I've decided since the industry is going to shit I am going to spend my time catching up on games I've always wanted to play but never got around to. The next on the list on the JRPGs Skies of Arcadia and Final Fantasy 3(6).
I decided to get the Dreamcast version of Arcadia, since I already have a Beharbros HDMI adapter for my Dreamcast and the audio is better in comparison to the Gamecube, also its "the og".
I was wondering what Yea Forums would say is the best way to play Final Fantasy 6? I have a SNES, but no easy way to hook it up, I also don't have a SD2NES, so I would either be buying one of those or buying the game legitimately.
I looked at the Steam version and I don't even know what the hell happened its a Silent Hill HD tier disaster, I don't know what they were thinking. The mobile version seems to be the same as well. A friend of mine swears there is a DS version but I can't find any record of it. I know there is a GBA version, but I hate not having a backlight, and I know nothing of the quality of the port itself. I also think there was a Playstation version somewhere.
If you were me, and wanted to plat Final Fantasy 6 for the first time in 2019, what would you do?
What's the best versions of all the Dragonquests. Are the snes ones better than the DS.
Nathaniel Jenkins
>tfw finally beat the boss at the bottom and felt more joy than I’ve ever felt since
Colton Adams
i basically also am doing the same thing i lurk /vr/ a lot i have a backlog of lots of old games i almost went the "everdrive" route but i am going with carts i own and then roms i downloaded the steam version of FF6 is horrendous as is the mobile version. Your friend must be mistaking the DS version for the GBA version. The GBA version is an upgrade in some ways but I think the SNES original has better music. I wouldn't know how to plat FF6, it is not on PS4 so there is no platinum trophy. If you wanted to PLAY FF6 I'd go SNES emulation. SNES emulation (SOME emulators) is actually 99.999% perfect.
this was my ex-gf's favorite game. I never played it and assumed she just had shit taste. is it any good? we only broke up a month ago and we dated like 5 and a half years. should i bother trying to get her back? she was pissed i didnt marry her.
Adam White
How's the PS1 version? Was gonna play that on my vita at some point myself.
Colton Cook
>Yea Forums hates FF6 now What the FUCK went wrong?
Isaac Jones
Just people fighting against what’s being praised and popular. Happened with VII for years, then VI and IX got more appreciation, now those are being shit on a lot over here.
Andrew Baker
If that means VI will get a remake just to make Yea Forums seethe I'm all for it
FF7 fags spamming their conspiracy theory that nobody is allowed to like FF6 without being a "Contrarian" out to make everyone hate FF7. Yea Forums named FF6 the 2nd best RPG ever this year so it's the same vocal minority of contrarians in every thread
James Smith
>tfw you know you have an exact Bizarro equivalent posting on Yea Forums RIGHT NOW
>Yea Forums named FF6 the 2nd best RPG ever this year sauce. jrpg or rpg?
It's just like 2 weirdos
Jaxon Campbell
I dont like FF7 either fag
Christopher Murphy
Some screwed up naming (they cut an extra character out of most enemy names) and slow to get to the status menu in the game on the original PS1. Might be some slight battle slowdown but not as bad as chrono trigger ps1. May be faster on like vita or PS4 but it could be just as slow too given they're emulating that version. Pretty much inferior to the snes original.
Jason Perez
Darn, alright thanks.
Benjamin Collins
>muh FFVII boogeyman
FFVIfags are a joke
Jayden Hernandez
>FF6 >RPG
Jacob Gonzalez
Emulate the GBA version with an uncensored sprite patch.
Jace Moore
dont fall for this meme, Final Fantasy 6 is carried by its sound and graphics and even with the SNES patches the GBA version still looks and sounds like shit. There is no reason to use it over finding that GBA translation patch for the SNES version
Joshua Johnson
The music on the gba is inferior tho
John Diaz
I'm just going to listen to Kate Bush.
Angel Long
there's a patch if you're emulating
Adam Lopez
>There is no reason to use it over finding that GBA translation patch for the SNES version Except that the SNES translation is superior kek
William Campbell
The sound restoration patch, contrary to its name, does not make the sound the same as the snes version, just tries to make the gba version music more tolerable and in some cases it goes off the rails and does its own weird shit like with the opera
Christian Perez
>I decided to get the Dreamcast version of Arcadia based why bother with hdmi adapter for DC though, it already outputs 640x480 with the official VGA cable / VGA box you must be a real loser to not have a VGA crt monitor for your pc yes the GC audio was compressed because minidvd doesnt fit as much but i think it had some other improvements i like the DC version more too though anyway you might wanna just play it on dolphin emulator at like 4x speed, the game is really fucking tedious at times...
Justin Jenkins
super metroid required a LOT more skill than symphony of the night, the bosses and combat in that game are a complete joke also based "attack" player
Chase Cruz
based rise of the sinistrals poster
Gavin Ross
Lufia 2 is pretty much a Zelda game with turn based combat.
all you could ask for read the descriptions and choose whatever suits your tastes. i personally use the gba restored version in retroarch with the mgba core
Both SoTN and Super Metroid are the most unbalanced pieces of shit in their respective franchises. Every boss fight in both of them can easily be beaten by standing in front of a boss and button mashing.
Granted SoTN is even easier than Super Metroid, but both of them are bottom of the barrel.
Easton Wood
what the hell, i haven't tried it before but the pastebin on the ff general recommends it as the best version of the game
Jace Powell
PS1 version easily.
Jaxon Howard
I know the version on SNES Classic had sound problems but I don't know how bad.
Sebastian Thompson
go ahead and try it for yourself then, its pretty obvious from just the opening minutes
Luke Roberts
vi is great. ix is shilled all the time here now but its my favorite so i dnt mind
Logan Hall
what would you call it?
Asher Richardson
agreed 100%
Christian Miller
skies of arcadia was pretty cool, the tiny bit I played on the emulator, but I have been holding out for a remaster or at least a port to Steam so i can play for achievements. a lot of these old games I tend to drop but with achievements it just gives me enough of an excuse to power through them. plus i keep my progress without having to chase down all kinds of shit required to emulate a game.
Gabriel White
i really liked 9 and I played the PC port without the mod. Really good game, cheap port. Hoping to buy the game on sale this winter some time and replay it with the graphics mod
Eli Carter
Some people are ok with it but purists will only want the exact originals. Its certainly better than the garbage default music but it isn't accurate enough
Joseph Reyes
i did a little more research and it looks like emulating the snes version is the best yeah, there's a patch for it too
