This port is fucking great I can’t wait for the full release
Dragon quest

but Yea Forums told me the switch couldn't run it???
Good to hear
It runs but its pretty blurry and the textures are subpar.
Multiple people have posted screenshots in another thread and it always looks like this.
Some people find it still ok, others not.
Here's another taken by me.
Also, the blurriness is worse in motion than on the screenshot so keep this in mind. I'd wait for some youtube footage.
And this is handheld mind you. I'm not sure how it looks docked.
>handheld captures
i'd argue that the docked resolution isn't much worse than base ps4, but npcs/grass/flowers pop in way too close
like if you walk slightly to the left of those flowers they're gone
Hopefully they patch it into PC.
Playing in 21:9 is just too good.
It looks fine in docked, but why is it so blurry in handheld? I thought handheld should be a sharper image usually as like in other games on the switch. Only other game that had this issue was xenoblade 2, although that looked much worse in handheld
I agree but
>21:9
utterly retarded
It does look blurrier but the art style lends itself to still looking good
>21:9
I too like to imagine I am viewing my games through a letter box
>played it in its definitive form a year ago
Why didn’t you?
Handheld mode in any game runs at a lower resolution so the Switch doesn't use more battery/run hotter than it needs to. Certain graphical settings can also change between docked and handheld mode.
All the extra shit this version is getting is worth the downgrade in graphics imo. I could buy it on PC sure, but I want more story, dungeons, bosses, etc.
Because I am not a time traveller able to play the switch version with the extra content a year before its release.
Same, it's beautiful. Witcher 3 also looking great. What a time to be alive.
Playing in handheld mode right at this very moment.
If anyone's planning to play from a couch, can confirm it looks pretty good with the distance. If you're up close to a monitor it's easier to see how blurry it is
Explain
Ultrawides are usually 30+ inch and slightly curved. For MMOs and some other games are excellent since they allow you a wider vision of the field.
that's a handheld screenshot
>Explain
ultrawide exists for viewing films, not playing vidya. Most games don't even support ultrawide and require special patches to work, and even then your mileage may vary on playability.
honestly im not sure yet
having party members follow you is cool but thats not worth the graphics hit
i hope there's a lot of new content
this sort of reminds me of dq8 3ds where they literally added 2 new characters but the rest of the game was gimped to the point where ps2 version was still better overall
When people post handheld screenshots they always ignore the switch is much smaller than a normal 720p screen so the screenshots are being stretched a lot.
there's significantly more added than that
They have added way more than the 8 port did
youtube.com
I can't believe it bros
So basically you don't like them because it's too hassle to make them work. Also
>Vidya
>Not movies
Who are my based posters here that are gonna' replay the game in 2D?
Looks cool but I’m not going to buy a game I just beat a 9 months ago, gonna wait for P4R instead
This game is boring as fuck. What’s the appeal? More “comfy” shit? Pretty art style though
I’ve never played the game and intend to play it entirely in 2D on switch
It's just dragon quest.
This one is nothing special either, it picks up after the 2nd part of the game, but as pretty much every other DQ, it peaks too early.
>>Vidya
>>Not movies
yikes.
You were supposed to open up the Draconian options and turn on hard monsters to play the version made for adults
I unironically want the next DQ to be open-world and not turn based
love the graphics and designs but almost nothing else
Just play Heroes 2. Open world, action combat set in the DQ multiverse.
Draconian hard mode doesn't add that much difficulty in most sections of the game though.
I am not gonna disagree that (even if it adds more RNG to the game), full draconian runs can be quite difficult and grindy, but if you only have hard mode only, the game really spikes the difficulty on specific sections of the game, especially early game.
Characters such as Sylvando and Serena get too fucking good, Sylvando especially since you don't need to get to part 2 of the game, and that's where Serena reigns supreme because of the amount of utility she brings to the table, and how fast she can stack buffs on the whole party. And once Erik gets his max damage combo, the game pretty much gives up.
but that's Musou shit
GREAT PORT
Most action RPGs play like garbage musou, anyway, just with less enemies.
>angry snoy shitposting in every DQ thread
holy FUCK they are mad. Should just be happy people are playing the game tbqh
Would look better if they just axed foliage in general and kept better texture resolution.
there's way too much bloom on the hay in the top pic
AHEM
The graphics are pretty good. I'm surprised that a child's handheld can run them just fine.
>People losing their shit over graphics for an RPG
muh blades of grass
muh moving hair
muh wood details
>dq8 outfit changes the overworld music
finally all the normies who complained about dq11 music are put to rest
dont forget the water
imagine botw without the grass
I'm starting to want to play this game but theres ONE THING stopping me from downloading it
Can I marry/bang the waifus in it? I hear in older games you can have a kid, which is cool, but I need to know this before I play
>Not wanting the game to look good and have all the new content
>not wanting a game to be the best it can possibly be
If the game can look better, why not strive for it? That said I don't think it's a huge deal that the graphics are downgraded for the platform, but I do think it'd be a huge shame if all the new content and improvements would be switch exclusive. Feels like early adopters of the game are getting screwed over, especially in the west where we didn't get the 3DS version with the retro 2D stuff.
If this had RTX support you'd be able to see the sky reflected back in the water in a diffused manner due to the size of the light source (the sun).
>Implying normies were the ones bitching
The DQ11 overworld theme is ass user, and it plays for the majority of the fucking game. Even the orchestral version is shit.
In the PC/PS4 versions you can only marry gemma, which hardly amounts to anything in the end. Switch version will allow you marry anyone, but again I doubt it'll amount to anything but a few lines of dialogue in the epilogue of the game.
All that matters is content and gameplay. Muh resolution and graphics is dead last in terms of importance of a game.
>docked isn't much worse than base PS4
Gemma's faced is not jagged and blurry when she's behind Eleven on the base PS4. It is on the Switch. I'm sorry, but you are a deluded, boot-licking faggot if you can excuse this shit.
I've seen many people claim that this engine is not UE4, which was the one used on PS4/PC, can anyone confirm this with a source? Also, give me one good reason to believe that the S content won't make it to the PS4/PC ports. This is JEW ENIX we're talking about. Sure, they'll resale you the game at $60 for it, but it'll be there. Or maybe they'll pull a Maxima.
You don't get it. The environments look downgraded sure, but the issue is with the fucking character models. They look like they're from a fucking PS2 game. Which sucks, I honestly really wanted this version, but nothing prepared for what a blurry mess the Switch version is. The one advantage I can think of is that playing 2D mode anywhere will be cool, but I'm not going to pay 60 bucks primarily for the fucking 2D mode.
A shame, was kinda keen for a new RPG but I can't deal with anime retardation if I can't chad my way through the gameworld
Maybe I'll just play it anyone and cheat my way to godlike status, thanks user
>Feels like early adopters of the game are getting screwed over
That's standard practice for japanese gamers. We tend to get the updated version. This happened all the time back in ps1/2 days.
Hell Americans never got Penance and Dark Aeons in FFX till the remaster. Europe got it. Japan had to buy the game again.
>They look like they're from a fucking PS2 game.
and this affects the gameplay how
Sure but to say they aren't a factor at all is also silly. If it were possible to have all the new content on PC with the better graphics why wouldn't you want that as an option?
DQ11 is THE jrpg of the last decade. Objective truth.
It affects my ability to enjoy a game that I know has the potential to look gorgeous. As I said, Jew Enix won't miss the chance to milk this cow for all it is worth, so I'd rather spend money on another Switch JRPG, maybe FE, and play DQ on PS4. Sorry, I know you can't fathom anyone preferring anything on a "Snoy" console, but I didn't expect the game to look so blurry and full of jaggies. The S content is top-notch though, the music is beautiful and the Jap voices are excellent. Good for you if you can enjoy that despite the atrocious visuals. I can't, and won't subject myself to them. Easy as.
>10 HOUR DEMO
>CAN TRANSFER SAVE FILE TO THE FULL GAME
FUCKING BASED
Winning a race by default doesnt amount to much
I cant help but feel that 2D mode was made for this exact problem
2D mode exists since the Jap-only 3DS version of the game.
If I didn't already pay full price for the PC version and played it for 100 hours, I'd buy this and replay in 2d mode
Will probably pick up if I can find it for 30 though. Probably still remember most of where the targets are too.
Yeah no shit did you hear what I just said
It exists in XI-S also, but you're stuck going to a church to switch between the modes unlike where it was always there on 3DS.
The 2D mode was included in the japanese only release of DQXI on 3DS, which features more classic style gameplay and the going into past games content as well.
too bad the game is absolute trash
Looks better than the new Pokemon coming out.
I'll have enough fun for both of us.
it can run it, it just looks like shit
That's some fucking nice water
CAN YOU USE 2D MODE IN THE DEMO
THIS IS IMPORTANT
No.
that looks like complete ass 2bqhwy. my 6-year-old laptop can run things that look much better. contrast between the character artstyle and the background artstyle is horrendous, too
Reposting my autism
This is why I want someone to confirm to me that the game really isn't using UE4 anymore. I mean, I expected downgrades, but the game looks so fucking bad that I can't help but think that the justification is that the new engine was poorly optimized for the Switch and SE are being a bunch of lazy, greedy Jews. I'm not that big of a graphics/FPS snob, but goddamn this game is ugly, and this is coming from someone that honestly only found Pokemon Sw/Sh and Three Houses to be repulsive looking Nintendo titles.
Is it worth restarting to play on hard mode?
Fine looking water.
And as someone that finds Three Houses and Sword & Shield to be ugly I think DQ11 is pretty good.
i plan to
i'm really glad they added that feature. i was originally planning on playing the 3ds version for that reason had they brought it to the west alongside ps4
