Is it any good?
Remnant From The Ashes
dunno but it looks like asset flip tier jank
It's alright. There isn't much content but It's pretty enjoyable.
Playing it through with a friend, ask me anything you want to know, to answer your question, yes it is good but our expectations were super low from the get go.
Sure
How many biomes are there?
I don't want to drop 40 bucks on this if there's less than 8.
Are there multiple bosses per biome?
Is it dark souls
Are there any stats or leveling up, or is entirely gear based?
>How many biomes are there?
A lot but and it's what surprised me and my friend, we honestly expected the game to be a grey city and sewers all game long, but has a ton of really different biomes and "dungeons" that look really different from each other, all with different enemy variety too.
>Are there multiple bosses per biome?
Yes, we have yet to see repeats, plus bosses sometimes are tied to the playthrough of the host, when i played it on my own first boss i faced was completely different than the one i faced with my friend.
Somewhat, it is way more forgiving than Dark Souls, mostly because you don't lose anything on death and the checkpoints (the equivalent to bonfires here are some glowing red rocks) are aplenty
there's stats
That's a better response than I was expecting.
If I can find some people to play this with, I might pick it up.
How's the weapon variety?
There are 4 worlds including Earth and something like 2-3 bosses per world, they got some cool designs and attacks, but the game likes to fuck you with a super fast/teleporting boss and 3-5 trash mobs on screen at all times, the Forest biome it's the worst with the fastest bosses and mobs. And don't you even dare going above medium encumbrance, even on light you are so slow that you're gonna be buttfucked if you miss a roll on certains bosses.
Also, the final boss is the most stupid shit ever.
It could be fun with friends, took me 10h to do almost everything on my first roll.
Anyone making use of melee without focusing only on that? Seems like its useless unless you go 100% in.
Also, how the fuck do I fight those blocking elite enemies. They just have their swords up, blocking everything and killing me in some stupid charge/whirlwind attack.
Are there any good small guns? I'd like to go Hunting Rifle + Shotgun but there's nothing with some spread for handguns it seems.
There is either pistols or SMG.
Both, you can upgrade your weapons ala Dark Souls (+1,+2,etc up to +10) and slap mods on them, for example there is one that highlights all enemies and increases crit chance by 15%, or one that makes you shoot fire bullets for 30 seconds. But yes there is also normal leveling, you can even unlock perks by progression, for example if you team up with someone you unlock a perk called Teamwork.
(We have yet to beat the game but we dumped like 10 hours on it so far) But all weapons be it guns or melee are different from each other, so you won't for example see 5 different kinds of shotguns. Plus as i mentioned you can slap mods on them to make them do different things, they even modify the appareance of your weapon slightly.
ive been having a whole lot of fun with it so far. my friend that ive been playing with is ahead of me on his solo file and every boss that weve fought has been a completely different one to what he had. theres definitely a lot of enemy / boss variety.
>tfw preordered on ps4 and got cucked out of the VIP early weekend
excited to play tonight though. What archetype is the best to start with? And are the pre-order armors good looking or shit
I'm a poorfag who can't afford a VPN or this game. Sucks to be stuck.
Something to add that really blew our minds, the game uses a lot of "gimmicks" to make things interesting, one of the dungeons we went through was filled with a gas that hurted us, but healed us everytime we killed an enemy, it was fun to run as fast as we could trying to find loot. Another case was a dungeon filled with booby traps like mines and the like.
Then the most interesting one, there were some pressure plates on the floor we had to stand on, if we stood on the wrong one all of them will rise again and enemies would spawn in, the reward was worth it
I'll be honest. I've been pretty much burned out by games but IÄm enjoying this because its system is very simple. Pick a gun, pick a nice looking armor and just go shoot and explore in the world. Nothing complicated and you can just enjoy the gameplay.
Though it looks like there are many builds you can do.
at the rate the threads die I'm gonna guess no
I wanna buy this cuz I'm finally in a loot shooter mood but at the same time Monster Hunter is 20 bucks and I don't know which one to go for
I'm gettin a big "wait for sale" vibe.
If you want to grind and a ton of gear variety, Monster Hunter, if you want to shoot, this one.
I got lucky my country currency conversion made it cheap, but so far i am not dissapointed in my buying.
I bought Monhun twice and I was never disappointed.
Now I'm just waiting for Iceborne on PC.
MH gives you more bang for your buck. They both play very differently though. MH is almost entirely boss fights with a melee focus where Remnant is more of a Dark Souls go from area to area clearing mobs and then fighting a boss.
Looked up a Let's Play; seems okay to me, but not forty euroshekels okay.
I'd consider Sekiro for that, but not this. Maybe on a sale.
How long is the game in your opinion? Is it well optimized?
how long is it, i hate short games
From what i am reading seems like i am in the last game area, we are around 10 hours into the game. But as mentioned the key aspect of the game is the randomized aspects each playthrough, dungeons layouts are different and there is even different "events". When i played through it my first dungeon was a simple hallway with a crazy dude at the end with a cool looking mask that attacked me and i got his mask from his body. In the other hand with my friend in the first ever dungeon we found a dying dude that gave us a key to his shack that had a revolver inside, so the game has tons of replay value it seems.
sounds like it's a rougelike thats 15 ish hours per run, sounds cool hope they add more stuff to it
Oh and forgot to mention, at a point in the game we met an NPC that sent us to kill a boss to get it's heart for him, on our way to the boss we found another NPC that also wanted the same heart, we could also outright "no way fag" to the first guy but we didn't because we were saving that for a second playthrough
Is it out already to buy?
I believe if you pre-order you can play now.
Why?
Is anyone playing it with a controller? How is it?
stop playing shooters on pad you fool
it's been cracked for 2 days
don't buy it unless you plan to coop with a pal
It's comfy, and I have no issue aiming with the sticks.
Not that guy but I'm pretty sure I have carpal tunnel beginning to onset in my right wrist and I ain't using a mouse every again for games because I fear that shit.
fix your posture, that's all you need to prevent spicy carpal tunnel
I already got an email from my internet provider telling me to fuck off with pirating. Should i risk it?
I couldn't be more straight backed with a ninety degree bend of the elbow and a straight wrist if I tried. It flares up whenever I start making sudden movements.
get a vpn my dude, otherwise depends on your country I guess
hm, either your desk is too high up or maybe try an other mouse?
Do what you want cause a pirate is free
I don't know how to get a vpn without buying it
you don't
Why don't you just pirate your VPN?
holy shit ur right!
Twk
I use an xbone controller and it's okay
remember to turn off aim assist/view snapping though, that shit's for faggots
you won't be doing too much sniping with a controller, but there are plenty of "point in direction, brapp enemy" guns and melee is fine
I still need to try telling both of them to fuck off and keep the heart for myself to see what I can build from it next time I reset my world
it's surprisingly well optimized
everything on ultra except gay options like motion blur and it putters smoothly on an old 970 i5 build with 8gb of ram
you will want an SSD for load times, but who the fuck doesn't have an SSD now?
>stats are instantly displayed with gear
that's already a huge bonus compared to The Division 2
thanks
Sadly you gotta give the heart to progress, we gave it to the first NPC and we came back to the second one, but her dialogue didn't changed or anything and was still going "i await your return" and shit, though If you open you advanced stats in the chamber of the first NPC, you will see it massively overlevels you at the bottom, so assuming he is not an easy one.
Now that you posted this, i forgot to mention my gripe with the game, "pausing" doesn't stops time, but i would like if they did it like Dark Souls and allowed you to move as you menu manage things around, instead you gotta stand completely still.
rip
it's worth giving butterfly queen the heart for your first playthrough imo - the undying king boss fight gets you a ridiculously good burst-fire sniper and the fight itself is really easy if you have any sort of aggro-control specials like the spore pod or ravager spawner
Noted, in case you were wondering, from the undying king we got a Scythe that has lifesteal
note that killing him also gives you this
not sure if you get it (or something else) by going the peaceful route
All I hear about it is that it's like Dark Souls.
And people I know who like Dark Souls are some of the most boring people I've ever met. No offense if you do, I mean I'm sure there's some cool people that do. It's just everyone that I've met.
why are you still torrenting games? if you just DDL your ISP - or more specifically, the IP holder bitching to them - won't know what you're downloading.
Reminder that you can purchase from the crafting materials vendor in other peoples games. Destock them.
yup, I always blitz to their vendor when I join pub matches
it's made a huge difference
