Ferdinand and Hubert seem to be the only two consistently invested in the Empire let alone Edelgard

Right, the "cavalier"-focused unit in each house basically has middle of the line growths so in the short term it'll be trivial. Sylvain's advantage is his higher starting proficiencies and leaning more towards being slightly tankier, and having a budding talent for reason if you want to go for the dark knight meme. Ferdinand is basically middle-of-line in everything but having multiple weapon proficiencies to grind up whatever you want to use fast. Leonie's niche is being the fastest and tankiest while also having good bow growth for eventually moving into bow knight if you feel like it.

Either way, having one or two is a good anchor while the rest of your endgame team settles into their respective niches.

Church route is a lot better and makes sense considering all the eagle students.

It's because a lot of them morally don't support Edelgard. I never played BE but on my BL run everyone I was able to recruit from BE had nothing good to say of her. Meanwhile the GD peoole told me they're happy we don't have to kill Claude and hope he could become a ally.

If you're in a situation where one of your more vulnerable units is out in the open, try to place two decently bulky units perpendicular to the incoming forces, making a wall of sorts and preventing said units from targeting your more vulnerable unit with attacks from multiple sides, which should increase their survivability immensely.
Also, obviously, dead foes can't attack you back, so work on murdering them quicker.

Crests finally stopped being symbol of status or power, so people wouldn't have to suffer like Lysithea or Marianne did, being persecuted or having their lives ruined because of crests.

Nobility isn't a nepotism system anymore. Caspar becomes the Minister of Military Affairs like he should have instead of his parasite leech brother who was going to inherit the title from daddy. The spots in the empire are for people who earn them, not inherit them.

In truth, Edelgard gets the most shit done.

Why was the final boss of Golden Deer so kino?

I unironically liked the BE supports way more than the BL ones, because almost everyone was just a bit dysfunctional at first, before coming together. It was satisfying to see. The BL members were just way too friendly to each other althroughout, without much happening. It feels like half of them are complete filler about cooking together or doing gardening or makeup. I haven't played GD yet, but I poached Marianne from them during BL and really enjoyed her supports, especially with Dimitri.

Things were going to come to a boiling point one way or the other and either way playing her route or any other route, she's the necessary catalyst for reform.
None of the good that comes out of the other three routes comes without Edelgard deliberately toppling the stagnant power structures and creating a power vacuum for a new leader to reform society.

Nothing in her ending reflects that nobility being disestablished. What she establishes is no different than what the church had before, except that now nobility is chosen by herself instead of crests. Quite pointless in my opinion. You get paralogues when you've recruited a relevant character or accepted the side quest during monastery exploration time. Some appear only before the time skip(and are marked as only available until so-and-so) while others will only appear afterwards.
You'll access them by spending the free days going to side mission battles.
