I check to see what replies I got in a 404'd thread because I'm too lazy to take the time to enable autorefresh, and it's kind of like a fun surprise when there's a few I hadn't seen. I don't think I've ever gone back to look more than once, though, sounds obsessive.

I don't think image boards were ever meant to have archives. They are meant to be temporary and whatever you do gets lost to time beyond the edge of the catalog.

I browsed fireden more than the actual boards. For some reason I love searching for certain phrases and memes and seeing how popular they are. It's also helpful if English isn't your native language and you want to see if what you're about to post has been used in a similar context before.

I used the archives to call out faggots and autitsts who’d consistently spam their shit threads, make similarly structured shitposts in specific threads and make bullshit claims. I’d also use it to point out mods and tranny jannies abuse of their mod powers. Don’t know why I did this, as nothing is ultimately gonna change, but I at least make other people aware of the bullshittery.

Discord is another huge cultural loss waiting to happen.
