Die Hard wasn't really a buddy cop film. The black cop doesn't show up until about halfway through the film, and it's really John McClane's story. Sure, Powell takes out the last bad guy, but the movie is ABOUT McClane.
It's more of a general action thriller.
But yes, it's depressing that kids are so closed-minded that they refuse to watch fantastic films just because they're old.
