>It’s no great secret that Steam is overflowing with anime games intended to titillate portions of its vast user base. But how many people pay attention to these seemingly niche games, really? Turns out, enough people do that two of these games ended up on Valve’s latest monthly list of top games.
>[...]Also, there are two sexual games in the mix, both of which have phenomenal names: LOVE3 -Love Cube- and CUSTOM ORDER MAID 3D2 It’s a Night Magic. The number is up from June, which had one sex game—Koikatsu Party—among Steam’s top games.
>[...]Still, sex games—especially anime-themed ones—are clearly doing big numbers on Steam now that Valve has opened the floodgates ever so slightly. It’s no huge shock. These games cater primarily to straight men’s sexual fantasies, and Steam is a platform dominated by men. I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success, but for reasons ranging from audience hostility to Steam’s rules up until recently, there also just aren’t many games like that on the platform.
>game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women
WOmen have access to real Chads, why do they need a game
Hudson Fisher
>sex game sells Wow, what a shocker. >tranny game doesn't sell Who could have predicted this?
Jonathan Evans
God, I hate the artstyle. I think it's worse than custom maid 3d2. I just want a new game that looks like honey select again.
Robert Jackson
>kotaku remind me what was the point of this thread again?
Jonathan Miller
To talk about H-games without the thread getting deleted.
Jayden Fisher
>I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success Maybe because these groups are far less in number compared to straight men (on steam)
Owen Fisher
>hate the artstyle
There are like 20 shaders you can apply
Justin Martin
Besides, Trap Shrine was very succesful anyway. When games are cute, they sell - unlike western degeneracy
Women don't need artificial sexual gratification when they can swipe right at anytime, and there's probably a total of 10,000 trannys in the US so there's no market to cater to.
>tfw that 2012-2013 fake image of steam having starless and shit actually came true
Jeremiah Gomez
Nah, it's because Steam actually has a pretty significant Asian userbase and (non-western) Asians don't really give a fuck about gay shit. And women don't play PC games aside from The Sims, most of them are consolefags.
This is the global top games for the entire month, not the snapshot of top sellers for each region. This is a list Steam publishes on the main community tab every month.
Adam Morris
Part 3 got translated years ago, and it's terrible.
Jackson Barnes
>I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success Because trannies are low in number, why bother coding extra for that 0.1% of the community? As for homosexuals, are we gonna pretend you can't have lesbian or gay sex in this game? I remember that lesbian in in. Gay not so sure, but you could mod it in. As for trans, you can wear womens clothing as dude, so what's the problem here? You want the game to actually simulate transitioning? Final point, it just doesn't sell, and surprise surprise, JP's don't like trannies.
Jayden Martin
>These games cater primarily to straight men’s sexual fantasies, and Steam is a platform dominated by men. I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success GEE GAME PLATFORM WITH MAJORITY MALE BASE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO BUY GAMES ARE MALE GAMES THAT APPEAL TO MEN ARE BOUGHT BY MEN WHO WOULD OF THINKED IT
Isaac Hill
This is from a blog post by Valve. It's global sales as far as I'm aware.
Even more "You just die horribly, it isn't even remotely sexy" defeat scenes, more girls who are just plain disgusting, and the girls who already existed get many of their personalities utterly ruined.
Gavin Butler
>I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success, but for reasons ranging from audience hostility to Steam’s rules up until recently, there also just aren’t many games like that on the platform. why would they cater their videogames to an audience who won't even play their vidyas?
Brody Smith
I will readily admit part 3 had some terrible designs, but overall I thought it was great. >rematch with imp trio >heavenly knight battles >cupid and valkyrie >that whole final battle >king sabasa trying to force his lesbian daughter on luka
James Lewis
delphinus
Hunter Brown
Yes, and..?
Luke Bennett
>WOULD >OF kys
Dylan Stewart
>I just want a new game that looks like honey select again. So you want worse looking trash?
Caleb Myers
There was also a fake image that predicted Steam carrying anime.
Leo Moore
There's a lot of ugly and/or sadistic monsters, but the story was still pretty good and there were also some good-looking monsters, I think it's an exaggeration to say it was terrible.
Easton Cook
>sex sells NO WAY THIS HAS TO BE A LIE WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT
Tyler Diaz
>hentai games sell like hotcakes >we will get AAA porn games >vr and fleshlight integration future is looking bright
Alexander Harris
What a diamond dozen reply. I could int of seen that coming.
Anthony Johnson
I knew you were baiting for that. I took it just so I could tell you to kill yourself with good justifaction
Justin Morgan
based, now if only koikatsu was actually good
Austin Reed
>>we will get AAA porn games Illusion's making one, right?
Anthony Peterson
Is it really niche if the demand is high?
Jacob Brooks
The PS5 will be a niche console for hardcore gamers
Logan Jenkins
Someone tries releasing a girl protagonist boy harem game every few years and presumably none of them sold well enough to foster a new market. What else do want companies to do? They are not going to (intentionally) make more shit if it doesn't sell.
>These games cater primarily to straight men’s sexual fantasies, and Steam is a platform dominated by men. I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success
Did the journalist not connect the logic together? What exactly is the point he's trying to make here?
>I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA >waah why does a game that caters to single digit % of the planets population not do as well as games that cater to 90%+ of the worlds populace abloobloo these people are brain damaged and are the biggest drain on humanity
Carter Garcia
I would say the imagination and creativity is what made the character creator good. >Tfw at the start 90% of the first cards were made with Clown noses
Isaac Gonzalez
Good, the more they sell the less chances SJWs will have to censor them.
They want to see a big 3D game with gay and trans elements. I wouldn't mind it either, but I understand why Illusion never botheres to add gay or futa in their games. Even the lesbian animations are lesser in quantity than straight animations.
Luis Jenkins
Why else do you think he is a journalist, especially one for a literal who site
Gabriel Jackson
Isn't the Steam version lacking some features?
Lincoln Thompson
Sengoku Rance when?
William Kelly
>lacking some features You mean like the nudity and sex? Yes.
Kayden Moore
the main game and its porn mostly you have to patch it in from the official site and even then its missing the pre-order rape/ntr mmf dlc
Landon Turner
It's almost an entire different game without any actual porn. The uncensor "patch" is a massive patch that almost changes the game entirely to the point that the save files aren't even compatible. I might be confusing this with custom order maid 3d2
Nicholas Russell
meanwhile, sjw games that try to spread their ideology of false acceptance fail to reach anything above "negative" reviews. when will they learn that gamers play games to not involve themselves with the world outside? we spend most of our time indoors, not the other way around, fucking morons.
Jordan Hill
>I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success It's almost like mental defectives are not a good audience.
Christopher Williams
COM3D2 and LOVE3 seem like they did well enough, though.
Angel Clark
only* for the char creator. that game is utter trash in everything else.
Nathan Gonzalez
Honeyselect looks like garbage what the fuck are you on
Blake Roberts
Both palyhome and vr kanojo look great though. I want more games with this more realistic style than animu like koikatu
Zachary Cox
It doesn't matter what game it is, it just matters that nothing like that is listed. Actually, even if 2 games on there were lgbt or whatever they would just bitch that 2 isn't enough.
Dominic Sullivan
I want Honey Select sans chink faces.
Easton Taylor
>WOmen have access to real Chads, why do they need a game This. Guys play porn games because dealing with 3dpd can be too much of a hassle either sometimes or all the times. Women don't need to or want to look at porn when they can ride the cock carousel for 10 years instead.
Grayson Edwards
i want to get playhome but correct me if im wrong, is the only way to port or add clothes is to use a clothing converter? last i checked honey select has a ton of clothing mods while playhome doesnt have much
Austin Hughes
Honey Select is trash, it's barely one step above the slav goblin shit on /weg/
Ryder Reyes
>it's barely one step above the slav goblin shit on /weg/ I have no idea what you're talking about but now I'm interested
Xavier Powell
where's that leaked e3 journo list at?
Brayden Bell
The main reason for this is that shithead "journalists" from kotaku voiced their shit opinions on games so much that devs are now making by the numbers, checking every box to include bullshit that every game in most people's palettes (shooters, strategy, whatever) are now loaded with sjw mindsets and dancing around eggshells where there is no compelling or interesting topics anymore. You can't even make any jokes because they either fall into reddit tier cringe humor or pure pandering to left leaning noncomedy.
So where do a majority of players who are now older and grew up seeing this shit for the last 10 years go? You guessed it, porn games, as there's a straight point to it, no shoe-horned bullshit. It's either a silly game with tits, or a full on sex game that has a goal, and tickles your dick at the same time. Games in the 90s used to do that too. Welcome to the revisionism where the most sold games will now be smut instead of tripe from washed up devs/publishers.
Angel Watson
>WAAAAAUGH VIDEO GAMES ARE DEAD NUFUN ONIONS!!! oh whats this? "boku no big titty oneechan harem"? *buys enough to top charts*
Grayson Hall
LMFAO @ U
Christian Sullivan
>I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women There is some otoge on steam and both Idea Factory and Winged Cloud originally started as otome game devs. The audience just isn't there outside of Japan.
>LGBTQ Even more niche and considering more than half of the userbase is from China, it's no wonder they would all fail.
The fact that a porn game sells better than most others game is proof enough of the current state of the industry.
Grayson Fisher
They were trying to get nudie games banned from steam because they outsold their fucking awful indy games, lol.
You have to spend a lot of time with mods, shaders, and custom lighting. With those things it looks better than all other sex games.
Owen Wright
>but for reasons ranging from audience hostility to Steam’s rules up until recently, there also just aren’t many games like that on the platform. >I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success
So he lives in a world where otome and BL games don't exist? How sad.
Jackson Thompson
Maybe, but at least people weren't complaining about the state of the industry back then.
Connor Turner
Hell, Hakuoki alone would prove that faggot wrong.
Juan Torres
Why are flat/small chests so prevalent in yuri?
Henry Phillips
They know but Yuri don't count because men can also enjoy them.
Nolan Richardson
Lady Killer In A Bind sold pretty well. Surprised that he forgot seeing as how often they deep throat that game's non-existing cock.
Cooper Wright
Because yuri games like to focus more on younger girls because the innocence makes it cuter
Joseph Fisher
Honestly most of them are set in high school. The same high school settings you see in a ton of other places but all the girls have huge knockers.
Luke Thomas
>I’ve yet to see a game that more specifically caters to the sexual desires of, say, straight women or LGBTQ folks achieving a similar level of success, but for reasons ranging from audience hostility to Steam’s rules up until recently, there also just aren’t many games like that on the platform. No shit you can't look on steam for manservice games, they barely exist at all because theres so little people interested gay stuff or tapping into the fujo vidya market
Carter Powell
i spent 80% of my time in Koikatsu making cards. The other 10% making images and the other 10% watching them in VR.
Jacob Johnson
Seems like a hard thing to know since most gamers probably didn't use the internet and weren't even aware of things outside of what they already played and followed in magazines like Nintendo Power.
Just speaking from experience. There used to be legitimate excitement about what new technologies would bring to the gaming industry, the first 3D games looks like shit compared to what we have nowadays, but back then, people legit thought it was cool. It seems that as the industry developped, both devs and players lost their passions, which is IMO, one of the reasons why there's currently so many remake/remasters in the industry as they are attempting to appeal to that nostalgia.
>and weren't even aware of things outside of what they already played and followed in magazines like Nintendo Power Vidya journalists at that time actually did their fucking job and actually played game instead of complaining and like me, they actually enjoyed their job and the industry despite the stigma vidya used to have.
Juan Gray
Hatoful boyfriend. The sexy daddy one. Mount your friends. There are also a few otome games I can 100% remember seeing on the store.
