Yes, it was.
Yes it was.
The phantom might be one of the most poorly designed bosses I’ve ever faced
That's definitely the worst part of the game, but the rest of it is salvagavle.
It's worst offense is what it does to Bioshock lore, but even that I think is slightly salvaged by the end of Burial part 2.
In a vacuum the game is at least fun. Especially the skylines
it was really bad relative to the other two games
may as well have been Steampunk CoD
WAIT
I'M
Awful level design, it's basically just linear corridor after linear corridor. They create this large scale city that looks interesting, but the only times it ever "opens up," and that's being very generous, are like 2 times in the entire game; once at port prosperity, and again at the end of the game, but as soon as the action part of port prosperity begins, it's all linear. The segment towards the end of the game, where you fight ths tupid ghost lady comstock is also basically one square linear path with like 3 buildings you can enter to explore. That's the depth of the exploration in this game. Also, the comically sized audio logs lying around because everyone's just recording their every thought and leaving it.
The game's combat limits you to two guns at a time, awful design choice as you run out of ammo so fast and have to pick up another shitty unupgraded gun to kill enemies with because there's no ammo for your gun anywhere to be found.
The game uses themes of classism and racism, but they're just there to be used as props, not actually deeply explored by the characters who just don't give a fuck about anything going on.
The DLC was the worst part though, what a complete waste of money. Not only are both DLC episodes short as fuck, but they're awful in both design and gameplay. They dumbed down the already dumbed down bioshock gameplay with Infinite's dumbed down combat. The only worthwhile thing is just to be in rapture before everything went to shit, which was kinda cool I guess, but not perfect. Outside of that it's just pretty awful. Also, the story retconned Bioshock pretty much, another insult to the player's intelligence.
The dumb ass fucking story with the lighthouses and you being Comstock from an alternate timeline, it's all just so tedious.
They rarely even used Elizabeth's tear powers or whatever they were, it was just completely pointless.
Stupid fucking songbird.
The dumb ass final battle on the airship was stupid. Need I go on?
It was pretty fun. The majority of the characters, especially liz, stood out as pretty good. I still feel like the original game concept would have been better if they went with it, atleast the trailer looked very promising. The one we got feels watered down compared to it.
the porn definitely wasnt bad i'll give you that
>It's another beat for beat matthewmatosis parroting repost
The potential of what could have been is what is salvageable. You can look at BSI and see what could've been a great game. When BioShock Infinite was given a Game Of The Year award they played footage from one of the alpha trailers that featured content that wasn't in the final game.
Isn't Bioshock Infinite pretty much Half-Life?
No, it wasn't. While I do think they simplified the gunplay and combat to appeal to a wider audience, and it became a bit more like a shooting gallery, I didn't really hate it. My problems were with the plot, which went to hell once they start time traveling/
No, these are my own opinions after playing through it again last year, including all the DLC with the tedious "clash in the clouds" bullshit as well which was complete trash DLC, but I wanted all the stupid achievements for some reason.
It's a bad game, plain and simple. The only redeeming factor is some of the art design, but even that is pretty uninspired for the most part.
and That’s a Good Thing
The trailers were better than the game.
I liked the art design but that has more to do with my soft spot for early 20th century aesthetic. I haven't played it in roughly two years, I'll have to play it again. I agree with most of your post, but I still enjoyed it for what it's worth. It is by far the lesser of the three Bishocks, though.
>two weapon limit
fuck this console shit
Everything about this game is great ideas horrible execution. Every last thing.
Thank god we left 2013 behind us
>game series meant to be a spiritual sucessor to System Shock
>devolves into movie game shit with zero player agency
>clash in the clouds
don't remind me
It was a good and fun game, still have it installed.
Only thing that personally bothered me was the lootshit. Game was horrible while looting coins etc. it only started to be gun again after i started to ignore each lootable item
It features my audiologfu so it gets credit for that
it was fucking trash I paid $15 for my copy and still felt ripped off. Can only imagine paying full price or god help me paying for a special edition.
It wasn't bad. Seethe then cope
I had fun replaying it but only when I made an effort to constantly switch weapons and fling around the map (rather than carbine sniping)
Was Levine even happy with it in concept? It made it kind of annoying, especially since some of the guns were fun to use but it was annoying looking for them on the battlefield
base game is just ok 5-6/10
burial at seas however completely completely fucks up the lore of the first 2 games.
Everything about Lady Comstock was super weird and could have been handled better
Even for all the praise the bioshock games get, they're just dumbed down from what the system shock games were. It's really a shame, I cannot even like Bioshock 1 anymore after playing through system shock 1 and 2 and seeing how much deeper the mechanics managed to be, and how great the level design was in comparison. Even Prey 2017 makes Bioshock look like a joke from a level design and gameplay perspective.
That said, I still am not going to completely shit on bioshock 1 and 2 because they're still good games.
Its the worst of all shock games.
But it was, it didn't know what it wanted to be other than a sequel to Bioshock, but it's such a bad sequel, it carried over so many elements that just didn't make any sense within the setting, and many elements that didn't make sense within even the gameplay, the story was weaksauce and it's themes were pathetic.
Homie it's bad from top to bottom.
It really was, the core shooting loop gets old after the third battle since 2/3rds of the plasmids or whatever they're called in this game is the same damage+stun and there's 0 enemy variety. The writing is pretty bad from the start and only manages to stabilize briefly before Ken huffed too much of his own farts and went off the deep end. The graphics looked ok at the time but now they look fucking horrible.
You're pretty much better off playing any other throwaway FPS.
>huffed too much of his own farts
I swear you're referencing THAT webm
Fuck that's bittersweet
Replayed the whole franchise over the past 2 weeks or so and my definitive list has to go:
BS2 > BS1 > Minerva's Den > Burial2 > Infinite > Burial 1
I don't think I outright HATED any of it however. Infinite gets too much negative attention for being too different, but I like how truely subversive it is to the series (assuming future games will go back to the original style)
>tfw her husband became an handyman because of stomach cancer and she thought an handyman was better than a dead one.
Hey, I made the exact same thread a few weeks ago. Is this a meme?
Weird coincidence I guess
I agree. Plus so some amazing SFMs of Elizabeth.
Right, but it was massively overrated on launch, which caused such contrarian pushback
>any part of Burial better than anything
Come on, that was just to shoehorn Rapture into Infinite, and the continued jerking to Elizabeth.
Which will it be, gentlemen
It was. The only reason anyone continues to give a shit is so they can lewd Liz.
Fuck the left, have the right peg me.
Left for vaginal, right for anal
It was pretty mediocre, it did nothing well other than some set pieces. How and why critics were hailing this game as the holy grail I'll never understand.
It was curtains as soon as I hit that first bat/raven "boss" or whatever, maybe 30 or 45 minutes in. It's tripe. The accumulated cringe up until and including that point was too much. The combat felt better than the previous two but the narrative (and more) was horribad.
There were kids literally trying to present the game in universities as art. The reddit posts about how amazing and deep this game was permanently broke me, was probably the moment I realized that most nerds weren't smarter than anyone else and just enjoyed the smell of their own farts a little more.
facefucking left while right holds her head down on my dick
Perfect
Correct.
THIS wasn't that bad
I'd have to disagree. Seeing a Rapture that wasn't in the shitter was nice, but that didn't make up for the rest of it.
The world design and atmosphere was great to be honest. The Americana turn of the century feel was great. The re-imagined modern songs was a great touch
The story and gameplay loop were pretty weak though
Elizabeth was bad in it, though.
Not any worse than usual
Old Woman Elizabeth kill count is probably the highest but BAS Elizabeth is probably second ; killed Comstock, caused Sally to die then felt "guilty" and went back when she gave no fuck during the act and indirectly caused the death of around 200 innocent people on a plane.
