I figured that every route would have the same final boss, so when we got to the final chapters with almost none of the lore plot threads resolved it took me by surprise.

That's a good thing though, the route would have gotten bogged down trying to go into all of that and redeem Dimitri, it was probably the best route because it knew how to tell a classic fire emblem story and tell it well.

My theory is that it was the first to be developed. Part 1 is just too biased towards them. There’s a lot of attention to detail, the pacing is good, it’s clear that it wasn’t rushed in the slightest unlike BE route
The background lore probably took longer to develop, and they had to retrofit the older stuff for it to make sense. So stuff like Claude being a do-nothing there might be a result of that.
