Epic crippled themselves already, its a no contest.
>Gave
He never Gabe a shit.
I don't think he gives a shit. He's bathing in cash as it is
Because the Epic business model isn't actually sustainable and their PR consists entirely of shills and the developers they bought off telling their fans to go fuck themselves.
Epic is killing itself just fine without Valve doing anything.
Never stop your enemy when they are making a mistake - French Manlet
He has. He said it's great that their customer have more choices.
>Because the Epic business model isn't actually sustainable
why not? they're selling games just as steam is AND giving the devs a bigger cut
Epic admitted their current strategy is not viable in the long term and are only doing it to force people onto their platform.
The goal is to make money and they aren't making any on EGS. Its a money sink right now.
>they're selling games just as steam
lol no they're not you fucking retard, they're "Guaranteed Sales" which means Epic is literally faking sales figures by buying copies themselves.
They are doing blog posts about the top releases on the store each month now.
That's something I guess.
>steamcommunity.com
>dropped their cut for successful games to 20-25%
>customer review censorship
>instantly went to Bethesda and 2K to keep their largest titles exclusive on Steam
He/Valve has done plenty behind the scenes.
Epic's model is unsubtainable and being carried by UE and Fortnite money. Also Valve acknowleding them at all paints them as a legitimite competitor.
The joke is anyone who made a mildly successful game could already negotiate lower cuts for future titles, according to domestic dog/squirrel monkey ball dev that used to post here.
Where does someone go to find this? I'm on the news tab all day and I've never seen these.
There's a button right next to the green letter icon in the top right and it usually lights up whenever they post anything there.
Valve has the autistic mustardrace legion on his side. The chicks can't win this.
I'm on the web version right now (I'm at work) but I think I know what you're talking about. I've never seen it light up though. Thanks.
Because Epic isn't a threat to Valve, especially if they don't heavily invest in their store and blow all their money on timed exclusives.
the only winning move is not to play
EGS is not profitable and won't be unless they gain a fuckton of users. All valve has to do is just wait it out, and not make any big mistakes. A public fight opens them up to risk.
Their only goal was to forcefully build a strong userbase as fast as possible before stopping the timed-exclusives. They didn't invest nearly as much as they should have in their own store.
>investing in your store is bad
>but if they don't invest that's also bad
they will run out of money eventualy
>>investing in your store is bad
?????
Because responding is exactly what Tim wants him to do so then he can go and complain that Steam is a monopoly actively shutting out upstarts to corner the market. Epic is bankrolled by Fortnite AKA digital fidget spinners, they're gonna fizzle out eventually.
ive not known a single person who goes "oh, i'll have a look at what the Epic store has on sale today! good golly gee"
their store doesnt get eyeballs. People only download EGS to get the games they already have in mind.
but with Steam you'll likely have hundreds of games that you have bought during a sale but never played. That is what Steam is good at, driving sales and having the library to be able to do so.
Investing in your store is good if it's actual features. Listing games that are only available on your store are NOT features and is NOT considered investing in your store. Games are forgotten usually within a year, while features can remain throughout the product's lifetime.
>THEY MAKE MONEY
>they literally do not make money
>REEE WHEN ARE YOU SATISIFIED???
Cheng you gotta step it up, my man. Jesus.
>$200,000
i don't get it
This. Gabe is playing the long con. He'll win and devs will come crawling back without him doing a single thing about it. Its actually kind of funny.
I doubt Gabe even cares, he is rich now.
No1 doesn't talk about No2
>happened before epic
>user reviews has been getting adjustments for years
>also available on bethesda launcher
the man in the picture, doug walker, took in $200,000 in patreon cash to improve his nostalgia critic setup; but as his production quality demonstrably remained the same, it's generally accepted that doug and his brother pocketed the lot
what's that got to do with the joker from suicide squad
Epic isn't as big as shills and fake accounts make it seem
yeah he cares
>I'm on the web version right now (I'm at work)
are you explaining why you aren't on a phone? fucking phoneposters
That's pretty ironic when you look at Steam.
Lmao it’s really the other way around, people really don’t give a shit, they’ll go anywhere to play games. If you think little rinky dink threads like this are doing anything to their sales you’re awfully naive
What is there to react to? All Epic has done so far is trying to build a marketing image of egs doing well and being an option. At the same time Epic doesn't want games who aren't exclusive. So even they know their numbers would get obliterate the second steam enters the same ring. It's only epic drones who believe a state like that is competitive.
He's too busy working on Half Life 3.
sure thing valvecuck
epic is the biggest competitor to valve in years
To this day I haven't managed to pass the 1 minute mark. fucking hell
Valve doesn’t do shit but babysit cs:go and Dota
No, I browse on my work PC but it's not there. I always forget to specific because I keep forgetting phoneposters exist.
This but unironically. Valve went full panic mode when Epic started getting high profile exclusives. Epic's method is probably the only method to properly compete with Steam, other than having Steam kill itself, naturally.
>Valve went full panic mode
???
Although I'm just as retarded as one. Holy shit that censor job is terrible. Oh well. If you wanted to add me for whatever reason, you can :^)
Being a better store is how you compete with Steam. Before you say GOG as a counter example, GOG is for more niche games more than anything else.
On a tangent, this is more the reason why I hate the epic exclusivity, it hurts GOG as well.
They announced the 20-25% cut for popular games a couple of weeks after Epic started. Then they started censoring reviews by removing "review bombs", which is one of the major concerns of publishers on Steam. For a Valve fanboy you're poorly informed about your company.
>Valve went full panic mode
When?
>Being a better store is how you compete with Steam
Literally 10 stores have tried over the last 10 years and none of them succeeded. This is the only method of "competing" with Valve. Deal with it.
>Deal with it
No. I don't want a competitor to use bad practices to compete rather than good business sense. All Epic had to do was ride off of the success of Fortnite and the unreal engine by implementing a store that has features that steam is lacking. I mean, it's not like they don't have tencent money to help them properly create and maintain a store with features that should be expected of the store.
Also what are the ten stores you are talking about?
Epic is the store for Zoomers. Steam is the store for 30 y/o boomers
Did those 10 stores have a better service to offer than valve? No? Then eat shit.
>the only way to compete with valve is to create a store thats worse in every way and outright bribe people to use it
stop posting such retarded shit and speak like a normal person
he literally has too much money to care
fuck online storefronts, only gog is not guilty
>donating on patreon
they were clever
Not to mention he’s going to retire any day now. I’m sure he’s fucking tired of it all
When has Gabe ever addressed anything
>epic is the biggest competitor to valve in years
Only as long as they shovel millions into the devs back. They first have to reach the stage where they don't have to do that. Maybe in a couple years things are different. But currently it's mostly just epic doing everything to damage their image while being afraid to compete directly with steam.
They try to push VR and supposedly work on 3 VR games.
are they still working on deaf people representation in half life 3 that they felt the need to tell everyone despite not ever working on the game
you're accidentally right
you DO realise he uses the epic games store right?
>deaf people representation in half life 3
what?
And I use steam, so I'm no better. GoG and pirating are only alternatives.
>Epic's method is probably the only method to properly compete
If they are lucky it might work out but how they do it heavily decreases their odds which wouldn't be necessary. Trying to compete by forcing people into using your service while at the same time having a really bad service and being surprised people complain. That's so bad it makes one wonder if they are even trying or if they just have some incompetent manager.
what epic presence?
Epic's strategy hinges entirely on Fortnite.
Fortnite won't last forever. There WILL be a tipping point.
Why are you spreading misinformation?
steamcommunity.com
Steam new revenue share announced December 1

Do you honestly think that means anything?
>EDF5
EDF !!
Go to news on the home page and then click steam blog on the right
top fucking kek how dumb are you? they have unreal engine, they dont need fortnut or egs to survive
>growing Epic presence
I'm pretty sure it's smaller than it was 8 months ago.
He doesn't need to do anything. Epic is its own worst enemy.
Because he's scared shitless that somebody has the balls to stand against muh steam. Probably rolling in his own feces, tears streaking down his face as I type this
Steam already won this fight. They've been fighting for over a decade to bring PC users games and features at the prices and convenience they demand. Then go above and beyond with stuff that no one really asked for but is a nice side-dish. What more could they possibly do to fight Epic? Just look around. Steam's users are rabidly loyal. They don't need to be bought or bribed. This fight was over before Epic showed up.
Maybe if Epic had all the charm and features of Valve and Steam's launcher, they would have stood a chance. But, they clearly don't give a fuck about their launcher and are trying to win by focusing on other shit PC gamers don't care about, like developer cuts and buying exclusives (which is making them more enemies than allies).
He's still making bank and therefore couldn't give a shit.
