Holy Knight is fine as healer, so is bishop. Most Advanced class are close enough to master to be usable. Gremory, Both flyers and Warmaster are top tier, holy and dark are basically sidegrade, mortal savant and greath knight are weaker than some advanced classes.

The only good class they lose out on is Warmaster, everything else is just okay except for Dark Mage which is garbage. All of the female-only classes are good, however.

I would say that Holy Knight is a sidegrade, maybe even a downgrade, but Dark Knight is an upgrade. A pure faith character might want to stay as a bishop, but a pure reason character probably wants to go all the way to Dark Knight.

I wish those dark mage classes could learn special spells. Would give some value to the classes considering that their mastery are trash. Something like unlock a mid-low level Dark magic for dark mage, and a high level spell for dark bishop, something from Lisy or Hubert spelllist.

It would also fit if you went Dark knight afterwards, especially since most of them end up being ''dark'' knight who still only use elemental magic.

Edelgards route blind for a first timer is amazing. I did get spoiled early on by a coworker that she would be the bad guy but nothing beyond that and thankfully my autism to talk to every one on explore days led me to the crowning scene. This is perhaps the first game where I went down the "evil" route first, I did manage to recruit Felix, Lynsethia and Ignatz before the transition, although the last one was a accident. Before I knew it I was killing every one I had tea times with and making Felix kill his dad.

The only flaw I find is that it was to easy, I never ran out of Divine pulses or let any one die on hard/classic. I hope the DLC adds some sort of super bosses or this Lunatic mode people are talking about.

Get the bonus from the Cethleanne statue, and equipping the Knowledge Gem doubles class mastery gain too

Should I even bother keeping the Rusted weapons? Upgrading them is technically cheaper than just buying new irons but since you can also just repair broken equipment anyways it seems a bit redundant.

Generally the students I actively use are Linhardt, Petra, Mercedes, Ashe, Sylvain, Marianne, and Leonie.
Linhardt is a solid healer with an easy to obtain mystic weapon, and with Leonie recruited as well, you gain access to a paralogue where you can easily get 10 umbral steel.
Petra is self explanatory, amazing swordmaster
Mercedes is by far the best healer in the game, with both physic and fortify in her kit.
Ashe is a godlike damage dealer if made into a wyvern rider, combined with being the only character natively able to open chests.
Marianne has an amazing spell list, and access to possibly the best relic not meant for a lord.
Leonie could easily be swapped out for someone else, but I like to keep her around because of her paralogue with Linhardt

I forgot Sylvain. Sylvain is there because he's instantly recruitable if you're female Byleth, combined with the easiest to obtain relic and great stats across the board.

They're treated differently in the game. IE you will have to grind out all supports on both male and female if you want to 100% that list boyo.

Ashe is actually able to consistently double things and Death Blow exists to patch up his worse strength. Strength really isn't as important as speed in this game imo.
