People accurately described it as soon as the depths of the deception and gaslighting keeping the private server secret was revealed: this DESTROYED the community. All trust and goodwill had forever been poisoned, and even once the game was back, if we got it back, the community would remain poisoned and ruined because there was no longer any sense or logic behind trusting the rest of the community. All of its leaders were proven liars, manipulators and thieves.

This but also keep in mind they were GIVEN that source code in secret, by the actual game devs, with the instructions to set up public servers so that everyone could keep playing the game. And instead they made a private clubhouse where they reigned as little gods.

Any time somebody caught wind of their secret server and presented evidence, the reddit mods banned them and gaslighted the community, insisting that there was no server (despite them knowing about and playing on it) and that the community as a whole should come together to reject all these terrible, cruel people getting others' hopes up by suggesting there really was one out there.

This shit played out like an actual fucking comic book supervillain's plot, I'm not exaggerating.

The game isn't as hard as I remembered. Doing radio missions was like doing the same thing over and over; drop aoe -res and -def on packs of enemies, aoe them down, rinse repeat. Hell, we had a kheldian in our group soloing +4/x8 content for fucks sake, we were just along for the ride.

Radio missions killed my enjoyment of the game after a while. Not to mention the i25 hackery shit that made endgame easier, and architect, while cool in theory, made powerleveling significantly easier.

And it worked

You sincerely do not understand the timeline or what actually happened. You're making giant assumptions that just aren't true about how it went down. The reason people "stopped caring" is specifically because the Leo guy controlled literally every fucking facet of the community's leadership, and coordinated them all to shut down and discourage all attempts at making private servers besides their own. It wasn't that people gave up, it was that their every attempt was literally sabotaged by this guy and his autistic fans, because those autistic fans also happened to be in leadership roles throughout the larger community and were given inherent trust.

As I believe somebody else mentioned earlier in the thread, the community up until this point legitimately hadn't had any giant controversies. People spoke frankly with each other and assumed the best. They never suspected a deception on this scale because it was unprecedented.

rebirth is the other non-leoshill server, that's about 100 or so. They seem to want to keep it vanilla, but anything released on /coxg/ can be ported over there if they really want it.

Pretty low until night time. Everyone is friendly but yeah you will be stuck with low pop. Just ask in the discord if your trying to get a team. If you want pop may as well play rebirth. It's vanilla CoX but it's got more people.

Asymmetrical gloves are the first big costume update in the pipeline, after that NPC parts will come more quickly.

The overall amount of missions is high along with individual story content from both sides along with the praetorian side of things. The end game is incarnate trials/powers then fixing your build with invention origin sets until it's perfect... then you make another character. CoX notorious issue was the end game content sadly but the overall gameplay is great.

I've heard from people who played on the secret SCORE server, that the GMs and devs kn there would pull up people's chatacters and mock their cosumes and delet stuff from their accounts (the same accounts used on live). I've heard it's one of the reasons Leandro or whoever has the original db won't give it up. They don't want people to see how they messed with our stuff.

How is coxg when it comes to people who don't log on often at all, I've had experience with WoW private servers deleting accounts of people if they don't log on often enough, but then you have RoR who never delete accounts..
I lose interest in shit like mmo's for months at a time and would hate to come back to my account being wiped and having to start over.

From what someone said on the CoH CoH Survivors Facebook page (under the coxg thread there), it's at 1/3 of what it was last month. I've seen it hit about 3,000 on the tracker on the HC forums. It's definitely down from the 9,000ish they had around Memorial Day weekend.

New content will come, but we were given the code but not the matching data or any help on how to do anything, so we are trying to rebuild a correct data set from what we have and work out how it all fits together.

It's pretty dated and grindy without really an overarching story. However the individual story archs, Architect Entertainment (where you make your own story arcs for people to play), and the character designer get people coming back. Altitis is huge with some people having multiple accounts maxed out at 48 characters per shard during the days on live. HC allows for 1,000 characters. Coxg, Rebirth and others have fewer slots, but then you make more accounts.

What's rebirth population like

Tons of new content on coxg, small community that sticks up for eachother, relaxed atmosphere, alsk has a SS13 server.
Rebirth has made some small changes to merits. Parahon Tokens awarded 1 per week to unlock the old Paragon Store tiers (does not take real world money, just there to simulate collecting the tokens and unlocking stuff), people are super eager to team, PL, give advice. They'll literally cluster around Miss Liberty looking for lowbies to team with.

That same perspn, Bubblewrap, has unlocked every single item in the game for use in bases. He even manages to unlock the mission maps for use, but they're super buggy if you try to use them for anything other than their intended purpose. Bubble only has the item library working on his own private test server, though. Don't know when or if it will hit QA or Live.

We've had players come in who know nothing but AE farming and meta faggotry. they didn't even know how to get missions, they had no clue what incarnate trials were.

Also coxg has an active development team that are focused on getting new content out, we just released a new patch with buffs, a new powerset, finished an unfinished powerset, and enabled another unfinished powerset.
