I get that that Invader Zim aired between 2001-2006, but the dark/edgy/goth theme it had going for it was nice. In the movie it looks like they just removed all the dark aspects from it, so now it isn't as comfy as it use to be. I still plan to watch the movie though. I haven't heard anything really bad about it, honestly most people have told me it's pretty good.

Yeah, that was a bit odd. Though the tranny thing felt like a joke. It's the character with the lowest voice and he's known for going crazy and doing dumb shit. But they had to be careful not to offend the sjw patrol, lest they be labeled wrong thinkers.

Early 2000s nostalgia already happened on the internet back in 2015-2018, when people were making memes about stuff like skater punk, Shrek, Spy kids, etc. While 90s nostalgia happened on the Internet in 2008-2015.

If you looked at the comic books he made before Zim, Jhonen's comics weren't for kids. They had plenty of violence, cursing and adult humor

It was originally made for airing on Nickelodeon, just like the Rocco special. After the Hey Arnold special performed poorly, Nickelodeon just sat on these and basically gave them to Netflix
