Three Houses was a step in the right direction, but give me some ideas you have to fix Fire Emblem further. I'll start
>bring back enemy units that can be recruited, but make it like the older games where you have to pay attention to dialogue and circumstance to figure out who to talk to them with
>remove the wheel of time/divine pulse gimmick for Classic Mode, or restrict it to 1 or 2 uses for RNG whiners. Including it in Classic Mode doesn't really make it Classic Mode. Just Casual Mode where Casual Mode turns off for a chapter if you continuously play like an idiot
>not necessarily restrict supports to a total of 5, but stop letting fucking everyone support everyone. It's time consuming and not even worth it because half the support conversations nowadays are just copypaste scenarios of all their other supports
>find a way to rebalance armored units because even to this day, unless you purposefully hold the rest of your units back, armored units are always less valuable than the rest
>make the harder difficulties harder in a tactical sense. No one is impressed by Lunatic mode because all it does is give enemies silver weapons and have them charge you and the only "tactics" you employ are just repeatedly figuring out the best way to survive a bum rush and then wiping up stragglers
And then Three Houses-specific, don't fucking genderlock classes. You make most of the strongest magic units girls and then tell me Dark Mage can only be used by guy units? That's fuckin retarded. Anyways.
She's just frustrated that she doesn't get her shit together since Lysithea herself is basically working herself to death with the little time she has to live. So her genuinely good advice comes across as a bit hostile. It's how her C supports generally go.
Matthew Brooks
>Streamline the conversation process with units if the concept of days off and spending time with your units exists going forward.
This alone killed a lot of my drive to keep playing. The jarring halt you get to where you have to talk to everyone in your school then just say fuck it to the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Bentley Gray
I agree. I always felt Explore should have been something that happened regardless, and after exploring and talking to people, THEN you chose Seminar or Battle, and that's how every day off would go. Making Explore its only option, I agree, felt super jarring.
Aiden Morales
I think the Wheel of Time should have gameplay repercussions, like you start fucking with time itself and introduce instability in a way that can cause extreme negative outcomes to possibly happen the more you use it, a bit like hacking in the original .hack quadrilogy. Keep battalions but just add more possible gambits, and make enemies use them often too. Adjutants are a weird area but I think it'd be helpful if you could tweak them or if they got pair-specific bonuses Also, maybe make terrain changes that affect how different gambits and battalions operate
Anthony Williams
Agree with all except for make enemies use gambits more often. Enemies use them plenty in 3H and they are the most time-consuming and boring and irritating thing to deal with. I'd actually prefer gambits go away if I had to pick between keeping or losing them.
Jordan Martin
Because she's a childish brat.
Joshua Long
>don't fucking genderlock classes Its just girls can't do everything guys can do and guys can't (normally) be pegasus knights
>fates was the first time a male could ride a pega >he's total shit in comparison
gender roles exist for a reason.
Charles Powell
The only changes that need to happen is the game needs to be harder. And get rid of rewinding time. It just promotes lazy play like it has for me. Other than that I think the game is perfect.
I really liked that explore didn't happen every week. I hated having to run around the monastery. I'd do it once a month to get everything done and then just do battles the other weeks. You get more than enough skill points naturally.
Henry Reyes
As are you.
Adrian Lee
It only feels so unnecessary because you can just roll the mage girls as Warlocks while leveling up their Riding and Lance skills in seminars and then make them a Dark Rider with a Master Seal. They gender lock the two developmental dark mage classes but make the final one accessible by all.
I fucked up my phrasing on the post you're responding to. What I think would be better is that instead of starting each week off with Byleth staring at a board, have him already be in the Monastery. And you can run around a bit each week and then end the day with a Seminar or Battle, instead of having to fuck the pacing up by talking to everyone in the entire school 1 day a month.
Gavin Sullivan
The problem isn't enemies using gambits its that when they do it almost never lands. I don't mind watching the animation when I'm worried about it hitting me and fucking up my advance or hurting several of my units but when all its going to do is miss I'd rather not waste time watching another mob of mooks run past my units.
Evan Reed
>bring back enemy units that can be recruited, but make it like the older games where you have to pay attention to dialogue and circumstance to figure out who to talk to them with You make it sound complicated when in reality it was generally >talk to important likable character with related character.
>not necessarily restrict supports to a total of 5, but stop letting fucking everyone support everyone. It's time consuming and not even worth it because half the support conversations nowadays are just copypaste scenarios of all their other supports >t. gbabby Limited supports sucked, and they don't give a big advantage in 3H anyway. Just leave them for lorefags, limits suck and generally force the player to play through multiple times just to see important characterization.
>find a way to rebalance armored units because even to this day, unless you purposefully hold the rest of your units back, armored units are always less valuable than the rest Honestly, with how early you can get stride, they aren't THAT bad in this regard. They only suck in ltc compositions, but in those you're just going to run horses and fliers no matter what.
Everything else you mentioned is mostly right. Even though I like divine pulse, fuck soft resetting every time rng fucks me, especially with how easily certain bosses can one shot you in this game with a lucky crit.
Anyway, controversial opinion incoming, but one of the biggest things I would like to see ISIS try moving forward would be the removal of classes almost entirely. Keep a spiritual successor in some form for the sake of skill progression, but otherwise I don't see why I can't have a heavily armored unit that also flings spells, or why I can't just go full foot soldier spear autist from the start of the game till the end, let alone go hybrid the entire game. Also bring back daggers, they were way better than fist weapons.
Jaxson Ortiz
I'd like to option to do things like guardening, eating dinners, and faculty training from the menu. Sure running around seeing what people have to say at the start of the month is fine but traveling all over kingdom come every week to raise everyone's motivation and level my skills is annoying.
Samuel Thompson
Enemy unit recruitment wasn't complicated, it was just a lot more immersive and fun as opposed to the game just handing me all my units.
As for your second point, that's sort of what I mean. Limited supports only to an extent. I think the GBA games restricting you to 5 conversations was horrible. I just also don't want every single character to be able to support every single character.
Your controversial opinion is indeed controversial and I would never support it, but I'm glad you're putting it forth in the form of a discussion and not being a cunt about it. I respect you.
Kevin Lee
Someone in another thread a few days back brought up the idea of removing level ups entirely. Just have units with set stats, so that way theres no over leveling and making the latter half of the game a cakewalk. Thoughts?
Connor Watson
I agree. They can stay as exploration exclusive activities, if need be, but at least let me access them all from my room or something, hate having to wait on several loading screens just to do everything in a timely fashion. Would also like more activities for exploration as well, really found myself running out of things to do in late game. Adding more activities like the hymns would be a great starting place, as would letting said activities boost motivation.
Jaxon Miller
splitting the game in 4 routes was stupid and fucked the poor writing even more.
Gabriel Peterson
You might as well bring back Advance wars
Juan Myers
That one would be tough to get behind. It has its ups and downs. Sort of like a controversial opinion of my own. Drastically reduce the playable units. I'm doing my 3H runs only allowing myself 1 recruit from another class, and it's been FANTASTIC using ALL my units EVERY fight. I hate benching units and reaching the endgame with only a handful of units I give a shit about. Being forced to develop relationships and attachments to every single unit because they're all usable and I don't have to pick and choose felt great.
Oliver Lee
Alright Quick question, I really like Lorenz and I was curious which ending I should try to get for this lad. Marianne is out of the equation, and I'm leaning towards Hilda and Claude
What part of the writing would you consider poor aside from Edelgard's motivation and reasoning? Genuine question
Daniel Jenkins
Go for Claude. I did Hilda with Lorenz on my Golden Deer playthrough and it was kinda lame. They aren't a super great fit anyway.
Levi Young
NG+ needs more features >After beating the game all the skill exp you earned for every unit gets thrown into a pot and can then be redistributed as you please to your new units on the next run. This way you don’t have to grind explores/seminars/battles to get motivation up and can basically skip the entire school sections as you please >Also allow you to insta recruit units you’ve already had in the previous run so you don’t have to spend time getting them to like you and can enjoy more cross house supports All the routes are great but I’ve seen people get burnt out too quickly and the slog is to blame.
Jackson Morgan
Give us better endgame other then just playing through it again.
Also the game was easy. Even hard mode was a joke after the first few months.
Austin Garcia
You can SORTA do that first one. Your Renown carries over and you can spend it leveling skills for any of your units. And you can also spend any Renown you earn from quests on it.
Robert Parker
Lysithea is taller than Hilda
Angel Rogers
Renown covers all of these
Gavin Evans
Renown is too finite and it doesn’t even work that well for getting your Byleth up. Not to mention if you want to try a different build for him it’s even more useless
Thomas Cook
I realized too late into my NG+ run of GD what a big mistake it was recruiting all of the characters I liked from playing BE and BL. Pre timeskip and I have almost the entirety of both other houses, a shit ton of benched, etc. Trying to softlock myself into only sticking with the original GD crew now but it's making my eye twitch how all my other non-original units aren't keeping up with levels now because of it
I found his and lysitheas supports were pretty endearing
Asher Lewis
His ending with Lysithea is cute as fuck and is one of the few where she lives a decently long life, but if you want to go Claude, having accidentally gotten it myself, I'll tell you right now that it's bro as fuck.
Jonathan Gonzalez
I'd make whoever you married in your NG playthrough immediately accept your recruitment in NG+ so long as it wasn't a house leader for a rival house.
Ethan Williams
Oh god I can save Lysithea a bit? I might go and do that
Luke Davis
How does Leonie know Jeralt since she was a little girl? Wasn't he missing for 20 years and she's 19?
Elijah Powell
The experience bonus from the statues make it very easy to rotate through a good amount of characters.
Isaac Price
Am I a bad person if I use renown in NG+ to put Lysithea all the way back at S+ reason instead of leveling her the normal way again?
I think it's stranger that Byleth doesn't know her.
Connor Lopez
I agree with everything you say, OP. You have some good insights.
>bring back enemy units that can be recruited Not even just enemies, more recruitment in general. The great thing about this isn't just the gameplay ramifications, but it also helps give these characters stronger and clearer motivations. Retainers or students or whatever fight just because they're there. They just happen to have a contract. Characters you recruit during the course of the game fight because they have their own reason to fight. 3H's characterization covers this topic, but older games did more with less.
>remove the wheel of time/divine pulse gimmick for Classic Mode Especially in 3H, I thought it'd be cool if it ran on a monthly basis, rather than by map. Or you could rest to restore uses. They could've iterated on it over Echoes, but unfortunately they didn't.
>restrict supports Although I agree, I'm more torn on this. Restricted supports makes it feel like characters are actually growing and changing. Seeing the same character arc occurring several times is weird. In 3H, so many A ranks are romantic, it feels like the students are massive swingers. On the other hand, I like getting so much content in a single run. It's quite nice.
>find a way to rebalance armored units How about stuff like the movement skills in FEH? Wings of Mercy, Guidance/Ground Orders and stuff that lets them teleport around allies and protect them.
Dominic Harris
OK I did it, it only cost 2500 because she was already at B rank. Now she will kill everything even faster.
Byleth, Claude, and Henneman can also save her. >Power outage interrupted my post and forced me to retype this on my phone FUCK
Charles Jackson
I think the best choice is just give them another square or two of movement space and maybe lower their STR cap.
Jason Sanchez
>>bring back enemy units that can be recruited Yes, I miss this and it would be nice to have back. >>remove the wheel of time/divine pulse gimmick for Classic Mode, or restrict it to 1 or 2 uses for RNG whiners. Including it in Classic Mode doesn't really make it Classic Mode. I agree with this alot. I understand the argument that it's nice to have to prevent resets, getting crit at the end of a level, or to see different bits of dialogue but this does nothing but make the game easier and lets you play like a retard without having to worry if a unit dies because you can just rewind time for like the 13th time. I personally would rather see it gone in Classic modes moving forward and keeping it to casual mode but ideally you'd balance this around having only a fixed amount of rewinds per playthrough depending on difficulty and mode. On the subject of classic remove those red lines for classic playthroughs.
One thing I'd like to complain about is gambits. Whilst they're a nice addition and definitely add to the game I feel like they've got too much going on for them. Plus stats, debuffs enemy, stops their movement, some have huge range to add to all that and are cheap as fuck to replenish. I'm not sure what I'd really suggest to change about this but I feel like if you nerf it too much it would be useless.
Nolan Murphy
Thank you for your patience user
Jacob Diaz
I don’t think I have ever seen a non-healing adjutant do anything useful. The guard ones don’t actually block double attacks, they just reduce the damage the double attack does by like 2 damage. And I don’t think I have EVER seen an attack adjutant actually do an attack.
Michael Lewis
Make siege weapons worth using/have them in more maps, hell just make maps more involved in general, traps, switches, etc. not every map has to be a field, or an indoor map with some chests.
bring back bexp or something similar aswell as bonus exp for clearing a map quickly
I actually would like to see this kind of plot attempted again, just with more polish, a 1st part where its all kind of chill and you get to get to know the people then a 2nd part that seperates them all and then youd pick a side possibly.
Isaac Morgan
Why would it matter? NG+/renown exist solely so your class can become your personal army of minmaxed child supersoldiers. It's good fun. Hilda best girl.
Try not to have every support convo with the MC be, >"Hello, here's some of my backstory now." >*gives you two incredibly generic responses that don't have the illusion of kinda mattering* >"Whoa, Professor how are you so incredibly wise and talented for someone so young and handsome? I wish I could be even a fraction as fucking amazing as you, but me and everyone else here are just pieces of shit compared to you! Well, I will see you at our next level of support :)" Almost all of the supports between the characters themselves are better than the supports with Byleth.
Nathaniel Jones
Customizable/purchasable mounts and armor. What if I want a horse that can tank at the cost of speed? Not trying to be an SJW, but keeping classes gendered sucks, outside of Pegasus knights. Give us back griffon knights and give girls a punch based class Dark Magic as a whole needs fixing Unironically, give us daggers back as a weapon or sword subset
Joseph Ross
Remove the pointless fetch quests, tea partys, instruction segments, cooking segments, ect. Just get rid of anything to do with the Monastery as anything other than a backdrop.
Jason Watson
>More Varied map objectives. >Add Muskets and Cannons to the ranged weapons roster. >If they are gonna do child units. Make it a generation long timeskip.
Wyatt Edwards
>Add more events to the in-between days.
It's a missed opportunity to just let all those days pass by without anything. Have short skits or something with characters that have X level support would go a long way with establishing relationships and make the month to month less samey.
I would be okay with limited supports but only if they deepened the system we already have. Not having pre and post skip missed a cool opportunity.
Weapon triangle definitely needs to come back because the classes lose so much flavor without it.
They need to figure out some hook for the monastery mid to late game. It's so easy to get support that I just ended up eating which is letting down the entire concept of the game.
Jackson Peterson
>he was total shit Well that's because they gave the guy with 0 attack the class Now imagine a dude with 60 personal growth as a pega
Doing GD now. Since Lysithea has the Minor Crest of Charon would it retarded if I spec her into magic but then transition her into Mortal Savant late game and give her Thunderbrand?
Weapon triangle doesn't make sense in a game where everyone can use all three weapons if they want. It wouldnt be difficult to just have an iron+ of all 3 weapon types on your melee characters.
Adrian Bell
Instead of having 3 routes I would be cool if you were a teacher over multiple years. Like, you'd get a class of shitty students, train them up and by the end of the year they graduate and you start training a completely new class. If you built up enough support maybe you could convince some of them to stay as teaching assistants. Year 4 the school is destroyed and the last 1/4 of the game functions as regular fire emblem where you're doing shit to built a army to beat the big bad and can potentially find/recruit your old students in missions depending on how good you raised them.
Jace Cook
The way characters grow on the battlefield in FE games has needed an adjustment for the longest time and it feels like 3H is one of the worst offenders for it. I have no problems balancing my time off the battlefield to get everyone the training they need but when it comes to gaining XP, it has always been an absolute pain in the dick to keep units evenly leveled so you don't end up with 2-3 powerhouses and then the rest are useless shitters because you let them get just slightly behind for one map and now they can't swing at anything without getting killed or otherwise stuck in a situation where they're left open to the rest of the enemy surrounding them. I'm all for "every decision counts" in tactics games but that shouldn't applied to just leveling your units evenly. I'm aware 3H offers free battles in normal difficulty so you can just use them to grind out units over a couple of battles to keep everyone close together but that's 1. a very lazy and tedious way to handle it and 2. not available on lunatic mode. Honestly, a better solution would be to just increase the number of enemies on maps, make them bigger, and tweak their positions so it's easier to split your army up and get everyone the XP they need to keep up but not get totally ahead unless you intentionally let them.
Making brawler male only was what really made me sad. I really, really wanted to make FemByleth into a brawler. Also S supports between other units, not just the main unit. I don't know why they made them stop at A.
Jonathan Parker
Really all I want is more stuff to micromanage at the Monastery or whatever equivalent. I often feel like there's not really much to do and find myself really struggling to spend the last few GBP I have. Maybe make it so Seminars don't take up a day or just have more ways to raise your bond with students. Maybe let us go into the town or whatever. if their gonna ape Persona they might as well go all in I'd also enjoy shit like Logistics or R&D into better equipment or classes or whatever.
Basically make it like more Peace Walker
Matthew Thompson
wish my house was this comfy bros...
Brody Williams
>Three Houses was a step in the right direction, By casualzing it even further or make it outright broken with additional unbalanced mechanics? Or the shitty anime school fetchquests stuff courtesy of KOEI?
Your suggestions are not bad, but they need to do more. Some things that aren't even suggestions but really should be done are >gambits only have one(1) use per map since they're broken as is, and they dont negate terrain hits anymore >enemies actually use gambits not in the most braindead way and only to immobilize the player >enemies get to use breaker skills on hard >maps that actually require more strategy than head on bashing or playing checkers >choosing a different weapon should take one turn instead of insta equip when attacking to at least ease out the multi-purpose character break >changing classes shouldn't be free after unlock >support/assist range needs to be gimped >option to turn off the red meme lines, because they dont only show where the enemy is gonna attack(and they dont even work as intended because that still changes) but they also show then the enemy is making weird decisions like ignoring a 3HP unit to attack a full HP one
Chase Gonzalez
Super bosses
Essentially like the final boss's but harder and lasting 20+ turns just fighting one thing. Maybe add an extra phase for Lunatic where some students will die no matter how good you play and give that difficulty unique cutscenes upon death. Defeating super bosses adds cosmetics, new unique class unlocks for ng+, etc.
Grayson Moore
This I never played other fire emblem games other than some GBA one on emulator years ago but for a tactics game the AI is retarded. But I feel like they purposely make it this way just because perma death is a thing.
I'd be okay with gambits being one shots only if they made monsters less obnoxious
Matthew Hall
is there an option to not have shit unit models? the design for beginner and intermediate were alright, but advanced master and unique classes were all overdesigned garbage
Lysithea is wasting her little time left when she is rude to people though. Imagine spending your life being hostile to everyone and having no friends.
Byleth isn't really meant for other builds though because of his/her unique class. The main point of Byleth's skills is to focus on the skills you need to recruit other students. That being said though, it is admittedly a shitty way to handle it.
But user how will i self-insert into the MC if he actually has his own mind/voice? Add more dialogue options/reactions to events? That would be way too much writing.
Asher Johnson
i found it alot easier to self insert as byleth then corrin, kris, or robin.
I honestly want fatigue to return from Thracia. I don't know why they never brought it back.
William Robinson
The dialogue usually feels way too limiting to self-insert, aswell as just how others respond to you, to the point id rather they just be their own characters. Granted if my choice is between this and another corrin ill setlle for this anytime. But it can be done well, just got to be able to have interactions that arent basically talking to a brick wall that only responds in 5 word replies
Jaxson Hall
You don’t exist
Easton Sanders
Would Yea Forums pay for a DLC that costs $29.99 where you go back in time and already know how everything is going to turn out. In this 5th route you call Edelgard out for her being a genocidal maniac before she gets a chance to become one, you save Jeralt and convince Rhea slowly disband the church. No one dies except for the slithers and everyone lives happily ever after.
Aaron Stewart
It was cool, but also dumb that they put an Arena right next to a shop you could buy Stamina potions from so you could just grind that shit and never be affected by Stamina.
I like it since it makes you change your teams and think a little about who you deploy.
I'd pay for that not to happen.
Jace Reed
>edelgard >getting along with anyone
not happening.
Cooper Garcia
>sticking your fries in somebody else's softserve Is she autistic?
Theyd have to bringing in a completely different route, new maps, and up the writing to make it worth that price as thats likely going to end up retarded without a lot of asspulling.
Christopher Torres
Or we can have a scenario where you repeat the same month over and over until you solve the mystery. Maybe Sothis isn't all powerful, maybe everyone thinks shes a god because she just knows everything.
Christian Hernandez
3H is great because it doesn't try to set up an obvious golden route. Stop trying to force it in because it's not a good idea
Angel Morris
Not him but I would unironically wouldn't mind more Kozaki His girls are cute and sexy and it's a shame the writing does little justice for how good they are
If your first playthrough was on Hard, then you'd see why Explore is the way it is. The game was perfectly balanced around Hard mode. The problem with Explore is when you play on Easy or any difficulty NG+. Everything is so piss easy and you out-level the system so fast that most of the game's activities are frivolous. I'm on Chapter 12 with every single recruitable character, nearly everyone has at least one A+ skill, supports are nearly all maxed out, and mobs are ~5 levels lower than me unless it's a legendary boss map. Why explore? Why seminar? Why battle? Resting twice a month is more efficient at this point.
She's busted goods.
Levi Hall
turnwheel/divine pulse is a mistake and only appeals to the casual crowd, what is the point of a tactical game where your unit placement does not matter because you have 1 save states
monastery exploring feels shadllow and was only made to burn time
but people loved these 2 things so expect it to be the norm for future games, expect thracia remake with divine pulse
Brody Stewart
Am I playing Ghost Trick, or FE? The fuck?
Jaxon Martin
This is honestly why I don't want to romance my own house. The Byleth scenes are by far the least interesting. I guess I'll pick Shamir or Catherine.
Eli Howard
>support conversations have some slight variations depending on when they take place I'm surprised that they put in the extra effort
Angel Watson
Doesn't refute the fact that he'd be the 2nd best choice for an FE repeat artist. Wada and Kita's work, while good for when I first saw it, doesn't really do it for me anymore and their styles don't really gel with how modern anime looks, evidence being their feh artwork.
Parker Perez
Wada's work still holds up, Kita's I'm not so sure.
But I'd take either of them over Kozaki and his piss poor attempts at lighting, Brave Veronica looks like fucking ASS, she looks like a robot.
Austin Reed
Divine Pulse is there to appeal to savescummers. Instead of resetting when your Homer gets luckshit ballista'd on turn 30 you click one button to undo the turn. Casuals get to feel like a big boy on hard mode, neckbeards get to not be mad at bullshit RNG ruining their map
Liam Kelly
>one of Leonie's crit lines is "You're fricked!" I don't know if it's more funny or stupid.
Pulse is fine if its limited to once or twice a map or even make it a set limit for the entire game. The amount the game throws at you is more a problem then its function.
Monastary is indeed shit and wasted potential though, needed way more stuff to do to keep it engaging, especially in part 2.
Michael Hughes
I'm contemplating the same thing. He's my favorite character so far which I really didn't expect him to be. I want my bro to have the best and Marianne seems like a natural fit, but Lysithea is tempting too. I'll probably stick to non-students.
Blake Phillips
get your own dad you orange with legs
Joseph Wilson
There should have been some recruitable Agarthan units.
Your post was a step in the right direction, but I'll give you a few ideas of what fire emblem fans really want
>There are no battles >It's just sixty five hours of hentai involving every combination of characters >Also you can pay real money for a chance to get different outfits randomly for random characters
Leo Gonzalez
There is some neat details like that. Characters will change their meal lines with one another deoending on their support rank and each character has a unique line for when they become level 99.
Nolan Parker
I feel like superbosses don't really work in an FE game because of the extremely restrictive attack ranges on a grid-based map and each unit only has a small amount of options available that can only really offer a small handful of tactic loops if you're only fighting a single enemy. Most of your units are going to be melee so it really restricts how you can change up the fight. You could get a bit more flexibility in that regard if all of your units had ranged attacks but in the case of FE, that would be horrible design to put in a boss that demands you use nothing but ranged classes and effectively punishes you for ever having bothered to train a melee character, even though the rest of the game is balanced around having a mix.
Superbosses where spend multiple turns fighting a single thing would work much better in a game like XCOM where you aren't as limited by range and thus there is more flexibility in how you position units for offense, defense, and evasion. FE is an alright series but its core mechanics, even with all of the new fluff mechanics they try with each new game, just don't offer the tactical depth required for superbosses to work. Just look at any of the giant beasts and how straightforward those are. The tactic is always distract, surround, break its barriers, and then annihilate it as it sits there helpless.
Jayden Smith
Scrap Three Houses and use Fates as a base to improve upon. The gameplay in Fates is still the best this series has ever seen.
Dylan Cruz
Thracia would like a word with you
Colton Nelson
>find a way to rebalance armored units They are for shitters who want to play the slow bait and smother strategy to get through groups of enemies, they are fine and there are ways to bring them to the front line already presented in the series anyways >make the harder difficulties harder in a tactical sense. FE only gets "tactical" when you are trying to speed your way through the map while still hitting as many side objectives as you can Play FE12 lunatic/reverse and you'll see that when you buff the enemies to adequate levels the standard approach doesn't work because your units won't survive 2-3 hits even at the end game, and avoid tanking doesn't work because hit rates are high enough. You NEED to punch through or else you'll get swarmed and lose units
Blake Garcia
Looks about right.
Eli Kelly
A game where you run a merchant caravan as an Anna.
I wish they'd make rally unit work with dance, ie give the rally effect to unit who get danced. Would make unit like Anette really strong as buffer.
Asher Nguyen
Kaga why did you make Thracia on the fucking SNES download shit.
Ayden Baker
i dont get why they nerfed rally/seal effects to begin with. Both were perfect last game outside of bs skills like inevitable end
Jackson Martinez
Fuck your golden route you fucking pussy. Instead we should get a dark route where the Slithers win and all that's left are stragglers struggling to survive. Also Nemesis can join you if you can convince the unga.
Colton Peterson
Special Dance.
David Cook
>Ahh yes I do love it when my staff misses, when reinforcements spawn right on top of me and can move immediately, when I engage an "essential" enemy that's unkillable but can kill me, warp tiles etc.
Said no one ever. Trashia is a clusterfuck of bad design and should justifiably be forgotten.
Isaac Hughes
>that ignatz kek
Jaxon Sanders
begone slitherfag
Blake Wilson
speed is cool but dex and luck is m'eh. Meanwhile anette get rally str speed and resistance
Hunter Torres
Look guys we've got a small brain over here.
Boy I sure love gimmick city, nothing like pure strategy of flying on the fucking wind.
I know it's not really the "Fire Emblem" way, but I kind of want a absurd amount of classes again. I enjoyed the crazy amounts of shit there was in the Fates game and I kinda want that back to some degree. It feels like Three Houses is all kind of limiting in what flavors of horse I'm gonna eventually have most of my units become.
Be interesting to see what strategy is recommended for harder modes. Seems like things such leveling heavy armor for mages just so they can unlock fortress and get free defense boost will be required.
Asher Hughes
Cavalry is everything my friend.
Adrian Mitchell
>not wanting to taste Lysithea's cream
Mason Ortiz
Yo, what if i made Dimitri into a dodge tank?
+20 Avoid from his upgraded passive post timeskip, + 20 Avoid from dancer, +30 from Alert Stance, +10 from Wyvern lord.
Cameron Edwards
It feels like some classes are missing in 3H, hope they can add them in DLC or something. Pegasus not having an advanced class is pretty weird for example. There's also no non-mounted Lance focused classes like Halberdier or Sentinel. Troubadour/Valkyrie would be really good classes to train riding easier for mages going into Dark/Holy Knight. Hope they don't just add Dread Fighter as a master class and call it a day
Christian Cook
Lots of flying Lots of gambit cheese Lots of warping
Nathan Bell
Sometimes they don't though. Was a little jarring for Cyril's B rank to take place post time skip. So he talks about how he's keeping everything clean and tidy for Rhea, even though half the roof is collapsed behind him.
Wyatt King
Why though? He’s best used to one shot bosses as a flier
I suspect if they keep this system for future games, they'll start feeding classes back in. Hell, this system works even better for more classes since your characters have more freedom.
Personally, I hope they let you choose what spells characters learn, even if it's from a limited list.
John Perry
Why not? GHe would likely still oneshot everything since he got retard strenght.
>that quest where they both want you to give it to them and you have to choose Ladies please, there's enough of ME for both of you, who says you can't eat two cakes at once?
>for mages going into dark/holy knight Holy shit yes.
It's annoying that nearly all the master classes that are mounted come from classes that aren't mounted, so you have zero reason to train horses except just for the master class. I suspect they'll probably added more lower tier horse classes. I also hope they have stronger penalties for mounted classes, they are just too strong. No dismount would be a start.
Benjamin Ortiz
>Boy I sure love gimmick city, As if Tracia isn't filled to the brim with gimmick shit. The difference being that most of Tracia's gimmicks are ingrained into its shitty game design.
You can improve upon Fates by removing gimmicks and still preserving it's top tier gameplay mechanics but you can't do that with Trashia without changing or utterly removing parts of its core design.
Justin Walker
but you just described one of the best and big brained maps in cq. you disgrace wholesome hoyboys with your shitposting.
Kevin Walker
i like the current way with character learning a spell list since that keeps them unique. Still i'd also like items/equippable that grant a specific spell, either a charm or whatever that grant it while equipped or a spellbook that permanently teach it.
Juan Jenkins
>No matter which house you picked, the silver bow is always more appealing than the silver sword How does she do it?
Jace Davis
There's nothing big brained about just flying to the boss in 3 turns and slapping his shit.
Jack Reed

Camden Gray
>It was originally going to be possible that Annette and Felix would defect to Cornelia's army in the Blue Lions route I wonder if that was guaranteed or just something that can happen, like Dedue's death. >Hating the wind valley What's wrong with you, that map was great
Joseph Sullivan
Alright people, Listen up.
Hanneman.
Warmaster with Aura Knuckles.
Nolan Robinson
I feel like Byleth being related to Nemesis would've been a better story for him than a crest stone implant
Noah Ortiz
I imagine it was something that would happen unless you do their paralogue. Shame they didn't implement it, it would really drive home the 'I don't want to do this' that the war arc is meant to make you feel.
Alexander Nelson
Why does Felix have a better Strenght frowth than resident big guys Dedue and Raphael?
I understand he is fueled by weapon grade autism but that still feels not right
Hudson Brown
No level ups would make an interesting SRPG, but a big part of Fire Emblem is watching your units grow (be it with level ups, promoting, supports or something else). Taking levelling out would change the feel of the game (I would be okay with that, but I'm not sure most people would).
Asher Anderson
More defections should have happened honestly. Specially in instances where you grabbed up all the students, makes no sense that almost all of them are happy to drop all their stuff to go back the very day after you get back.
Brody Diaz
Where do you get aura knuckles? Is it just in the shop?
Aiden Miller
Divine pulse is perfect the way it is. People will reset if they lose a unit this is a fact. All it does is save you time, divine pulse has been in every single game ever created, only difference is this one saves you time.
Sebastian Martin
All of them get hit with a -5/10 SPD growth rate
Ryder Hernandez
Troubadour/Mage Knight/Valkyrie are some of the oldest classes in Fire Emblem, it's honestly strange they didn't include them
Jacob Allen
I could tell at the beginning I was probably going to warm up to Seteth a little bit, but I've really ended up liking him. Probably my favorite non-student member except for Shamir.
you craft them from steel, if memory serves. I know you can make killer knuckles from iron, and reach 100% crit on warmaster with them, but i'm going for Hanneman in a leather outfit.
Jordan Morgan
Maybe give you less than 10 charges like you get once you finish Sothis's paralogue. Having a few charges is a nice in case something unexpected happens.
Having 10+ lets you just get lazy
John Gonzalez
Honestly I agree.
I feel weird calling the game easy, I feel like it's harder to keep units fully safe in TH but at the same time divine pulse allows you to not have to fully worry about a death. If there was no divine pulse I feel this game would be pretty tough on a hard/classic run where you don't allow deaths.
Cooper Martinez
Well, we could still be a descendant of Nemesis.
Jack Watson
Honestly feel like none of the BE students aside from Hubert and maybe Linhardt should've wanted to join you if you side with Edelgard. When you take her side your group should've been comprised of shit like Death Knight and those Imperial generals that show up after the attempted Holy Tomb robbery Edelgard isn't very ambitious
Is there a place for them as the classes are right now? Mounted staff users who can also use Light magic, maybe even throw in swords since Ethlyn and Mist both used swords
Robert Ortiz
*Edelgard route, I meant
Tyler Anderson
Their functions exist in 3h already, if Holy Knight was called valkyrie and mortal savant mage knight you would not be making this complaint
Joshua Foster
The new byleth voice hasn't been patched in yet has it?
Angel Lopez
I can see Petra siding with Edelgard, and Ferdinand flip-flopping between either joining or not.
Parker Ross
>throwing away the whole class Okay that's going a little overboard buddy.
Jacob Murphy
>3 turns >casual cool thanks I'm free to disregard your shit take on fuga's wild ride.
Nathan Gutierrez
revamp the class system, TH's system is dogshit and so are most of the master classes, what was even the point of these, only Bow Knight and the pegasus master class feel like actual upgrades, and add more classes, dark seal is useless make divine pulse a total of 3 times, or have the times you can divine pulse be reduced depending on the difficulty you pick, its hard to ignore and makes the game braindead easy and I agree, thats a whole lotta supports, I was at 80 hours when I finished my first run because of this
Joseph Turner
Agreed, i really hoped edel's route was going to be you/hubert/edel/a handful of anti-crest people along the way like lys who has some legit motive to join up. And the rest would be the named empire generals/death knight. Rest would have to be convinced based on previous support ranks and the like
Easton Moore
Better than having a shit take on an entire game
Mason Barnes
I dunno it was very jarring seeing characters like Ferdinand and Dorothea just being okay with starting a war across Fodlan. Their supports with Edelgard help somewhat to alleviate this dissonance but not enough for me personally
Aaron Wood
Petra seems pretty confident in joining her. Linhard, Casper, and Bernie though all never wanted to be there, Casper tells you he doesn't understand politics and just got forced into it when you fight him.
Samuel Turner
>thats a whole lotta supports Why would you want less content in your game? Why not just skip the support scenes you're not interested in?
Juan Walker
i could play this level normally
OR I COULD USE THE WARP STAFF
Jaxon White
>Three Houses was a step in the right direction Stoppped reading here.
No, it wasn´t, it´s otomeshit with even MORE dumbded down gameplay than Awakening.
John Cooper
Mounted mage with swords sounds like a class tailor made for Lysithea and Marianne. Could be an option to class into instead of priest/bishop, trade healing power for a horse
Kevin Anderson
Conquest or Echoes?
Jaxson Russell
Echoes.
Better Art, Story, Music and Characters if you exclude Celica.
Tyler Murphy
>it´s otomeshit with even MORE dumbded down gameplay than Awakening. Stopped reading right here.
Nathaniel Walker
Yes I would because they're still master classes. There should be an option for mounted mages before level 30
Charles Hill
For gameplay id say conquest, just go in with the expectation every bit of writing is shit. For everything else, echoes
Jace Hill
Maps at the expense of story, or story at the expense of maps?
Caleb Harris
do you want an above average tactics game that borders on a puzzle game at times with shit writing or do you want a story first game with shit gameplay
Julian Green

Jonathan Williams
>Having magic with horse range and canto is pointless >Having general with horse range is pointless user... On top of that, you have wyvern master which is a straight upgrade, Gremory which is the best of both worlds, Warmaster which is the same, etc etc. The only one that feels potentially pointless to me is Immortal savant Dark Seal classes are a chore I'll admit, though poison strike is great.
But why would you want LESS supports? Less content? Just skip the ones you don't care about. And unless you recruited and maxed out supports between literally everyone, I have no idea how you hit 80 hours. I comfortably got a lot of A rank supports unlocked within my house with a save at like 40 hours.
Caleb Williams
because I fear I might miss important stuff about the characters im watching the supports of, but a lot of them just drive home the same points, Annette likes to sing so they make 4 supports with that same theme, Lysinthea is dying so they make 5 supports with that same theme, it gets tiresome, and you learn nothing new
Austin Morris
t. fujo.
Daniel Cook
to be fair if you're worried you might not learn everything about the characters in fire emblem three houses, you definitely don't have anything better to do with your time and should just watch the cutscenes
>they logically didn't put a bunch of really vital character details in the completely optional supports yet I kept using my time to watch them, so they should just get rid of most of them even though other people enjoyed this content that I chose to keep spending time on Hmm, I never thought of it like that.
Angel Garcia
How about shit to actually do? Or graphics from the year 2016? Or stories that aren't shit? Or like Byleth's tits on my face?
Nathan Kelly
Homosexual?
Joshua Myers
im not saying its pointless, but the progression to it is, I did for Golden Deers a horse only playthrough, or I planned, but none of the horse classes outside the Master ones can use magic, so It took a long time to get them in horses, and yes, the canto is nice but the growth rates become absolute shit once they get to the master classes I got no use out of poison strike and saw it quickly replaced, and fine, the classes are upgrades, its the progression of the classes that bothers me
I want less monastery like shit. Or at least just make it a menu or something, I like persona but I don't want to play Persona when I play FE.
Also stop with self insert mc. Make a real main character pls
Cameron Myers
Go back to the mirror world you freak.
Nathan Long
kill Kusakihara's gaiden boner or stop letting him direct mechanics and level design. this faggot is going to kill any semblance of tactics if he keeps directing. let him oversee writing, let Maeda handle gameplay. best of both worlds.
Josiah Williams
I like to learn about the characters when the chance comes, not by watching cutscenes, thats dumb, I started speedreading through them after my first playthrough >repeating the same thing over and over again on a ton of supports is good and should be kept in order to waste your time with stuff you knew about already at least try to keep them fresh, Eagles especially had a ton of boring supports
Caleb Thomas
>Every unit now has a battalion at all times >Battalions take stances that effect stats and usually come with an orientation that they face in >Charm effects the effectiveness of your own stances and exaggerates flaws in enemy stances >Crits now only do 1.5 times damage instead of the triple damage near-guaranteed instakills that they are now >Some classes have skills to increase crit damage >Crit chance is hugely influenced by battalion orientation, with 180 degree flanks near-guaranteeing crits
Basically, make crits easier to strategize around in battle. As it is now, it's too easy for the player to get sky-high crit just through stats and items. Enemies getting a lucky crit is almost guaranteed to be a death sentence for whatever unit eats it unless they're a general at the moment, but hopefully these changes mean playing poorly means you eat more crits.
>Cut warp because its fucking busted in every game it shows up in >Spell casts are back to being consumable like weapons, no more spamming psychic with your staff bitch from the other side of the map every fight
I'd also like to see more classes influence battalions. Classes like Hero partially specializing in authority and getting an extra gambit use seems obvious and thematically appropriate, but you could also have a Legionaire class that could spend a gambit charge to change tiles into road tiles, or Warriors could do extreme bonus damage to battalion health thanks to their rough and tumble combat style. You could also have a Sapper unit that always has access to the Blaze gambit, and maybe even let Blaze be used on walls to blow them up, or use them on forests to burn them to the ground.
Basically I think battalions are fucking sick and they're the best addition to the series since support networks. Most of my specific ideas are probably dogshit, but its definitely the element of the series as of Three Houses with the most potential for evolving the series on a tactical level.
>Also stop with self insert mc. Make a real main character pls This is the biggest issue with the entire game. Byleth says almost nothing of interest, and because of that most of the characters have really lifeless dialogue with Byleth. And no, having people in universe addressing the fact that Byleth is really emotionless doesn't excuse it.
Josiah Martin
I mean you keep posting homosexual images.
Jonathan Kelly
whats the deal with that couch anyways? I heard it was some Yea Forums meme
Ayden Long
Magic is a bit too strong in 3H I feel. Enemies have so little res that the best weapon most of the time is a levin sword/bolt axe. Having 3 range makes them great for fighting archers as well. There's also the magical combat arts that deal a fuckton of damage. Hope they add like 10+ res to all enemies on Lunatic/Infernal
Levi Gutierrez
It's weird because while Robin in awakening was more customizable, he still had more of a presence and personality than Byleth does.
Elijah Russell
I'd like them to take a page out of the XCOM series playbook, where the base is completely menu-driven, but going through it cycles the view to different areas of the army camp, and a lot of work has gone into making it feel lived in.
Leo Wilson
>And no, having people in universe addressing the fact that Byleth is really emotionless doesn't excuse it.
It's even worse when they start saying hes starting to emote more, or those support convos that point out some out of the ordinary expression he puts on but of course we cant be shown that. Telling character growth almost never comes off as well as simply showing it, and just having him smile more is hardly showing much of anything.
Adam Bennett
Mages are squishy
Jeremiah Wood
>dragon inside her never showed herself to her >it was linked to the fact she was less emotional to the point it made her robotic >lolibabba changes byleth and so do the students >w..why is it now emoting? You people are retarded You know what bothers me? When and ONLY in Edelchan's route Byleth almost dies for using her powers and loli dragon saves her/leaves her body and THEN THEN Byleth is emotional!
Caleb Foster
A some tactics games make character stats mostly a product of their gear. I'd be interested in a Fire Emblem game that had stats that came almost entirely from gear, and the onus was on the player to prioritize getting the gear they wanted on the campaign-level scale. Shit like guerilla attacks on enemy forges to grab weapons, etcetera. If nothing else it'd be a nice break from weakening enemy units to dripfeed experience around your party for the thousandth time.
Julian Cooper
Probably crest reasons if you want to headcanon out lore
Carson Hill
Edelgard isn't, she kills more enemies with a bolt axe+ than with Aymr. There's a lot of other tanky units that have good magic growths in this game. Just make them fliers with Alert Stance+ to never get hit or if you don't care about movement just make them into armors for that sweet defense bonus. It's stupid how good the magic weapons are
Leo Gonzalez
Claude also has more strength.
Justin Ross
Edelgard isn't a mage. She is one of 4 broken characters.
Dylan Green
>>Add Muskets and Cannons to the ranged weapons roster. What would be the gameplay niche for these? A line of musket fire might makes sense as a gambit now that battalions have been introduced, but it just seems like a bow with more fluff.
Nobody will miss Constitution right. it was a shit mechanic.
Benjamin Howard
I understand the plot reason for it. Doesnt mean i have to like it, and even once you start "emoting" again its incredibly minor, for the most part its just a smile. Byleth needed more/longer interactions with others, specially after skip to really show off any changes.
Also showing those out of the ordinary emotions pre-skip would have done well to show some humanity to the otherwise robotic mc.
James Johnson
DUDE JERALT LMAO
Cooper Russell
You don't have to be a mage to have a magic stat. All the weapons that run off magic are way too strong due to enemies having low resistance. You do more damage with 20 magic and a levin sword than you do with 40 strength and a silver sword. That's the issue
Jackson Price
I'd love it if just a single one of the crit lines in a later Fire Emblem game said something as wildly out of place as "suck my balls" or something.
Ferdinand should've gone fucking nuclear after Edelgard seizes his assets, with you being forced to recruit him in the field with Byleth to get him to come back.
Leo Williams
allow me to fuck seteth as a male
Aaron Sullivan
Wasn't Petra a war prisoner? How come I learn how to RIDE her better and she is suddenly free?
Luis Davis
Someone so old should surely be down to experiment
Gavin Torres
Seteth is a stick in the mud
Tyler Morris
Petra was a political prisoner, not a war prisioner and with Edelgard suddenly taking the throne and starting a 2-3 front war the empire probably had more important things to focus on.
Kevin Myers
Well, fair enough, but maybe something like super-boss maps? Maps that are gimmicky to the point of being unfair?
Christian Gray
>makes no sense that almost all of them are happy to drop all their stuff to go back the very day after you get back. You show up on the day everyone in your class (even the students you stole) promised to meet up, no matter what. There's only a couple fuckers like Ashe and Lorenz that break the promise.
Does Ashe not rejoin if you recruited him on another route?
I'd think he'd happily take to Edelgard's campaign since his adoptive father died fighting the church
Aiden James
Every FE has good core mechanics, imo, it's just a matter of map quality and direction. Fates didn't even have that good of gameplay if you include Birthright and Revelations. The main thing that made Conquest good was gimmicky map design that created really esoteric situations, as well as the maid units that prevented over-leveled units from steamrolling by offering an option to weaken them over time. You can have all of that using 3H's core mechanics, for instance >have to fight against infinite spawning "crowd" units from certain entrances >you can pacify the crowds using gambits or just place units in the entrance ways wherein they'll take constant attacks >meanwhile you have to deal with fighting actual enemies in the rest of the map Or >have to fight unbeatable horror-game style enemies while moving units around to solve puzzles to get your units out of there. I'm just throwing out ideas but the point is the more gimmicky and specific the map idea, the better
Lucas Taylor
>doing Rhea's B support >she asks if I've encountered anything odd >tell her about Sothis >suddenly Sothis' support level says it went down What the fuck why
Juan Roberts
a resign button. with GBA/SNES hardcore/permadeath was fast to flip the power switch and be back in things, now with 3DS and Switch games its much slower to have to back out of the game, close the application, open the application, wait for it to load, wade through start screens and save loads, and FINALLY be at beginning of level. not major issue in 3houses due to being relatively easy, but ill be fucked if it wasnt annoying in the last ones on 3DS
Isaac Price
Did you spec into spears?
Cooper Cruz
In GD he shows up on the volcano map, even if you recruited him beforehand. Yeah. I made Byleth a peg knight that run.
Adrian Rivera
Lorenz leaves in BL and church. Ashe joins up with Rowe (allied with Edelgard) in GD and church.
Asher Lewis
DO NOT POST THIS COMIC
Hudson Taylor

Zachary Taylor
Because you snitched on her. SNITCH!
Alexander Ortiz
Either greatly improve the explore options in the monastery or cut it out entirely. There is so little to actually do besides talking to everyone once a month.
Wyatt Brooks
Lorenz is like the first one to show up aside from Claude
Jacob Hernandez
>(even the students you stole)
Thats the part i dont agree with honestly, since narrative wise only your class made that promise, i understand that they cant show every single student since they cant account for how many other house students you have but still. And honestly having 1 or 2 of the main class not be able to show until later in the campaign would have been fine too.
Nathaniel Gray
Yeah, but I assume your units stay dead
Connor Robinson
Imagine if there was no Divine Pulse? How many times would you have to reset because of AI changing targets or getting memed on by 3% crits? It's just convenience, shut the fuck up and stop whining you fucking faggot.
Amount of uses should be lower imo though. Maybe once you got Sword of the Creator you have to use up its durability to use Divine Pulse and can only repair it once a month.
Nicholas Butler
>he used the "He's a stranger to me" dialogue >he feels bad every time somebody posts this Hehehe
Josiah Sullivan
Well the other students you poached ARE in your class, even if they don't appear in cutscenes.
Might have been cool if you'd see them standing behind the rest during crowd shots, but oh well.
Benjamin Perez
I also like Divine Pulse since I see it more as an information tool, what with crit chances being locked in at the beginning of every turn. It ends up being more of a learning tool for most people
Jason Kelly
The one time I used it, it brought me back to the monastery battle page and I didn't spend the time unit, so I imagine you revert all progress and any deaths
Andrew Allen
>Imagine if there was no Divine Pulse? How many times would you have to reset because of AI changing targets or getting memed on by 3% crits? Zero. Game was easy.
Anthony Campbell
I THOUGHT I WOULD BE FUNNY, I DID NOT THINK ID HURT MY DAD'S FEELINGS i'm actually of the opinion that byleth being an overly stoic mute and that being worked into the story is a good thing

>Might have been cool if you'd see them standing behind the rest during crowd shots With how low fucking budget this game is lol no. >fishing doesn't even show the fished you caught >ps2 graphics >literally no minigames outside fishing >same 3 lines for all townspeople >Byleth's tits not being on my face 24/7.
Samuel Moore
Because Sothis hates her crazy mommy-obsessed daughter
Tyler Torres
i agree with most of your points. the main game didn't really need it, but i feel like some of the paralogues were basically balanced around having divine pulse since there are a couple with scripted encounters with reinforcements showing up and being able to move in the same turn, which would be completely bullshit without divine pulse. that said, I agree 2 or 3 seems like more than enough, i level up the statues and ended up with like 10 charges by mid-game somehow
i also think the rpg/vn elements need to be severely streamlined, it did not take long for me to get extremely tired of exploration days/micromanaging lessons/goals. there should just be ONE day between missions where you do exploration/rpgshit/paralogues
the maps/map variety were pretty fucking shitty too, there are so many recycled maps, have of which were basically just boring, empty fields where your units all start together in one spot. paralogues were more interesting with sometimes having your group start split up like the manuela one, but main game rarely did that, just occassionally had two paths so your units could split up into squads. picking smaller sqauds to divide and conquer is like the peak of these games IMO, i wish more of the maps encouraged this kind of game play with diverging/parallel paths
Kayden Nelson
Ashe couldn't make it to the reunion. He was being a TRUE KNIGHT LIKE LORD LONATO.
when you first come to that choice you literally have no idea what your relationship is to jeralt, it's not that unreasonable. i actually picked "he's my dad" as a joke thinking it would get a funny reaction from my boss, but turns out he was actually my dad
Jordan Howard
Really im just saying i find it odd how just in the scenerio you poach all the other students, none but i think lorenz and ashe have any prior allegiance to their own country and might decide to defect back to that. You could still get them back if support was high enough in most cases but surely more than 2 of them would go back to defend their home nations
Jace Clark
Divine Pulse is needed because FE isn't a strict strategic game. It has RNG, levelling, and all this extra shit to it. It treats all your units likes aces, so you never want to lose them or send them out in situations you know won't be in your favor or their death. If they were just faceless mooks that don't tie you down with plot or gameplay hooks than maybe the games would be better? But that also helped shape up everyone to the nuFE style, so I don't know how to fix it.
I'm not asking for any casual mode or the game to be a strict strategy game, but something about FE doesn't fit quite right.
I was the same here, the hair color through me off I assumed byleth was just some random amnesiac kid in the field that he took
Christopher Hill

With N+ it really doesn't fucking matter.
Gabriel Sullivan
I don't know. I think his eyes are too big. I think the artist tried to make him look more childish, but his face just looks like an adult baby. He kind of reminds me of during puberty, when their faces are full of pimples. He's transitioning from cute and he's stuck in this uncanny middle.
Maybe another artist could draw him better, but in TH, he just looks awful. Timeskip looks terrible too.
>mproves their AI so they use gambits more They use gambits enough I think, they just have shitty ones that don't matter. Give them shit like stride, always counter or the 1 damage gambit instead. Or just give them the bigger aoe ones like poison tactic at the very least
Christian Ramirez
*skips*
Liam Miller
I must say that I completely forgot weapon arts were a thing during most of my playthrough. Did anyone actually use them?
Joshua Collins
Dumbass

A lot, some are extremely usefull.
Michael Wood
They started off useful but quickly drop off outside a few niche scenerios as doubling is usually the better way to go.
Aiden Wright
>Timeskip looks terrible too. He looks good. Better than 3D's. At least he doesn't have that gay ass haircut ignatz does.
Christopher Rivera
>How many times would you have to reset because of AI changing targets or getting memed on by 3% crits? >tfw fucking CYRIL charged Byleth, missed three times, and finally crit Byleth with a 1% crit chance on the final Black Eagles map >Only happened because I was trying to get Shamir to kill him to see if they had dialogue Unironically fuck that nigger
They didn't have dialogue
Chase Bell
Meme builds like pegasus knight Marianne need them. Also your archers should be using deadeye/encloser. Even non-archers get use out of the 3 range on curved shot.
Jaxson Martin
Early on, a lot. Only in specific sotuatons later.
Dominic Brooks
I only used the archer ones in the late game

Austin Flores
She hates duscur natives because they massacred a bunch of Faergus citizens, including Ingrid's fiance. (Duscur wasn't actually responsible, but yeah).
It just kinda sticks out that Ingrid hates Duscur natives, as no other students seem to, at least not as an explicit character trait.
Aiden Long
Ingrid's fiance was brutally murdered by people from Duscur so she carries a grudge against them and treats Dedue like shit because of it.
Gavin Rodriguez
This only convinces me Ingrid is the best girl
Robert Walker
>Dying to Cyril How do you even wake up every day user?
Austin Brown
>but make it like the older games where you have to pay attention to dialogue and circumstance to figure out who to talk to them with
Nah, fuck that. It's retarded to have to restart a map just because you didn't deploy the right unit for the recruitable unit.
David Watson
Thanks. I guess I will use her when I play the BL route at my last choice
Kayden Torres
What if they were like indirects in advance wars where you can’t move an attack on the same turn but they have a lot of range and do a lot of damage? Idk if that would work in a game like fire emblem but it’s an idea
Christopher Young
>treats Dedue like shit because of it. Only at Support C. She comes to realize he is a nice person and that she has been a twat.

I mean that shouldn't be why you use her. You should use her because she's a monster of a pegasus knight.

In the year 2000, no less. When the GAMECUBE was nearly out.
Grayson Campbell
This is the real change we need. MORE THAN 1 WAIFU AT A TIME
Aaron Parker
halfway through the game i was consistently benching her but holy fuck is she a godsend as a falco knight in the end when every fucking map has a million mages including the ones with meteor/the mage balista thing
Dylan Allen
>two characters argue throughout support >"support level C achieved!"
Cooper Taylor
I don't think any games in the whole genre will truly be fixed until devs start doing away with whole-army movement per turn. Lots of maps degenerate into one strategy: moving all units just out of lethal range then steamrolling everything on your turn, baiting trash AI to walk into your durable units as necessary.
Jason Sanders
end your laifu
Ayden Rogers
Byleth's face in the bottom panel is fucking killing me dude
Mason Bell
So you want a FFT style speed system? Because it's been done a million times before
Carson Davis
Conquest does it alright with enemies that can't be baited or the first available tile being targetable by 5 units at the same time Or the ninjas that take off 40% of your health by engaging combat from 3 tiles away through a wall.
Guys I'm playing FE6 and training Wendy because I want another tank. 9 turns in a map, she's dead from a single unit 2 shotting her. Going by the autists in this thread, I am going to restart and do exactly what I've done for 7 turns, then be more of a coward on the 8th.
Is this peak Fire Emblem?
Parker Price
>play any route >recruit and use all of the cute girls instead of the students in my house
Are you not emulating it? Just abuse save states until she gets decent level-ups, lmao.
Easton Lee
They're really good, so yes.
They're still really good for low speed units like Armor Knights. Hell, my Byleth used them a lot because he got speed screwed. The real disappointment was the fact that triangle attack is so awful in this game. It doesn't even get a cool animation.
Tyler White
So we've agreed that three houses saved Fire Emblem right?
Liam Hill
Smite almost fixed armors. What it needs to be is they can end their turn pushing forward two-three spaces.
It's just so silly that to this day to properly position them requires another unit entirely to blow its turn, or to spend a valuable Boots on them.
Josiah Ramirez
What month is the timeskip happening? Getting sick of this shit
Landon Powell
>Three Houses was a step in the right direction anyone saying this has only played this game.
Connor Taylor
Literally any step away from Fates is a step in the right direction.
Evan Gray
you soft reset in 3H with L R + -, you dumb faggot.
Christian Rogers
>He thinks the monastery activities end with the timeskip Timeskip is month 3 / chapter 12.
Adam Cook
I want to say third month of the new year, could be wrong though. The game changes far less than you'd hope.
Three Houses was a step in the right direction after Fates.
Kayden Ramirez
Fire emblem was never in need of saving Echoes is great, Conquest had the best gameplay in the series, Awakening was kind of mediocre but absolutely necessary to prevent it from nearly dying People are just whiney babies and glorify the old shit as always
Jaxson Lewis
I just don't get it. I know FE is a power-fantasy with the guise of a strategy game, but why introduce me a low level unit I can recruit that is so weak? Especially a tank that can't tank. She can't hit for shit, and for a tank, being 2 shotted by a throwing axe unit is just baffling. She wasn't even being surrounded and had full health, but one unit just pushed her shit in.
Gabriel Nguyen
Fates has what is possibly the worst story in any Fire Emblem game. That includes the ones with almost 0 story, mind you. A change was needed, at the very least, in the writing department.
Cameron Campbell
Echoes has shit gameplay and Conquest is only 1/3 of an entire game. Also, everything besides the gameplay in Conquest was trash.
Justin Hill
>its hard to ignore lol literally admitting to being a casual faggot.
You don't want to ignore it because you know Pulses is a QoL that adds convenience to the game.
Who the fuck wants to sit through one hour re-doing a map because they lost a unit to a meme crit? Nobody. that's why Pulses exist.
Benjamin Watson
CQ gameplay is trash, the no dura weapons with shit buffs system was horrible, and bows and magic being in the WT was fucking retarded.
Jeremiah Garcia
>Recruit option grayed out for Ingrid right after I achieve C support with her >not grayed out for other characters and it stills me what stats they value What does this mean? How do I recruit her now?
William Hall
I got multiple supports that were surprisingly nice >Dorothea and Sylvain >Felix and Lysithea >Lorenz and Cathrine
I guess Ferdinand and Marianne was alright too
Isaac Jones
You already tried recruiting her that day. You can only try once per week.
Jeremiah Green
You have to wait until either next week or next month because Ingrid already said no.
Luke Hill
You can only attempt to recruit once a week if you already asked her.
David Myers
Have you been talking to Dedue or advocating for the rights of D*scars?
Josiah Stewart
I wish there were a few more missions like defense of Garreg Mach. It's the only mission in the series that feels like a full blown war
There’s was that fog of war paralogue in the woods with rhea The paralogue maps in general had much more variety, some of them were deceptively tough compared to the main storyline
Lucas Perez
Lorenz has a shockingly good amount of supports. His support with Marianne totally changed the way I saw him. It was one of the most heartfelt things I've heard someone say so far in the game. Also, Raphael and Ignatz is pretty touching.
I wish Raphael had a bit more depth to him, but yeah they had a nice support series.
Dominic Jenkins
On one hand I don't care for the new artist's faces at all.
On the other hand, everyone's appearances otherwise from hair to outfits look much better than Kozaki's work.
Landon Powell
Yeah, he's mostly just eating and lifting while being nice, but he's got some sweet ones here and there like him and Hilda making stuff for his sister.
John Williams
Fuck. I was kinda hoping you'd travel to the homeland of what house you picked and establish a base there.
There's story reasons for why that doesn't happen that you'll see.
Eli Bell
Conquestfags need a reality check. It wasn't that hard, it had a lot of gimmick shit that made it feel like a slog. Specially some unit ability loadouts that forced you to play a certain way instead of giving you a more open approach. Fuck playing by the devs gay gimmick shit, I want to have the option to circumvent that.
Like most people have said, early on they are a nice way of cleaning up units on the battlefield or dealing that extra bit of damage for a finishing blow. Later on I found most of my people dealt such big dick number damage or have a 25%+ of criticals that there was no point.
Levi Campbell
I see. I'm not really that sick of it, I was just a bit pissed since I've been stuck at this stupid Manuela/Hanneman paralogue for a while now. I've never bothered with either character so they keep getting one shotted.
Sebastian Nguyen
I'm doing Golden Deers with a ton of archers so yeah.
Elijah Sanchez
Archer ones are all godlike. Late game after that the only ones I found myself using other than those were Wild Abandon and Windsweep.
Josiah Gonzalez
I warped Dimitri over there along with Ingrid and Hilda on flyers to cover Manuela, if you can survive the initial surge on the right side it gets a lot easier.
Joseph Clark
That paralogue is meant to be possible without leveling up either of them. You just need to rush a unit in to save Manuela or have Flayn rescue her off that cliff.
Nathan Gray
The only bad part was the endgame which basically required you to know about it beforehand or lunatic or just pray you got lucky and had the right set up, because lord knows strategy alone won’t save you if you lacked rescue staffs and shuriken breakers
Levi Johnson
Confirmed for not doing golden deer. Hilda's support with Cyril confirms she's also pretty blatantly racist.
Lmao yeah she does straight up say to his face that she's surprised he's not a savage or something like that.
Ian Garcia
>everyone's appearances otherwise from hair to outfits look much better than Kozaki's work. I like the school uniforms and the subtle variations for each character, but I'm not fond of a lot of the timeskip outfits. The Golden Deers look like Power Rangers because of how color coded they are. Ignatz has green hair and a green outfit, Lorenz has purple hair and a purple outfit, Leonie has orange hair and an orange outfit, Marianne has blue hair and a blue outfit, and so on. Nearly the entire cast is like this. Kozaki on the other hand makes great use of complimentary colors.
Edelgard uses her subjects as meatshields. Man this is great.
Angel Cooper
That's because all she knows about his people is what she's told by her brother, who is genociding them 24/7.
Christian Sanders
I guess I just don't care for their more over the top nature. I like how TH's armor designs tend to be more subdued
Ethan Butler
Nah, she's one of those girls who's obviously racist but tries to be politically correct about it.
Benjamin Ward
Random growths and growth rates allow for good replayability and make it harder to make an algorithmic solution for any given map. An easier way to prevent over leveling would be to follow up with what Three Houses tried and make the choice to grind levels cost you other resources (skill experience, motivation, equipment etc...) except make it ACTUALLY cost you other resources by not allowing visits to market/blacksmith from the battle so you really do have to manage your resources if you want to do a bunch of auxiliary battles. If the game was harder and you actually lost units then you need to have bench warmers to fill the void. You should view reserve units as just that, reserves for when members of your your main team inevitably die.
Caleb Taylor
It's not genocide, it's just raiding for shits and giggles.
Eli Stewart
You would lose the rpg element that sets FE apart from just a run of the mill strategy game. I like the rng myself, there just needs to be mechanics in place to mitigate bad rng (which there are, stat boost items exist.)
Owen Green
Or Molotov cocktails
Gavin Bell
I don't think removing the ability to access the market at the pre-battle set up would be very meaningful, it would just screw you over for forgetting to shop before going to battle. It's not like your gear should be breaking in 3 paralogues.
That's less strategy and more a fuck you for forgetting.
Connor Young
Maybe if they kept skill growths and added like a gear system, that might be cool.
If it's just flat stats the entire game, they might as well just make a new advanced wars
Bentley Kelly
Less trying to be politically correct and more just "I can have black friend, see?". She doesn't approach the topic with Cyril in any kind of sensitive way or avoid it, just flat out "You're not like the rest of your people, your people are all unclean brutes!"
Josiah Reyes
Great taste
Hunter Parker
How do I get more gifts?
Dominic Cox
Bring back the barbarian class
Ethan Ramirez
I finally got it. My boy Lorenz carried me through it. My greed for that thief trying to run screwed me over at times I'll admit. The RNG really didn't favor me I have to say, bad excuse I know, but there's only so many times you can miss an attack that really shouldn't have missed and not get pissed.
Brayden Gonzalez
At a certain point, well before time skip, you'll get a side mission to clear the road for merchants. That'll give you the eastern and western merchants who sell a variety of gifts among other things.
Grayson Richardson
I loved seeing that the Deer turned into a sentai team, but I can see why that wouldn't appeal to a lot of people. I do like the outfits on their own though, especially Lorenz's armor and Leonie's orange/red design. I'm not sure if it's like that with other houses, but it seems more appropriate with the GD since they feel like the goofy weirdo house.
Austin Morgan
Pick them up around the cathedral and do the sidequest map that opens up the two merchants. They sell gifts that replenish every month.
Also grow lots of flowers. Bitches love flowers.
Owen Gomez
Why the FUCK is Dorothea always number one deployed?
Caleb Lewis
she's tailored to be a dancer and she's very easily recruitable.
That's a fair point. I would just like it if choosing to do battles was not objectively the best decision after roughly 5 months or so. Making it so that you couldn't repair your shit and battle in the same week would cut down on at least a few battles though.
Nolan Stewart
She knows Marianne wants to die and it frustrates her because she is going to die young.
Mason Reyes
It could have been better I prefer Wada sachiko from the old GBA games
Josiah Williams
Maybe give you stat penalties for multiple battles in a month? Like an exhaustion mechanic?
Cooper Sanders
I honestly only use my dancer this time because you can make the character you like a dancer
Ethan Adams
You don't want to give up his super fisting powers as warmaster.
Jackson Garcia
I'm on my second play through and still haven't used my dancer. Are they that good?
Tyler Sullivan
I honestly don't get Lysithea's appeal, she's not funny and she looks as bland and generic as the rest of the female cast.
Parker Ward
>OHKO Death Knight
Ethan Brooks
>tfw refusing to read any A-rank supports with Dedue so he doesn't impregnate any of my aryan students
Well getting extra actions with a unit of choice is always nice to have.
Sebastian Gonzalez
Let me guess. English dub?
Evan Gray
Did anyone else flat out forget that Cyril exists and not even bother recruiting him in later playthroughs?
Brayden Butler
He is a bro let him have his pick of the white women (other than my wife Annette).
Jackson Lee
Get more of her B and A rank supports, you'll get it. Frankly this applies to 90% of the characters many consider dull.
Nathan Diaz
Irrelevant, you don't need the original VA to see she's not funny if you can read whats being said.
Julian Sanchez
From the looks of it, the other characters are more toned down in their designs but all keep a motif. The Blue Lions mostly look like they're ready for war and are pretty grounded, but have a winterized look to their armor with fur or coats alongside the armor.
Big damage, especially against the death knight Most weebs playing subbed love Aoi Yuuki
Camden Evans
Outside of that fantastic Lysithea support he doesn't have a lot going on. Although, Hilda calling his race a bunch of savages to his face is really funny.
Brody Taylor
Nah mate, incredibly relevant. Tone and delivery can make a world of difference.
Levi White
Its not relevant, sorry weebs but it doesn't change shit about the character.
Tyler Turner
I paired him with Seteth. It was kinda nice to see. It was less nice to see that they are apparently the one A rank that doesn't have a paired ending, I got both of their solo endings
Adam Sullivan
Ohhh, you're autistic aren't you. You have trouble understanding social cures and such. I'm sorry.
Mila's Turnwhele/Div Pulse shouldn't be an ability but an item with a certain amount of durability. It should be super rare at a 3/3 charge you can give to crucial units you don't want to die.
This way it makes the player decide what character they're truly attached with and makes it even harder for when that shit runs out and that mother fucker dies for real.
Also adds in a drawback for having a turn back a turn item by taking up a slot.
My take for making a better emblem is kind of a drastic change. Make it more like Ogre Battle, If they wanted a >random npcs to make the battle look more alive they should have made the gameplay more like ogre battle where your commander unit leads a customizable group to lead. youtu.be/20ISriddgpw?t=308 Like this.
I think they're on the right direction with making FE dark again, althought Byleth still sorta suffers from the God MC complex like Corn.
do you make everyone a brigand except the mages or am I missing something
Thomas Taylor
Every physical unit goes brigand to wyvern flier Mages go to gremory if female and dark knight if male
Kevin Murphy
Either remove the self insert or put more effort into them. I want to see more options in supports, with different B and A ranks depending on how you handled the previous ones. Or even capping a support to B or A if you say the wrong thing one too many times. Oh and remove the school/social stuff.
James Butler
>wyvern fliers even the house leaders and byleth? are their special classes just bad?
Angel Scott
Male Pegasus is gay
Jayden Howard
You have a pseudo weapons triangle with high ranks of skills, axebreaker etc etc. having a level 2 spear men kill a high level swordsman is retarded.
Nathaniel Sullivan
Claude’s special class already has a wyvern No the special classes are good but wyvern classes are just better. Aside from the obvious (movement) they also have really high stats for some reason. Dimitri and Edelgard wreck shop as wyvern lord and can solo maps if you so choose. Byleth as well
Tyler Gomez
It's kind of a meme but brigands and wyvern riders/lords are really strong classes with great abilities and growths for physical characters.
Cooper Long
Smaller maps, less characters.
Joshua Gray
Why ever use Falcon Knight over Wyvern Lord?
Daniel Moore
Lances, speed, resistance, and avoid for dodge-tanking and mage killing.
Wyatt Anderson
The resistance is niche but it does make a difference. During the late stages of BL with dangerous mages everywhere, Ingrid had just enough resistance to make bold moves where wyvern Seteth and Sylvain had to be careful.
Eli Walker
>Just Casual Mode where Casual Mode turns off for a chapter if you continuously play like an idiot You're a fucking moron. Casual Mode allows you to do ridiculous suicide tactics like sending out someone weak to distract a strong enemy for one turn, or throwing all of your units at a boss until it finally dies. The Turnwheel still forces you to play normally, it's just more forgiving to mistakes/bad RNG. It functions pretty much identically to Battle Saves in 4, 10, 11, and 12, but is less forgiving since, unlike Battle Saves, it can't be used infinitely. So anyone who used Battle Saves in those games is honestly a bigger casual than people who use Turnwheel/Divine Pulse.
>During the late stages of BL with dangerous mages everywhere Seriously, holy fuck is every late BL map covered in mages. My poor war master Dedue would have to sit back a bunch.
Kayden Williams
>all these turnwheel/pulse users coping
Jaxon Howard
>Petra >No N-word pass ???
Brody Richardson
Holy shit I made this thread hours ago and it never really picked up steam so I left, how is it still alive
11+12 battle saves aren't bad because they're very limited, one or two at max, and only in specific locations. You have no safety nets on the way to the checkpoint. You can't play like a moron and expect to win just because you got a checkpoint four turns ago.
Daniel Jones
None, go ahead and turn him into a dumb slutty barbarian dancer
