What mod is left ship from?

keep seeing these threads so I tried downloading it
so is it like mount and blade in space or what?

>Haphazardly warps in behind you

yes, but the trading system is actually good and it isn't just random AI choice generator for cheap shot humor.

>They are portrayed as the egalitarian saviors of the sector
>Alex is EUropoor

What did they mean by this?

Attached: 8b4.gif (496x600, 237K)

The supplies cost too much and should not take cargo space, they are just artificial difficulty since you need them for EVERYTHING
Combat is not worth it, it's better to run from all enemies to save supplies, since it's fucking slow, so much that AI can take 30-60 min to finish a small skirmish, making you lose all CR.
Economy is kinda fucked, smuggling isn't really worth it, the most effective way to win ANYTHING is carrier spam.
Recovering ships that TAKES SUPPLIES too isn't worth it if you want to sell them. (they have 0.4 price multiplier i think, not counting the fact, that d-mods decrease the price even more)
There are no interesting mechanics or missions.
It's just GO THERE and find/kill.
If we had missions like escorting merchants, or working as a patrol it would make the game more engaging.
The factions don't actually deal with the pirates and Jihad.
The gates are just there.
Some industries are fucking worthless (ruin exploring for example, you can find 10x the amount of stuff in a week that your planet will dig out in one month), some "upgrades" are straight up garbage, don't use the red planetary barier.

Now, you can fix everything by just playing with the settings or installing mods.

I recomend setting supply space to 0, and playing with 2x damage

well any recommended mods then?
is there anything like Floris of Starsector?

>portrayed as egalitarian saviors of the sector
Nigga are you playing the right game? The Diktat is an arab spacehitler dictatorship which is stuck in one system and who whips out their fleetdick if you DARE muscle in on their space oil monopoly. There isn't really any 'good guy', just a bunch of assholes duking it out in space africa.

Imagine being bad at videogames

When should I start making a colony? I found a really nice system, my fleet feels decent with a Conquest, Dominator and Falcon(P) along with some frigs/destroyers, and I've got about 500k in the bank. Should I start it now or am I still too early?

>bad
elaborate?
Slow combat is boring and I don't see how can anyone find carrier spam "fun"
Just because I like the game does not mean I can't criticize it Alex

Got myself a Paragon, finally. Slapped all three Tachyon Lances I had on it. Get it? THREE TACHYON :^)

Attached: starsector_fleet.png (1920x1080, 1.54M)

You'll need about a million to kickstart a colony enough to be self sufficient in short order. Otherwise you'll probably have to babysit it from raiders for a bit.

Guys there's a pirate base that's attacking my colonies and it is in a black hole system full of rings and nebulas and shit. I tried 2 times and couldn't find their base to destroy it. What the fuck am I supposed to do now? It keeps starting heavy raids on my sistem and the High Command won't do shit ffs.

How dangerous are the raiders? The system's quite close to the civilized part of space so I'm not too worried about having to go back and forth babysitting it but if they're going to start spamming battleships at me I'll hold off.

Excuse me sir? Sir? Could you please keepyour bad at videogames down? I can't hear what you are tying to tell me over it.

I keep bouncing off this games difficulty curve.

if you make money off running trade and exploring, how to turn that into better ships (couldnt find a shipyard anywhere), what weaposn are good and what weapons fit what ships best. How to control ships in combat and when to manually contorl your capital ship

so whats the best "big" mod out there? the one that changes everything and that everyone uses? every game has these kinds of mods

>REEEE Don't critize my game !!!!!!!!!!!! I love sucking dicks UHHHHAAA
At least that's what I got from mutt speak translator.
Could you elaborate now?

In vanilla it can get pretty bad when all the other factions decide to shit on you with expeditions, but if you have a commission or are buddied up in Nex they shouldn't fuck with you too bad. If you sold badass BPs to pirates there's a good chance that later on down the line they'll raid you with said ships.

Hello sir we are from the Yea Forums Police department, we got a call about there being someone really bad at videogames at this particular post. Like just real shit, like why do they bother playing videogames? Would you happen to know anything about that?

Yes, good doggie, it's that shitposter RIGHT here

The link for NGO is dead, all their mega links are dead. Is there any way to still get NGO somewhere?

Guys, is it normal for alpha ai cores to want to marry you?

Bad at videogames.
Bad at videogames who?
You are bad at videogames, why do you play them?

Related question, can beta cores consent?

You can try mega.nz/#F!saoRzApR!OYv8n07HKsSttBOa9p0_Bw

Since Alphas are superhuman and Betas are human-level, they should be able to consent.

This post made me laugh more than it should

tfw one of my colonies has remnant forces in it. Is that good or should I just wipe them out?

How do you make the Imperium's Battlestar good? I loaded it down in remnant fighters and ballistics but it feels like it's doing nothing but apply a tiny amount of pressure.

Will this game scratch my Space Rangers itch? I want to earn money, improve my ship and do text-based quests missions for various factions. Main interest is in the space-trucker/gofer rather than fighting.

Attached: jPyw9Qa.jpg (1600x900, 266K)

Thanks, user

What are the best fighter wings?

the only thing you got right is carriers being OP, asides from that you are a disgusting shitter and should git gut before opening your mouth ever again

Attached: 1557501502349.jpg (320x320, 29K)

There is not too much text-based missions here (yet), тoвapищ. Also, fighting is definitely the best part of starsector.

I like [REDACTED] Spark drones. They are pretty good at point defense and can actually destroy smaller ships by themselves.

Is there a recommended modlist anywhere? I want to add more factions and have them expand

if it is a medium/low beacon sector, once you wipe the patrols that are in the system right as you arrive they will not respawn anymore, however if it is a high Danger sector they'll respawn infinetly until you destroy their nexus, wich is a tad stronger version of a T3 High Tech Battlestation

imo its not worth it to colonise high danger system unless you already know how to deal with the Remnants, their fleets in these systems are insanely strong and requiere you to have endgame capital ships ready and plenty, the good thing about fighting them is that they are basically an infinite source of AI cores of all levels, once you get the hang of fighting them you are gonna be rolling in cash from selling Gammas/beta cores to the Tri-achon niggas, keep the alphas tho unless you really need the money as those still quite rare compared to the rest

>shitter
What? The game is hilariously easy, it's just tedious

cope shitter

Well, that's a shame. I will probably check it out once it's more feature-complete.

>c-cope
LOL Alex, you have to try harder than that, when are you releasing 0.10 anyway

gib tips against remnants

Nexerelin

It allows factions to go to war with each other, raid or invade each other's colonies and make alliances with each other and also allows players to mine, which is an okay way to make money early game

The diplomacy is mostly RNG tho, although the player can influence it somewhat and can call for raids or invasions if you have enough money to finance them

Varya's sector is also pretty good, it allows faction specific bounties, bounties on the player, NPC colonization and some other things

LOL maybe 2077

Check it out now since it's free with Sseth's code anyways.

Dude, don't talk to him man. His bad at videogames will get on you.

lol you don't even play, you just shitpost here all day

dunno what you mean with "feature complete" as the core of the game is already there minus the story and proper diplomacy of some sort and maybe a proper endgame as right now once you get your fleet to a point were you can't be defeated then the only thing left to do is unironically bomb everyone to oblivion and claim their planets are yours, still this is not different from M&B where the end game pretty much revolves around capturing all fiefs and citys on the map and that just ends up being tedious at best since sieges are not that fun as an attacker, in Starsector the experience is great trought and trought, early game is a bitch when you don't know anything but after that you get the hang of it aswell

Xyphos are the best for any carrier that can fight. Best PD and range of all fighters and Ion Beams for crippling enemy ships. They don't get shot down because they are usually hiding behind or around you ship/shields and come with their own shields to boot.

I wanna go crazy and get a big dick ship and put a metric fuckton of missles on it, which ship would be the best?

Which mod is left from?
I know right is Luddic Enhancement

Combat is the best part of the game you miniature brain.

Although I actually would rather have the opposite of what you are suggesting. I think supplies should be broken into multiple things, like food should be necessary.

Oh SHIT bros, I never had a Capital ship before and now the fags at the hegemony are selling BOTH the legion and the onslaught in perfect condition, which one do I get? The only carrier I ever had was a condor and I have a history of being a shit pilot

Attached: unknown-33.png (121x80, 21K)

Onslaught

And you type like a redditor and your shit is all retarded. Imagine not being able to balance supply cost. Like holy fuck kill yourself. I bet you are a retard that buys the most expensive ship he can get and then tries to deploy them in combat and wonders why he has no supplies after. Why don't you just turn off fuel too, thats just artificial difficulty right? Carrier spam is for shitters who can't into combat but hey I guess thats why you use it. Why don't you do stink up another thread with your bad at games?

At the Eastern and Western borders of the sector in Hyperspace, there's a lot of open space with no planets but open "pathways" inbetween the void storms. Is there anything in these, or is it literally just empty space?

this is my waifu

on high danger sectors, wich are the ones you'll be farming at the endgame, you gotta have abour 3-4 strong capitals like the onslaugh or such soaking the damage while your Carriers equipped with Cobra bombers deal all the damage for free since Remnants are really weak against any sort of fighters since they use their drones as Point defense against them and once you kill them they are helpless against them, still the easiest time gomes when you get 2 astrals and at least 2 paragons (wich you can buy from the tri-yarch corp military bases if you take a commision from them) but at that point you are pretty much unstoppable anyways so if you wanna have a tad more of a challenge i suggest just going in after you have enough capitals and carriers to warrant an engagement, clear all the medium/low systems you find tho, they are pretty much free cores

also don't engage more than one patrol at the same time in the high danger systems, you can kite them until they try to intersect your ship to stop it, as that for some reason will make other patrols separate from wichever one is using the intersecting and once they are far enough from eachother you can engage the closest one without the others joining in

>check out distress signal
>find a couple small pirate fleets playing tug of war with some low-tier remnants
As usual, it's fucking nothing.

Does this game run on a laptop with an integrated graphic card ?

fuck this guy

literally every planet/base sells ships. just try autofitting weapons and running simulations using the AI and then controlling yourself. make sure you autofit when you are at an actual base or planet so you are buying new weapons and not just limited to what is in your cargo hold.

without mods, yes

gamma cores are capable of consent

which tab sells ships?

press f

Mora is great but the Eagle is very mediocre unfortunetly

Fleet -> Buy

Are there any recommended faction mods? I'm using Nex and I just need more

They are selling the legion and the onslaught too, should I get the onslaught and the Mora?

Is this game fun? I see a lot of threads about it and it looks interesting

if you can definetly, the onslaught is very good, and the mora goes toe to toe with the heron for best carriers for their size/deployment cost, just keep in mind that you can buy a paragon for around 750k on military planets from the tri-yarch (need a commision from them tho) and that's the best capital ship in the game by miles

Underworld is great
Diable and Blackrock are pretty good
Sylphon RnD is fun but a bit OP
Intersteller Imperium is basically the Empire of Man from 40k, complete with an exterminatus ship that has a single giant screen nuke missile

What's this recolored Pandemonium from?

14th are not terribly rare except for the legion which there will only be 4 derelicts(which might not even be salvageable) of and maybe the onslaught.

The eagle is sort of an everyman cruiser, it's somewhat fast, moderately tough and has okay firepower

the mora is a tough carrier, it's very slow but it has a super shield which the ai is able to use quite well. in the hands of the ai though without timid officers it's gun's will eventually get it into trouble

it does nothing because the pandemonium is a joke. but that's a nice templar skin.

Looks like a knights Templar ship but I'm pretty sure that mod isnt updated yet, and probably wont be for a while.

Yes, in its current state without mods it is fun but once you make a lot of money, build a badass fleet, and establish a bunch of colonies you won't really have much more to do. I put about 20-30 hours in without mods.

Then you can install mods and enjoy it even more.

Banging a gamma core seems pretty boring. It'd be like fucking your PC.

very, the combat is by far the best part, but it takes a while to get used to it, once you get the hang of it making your own custom fleet and outfitting them with whatever the fuck weapon you want is great fun

yes,it's space mountain blade

post appro-chan

Implying you wouldn't

Someone is translating Appro right? How far along is that?

What destroyers/cruisers have the same feel of the wolf frigate where you can juke in and out? I'm trying to pilot some of the bigger stuff instead of just letting officers handle them, but I keep overextending and getting my shit rekt

Attached: lockheed_sr71_l3.png (1024x623, 608K)

OH SHIT SON LOOK WHAT BLUEPRINT I JUST FOUND GAT DAMN

Attached: Screenshot (35).png (2552x1473, 900K)

the Odyssey is a capital ship with great mobility and decent firepower, its special ability gives it a big burst of speed wich allows it to get out of trouble, as of cruisers the Doom is outright OP in player hands and for destroyer the Medusa is literally an upgraded version of the wolf with more everything but it is really rare unfortunately

Ludd is not real.

Ludd is an AI

the pirate falcon is the fastest cruiser I've found and it's not particularly rare either

you can even put 4 annihilator rocket pods on it for maximum spam potential

Do you have to tactically bomb a faction to kick them out of a system?
Or will enough raids to their spaceport/industries be sufficient enough to decivilize them?

You guys ever played Spy Hunter on the genesis?

>supplies to maintain and repair ships are artificial difficulty
fucking LOL
Do you think food in M&B is artificial difficulty too?

Please use all your OD points, it's bothering me the same as 29 bullets out of 30 left in mag bothers me.

Are the corvettes in the ship/weapon pack mod worth getting

Imagine playing this game unironically.

anything that reduces stability works, though I think bombing the spaceport is the most effective

in vanilla the only way to get their planets is to bomb them to oblivion until their colony no longer exist, with Nex you can send incursions with marines to take over a colony

>this ship OBLITERATES fighter swarms and basically youre fucking stupid
>How? Click F to find out...

I honestly use autopilot until they start being retarded

Doom is the best ship in vanilla, the phase cloak suits juking. If you're ok with mods, Diable Avionics has the wolf's active flicker ability on bigger ships

I have a shitton of Blackrock blueprints too but I have no idea how to outfit those guys

Attached: screenshot020.png (1920x1080, 685K)

How do I git gud with carriers? Everyone says they're OP but they seem worse than ordinary ships to me

How’s the astral?

The amount of firepower you can quickly dish out at a safe distance with 6 fighter bays and 2 large missiles is absurd, its great
Its pretty OP starved so dont expect to fill in even half of its weapon slots

All depends on what fighters you use.

How do you outfit an Onslaught so it's not shit in anything but a 1v1?

Ran a test in Vanilla. Raids on spaceports and industries work at decivilizing colonies, albeit extremely slowly in comparison to bombings. So it's an option if you don't want to turn a faction totally hostile towards you but want them to fuck off from a system.

One thing I feel is always important to get the best of your carriers is to also make sure to bring in a good number of interceptors or anti-fighter weapons to suppress the opposing fleet's fighter ball
Those little shits will get in front of your bombers and make dealing any kind of damage impossible

As a 3D art designer the one on the right is horrifying. No ambience to speak of, just hard metal. the one on the right has infinitley more "soul" If you say otherwise then I guess your the one lacking in a soul.

Like all zealots, they're just hypocritical psychopaths looking for an excuse to kill people.

That's the idea, and it's great

not really mighty, the persean sector is a backwater shithole

But can i at least take it over?

Yes. Or bombard every planet until they're nothing but ruins.

>tfw try a Tempest for the first time
holy shit dudes this ship is awesome

i had the same reaction the first time i used it but it actually is absolutely amazing best frigate, get as many of them as you can

Are there any portrait mods that are consistent in it's artstyle? I see a bunch of them just take portraits from a bunch of different things so it looks really inconsistent in game

I agree though, it's basically a second fuel supply and doesn't really add anything other than making you waste money

Appro-Light Translator user here again. The translation is playable albeit unstable. I'm still waiting to hear back about the crash reported last thread and if it's fixed at all. I just translated the boss ships. All that's left are the .json files and the 4 Prime (ala Warframe) ships.

On the other hand, the Appro-Light Plus is still a mess. I have translated the hullmods, ship names, factions and weapons. I haven't translated the ship fluff and the ship systems yet.

Here's the current translation, the link will remain the same as I have discovered I can just update the file instead of deleting it and re-uping everytime: mega.nz/#!LzoiwI6S!KgenAmE2YOxKF9TpQ2CuI6WygkMhuuxN_O1q8I0XKH4

although I will say that it seems really hypocritical for Varya communist mod to be up but NGO was taken down because muh nazis

neat user

implying commies care whats hypocritical

Go to settings.json and change it. The setting is "playerMaxLevel", max possible level is 103 (for all skills) and I think requires something like a half billion XP.

*teleports behind ur fleet and drops 12 tach lances on your capital ship*
pssh, nothin' personnel kid

Attached: 1559360155684.png (384x422, 199K)

>Tick tachs

download the Console command mod, then press Ctrl + backspace and type respec, it will give you back all your skill points and you can rearrange them as you desire, as for what skills are the best, the salvaging skill is probably the most OP atm asides from Loadout desing wich is almost mandatory if you wanna make all your fleet stronger, the rest is up to you really, colony skills on your character are kinda of a waste since the alpha AI cores get all of them by default

in the next update to the game you'll be able to respec without needing mods, but who knows when that'll be

there's also a mod called skillup that does exactly this but it drastically reduces the EXP you need to hit 103 so you can actually get to that level without insane grinding

Is NGO updated to 0.91a?

Yes

thanks user

where's the mod author normally uploading to nowadays? /vg/?

Alright lads should I make a colony here?

>colony skills on your character are kinda of a waste since the alpha AI cores get all of them by default
Keeps you from having to farm four cores at least desu.

It's usually in VG ops or in thread itself.

I'd build it in the black hole myself t b h

That reminds me of how pissed I was when I found a desert world orbiting a desert world in a system with three other planets but the second desert world had ZERO resources.

>hazard rating of 275%
No
Try to find something with resources and a hazard rating of less than 100

I was personally thinking of making on the neutron star for a cool lighthouse effect

I installed Unknown Skies and now half my systems are empty.
They look pretty, but are fucking empty.
And on top of that I found no good, colonizable systems anywhere. The best I managed so far has been a single habitable planet with no negative modifiers, in an otherwise empty system.
So the choice falls between not being self sufficient when it comes to organics and food or not having my own volatiles.

I don't want to abandon this save, I found so many blueprints in it, and I'm stocked up on cores and forges.

I dunno about half, but if you have a lot of shitty stars like red dwarves it's not that rare to get empty systems.

Yeah guess that's it then.

This is why I edited my sector gen, fuck spending all that time looking for a non-shit system.
If you don't mind having your faction split up, Qaras is great for volatiles. It has low hazard rating and good resource output.

What stargen did you pick at the start?

>user working on translation
Based. Is this AL 0.7.1-RC3 and AL+ 0.3.2-RC2? I have a version shared from a forum user and I don't want to modify the text of an older version again.

Because it has Nazis and that's bad even in a game with islamic terrorists as a default faction.

Mixed.

Yep, that's the version.

seriously hope this mod keeps getting updated. its great

Attached: 1547524207908.png (418x415, 131K)

that's a very shitty planet for a colony, no resources and that hazard rating is gonna stop you from building any big industrys on it, search for a -150% rating world as your first colony, preferable with farmland (or a water world) and start from there

Creator also it literal Nat-Soc so it's great.

Isn't there also some shitty mod faction that are not-communists? I remember hearing about it but never bothered to find out.

I hope the designated caretaker is still around, at the very least it is updated to work with the current version and link available in this thread.

Communist Cloud, it's from Varya Sector.

Is it? I downloaded the one linked and it it's for .8

INCOMING TRANSMISSION

Attached: portrait_ai2.png (128x128, 45K)

Good to know, thanks. I've been working on that one version on and off since that link was posted, mostly as a personal project. I haven't been in these threads often, first time I was introduced to AL+ and now this. I find it surprisingly stable after dealing with the lockbox mission. If only I knew Chinese to do it justice and not refer to the older 0.7.2a version for consistency.

Starsector\starsector-core\data\campaign\procgen, look at planet_gen_data.csv and star_gen_data.csv.
In planet gen, increase the frequency of cat_hab3-5 planets, and possibly cat_cryovolcanic as well since those things print money. Decrease the rate of all the other shitty planet types.
In star gen, increase the frequency of red dwarf, orange and yellow star systems in all sector ages, since those have the highest chance of spawning habitable worlds by default.

Hegemony is going to love dropping in to visit you in there. Such a perfect place to invite them in

If only it was possible to commandeer one of those research stations that often orbit a neutron star. Would make a perfect place for a trading station

Oops, I have too many of these files 1.07a is the one that is up to date. I'll fix that. I had this mega up but not share it often since drama happened over the other archive.

You avenged the Mudskipper army user, you did good

Attached: 1566022463316.webm (960x540, 2.99M)

That's the Black Metal guy right? Did he ever upload his live sets / music demo videos to another site after YT Shoa'd his channel?

You think I'm any better? What you're seeing is a week of Google, Bing, old material and best guesses to get the translations. The reason why AL+ is such a mess is that I have no previous translation to work off of which has led to me flipping a table and calling it a day. I'll probably still do the ship systems. The fluff is where the true pain lies.

>dies
nice overpriced piece of shit, its a shame two cruisers body it.

>install Sol system mod
>It takes 10 days at maximum burn to get from Earth to Pluto
How am I supposed to defend this?

Attached: 1566219959020.jpg (640x480, 48K)

Where are you finding all these weird mods that aren't on the forum?

sol is pretty fucking big dude

zoomer user being at bad at videogames is expected
zoomer user not knowing where to find mods is just sad

>No mod with all the dwarf planets and all the major moons too so Sol has like thirty fucking planets

He's making shit up, there is no Sol system mod
You can tell because he refuses to link it when questioned

>second colony making 200k a month after first shitty one that only makes 50k
>make my first million selling weapons to freedom fighters
>fucked up huge fleet of guards around a technology cache and got doom/astral plans
>just waiting for pop to go up one more time before I get heavy industry going
>entire galaxy wants to fuck up my shit due to all the trade going on
this is fun

that faction is so fucking bad im disabling them on my next play.

They're balanced
If you can use them well it's because you're a shitter

yes and they should be ashamed for doing it.

LOOK AT EM GOOOOO!

Who said anything about me using them? The other factions almost wipe them out at every turn. Pirates go toe to toe against them.

Attached: 1497898001512.jpg (489x498, 27K)

I'm not that other guy but i went into diable expecting them to be overpowered but basically everything they have with the exception of point defense and wanzers are shit.

>actually wanting escort missions

Is there any events I get using Alpha Cores as governors? Or nah?

when them luddic niggas buy my drugs for 800 a piece i literally get an erection

They wouldnt be that bad in this game, since pirates wouldnt get to the freighters unless something has gone terribly wrong

>can't wait in civilized planets like in MnB that takes less money than it would have to use supplies and just orbit the place.

i can't even get my first colony going, the fleet running costs are balls

Other than stability is there any reason to have commerce built at a colony?

Guy from last (or was it 2 threads ago) thread. Yeah, the crash got fixed. Thanks a lot. By the time I got to play it the thread was dead so I couldn't report it. But thank you so much. Really wish it was easier to contact you. Got a discord, or even an email I could send bug reports to?

Attached: 1552963553994.webm (360x360, 1.46M)

>They wouldnt be that bad in this game
Yes they would. Your colony patrols already escort people within the bounds of your system, that should be enough. No one wants to follow a fleet around.

Maybe? I'm mostly glad there are attempts, I don't have a better process myself. I am spending a bit time on and off trying to make things more legible, and what we have available now is definitely better than not having ship superiority at all. I want to try a heavily modded Nex campaign with it, it will be a relief to not get a crash after working out all the text. Also holy shit Knights are strong after looking at these test fights.

Personally I'm losing it going over Knight names, Fire Erosion in general and trying to make sense of descriptions. I feel it would be nice to have the raws to see what comes out of other machine translators but I can't be bothered to try and get it from baidu. I hope a Chinese wiki exists for AL+/Knights, but doubt it and dread the kind of butchering I'm going to do assuming what these paragraphs mean for AL/AL+.

>Get gamma cores, as many as you can
>Go to Canaan star system and take over Asher and then Gilead in that order
>Luddite Path is now at war with you but that's okay
>because we can sneak into their colony one system over and trade in the shitty gamma cores for Rep and end the war
>You now have an instant Orbital Works planet and a planet with 50% hazard rating
And now you're on the fast track to taking over the Sector. Good luck

Attached: 1547987293009.webm (222x220, 120K)

For me, it's the Dictator-class.

I think it gives Accessibility too, which I believe is the inverse of Hazard rating.

The sol mod, if it's the same one that user is talking about, does have several moons. Mars has like two, jupiter has four. It doesn't have ALL the moons, but it's got like a dozen colonizable planets in the system. It's fucking hugely spread out too, though. And the way it's set up each planet only has one worthy resource to mine so you need to colonies on ganymede and europa and titan and the moon just to get good resource flow.

dropbox.com/s/jvii1xnvr7gswri/ApproJuly30thUpdate.rar?dl=0
Here's the full raws for both. A kind soul on the forums re-upped from Baidu.

>fleet I need to escort is faster than base burn, slower than sustained burn
>fleet rides off a hyperspace storm toward a pack of pirates
>didn't get the storm boost by not camping on top of the fleet and fail the mission
Only way I can see it work well is if they are merge into your fleet until you fail or complete the mission, don't cost you any resources and can be modded for better burn levels.

Thank you.

How do I lure massive luddite fleets away from this motherfucker so I can take it/them out in detail?

Attached: java_2019-08-19_20-23-41.png (1920x1080, 1.16M)

Mess with their nav buoy, comm relay, or sensor array.

Convenient place to sell shit like metal and purchase supplies/fuel.

you mean your fleet? you can either store your ships on your colony or in any abandoned stations on the core sector, then take them again when your passive income allows you to pay for your crew payroll

commerce is the shittiest building desu and the fact that it takes an industry slot makes it even worse, patrol HQ/ground defenses and orbital stations already give stability bonuses and actually have a purpose in defending your colony, if you want more accessibility just upgrade your spaceport to a megaport and that's an 80% bonus to accessibility, plus later on you can slap an Alpha core on it for an extra 20% plus with an AI as a governor its skill also give more accessibility and stability aswell as pretty much everything else

>REEEE
>someone hijacked our porn and/or execution video server relay
>BEHEAD THE INFIDELS!
and every fleet in the system goes rushing in

Any recommendations for a pirate playthrough?

Don't do one
Pirates will still attack your colony even if you have +100 with them
Don't do a luddic path playthrough for the same reason

Pirate the pirates first because they hate you anyways, and it's easy to trade with them even so. Build up massive cash reserves, once you can rape real fleets then you can restore pirate relationship with contracts and engage in maximum YARR.

Points for only using shitty pirate boats.

If we're not counting other mods Versant is the best Frigate in the game.

>Frigates
Waste of space.

Is the Gremlin any good at all? I'm still in the poorfag phase and I wanna try out a phase ship.

Attached: ihavenoideawhatimdoing.gif (320x162, 651K)

>Pirates will still attack your colony even if you have +100 with them

that's the case with all factions, at least once they start seething at you for having more profitable planets than them, besides pirate fleets are a joke and an upgraded battlestation + good patrols will wreck them everysingle time without your help

Bruh, link to this ship mod?

Phase ships are really annoying to fight but frigates don't have a lot of firepower to take advantage of it.

fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=10046.0

Does the description make it sound like a good ship?

Don't bother unless you have a bunch of mods.
Underworld and Nex are mandatory. The former adds trader extortion and a whole bunch of pirate ships. Nex adds an actual pirate start so you don't have to spend ages trying to get in good with them, and prevents pirates from fucking over your colonies. Then you want mods like Shadowyards, Seeker and Tahlan that add more pirate ships and markets.

Attached: SKR_tinitus_plasma.png (84x97, 19K)

Attached: screenshot003.png (1920x1080, 849K)

the AI is really stupid at using phase ships, slap a few tac lazers on whatever ship you are using and once they get close target them and let the beams shoot at them, they'll remain phased as long as the beams are firing at them eve tho they do no damage and will overload their flux really fast and come out of being phased almost overloaded wich will allow you to attack them without them just going back into phasing inmediatly, phase ships are annoying so i don't feel bad for cheesing their stupidity

Id say that they’re pirate/terrorist so wgaf, but yes they are very undeveloped. Should try doing it similarly to kenshi where bandits fight each-other and have different faction with different reasoning and motivation.

Waiting for my Astral to finish being built and i'm looking for Tempests to buy.

what do you need to modify so that npcs gain skills when they gain levels past 20?

Just raising their level cap from 20 to 29 allows me to level them up with the button, but the skill choice is blank.

Ow the Edge

What is it about communism that makes it so much more acceptable in Western society than fascism? Is it because they were on our side in WW2?

Go to /pol/ and find out.

liberal propagandists leveraging the red scare into a "capitalism bad" situation and rebranding it as "democratic socialism"
also jews
but thats neither here nor there. its still stupid how they ousted the fucking mod maker for NGO because of an aesthetic

At its root, yes. In addition a lot of propaganda from the Soviets that people slowly ate up until they saw it as 'not that bad.'

I'm surprised there's not an outright Japanese faction mod considering. We even have a Chinese one (not talking about the literal Chinese mods, but Tiandong.)

Alright, so I'm new af and I just got intercepted by a Pirate Armada of all things while exploiting the smug life off of a pirate station. Thing is, I quicksaved right before their fleet intercepted mine, so I'm stuck in a loop of dying to a fuckton of ships while only my faster, shittier vessels make it out unscathed. Wat do?
I can't fight for shit, skillwise, so yeah, I gotta git gud, but in the meantime I gotta know if it's possible to retreat and cut my losses to an acceptable degree.

Most people dont know what Fascism is and largely just view it as a replacement word for evil

all the jap mods r portrait packs m8

>Cabal intercepts me despite only having two destroyers and four frigates

Which is why it's strange nobody made a faction with all the weebs.

Is your max burn higher than his? It's a matter of trying to turn before he gets you so you have enough time to accelerate if so. If not you just need to take the L and start over.

files.catbox.moe/ijjvy0.7z

This is for NGO, you can verify SHA256 with the keys here if necessary: hardbin.com/ipfs/QmXvDFx9E3Gc7MpryVEryWkYG1Q5HDTRrWCRWevnSee4F4/#3JPCHCj14dRZCo97avGMF6pKFBVvRDDEmDm8NgD3KSyU (Has all the extra /vg/ mods)

We've had a problem in the /vg/ threads with an autist trying to destroy the general with shitposting and preventing people from downloading NGO using DMCA requests, so files had to be moved from pastebin and mega to catbox and hardbin.

Yes
Also, regardless of how completely impossible its goal is, Communism is ideologically optimistic which allows shitters to dismiss all the horrors of communism as being "not true communism" because they don't seem to understand that "workers seize the means of production" is a meme-tier pipe dream which enables the government to seize property
Compare that to Fascism, which is brutally honest in its ideology: "My country and my people/culture are the greatest in the world, fuck everyone else" is hard to defend. The logical conclusion of Fascism is warmongering and Empire building, at least in the public's eyes. Combine that with everyone equating Fascism and Nazism as being the exact same thing plus decades of movies and culture using Nazis as easy villains and you get the sort of almost fanatical hatred towards Fascism that is found in the West

Nevermind the /pol/tards. The world knows true Fascism, but Communism is yet to be achieved. The USSR employed a form of state-centric socialism and never really made the means of production truly availiable for the people.
Red-pill is the only true redpill.

There was mecha mod but its dead.

you never actually lose anyways, if your fleet is defeated you just respawn into one of the core worlds with a few shitty ships and continue from there

Dunno, I'll check, but I've tried to avoid this humongous fucking fleet countless times already to no avail.

How did you attract such a big gay so fast?

Diable lets you play as mechs, that's what the Wanzers are

Propaganda

>Have a capital ship and some cruisers
>Two giant fuel ships so that is okay
>Need a bunch of freighters to carry all the fucking supplies since they get used up crazy fast.

Is there a efficiency mod because having to stop and buy out a bunch of stations worth of supplies is getting annoying.

Attached: discordtranny.jpg (1151x960, 200K)

if you try to colonize a system wich is already claimed by another faction, they'll send fleets to GLASS your planet, this is present even in vanilla, so if you are not ready for total war don't do it

>What is it about communism that makes it so much more acceptable in Western society than fascism?
Neither are acceptable you fucking bubble retard.

When you bring out the big guns you need to use them smartly.

If the people of Russia who had lots of labor value couldn't successfully enact true communism, what chance do ameripoor communists who have 0 labor value have

Except it's not. Fuel is purely for hyperspace travel and certain maneuvers, supplies have a lot more complexity to them. Ships require supplies to repair, as well as requiring them over time for routine maintenance and the crew's food, etc. This means you need to be a bit more strategic about how many ships you chuck into a battle, as you don't want to make the battle cost more than it's worth, thus helping keep the combat challenging by incentivizing riskier playing, though nothing in the end really stops you from playing safe if you wish.

What version is that? Is it more up to date than ?

OP af, you can press F to teleport all your fighters back to your ship and INSTATLY REARM THEM, best carrier in the game hands down

You use technicalities to speak the truth while refusing to face the impossibility of achieving your goal and the brutality needed to even try.

No they wont

Attached: Starsector_0.9.1a-RC8_17-Aug-19_9_13_16_PM.png (550x364, 174K)

If you're at the default fleet cap I'm not sure how you can have trouble with fuel and supplies (assuming you're not poor and beyond your means anyway.) Just get two Atlases for the supplies and any salvage and two of the biggest Tankers and you'll be set for a trip to and from anywhere.

Slap "efficiency overhaul" on your civilian ships to save a little bit on supplies. Other than that, plan ahead. Whenever I bring out my base killing fleet it's only when I plan to destroy multiple luddic/pirate bases in one long trip. Salvage from a destroyed base usually refunds whatever supplies/fuel I spent getting there.

at late game you are gonna be relying less on shops in friendly planets to buy your supplies/fuel and more on taking them from your own colonys, since as long as you build a waystation in there they start stockpiling excess resources wich you can take and they'll only take the $$ away from you at the end of the month, also i was running with 4 atlases freighters and 2 prometheus tankers for my end game fleet and that's about 10k cargo/fuel capacity more than enough to take a trip to the fartest away star and come back to my colonys, you just need to make your colonys worthwhile and have a decent monthly income

0.9.1a with updated prices

thanks
trying them out, seems to cause the game to crash, it must be very out of date

yeah, kid, sure, I'm exactly that one imaginary enemy needed for your fiction to work.
I agree, you know? Communism is fucking impossible nowadays, even more so in Murrica.
I used no technicality whatsoever, bruv. Just talking political theory here. I'm also too much of a pussy to enact armed revolution, so to hell with it. Communism will arrive after capitalism finishes fucking up the planet and there's only a couple billion people left.

It's potentially because of the other mods you have installed. The modder who made Kadur Remnant and varya's sector put a line of code in his mods to crash the game if it detected NGO loaded.

If there is one faction you DO want to go into total war with, it's the Hegemonkeys. Every other faction already hates them, and they usually get into a war anyway. And if you win, no more PENIS INSPECTION DAY.

Attached: 1565773153336.png (640x477, 331K)

Should add, that line was supposedly removed from current versions of his mods, but you never know.

You can try sneaking in, raiding their spaceport, and choking them out of imports/exports with minimal hits to your reputation. It'll be difficult though since Heges always have fleets scrambling around looking for anyone with their transponders off.

Give me one good reason why I shouldn't have my first playthrough be me literally raiding everyone in sight and becoming the most notorious pirate in the cosmos?

I honestly believe Yea Forums should make an exception on e-celebs not being vidya in the case of Sseth. This guy is making videogame history by supporting the really competent small devs through piracy of all things.

Won't need Burn Drives where we're going

Attached: eventhorizon_cathedral.png (765x785, 887K)

try it, man, you'll have fun while it lasts

No it won't, because people aren't ants and will always desire private property, pay equivalent to difficult and level of work put in, and dominion over others (necessitating others accumulate power to defend themselves.) Human nature won't change.

But they're the only faction defending law and order in the sector.

no.
Please kill yourself.

Not to mention two of the default factions being fascist/ hard right authoritarians anyway

Mods are lazy enough for us to get a couple good threads in most of the time anyway.

>Not giving it a phase drive

They're military dictatorships, not really the same thing.

>get a bunch of faction mods for extra variety
>fucking everything has a teleport mechanic

>hehe forum drama huhu
>ugh, fucking commies... it's almost like we live a society
Why so triggered? Keep that shit where it belongs.

So if hegemony or lobsters want to inspect my colon for AI/disrupt my market I mean seriously, dick-tate, what the fuck? I removed pirates from you system. I got paid, sure, but you liked me after that and I even bought fuel and supplies and even paid taxes like a gud boye, what the heck? and if I bribe the "raiding party", is it always 100k or amount of creds may vary? Is using your reputation to stop the raid better?
I also read some threads ago that using AI cores on your industry is fine as long as you don't make Alpha your administrator. How true it is? I have few Betas on upkeep heavy stuff.

Oh you silly commies, you know, we should just separate the two ideologies, all the capitalists on one side, and the communists on the other.
Lo and behold, the commie side is just a bunch of whiny poor people that don't let anyone get rewarded for anything amazing as it'd break the status quo.

Mod?

Nah, man, arguments ad natura are not really valid when it comes to human behaviour. As an anthropologist, I can tell you from experience there are alternative forms of sociopolitical organization. Yeah, property is always present, but the ways in wich it articulates into society and economical interactions is very relative. Look up amazonian tribes (by Pierre Clastres) and Inca redistribution sistems (by John Murra) for examples on how non-western societies have dealt with private property, power and all that shit to great degrees of success through history.

Because people don't want to acknowledge that communism always becomes either a government run corporation or a straight up dictatorship because it relies on the faulty premise that humans aren't going to try to maintain power and rule classes of people just because they themselves didn't like being ruled. The USSR is basically how Amazon would've run a country, but fuck corporations communism good

It increases with every inspection/raid

>t. guy who never read Marx

>Look up a bunch of horribly isolated primitives who don't even have a concept of time, we should model our society after these guys who never developed past the early stone age. Nevermind that they're unlike any developed culture since the Mesopotamians
And the Incas certainly had private property, a hierarchy yada yada. They just took shit from their peasants and redistributed it to prevent some abused dirt farmers from dying because of a drought. Fucking feudal lords sometimes did the same thing.

That forum drama directly lead to a good mod being forced off of the main site

It's actually less poor people and more sheltered bourgeois trying to tell poor people what's good for them.

>Trying to sell my massive amounts of illegally illicited, illegal drugs.
>Hegemony decides to do a random check on me and my fleet which is almost twice as big as their main military force.
>Guess you'll die.
>End up having to wipe a planet out at the end of all of it.
>Everyone hates me now.
>All because my faggot Alpha core decided to rush in for reinforcements and they found out through scanners.
>My entire marine corp now has drug addictions because we had no where to sell the shits and we didn't want them to go to waste.

Such is life.

Attached: Delet these heretics.gif (640x360, 3.77M)

>Someone asks a question
>Get answers
>Another random user complains
Honestly you should be bitching about the unrelated conversation that spun off, not the NGO conversation itself.

I think 'communism', understood as a form of horizontal collectivism is possible and has even happened through history. The problem is you can't mantain industrial levels of production without specialization, so it all goes to shit when societies are forced to develop on a state level. Tribes, small non-state nations and villages are a different story tho, and we should be looking towards that, since it's only a matter of a couple of centuries (tops) for global society to face the very real threat of collapse, much like the Dominion when intergalactic communication fell apart.

Why is no one pointing out that the ship design in this game is unaesthetic shit?

I thought the AI commander thing was next update.

That's a mod. But the ships in this game do tend to the bulky and bumpy over anything sleek.

>good mod

Research, man, really. Look it up. You're operating in a quite obsolete framework of historical thought. Serious archaeology and anthropology left that concept of progress and development behind like 70 years ago.
Seriously, bruv, I'm not calling you ignorant just for the sake of it. I would lile for you to have more elements of judgement when discussing humanity. You clearly are interested.
Also, comparing pre-columbian societies to feudalism is like trying to understand fucking marsupials by looking at placentary mammals, in a quite literal sense.

>it took 20 years for the gaming industry to catch up to Escape Velocity, released in 1996

The fuck

Attached: Escape-Velocity-title.png (360x270, 122K)

>Sindrian's keep bullying my colony
>finally amass a fleet large enough to take them on
>choke out their exports/imports by raiding their spaceports
>they finally decivilize
>colonize their planets and take over the fuel and lobster market
>Persean League planets suddenly start destabilizing on their own despite never visiting their systems

Is this because I eliminated their allied faction and they refuse to trade with my colonies? Would they go so far as to deny themselves fuel and lobsters?

it's got a unique artstyle
No mod deserves to be removed over such petty bullshit

Treating something primitive as 'just as good' is an ignorant relativist concept born out the fear of classifying anyone or anything as superior to another for fear of being labeled an -ist. Nobody with any sense thinks an extremely primitive bunch of isolationist tribes is as advanced culturally as, well, anyone else.
>Comparing
I compared a system in my goal of showing how it was nothing like communism simply because supplies were redistributed among peasants when it was necessary.

Is it better to have a single system with colonies or having better quality worlds across multiple?

The more you can fit into one the better.

A place to call home trumps all else

Attached: portrait_npc_outlander.png (128x128, 13K)

Multiple systems with a minimum of 3 150% or less hazard colonies each

Attached: IMG_20190806_200257.jpg (638x893, 114K)

>just as good
You're just showing how little you know about what we (as western society) have come to know about human kind and other societies. The key is immesurability. We cannot compare different ways of life in the same way we cannot say a mantis is better adapted to hunting than a crocodile. All I'm saying is, yeah sure, you can't run modern industrial society as if it was a tribal one, but it has more to do with economic adaptation and scale than level of advancement or civil progress.
I'm not talking about blind relativism, but relativism based on nearly two hundred years of evidence. Really, man, go read. You'll enjoy it.

I'm not interested in your deconstructionism, tankie.

Post current fleets

Whats a good balanced starting fleet comp? I'm generally just interested in flying around trading and exploring but I want to be able to fight larger fleets of pirates and other assholes who chase me

>Apogee

holy shit, I cannot believe you managed to cram that many buzzwords per/word in a single post, even when compared to the wannabe PhD you're talking with

What mod was this?

Rate my find.
BP pack includes Buffalo, Wolf, Hound and Kite

the game WILL fuck you over with armadas and broken ass ship layouts, so just be smart when smuggling. Keep on everyone's good side.

Do I? Rest of my fleet is an Eagle (P), Apogee, Condor, Mule (P) and a herd of Buffalo (P)s with a lone Dram.

I just started.

New Galactic Order
It got taken down for having fascist themes

Hardly anyone uses the word 'tankie' anymore user.

Nazi fascist themes or """"nazi"""" fascist memes

By all means buy it, but at your level it looks like it's going ot be sitting in an abandoned station waiting for you to be able to afford it.

Tankie is still accurate as a description of hardcore Stalinists, i.e the absolute worst of all communists
It's not really a buzzword unless you use it to describe communists as a whole

yeah i save scum a bit, i've gotten 1 mil credits now what ships do i splurge on?

Efficiency overhaul solves that issue, it's more lacking a fleet to support it. I've been making big bank on smuggling and was looking around for a freighter Atlas.

Protip: High-tech orbital station also has mines

i forget mod name, but the ship is the minister class hubship

I've heard Hammerhead is a good choice, but I fucking suck at this game so I couldn't tell you for sure

Hammerhead and a Condor, you're well on your way

Post current fleet

There isn't one

So got this game because this and Lobotomy corporation seem like the only reads on Yea Forums about an actual videogame, so what I am in for? And any way you are supposed to play this better from the get go? Mods required to fix bugs or interface etc. etc.

From what I gather from having played the mod, they're definitely depicted as fascist but not necessarily Nazis, more just ultra-militaristic dictatorship meant to "eradicate the corruption in the hearts of the people" as stated in the in game faction's description

This is why high tech stations are far and away better than the other two

Nothing can delete bomber squadrons faster than those mines

I want to sex this ship

Attached: idk.jpg (1920x1080, 374K)

Is it viable to RP myself as a commander of a large PMC that is powerful enough to actually take on an entire faction but chooses not to?

Isn't that technically true?

Consider an Eagle and two of any of the following: Hammerhead(s), Enforcer(s) and Falcon(s). Get some decent officers to pilot whichever of these you're not, as well as your current Apogee and Hammerhead.

>As an anthropologist, I can tell you from experience there are alternative forms of sociopolitical organization
the ones that died out?

You're just doing some comfy outer system exploring when this fleet rolls up on you, what do?

I could easily body them but I'd rather keep exploring and not waste supplies repairing

Attached: screenshot003.png (1920x1080, 919K)

Feels a bit aimless starting out. I would recommend you start on Easy, with a small Bounty Hunter fleet. From there you can wait for bounties and fly out to kill them and earn some dosh. You have a monthly stipend starting out to help out, but since you start out in Hegemony space you talk to a Administrator at any station to be commissioned by them for some more dosh. From there save up, build a fleet, start survey worlds make your own colony and defend it.

>pathers just moved into my system

How do I purge these retards?

Get some real cruisers or jump right up to a capital if you have the large weapons to support them.

How autistic is this game? If I myself am quite autistic, should I get into it? I already own it from the Sseth vidya.

Man it really just looks like a smaller ship than it's advertised as.

Four xyphos wings on a Legion? Really?

Is cute!

Any onslaught drop is a good haul

No

>prolonged campaign to lure Pather fleets away from their battlestation, then engage the battlestation and destroy it
>lose multiple ships in the process, recover my Onslaught with a Dmod
>literally before I'm finished surveying the starsystem another pather station goes up and starts harassing my colonies

Attached: this kind of bullshit.jpg (236x210, 66K)

alright noob question, if u make a colony early on do u get fucked by any of the main dudes or just pirates?

well, the Incas died out, just like the Greeks and the Romans. Doesn't mean they weren't advanced as fuck.
Amazonian cultures are pretty much alive, tho, wich is a huge fucking achievent in today's globalized world.

Atlas Mk IIs are made of literal paper. Any other capital even a D'd up could take them do your own patrolling fleets should too.

Fly by because I always aim for cooperative reputation with pirates in my runs

Attached: 1542644737423.jpg (750x750, 83K)

Not really, their isolation is and has always been a product of their land being near-worthless for settled living. Nobody wanted it. And now protectionist policies keep people from interacting with them rather than their culture or people having some kind of fortitude against advancement. Though the logging interests are seeing an end to that.

idk about early but I would say I am in the midgame and my colonies just get harassed by pirates

No fucking joke, when fighting the pirates I sold too many blueprints to it's always more annoying dealing with the Ventures they enjoy than the fucking blankets of Atlases they send at me.

how strong do you have to be to repel the pirates?

Which faction sells hammerhead?

The main dudes won't fuck with you early on because the amount of market share you hold, has little value to them. Pirates dgaf tho, they raid anything

I wish pirates would realize their fifty Atlas Mk2's aren't going to do shit to my triple Paragon fleet and stop bugging me.
Eyes bigger than their stomachs.

Don't even try to fucking come near me with your slow ass ships hegemonkeys.

Attached: nowiambecomedeath.png (820x572, 196K)

Every faction

Patrol station and orbital station should be enough against 95% of the pirates. Being friendly with Independents helps a lot too since their scavenger fleets will help defend.

Why Flux Coil Adjunct and not the ECCM hullmod? At least that one boosts your missiles.

I was thinking of simply eating damage while spamming, but I'll probably do that. Was too excited about a nasty 24 reaper fit.

Oh also I don't even fucking have ECCM yet on this save REEEE. I do have a fuckton of shades and omens to spam EMP bursts so cruisers can be held down and penetrated, however.

Are the more interesting planetary modifiers, like floating continent sized structures on a gas giant or mind control spores on a jungle planet, in the vanilla game or part of one of the many mods I downloaded without fully reading. Either way that's pretty fuckin neato.

Attached: neat.jpg (1417x628, 837K)

It's probably from Nex or Unknown Space, but it's a neat modifier. Is it like an installation or magic floating islands?

The tooltip is being a bitch to get a screenshot of.
>Vast structures were built in Eleuthian Streas's upper atmosphere before the Collapse, providing a much needed hard ground to colonize. While most of the constructions have been damaged by time, wind, and storms, the platforms themselves were built to last.

Unfortunately it's just -50% hazard rating plus some ruins to be explored

Aw, well it's still a cool find, especially for a gas giant. I'm thinking of turning one into a volatiles/heavy industry center later on down the line.

>Onslaught this
>Onslaught that
>Onslaught Onslaught Onslaught Onslaught Onslaught
Can you all please talk about other stuff that isn't Onslaught? This is getting so annoying and it's making me angry. Onslaught is so fucking shit and I seriously can't understand how you don't get tired of talking about Onslaught without ever stopping. What about Legion? What about Conquest? WHY ARE YOU IGNORING THE OTHER SHIPS, ITS NOT FAIR. Onslaughtfags are the worst, I hate them and I hate Onslaught. Onslaught a shit. A SHIT.

Let's add a porn minigame to starsector!

The Falcon is just asking for it with such an opening like that desu

Mount and blade style relationships when? The interaction with other NPC's is really limited and so is your relationship with certain planets

Mount and Blade style ugly women you can court for no raisin

need my hot fix of Boyar Valishin

I finally found my first Legion, but it's just so fucking slow, what do I do with it to make it useful? Most of the time the rest of my fleet wipes out the enemy before it even gets to the fight.

Press F, thats all you need

Slap long range fighters onto it and some long range missiles. It'll always be a fat, slow piece of shit so you just have to give it reach.

I haven't really thought about it before, the game has so much potential for text-based adventure. Text based romance, maybe?

Or better yet: the cool story elements of Sunless Sea with the gameplay of Starsector.

Attached: 1501351952595.gif (313x474, 165K)

I'm surprised nobody has compared the overworld movement/exploration to the Sunless games before.

Sunless gameplay is Newgrounds-tier at best, it's such a fucking chore to play.

The gameplay is a framework for the world/story. Don't get involved unless you love reading.

It's really not how it should work. I really loved the world of SS, but I quickly dropped it because of how tedious and boring the game was. It's a video game, the gameplay should be first priority. If you want people to read, just make it a VN or something.

I disagree, but I'm old enough to have grown up in the adventure game era.

>Messy Portraits are all pretty good but there's at least four or five heavily contrasting art styles at play so my autism can't handle it
Shame.

Attached: 1363476185663.png (200x200, 22K)

Sunless Sea was boring as fuck so I just cheated my ass off so I could read more of the story.

Gaming industry isn't doing shit, this is just 4 dudes

>persean league take planet on same system as main luddic path system
>there's also a pirate base in the same system
I literally just buy fuel at base cost at persean and sell it for megabucks to the other two, I'm making fucking millions holy shit, not to mention the regular salvage from the idiots constantly attacking each other.

>open mod folder
>find filename of portrait in graphics\portraits
>open all .faction files in data\world\factions\ with N++ or something
>remove "graphics/portraits/filenamehere.png" in all files
>save and close
Now if you learn to modify and copy paste what you see then you too can be a portrait pack modder. Then you can insert portraits you see fit to any faction you want by using any portrait pack as a base to work off of.

That's more or less my goal sometime this weekend now, combining a couple of portrait mods into one using only the images that are close enough in art style. Main sources will be this and Another, though Degenerate might have some too. But the biggest headache is going to be adding them all to all the various faction mods I have.

I could probably use some more factions but AI War, Citadel and Mayorate are dead. rip

Attached: screenshot004.png (507x919, 224K)

What do people see in the Fringe Syndicate? Skimming over it, it looked like it was mostly various sizes of Star Destroyer and a Millennium Falcon.

Are there any niches that you feel aren't filled?

any tier lists on skills/ships?

Sounds like a good weekend project, if you aren't deciding what portraits are specific to each faction I think you can just copy .faction files and rename them accordingly. If it is more specific then it can be a bit tedious, I can understand having some portraits exclusive to factions like Imperium or Pirates.

I don't get the point of Star Wars mods that only focus on ships from a single era, especially when it's OT shit so 80% of it looks the same

Attached: 1543421693138.jpg (768x1024, 170K)

It's kind of weird when Star Wars, over the years, has shat out so many weird ship designs. You have well over a hundred different designs you can choose from, and yet you just choose to spam Star Destroyers like your name was Sheev.

Yeah, some of them really don't fit one or another. I feel like pretty much all the civilized core factions can share one style while pirates and pathers will need another, even if, ideally, they all had their own individual identity. Same would extend to the mod factions, but that would be crazy ambitious. I'll see how I feel about splitting it into civilized/uncivilized later, though I also know that I'm leaving some of the weirder factions alone with their own portraits (like giving the Foundation of Borken human portraits would obviously be a mistake.)

Worse than that is since they all look the same it's more effort to tell them apart in Starsector at a glance, he has 9 fucking versions and sizes of Star Destroyer.

Not anything recent or objective, no. Just know that phase ships are generally the best of their class.

You sure are a popular boy user.

>I'm such an uncreative brainlet I need an NPC to give me a mission to do something that's already in the game
The game tells you about current events in the world, you can task yourself to patrol and help a faction if you wish. There is nothing stopping you escorting merchant convoys you come across and protecting them from pirates (and yes those fleets being destroyed does impact the economy).

Can you build ships or just have to buy them?

You can build them but you need a colony with the right industries.

What recommended requirements do I need before I even think about colonizing shit? Do I want to be far from the other retard factions or close for trade?

Don't colonize core unless you want everyone to hate you from the start. You want something pretty near core if you can but not right on it, if you like spending a lot of time in the fringe then having something more midway might be a good idea instead. As for your cash, get 2 million and a decent fleet before you try, you're going to need to fend off pirates for a few months.

I only use legions in the early game as a really tanky flagship. I have a couple kitted out with mainly point defence that I'll sometimes use to support an onslaught in tough fights. They're good carriers to bring when fighting bigger stations.

How does the game determined if your character is male or female? Is it assigned to certain portraits? I've had my character referred to as a girl before despite using using that cracked helmet portrait.

Raging about supply cost is absolute proof you're a noob. You have to learn to avoid hazards (coronas, storms etc) basically don't full burn everywhere constantly. You can avoid most fights in this game, by level 10 you can massively reduce supply and fuel costs. It's completely fair mechanic.

>He doesn't install Solar Shielding on all his ships and just fucking ram full speed through storms and suns without giving a fuck about a couple repairs

Attached: 1348900510084.jpg (400x300, 8K)

I've been meaning to try a Nex faction run with them so I can't say other than I don't feel the need to remove them. Right now they're irrelevant space wedges you occasionally blow up that have fun names like Terror-class Dreadnought or Melancholy Dropship.

Could use less high tech mod factions, if someone wants some alien mod factions they will be severely disappointed by 0.9a. There is also a lack of minor factions that don't offer or come with an armada of capitals, not everyone has to be a tech giant or interstellar military power. I also kinda want to see a SHMUP mod faction that makes ships no bigger than a frigate or destroyer but have stronger versions to scale with their deployment cost.

Attached: screenshot007.png (2560x1440, 2.82M)

Remember citizens, better to die than serve AI.

Hypervelocity guns in all the frontal medium slots, flak cannons in the rest of the mediums, two devastaor cannons in the side large slots. Fit the longest ranged most powerfal small weapons you have in all small slots. For missiles either go full annihilator pods, or all harpoon MRMs. Mods are expanded missiles, point defence AI, integrated targeting and whatever else you need.

>if someone wants some alien mod factions they will be severely disappointed by 0.9a
Crystanite and Biomancy (died in the cradle) RIP.

>I also kinda want to see a SHMUP mod faction that makes ships no bigger than a frigate or destroyer but have stronger versions to scale with their deployment cost.

Neutrino has the Falken, with a tacheon lance, some torpedos and a few hull mods you can bring down anything.

Anyone made a mod that replaces all the battle music with Touhou music yet?

Attached: IMG_20190720_154228.png (503x286, 55K)

Shit the fuck up filthy Luddite/Hegemonkey

Attached: 1565460496085.png (735x586, 33K)

>People keep acting like their AI are their waifus
>Only interactions in-game involve them going full HAL on you

CIS is the only faction with good ships

FUCK triangles

There's only one music mod and it got killed by forum copyright warriors. Extremely hostile to anything derived from anything else. That said you can download said mod from a mirror and simply replace every single one of its tracks with your own (renamed) Touhou oggs for completely brainless and easy modding.

This thread has been up for 10 hours on Yea Forums. Impressive.

You sound like a broke ass lmao

Attached: images (35).jpg (610x503, 27K)

rip. Crystanite was pretty cool with its high armor and no shield tech. Biomancy never making it out is also pretty sad. Even if it didn't mesh well with the art style I also liked fighting the (mostly Dark) Spire from AI War, with their XL ships and forcing their shields to collapse. Plasma Siege Gun is one of my all time favorite weapons.

>Lucrehulk w/ 6 fighter bays and an ass-load of PD
>targeting feed ship system
>vulture droids as drone fighter wings

>IBB phase ship only bounty
Fucking how.

Attached: 1559288685731.jpg (472x480, 43K)

I want to remake the Rocinante from the Expanse, what ship should I use

Same reason people hate the hegemony, they keep doing illegal shit and getting caught so of course they're shitty.
AI helps your colony and are a general boon so of course they're great.

>wasting OP on shit that could be solved by not flying your fleet like a retard

>ass-load of PD
Lucrehulk was more like battleship/carrier hybrid

>Go into [REDACTED] space
>Literally outrun all the terrible dangers
>Walk out with a bunch of design chips and like 4 corrupted forges
lmao these guys were supposed to be terrifying?

>not going for that sweet 20% energy resist

you absolutely should full burn everywhere though
the extra fuel you use is offset by the increased wealth you earn and the fewer supplies you waste in hyperspace

The game is about space exploration/war logistics you fucking dipshit of course you have to fucking plan for expeditions and bring enough food, replacement parts, life support necessities, etc. when you're hurtling through the infinite void of space to commit atrocities abroad

I remember it having a ton of turbolasers but nothing really large on it, and that they were superfreighters turned carriers/droid control ships.

Pirate link where

Nigger just use Sseth's key, he has it in the review video

Depends which one you're talking about. The ones in episode 1 were pre-war and thus primarily freighters/carriers. They had some turbolasers but mostly relied on their neverending swarms of vulture droids.

When they joined the CIS they got a refit to add substantially more hangar space and firepower. So a mod could do two variants where you have the freighter one which is mostly small mounts, hangar space, and freight. And then another variant which ditches the freight in favor of more and bigger mounts.

You think that's bad, just wait til you come across ROCKETMAN

You should and I do, but if you're a noob struggling with supplies who can't navigate/use emergency burn properly, then flying a bit more sensible is your only alternative.

it's 20 dollars you absolute nigger, just buy it

Went into a medium threat system to do some scavenging and suddenly all the dormant fleets woke up and are zeroing in on my position, what do?

Attached: 1565290953444.jpg (854x480, 101K)

For how fun the combat in the game is, it sure sucks that it has the worst risk-reward ratio of any in-game activity by far. The way it works now, you do mundane shit like trading or exploring to earn money, and waste money on combat to have fun. The fact that you can undo 10+ hours of real-time progress in a single bad fight also means that as a new player you either have to avoid combat or savescum, because the only way to learn which fights are safe to take is trial and error.

>what do?
Transverse jump. You aren't a dumb nigger who wasted skill points on combat, are you?

Hey Yea Forums Appro-light translator, autistic /vg/ Approlight translator whose version is in the previous thread's hardbin here, Approlight version 7.2 RC1 just got released so I reuploaded the raws for you. I'll upload plus if it gets an update too.
mega.nz/#!GqJFRIrB!zd5nz9Rk4ppTdypIrjbOsvLnVaNrDselXJnHH_-n1vs

I'm counting on you since you're more active than me and i lost my motivation when i got no feedback after i posted my tl

>dumb nigger who wasted skill points on combat

*dabs on your paragon with a frigate*

Attached: RU7ZRDr.png (76x102, 8K)

>not using a cheap as fuck hull mod that gives 20% energy damage resistance in a game where all high-tier enemies use exclusively energy weaponry

For my next playthrough I plan on getting transverse jump and then straight into maxing every combat skill. Shit's gonna be so cash.

Attached: 1412857477392.gif (379x329, 298K)

You aren't a dumb nigger who's using the pointless arbitrary vanilla level cap, are you?

>find old version of some music mod
>its all EPIC MUSIC (tm) and doesnt really fit the game or the atmosphere
>wipe the sounds folder and replace all the music with stuff from metroid, zone of the enders, final fantasy and cowboy bebop
much better

Attached: 1545200463993.jpg (720x720, 24K)

>using mods to make the game easier
How embarassing.

>implying Diable isn't UP compared to vanilla

>not getting transverse jump first for literally every single character

I just play the EVE soundtrack

Anyone ever notice you get an Alpha core when you completely wreck the luddic church's homeworld and explore the ruins?

Also I kinda shot myself in the foot, ended up wiping all of the factions from existence cause even ones that I was 70 plus rep with kept sending raiding fleets so got fed up with em. Now my 1.8 mil per month income is now just 40k.

Honestly you should get tons more creds if you own everything , not less.

Attached: lineandsinker.jpg (728x1069, 79K)

Its actually Neutrino but same shit.

>not having basic reading comprehension
top jej

Attached: drew.jpg (240x285, 34K)

>dont have anyone to trade with
>all resources are centralized in your governing turf
>anything people need is an in-faction import
>no need for most stuff outside of supplies and fuel
do the words "war economy" mean anything to you?

Gaming journalist level of retarded rant on here lol.

If you own everything then who are you exporting shit to

Do you want to get cucked by a ship? Because that's how you get cucked by a ship.

okay.... but why?

Attached: screenshot037.jpg (1920x1080, 325K)

mid game > early game > late game

>If you own everything then who are you exporting shit to
Why do I only get money from exports to other factions? If I own my colonies, I should take my 30% tax cut on any trade between them as well.

This is what's left of my fleet after I engaged a remnant fleet protecting a supply cache I needed to check for a quest.

I fucked up and went in first with 1 of the only 2 destroyers in the fleet and died pretty quickly and the rest of the fleet followed suit.

Attached: fucked.png (1915x1079, 869K)

best mods to make the game even better?

Gaming journalist level of retarded rant on here lol

Lots of people like Nex
Speedup is just a nice mod to have
Any portrait mod that strikes your fancy

Other than that it's just personal choice.

>download this so called epic hidden gem
>click play

OH SHIT BANNERLORD JUST GOT A RELEASE DATE

Jesus christ

Seething console faggot

God I love having an Alpha Core and a Pristine Nanoforge on my capital

Attached: java_2019_08_20_02_21_49_266.jpg (1440x900, 861K)

No you dipshit if you start with a bunch of mods installed you'll get fucking overwhelmed, play without mods for a good chunk of time to get comfortable with the game before you start adding a bunch of shit

you can cheese remnant stations with HI lasers by sniping the unshielded areas from max range; still gotta have a Paragon to have 2 of them frontal and enough defence to tank while you're melting it

I made the mistake of joining the fight.
I basically ran out of ships to field after all of them had their CR ground down to zero. There's ships on both sides still streaming in, so I guess I'll be here for a while...

Attached: screenshot038.jpg (1920x1080, 321K)

what are you talking about; i've never traded a second in my life and most exploring is to collect blueprints/cores/forges for your future colonies - unless you autistically sell everything, long range expeditions are barely profitable
bounties(system bounties/ship and individual ones) are the moneymaker, you just gotta git gud at fleet/ship building and combat

early access only

>hating on exploration
>unless you autistically sell everything, long range expeditions are barely profitable
>bounties(system bounties/ship and individual ones) are the moneymaker
Oh shit nigger, what are you doing?

What's the best big meaty battleship cannon? Mods are fine since I have basically every mod installed. I just want big hard-hitting cannons so I can go full WW2.

>battleship
>WW2
[plane engine roaring in the background]

>found my first Cryosleeper
What do these do again? Should I engage the automated defenses?

Attached: 1565601776431.gif (230x172, 1.33M)

Pretty much every vanilla large energy mount is very strong on Paragon. From mod ones Neutrino neutron lance is particularly vicious because of 4k alpha, but it's still somewhat inferior to tach lance because latter is more flux-efficient, arcs through shields and fucks up entirety of weapon mounts and engines if full battery gets a proper hit on hull.

Attached: hbwghjcwrhb01.png (802x500, 261K)

Attached: fleet.jpg (1245x1990, 515K)

diable: uhlan siege cannon
scy: orion thingy
Neutrino: bullshit lance

delete this

I'm noticing a trend in that the top guns are energy. A problem since I'm flying an Imperium battlecruiser which is almost exclusively ballistic mounts, and medium ones at that.

>IRL its frigates>cruisers>destroyers>frigates
>in starsector it's the exact opposite way around
