It seems very likely that they're going to announce western releases there since Y7 isn't going to be released to the west till sometime 2020 if we're lucky. Kiwami's aren't remasters, they're remakes. Kenzan needs a Kiwami because there's so much in it that's missable, it was their first outing with styles so they'd probably rebalance that severely (Especially Unarmed and 2H Weapon), it has enemies constantly blocking your attacks which you can experience in 3 but not to the extent Kenzan had it at, several enemy types in Kenzan were a bitch and a half like sumo wrestlers and any common mook with their dumb stabs out of nowhere that knock you to the ground which takes Musashi a year to stand up from, and Gion literally gets locked out for no reason at the final chapter of the game which they'd probably go back on. Meanwhile 3 through 5 have no need for a Kiwami in any way, 3 is arguable but even then they didn't see the need anyway.

5 is even clunkier than Y6 in adventure mode. While combat is flawed due to half assed new mechanics, OP abilities and too long heat moves.

You have 4 unique characters as opposed to two and three more cities as opposed to two. That's more than twice as much room to mess around in, more than twice as many styles.

3 new cities are fucking empty and there's no sprint button, while movement itself is very clunky. Especially Saporro was a shitshow.
Horrible pacing, being forced to start game a new 4 times with forced tutorials and such (not counting Haruka since she actually plays completely different).

Wrong. Styles are a trash addition, none of the individual styles are fleshed out and they end up feeling like a gimped version of a full moveset. This becomes obvious once you unlock Mad Dog and DoD. Styles just feel like an arbitrary limitation on what moves you can use at any given time rather than giving me full access to the character's arsenal.

Shinada's combat is probably the one single worst "style" in the entire series and you're basically forced to go with it entire act.

In addition to what this user said, styles also take away the individual feeling and "style" of a character. Kiryu is Kiryu. Majima is Majima. They shouldn't have 4 different fighting styles to pick and choose depending on their mood. That's just a horrible gamelay gimmick that contradicts who those characters are.

I'm playing it on my ps4 and loving it but the fact you can't pick up weapons really bothers me. Combat feels very monotone without being able to bash someone's face in with shit you find. Still great fun though if you want more of the Yakuza formula.

styles gave the combat a slight bit of tactics and depth. K2 was let down massively by it's combat and lack of heat actions. instead of styles, we had charge ups to break the guard. Not a very nice trade off.

It's still the only Yakuza main title I didn't played because
1. I don't pay full prize for a 11 year old game with cut content on western release (and it's nowhere cheaper to get than 40 bucks)
2. Well... it has cut content and I want the full Yakuza experience like in every other title.

I have the feeling that 3 is especially important for 6 since I had fuck all knowledge about those kids and 3 largely is largely about them.

Yakuza is hugely successful since they hit gold with 0. Y6 even sold more in the west than in Japan. Compare it to before 0 where they sometimes questioned if it's even worth it to release since they barely sold at all in the west (4 might be the most successful game prior to 0).

The one city with the Baseball guy is just one single straight street where you can't really explore much.
The starting city and the one where Saejima runs around are beautiful and fully fleshed out tho.

The beginning of 6 is really the only time you see the kids and it's more to make you happy to see them grown up thanks to Kiryu. You also get to hear about their future prospects like with Taichi for instance. One other thing is that 6 has a substory that's a play on one that was cut out of western 3 where you get Taichi a porno mag. Outside of 3 their roles are more for namedrops than anything else, 6 is their biggest cameo after 3 and even then they're in it for less than two minutes so you're not losing that much. Haruka's substories in 5 are based around the kids as well.

In 3 itself the kids get three or four major downtime sections to hang out with them and solve their various problems or have Kiryu play a good dad to them, but they're not super developed.

You're getting Shinada and Saejima's cities mixed up. Saejima's is the straight street with side areas that are also straight streets, Shinada's is the big red light district with a giant park and then the giant mall area that's underused.

Ishin is on the moden engine so they can just fix up the source code to the original western release. No need to remake the game. 3 is not arguable at all. 3 is when the combat became good(again literally just make enemies block less but more aggressive though that can be said of any game in the series).

This, Yakuza combats nothing more then a beat em up thats all about how cool it is you dropped kicked someone over a ledge in a cutscene but it never plays well in boss fights. The main problem with that is a beat em up is normally like 5 hours long, but Yakuza games can go on for over 80 fucking hours so the combat gets obnoxious quick, especially since the games so long new moves are drip fed to you while also being locked behind hidden sub storys, including ones that feel pretty essential to your move set so you're playing as a half finished character for a long time which just doesn't feel good.
Id say I like the Mini-games though, and the sub storys that the translation doesn't destroy by filling them full of obnoxious memes.

Ishin definitely doesn't need a remake, yeah, I forgot to include that in my post, that's my bad. Considering it's based off of 5 there's no reason to remake it whatsoever, that's like saying 0 needs a remake.

3 is arguable because it's still very rough around the edges, targeting still isn't as smooth as it is in 4 onward, you still don't have fully controllable directional attacks during combos (They're there but they're dreadful at diagonal hits, especially if you want to attack behind you), everything is way stiffer than it ends up being in 4, there's still missable substories, you can still lock yourself out of Amon, and it's got the same problems Kenzan has like the blocks which I mentioned. Obviously, they could fix most of these problems just by plopping it onto 5's engine which probably wouldn't even take much effort as far as I understand, but 3's the only one I would argue that could use a Kiwami, but again, it's not necessary and they didn't deem it necessary either because it's so close to the more modern of the modern engine games.

No dude, Kenzan's the first PS3 game, even the directors think it needs an overhaul simply because they were throwing stuff at a wall to see what stuck as their first PS3 entry and it's got all those issues I mentioned. Ishin showed a lot of what they learned and iterated upon, and yeah, you could stick it on Ishin's framework I guess but they'd be doing it on the Dragon Engine if they were to Kiwami it rather than 5's engine.

Dead Souls deserves it but even then it still had its moments. 3 was enjoyable but I can understand why people dislike it from a story standpoint. Wesker is hilarious, Mine was great, Okinawa is a great city, Haruka's actually pretty good here, you at least get to fight Kazama's twin so it's like you're fighting him anyway, and it's got some decent side content like the HHA, the new minigames coming off of 2 and Kenzan, it was neat seeing a bunch of changes from Kenzan or neat little references to it (Especially the Komaki fight and all the non-lethal reworks), and Mack's a cool dude. Fly is also a great theme and the dynamic entry for it is easily my favorite.

0s the worst for me. The story ended up being nothing more then the back story for the millennium tower and jerking off about Majima.
I wanted a harder more thug like Kiryu before prison and all the shit he went through mellowed him out, but hes the same boring protag as he always was besides the opening. They also didn't give a good feeling of Nishikis descend, he just felt like a bro for the most part. They never even had a scene with Yumi, the one character that'd be great to flesh out in a prequel.
Majimas story was the worst, they had to have cut scenes out or completely rewrote it in the last minutes. Him becoming the mad dog makes zero fucking sense, from the start he did whatever the fuck he wanted and never really cared what his superiors told him to do. He just decided to become a copy of some guy who he talked to for like 3 minutes at the end for no reason. Also the story made him a cuck. The original assumption of Majima just becoming the mad dog after getting out of the blacksite makes sense, but this doesn't. Majima from this game would have settled down.
0 didn't need to exist because it didn't add anything to the series besides sales.
We don't need more games about people trying to get fucking land. We don't need Kiryu 2. You need to learn that you should let series fucking die instead of mindlessly begging for more. Theres over 10 of these fucking games, tell me why we need more? Why should they continue making this shit?

I tried running Kenzan. UI is barely translated, many messages are not translated (about a half of them, mostly hostess-related stuff), but it's playable from start to finish. Kinda. Sorta. Old engine is a bitch and I'm alone here.
Ishin translation has a better presentation, a translator, but they just started, it's gonna take a LONG time for them to finish it.
Kenzan emulates much better than Ishin, btw.

Do you mean the guides or the patches? Because the patches aren't out for either game, the former's guys haven't updated us in a couple months (But the last we saw they got a bunch of translators and were on a good path) while the latter just teased the opening 5 minutes or so of Tosa which was months and months ago and I think was a proof of concept as well?
As far as emulation goes I believe Kenzan is fine, anything else from the RGG series runs like ass because Kenzan is taking top priority due to the translation patch guys having connections with the emulator guys. The only news we have on anything regarding 3 onward with emulation is one guy months go said he played through 3 and had a bunch of crashing problems at complete random and framedrops. You're also at the mercy of the same problem 1 and 2 have when you up the resolution too high where it creates blur and the lights get broken. I think they made the performance better though.
Both are easily doable with the translation guides, but Kenzan's requires Japanese guides for anything that's not main story and substories. Amon and Heat Actions in particular require tons of extra caution because it's so easy to mess up substories or pass up a Heat Action permanently.

Judgment, easily, but FotNS has some great boss fights.

Judgment is going for pretty cheap now.
They both have free demos available so try those first.

I miss Tanimura so much and I hate how his face and voice were changed for the Yakuza 4 Remaster. He was my favorite.

Judgment, this isn't even a question. Get FotNS when it's on sale, the side content is lackluster to say the least. The game really shines in the combat against bosses and later enemies but if you're wanting to get it because you're a FotNS fan you're going to be left wanting outside of staple boss fights.

Only time I remember talking about the story again was when Y0 got released for PC and all the newcomers jumped in. I honestly don't remember anyone talking about the story itself when Kiwami and Kiwami 2 came out for PC as well.

I wish the sub storys were longer and fleshed out as like actual mysterys with darker storys, but a lot of things seem to come down to stalkers doing it.
Like, a story about a woman who was marrying tons of men where they all died shortly after and she forces them to get life insurance just before. Instead of it being something fucked up like her doing it or a couple doing it, its just "TEE HEE IM JUST SO UNLUCKY ;3c" while a stalker kills all her husbands. But then again, they can't do shit like that because all substorys need to end in a fight for some arbitrary reason, and you cant hit women because women are never wrong.

The demo starts you off with a tailing mission so just power on through that. Once you beat that idiot you get Tiger and then it starts proper. You basically get access to all of chapter 1 minus the Club Sega stuff and chapter 1 is pretty long in general, especially if you're mucking around.

I just want Shenmue to be a book at this point. They aren't going to be able to make the like 3 or 4 other games they need to make to finish the story and I just want closure. Shenmue as a beat em up would be weird, Its always been a fighting game as an rpg so that transition would be jarring.
Also, they'd just make it about Lan-Di doing all of this just so he can buy Ryus family land for cheap.

Yes, it has dual language, with the added madness of if you change the voice to Japanese but keep English subtitles, the subs will match the Japanese versus just recycling the English script.

3 and 4 were reprinted by a Canadian store so just grab it from them. 5 is on the store. They're not that hard to find unless you're in Europe and strictly want a PAL version but even then you could probably just import the reprints anyway.

I liked 3 a lot, I even did all those dumbfuck trophies such as collecting trash on the beach or completing all the fucking minigames. It has ridiculously brutal heat actions and enemies get their faces messed up with black eyes and broken jaws.

The series went downhill with 4, then it became shit with 5 and its focus on shitty minigames and side activities, and with 6 it hit rock bottom and they also ruined Haruka forever turning her into a yakuza cumdumpster whore.

Understandable trepidation on their part given they don't want another Dead Souls on their hands, but Yakuza's made so much of a comeback they can make it work this time around.
