindead if you enjoy shuffling around 2x1 (and the occasionally large gun) rectangles. Having to constantly pause to switch betweens weapons grenades and health kills any flow

good post

Zoomers wouldn't like RE4, zoomer

This game needs to be made in VR, it's the only port we are missing.

Lmfao is there just not a game of the gen for ps3/360?

What happened to RE?

As someone who has RE4 as one of their favorite all time games, if not number one, I'd want them to develop RE3.5 further. RE4 is practically perfect as it is, a remake could be an opportunity to deliver that kickass looking hookman/fog version.

Went through an identity crisis but now it's refound its footing.

Fpbp

yet again, your stupid as fuck

Came here to post this.

It's fun but it killed not only the RE franchise but also survival horror itself, so I resent it for that.

>sheva ruining anything

Only for about a decade or so, RE's been solidly recorrecting its course since RE7 and there were still some alright horror games in the interim like Dementium and Fatal Frame 4.

>your stupid as fuck

Attached: 1564898886866.jpg (327x344, 15K)

>RE's been solidly recorrecting its course since RE7
>Auto saves
>unlimited saves
>item pickup prompts
>magic pills that reveal hidden items
>shit "puzzles"
>cringe writing with tons of F-bombs
>literal walking sim and run/hide sections
>shit enemies
>DLC outta ass
>zero replayability which is horrific for re
You proceed through the house in a very linear, pre-determined way, with no variation of any sort on later playthroughs. You are also funneled to the save rooms, and the game also uses automatic checkpoint saves on almost each door. There's no mapping out the environment, figuring out the most effective and safest routes to destination, no nothing. It's like a middle-school festival's cardboard & bubblegum mimickry of RE1's mansion AT BEST.
Combat is nerfed to hell, part thanks to the idiotic VR focus, part because modern gamers are casual morons who'd literally just want to disable enemies entirely. They wobble towards you slooowly, stop in front of your face, then start their slooow telegraphing of incoming attack... which you can almost completely block with your puny hands. Rinse and repeat.
And what about "the spooks"? Oogabooga, ugly fag yelling at your screen! This is soo spooky in VR!!
Really, the only thing it has going for it is that it's not REimagining 2.

As always, the first post is the best post.

>Auto saves
>unlimited saves

Stopped reading there, at least play the game on Madhouse.

bump

they're all equally stupid

This.

New Vegas is the missing one here

>those legs
Goddamn.

Choose.

Attached: Red 9 v.s. Blacktail.png (308x406, 170K)

I liked them for different reasons, but I still enjoyed them all.

Red 9 for me, personally.

Sheva and Wesker. His dialogue is so over the top, its great. I have fond memories demolishing this game with a friend on co-op.

I've seen this hundreds of times and it still baffles me. This has to be the single most stupid sequence of bullshit ever committed to video.

Attached: 1566309614386.jpg (740x419, 49K)

red 9 best gun in the game

But they're not even shooting at each other..

What is this fabricated bullshit? I like max Payne but this is seriously a pathetic post.

Blacktail awalys

Ew I'm getting second hand embarrassment from watching this baffling choreo

I kinda feel the opposite about the attache case "killing flow" because while it takes longer real time the change is essentially instant "in-game," like you don't have to see your guy switch weapons or heal themselves

The real pace breaker is RE5's healing having overindulgent amounts of i frames

bump

I'm pretty sure you have to beat the game on normal first to unlock it. madhouse still features dynamic difficulty just like REimagining 2

Just recently there was a thread with a rookie who'd spent THREE HOURS running around the mansion, at the very beginning of the game, without finding the very first save room with the item box. His inventory was apparently full of shit, and he'd ran out of ammo ages ago.

These are the plebs Crapcom is appealing to nowadays.

Literally how?

Then beat the game on normal. RE4 also has dynamic difficulty. I didn't say the games fully unfucked themselves, RE7 still had a ways to go and RE2make is much closer to getting it down. But compared to the shitshows that were RE5 and RE6, they are indeed solidly on the path to unfucking the series.

>RE3 Remake maybe in 3 years
>Next up is RE4

They will fuck it up, almost sure of it, I mean how you can remake an already perfect game.

By giving it RE6's controls and combat pacing. RE6's problem was that the game proper was bad, as an action game its mechanics are FAR superior to 4's and, aside from the occasional moment like the invisible insects or the first regenerator encounter, 4 doesn't really do much to actually feel like a classic RE game. To that end, double down and shape it up into an even better action game since that's mostly what it is.

The entirety of RE4 Village section did not give a Classic RE vibe for sure, but dam right close they were or even surpass it.

As for the Castle/Island sections of the game are what inspired RE5/6, I don't disagree with you fully because I partially liked RE6, but I think giving the Remake RE2 Remake control during the Village section then moving to RE6 control during the Island section would work best.
