FMV games are shit for a reason, you're not playing a game you're playing a movie and you have little to no control what happens in the game. It's why games on the Sega CD sucked dick because there was only one or two ways to play the game and that's it, no more replay value afterwards. Whereas normal 2D and 3D games actually play like real games and let you control them, cheat, mod, do whatever. You can't do that with a movie that's already shot and rendered.

These modern FMV games are nothing but cringe and anyone who legit likes them (even if they think "they're so bad it's good") is legally retarded.

a game and a movie let's you play a linear narrative with an ending, sometimes they'll offer alternate endings depending on choices or difficulty. a game can give you different abilities and characters to play around with that affect the game, wheres a movie game has one character to play with and they can only do specific instructions that forward the story.

also you can mod, cheat, speedrun, glitch the game and come up with cool stuff that makes the game more fun and playable, a movie game can't do that shit because of budget reasons and they'd have to redo and rewrite the entire project because of your own custom actions and decisions.
