and epic exclusive, tim has taste
but why though
>first kerbal reveal is a girl
Nah, looks like shit.
who cares, the first game is shit and this one will be too
let me guess, it'll be early access too?
Tbh I will buy this even if its an epic exclusive, not many games would make me do that
The website even says it will be multiplayer
Will they half-ass everything then steal mods their hardworking players created to fix their game this time too?
Not sure how to feel about a slick-ass trailer for KSP, but they still acknowledged the jank/unintentional hilarity so so I have some faith
Thank you for paying for me, Tim!
sweet, now I get to pirate it
ty based tim
Based Tim paying for my pirated games.
>KSP without mods
Being epic exclusive would be a disaster for these spics, since they took the Bethesda approach with their first game and Epic seems like it would be shitty for mods. Can you still get the first game without steam from their site?
All Private Division games are EGS exclusive m8.
It's published by Private Division, they love giving Tim a rimjob.
I don't care where it is, Day 1 buy for me no matter what
I played KSP when it got first posted on Yea Forums, before the game had other planets or moons to visit and even getting to space was hard, and I haven't looked back since
Best game ever
If you are fine with piracy, just pirate every single game. Why would you give a fuck which platform it is on.
holy fuck
Ching chong ping pong eat a dog die in an escalator
Easy pirate, I don't care. This game has enough whales.
>same game as 1 but with added trees around the launch pad
lmao
Fuck off I said it's a day one purchase no matter what

BASED MILKING EPIC SHILLS
They showed a nuclear pulse rocket in the pre-alpha gameplay
What are your thoughts on Winnie the Pooh? Or should I say, Xi Win Pooh?
Looking forward to folks trying to make threads in /vg/ and not knowing the earth is salted.
This is actually looking good.
>Steam
>Looks good
>better physics
BASED
Can't wait to pirate it.
>being this mad about replying to old posts.
Because Squad sold it to take-2 for trillion pesos and that publisher gave it to another developer to use the IP for something profitable.
I really hope this won't be a flop like everything else. So far it looks promising desu.
Question is, would you preorder it?
based manpatrician
Holy fuck
weren't squad complete hacks anyway? I mean from a technical point KSP was always janky as fuck, because it was initially thrown together as a side-gig by an employee who had too much time.
they didnt even finished the first game yet
wtf
IMAGINE THE KERBAL CATAPULT
IMAGINE
itll be a $60 early access title
Why though? WHYYYYYYYYY?
There is no reason for a sequel to be made.
Ksp is alpha in comparision to ksp 2 desu.
post feet satch
Absolutely no way Tim isn't snatching this one up.
Exactly. But the question was not why KSP still is largely unfinished (arguably), the question was why KSP2 exists to begin with. It is for the same reason nuDOOM had to exist; Zenimax cant make money off of re-selling an open source game from 20 years ago and 2k/take2 cant make money off of a jank physics engine that's been on sale by Brazilians for 10 years now.
>first post immediately regresses to shitposting
thanks Yea Forums hasn't school started back up for you?
Looking forward to the Laythe and Skunky DLC
Fucking hell i'd fuck a teenage boy.
KSP is now owned by Take-Two, are their games Epic exclusives?
The original KSP devs now work for Valve, so I guess no new game will ever be made from them.
Bitch I've been shitposting about this game and a ragtag bunch of Mexicans since 20fucking11.
I can make this in KSP already though, why would I be interested in a sequel
Not enough water
If they actually redevelop the game from the ground up, I wouldn't mind paying full price for it.
Then again it could also be a shoddy cashgrab, I'll reserve judgment until the thing is actually out
KSP has been shitposting for years though
Most assuredly.
Becuase it's shiny and new and they made a trailer with epic music.
so, is the general coming back?
in the sequel you can fly to other solar systems with it
Just pirate it like everybody else.
SQUAD is so hilariously corrupt and incompetent that only a complete fucking moron would give them any money.
If they add multicore support, better optimization, new and custom (procedural) parts, colonization and new solar systems I am sold.
They already confirmed there is colonization and new solar systems, they already showed new parts (nuclear pulse engine for example). All we need to see is the performance.
I hope the game ends up looking like the announcement video. its a fucking long shot, but a man can dream
Oh there goes that shitty sci-fi Savage 2 ripoff
KSP2 is not made by Squad though
I watched the dev video, they're a different company
Wait is ancestors epic exclusive?
I was actually interested in that one
What happened?
He was talking about the first KSP which SQUAD still gets a cut of every sale iirc.
It's also been many years since I was involved with the game, so I could be wrong.
yes
Are the /vg/ filters still autosaging any attempts? I can't imagine any good would come of letting that party start again.
i don't really mind it because its a literal new game that wasn't announced first on steam, like 90% of the other games Epic nabbed.
Put your trip on Max
>/kspg/
Oh god. I hope we will avoid this shit for this time
Mods are comfirmed for this.
Nice.
because it seems to have all the stuff the mods do from the get go. This means that they are integrated into the game and optimized to run without problem, which sounds good, but we'll have to see if its true.
>the question was why KSP2 exists to begin with.
sometimes its easier to start something new from the ground up, than to deal with several years of spaghetti code.
Speaking of KSP. They released new addon after Making History. Is it worth replaying game?
if you want
Its just wacky moving parts.
Its shit. You cant make tilting wings without mods cause they flap. Basically anything tilting while in flight is a big no no. Its useless cause you can just decouple shit in 0 g basically a toy.
I fucking love rings
Sorry for the ugly spacecraft
you dont need a workshop for mods, egs is drm free based retard
apparently the thread is bumping
hullo
Based tim paying for my games
I hope it will be less janky than with the mexibutts
Because fuck Epic exclusively and exclusivity
An engine that doesn't chug from anything mildly complicated is the only thing that matters.
Tim is probably emailing Take-Two right now to make KSP2 EGS-exclusive.
For fuck's sake.
Archived the FAQ where it says it'll come to Steam and wishlisted just in case.
I stopped playing KSP years ago, why did people start to hate it?
cry me a river steamie
Prepare to be disappointed
Not about game but about /vg/ posters.
It was so bad that mods were forced to ban /kspg/ threads
...what the fuck.
how?
anyone remember max from wowradio?
we shitpost 2 gud
fuck off max
i do. what about him?
Day one pirate. They never finished the first one.
KSP creator has an rc plane sim game now
Balsa Model Simulator iirc
Don't lie faggot
Wasn't that the dude on the dev team who posted in kspg and acted like a fag?
the only good thing that came from this thing, if it comes to steam, I'll buy, until then it's gonna be free for me
so what new things do you think the new devs will add? dedicated mod tools?
SCAWT MANLEH
almost like conspiracy theorists form their views on emotions without evidence
What actually happened is that the devs kinda of abandoned the game for a while, with the game getting fewer and fewer updates, more bugs and the posters started to complain about the cut content like no resources and multiplayer while the space mexicans started ti jew the player base with catchphrases like "unity not us" and the russian dude behind b9 couldn't stop asking for satchs feet which attracted a cabal of attention whore tranny posters and a zoophifag who used to post pics of him molesting his cat and the original posters abandoned the general which ending zombieing out for about a year to the point that there was nothing remotely related to space being discussed and the mods decided to finally ban it the End.
I learned so much about orbital mechanics from KSP
I work in shipping so I don't know how I will ever use any of it
Check projectrho if you want to learn more about hard sf and shiet. Don't become pseudo intellectual tho
>tfw they baited me into buying the first one during the summer sale
NOOOOOOOOOOO
KSP 1 is a great game, but the engine itself has some serious flaws:
>no multicore support at all
>runs internaly in 32 bit
>graphics are not that good
>kraken always around the corner
The game is great, but its engine is pretty much maxed out and unrelieable.
Any serious player gets issues when launching big ships as all the calculations for aerodynamics, engines, kinetics etc. are done on just one single core.
Single digit framerates during launch are often expected at this point when your parts count got a little high.
To fix all of this, they have to use a different engine, wich basicly means starting from ground up again aka new game.
Simple, space shipping!
WTF?!?!?!? the first was fucking perfect, imagine a second KSP, good shit
Mexican'ts never finished the game.
>make station
>it's woobly woobly
>launch station

>I SPY A NUCLEAR PULSE ORION DRIVE OPTION
>(also antimatter drive)
Fucking sold AAHHHHH
Looks awesome.
>and epic exclusive, tim has taste
>store.steampowered.com
Stupid faggot and everyone else who bought this bait. KSP is way too popular and the nerds behind it way to interested in having everyone play it to succumb to any exclusivity bullshit.
>different dev
People might shit on Squad but they did make KSP what it was. It's highly unlikely another dev will manage to replicate that.
I dunno dude, we did so many stupid things I can't see this going any way but up.
This is the biggest station I've ever made, and it was solid as fuck because I used that mod that makes things more stiff, but my fps dropped to 5 when I went anywhere near it.
It was so unwieldy I gave up the idea of making stations and land bases (from those mods)
It'll be on GOG too DRM free just like it is now, which is where I'll be getting it.
>radiation shields on nuclear engines
>project orion engines
damn
the only with i have is that they hire the dude that made CoaDE and add CoaDE level of customization on all the parts in the game, everything from engines, meteor shields, landing legs solar panels and radiators.
i always said KSP+CoaDE+maybe simplerockets 2 is my perfect game.
Published by Private Division you retard. Doesn't matter what the devs want.
>we
Lord be praised, Squad has come to visit us!
I've been here since Cracky, I can never leave.
>KSP is way too popular and the nerds behind it way to interested in having everyone play it to succumb to any exclusivity bullshit.
what is borderlands
If they have solid multicore support and make full use of modern accelerated high precision operations I'd have zero problems paying full price for it day 2 (not day 1 because I want user reviews to verify this first).
I'm mildly worried though that they'll insist on still supporting toasters from forever ago which will cripple it. At least the timeframe means that maybe consoles won't destroy things for once, 2020 launch means it might be for the PS5 & XTwo and thus have Zen 2 as a baseline there, which would mean that hardware instruction level support will be about the same as PC would be, even if clocked lower.
>dock to station for refueling
>can't undock because ship explodes when undocking
>First game still not out of Alpha
>Already announce second one
lolwut
>Doesn't matter what the devs want.
Depends on what their contract says. Not every publisher is a gigantic mega behemoth that controls every aspect of what they publish user. Developers are in fact quite free to demand conditions like "you must publish on every platform" as part of the deal.
>what is borderlands
A game with no nerds behind it? The KSP guys are rocket science nerds, which is why the game actually uses real physics (though the standard game has sometimes modified physical constants or allowed unreal materials for the fun factor, but the equations using those constants are the real deal even if not high precision).
If fucking Obsidian can't do it for Outer World then these guys have no hope.
this was kino
>The KSP guys are rocket science nerds
No they aren't. The original programmer who left years ago was one.
>MULTIPLAYER CONFIRMED
Oh boyy
Half the dev team was shitposting in the general at one point or the other.
KSP 2 isn't made by squad.
I remember I started KSP early but I didn't remember the exact date
I just checked my old YouTube account, I uploaded a video of reaching escape velocity on July 15th, 2011, about 20 days after the initial release
>tfw ducked out of /kspg/ years ago
Always wondered what happened to it. Was the only place on this site to have autistic discussions about spaceflight history
WHAT ENGINE IS IT RUNNING ON?
PLEASE GOD DON'T TELL ME IT'S UNITY
It's unity.

i don't believe you.

Oh cool they officially added a bunch of mods and updated the graphics all for a cool $60.
you idiot. it's known to be lifted for 2 months now.
Huh, nice.
it takes time and money to integrate all of them into one single package that doesn't crash or creates problems and the new game its probably being made from the ground up (specially because it has a native multiplayer). Its worth its price, whatever its going to be.
And you can literally see people using Unity in the fucking trailer, look at the screen on the left
is that a gundam on his desk?
>2
Wait. Is the first game finished already?
Nope, and it will keep getting updates according to the FAQ.
What the fuck is the point of this then? Multiplayer and more planets?
>What the fuck is the point of this then?
Mankind's biggest motivator: greed.
Only 20 bucks for their newest DLC.
You might not buy it, but thousands of others will.
They better be using some new version that supports 64 bit worldspace coordinates or it's going to suffer the same problems as the first.
Yh looks like the heavy arms gundam
First game actually finished long ago. It is on consoles.
and colonies and more solar systems. Ideally, the game its also made from the ground up in order to avoid a decade old spaghetti code.

I thought I saw an Orion drive in that, fucking rad.

Sexy as fuck
>KSP2
Oh no, I hope snakefucker and catfucker don't find out about this
It's pretty obvious.
If you bought KSP before 2012, you got all future DLC for free. That's a pretty big chunk of lost revenue for 2K, who now owns KSP.
Rather than continue to lose money on free content, it's more profitable in the long term to make an entirely new game which won't be bound by the same DLC agreement as the first one.

I'm always so far behind the curve
This isn’t Squad so hopefully no.
I cant imagine too much changing in terms of physics. So think of ksp1 as practice.
Do you think they may implement n-body physics?
On one hand making satellite networks and keeping stable orbits would become a pain, on the other hand it would unlock all sorts of new options like lagrange points.
Better graphics and you don’t have to dedicate your life to an endless cycle of unfucking all the mods until an update renders all that work basically useless.
Guys, if I shoot a load of my sperm into space and it lands on a planet that is just starting the whole life thing. Does that mean I have fathered everything on that planet?
no.

That's a good thing.
Fuck Squad, bunch of beaner scum.
>In-orbit ship building
fucking finally
judging from the trailer, they have the right ideas set on stone.
Best place to put a telescope
There is a KSP mod that adds telescopes and forces you to discover other planets manually, but it got old fast and I uninstalled it
If they implement the ability to build space forklifts that can maneuver parts, and then you can use some vanilla version of KSP to weld the shit together, I'll die a happy man.
Not just in-orbit shipbuilding, but also land bases (colonies) with launchpads as well.
There is probably a special menu for building bases, because they mentioned how gravity loads after unpausing that menu and it results in kerbal situations.
>We can finally have native space combat.

FINALLY
No, your sperm can't just sit around and replicate asexually. If you were very lucky, a bit of your RNA might keep chugging and eventually turn into something recognizable in a billion years
oh fuck. with the right mods in theory you could have a combat server that could be a combination of halo and planetside 2 with kerbals dropping from the atmosphere in drop pods trying to take control of the colonies(basically planting and removing flags), SSTOs making bombing runs, dedicated interceptors deterring those SSTOs and battleships fighting other battleships for the control of the LKO...ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Chimp out all you want, NSA-amerimutt. Rise of the reds will continue while your jewish nigger country keeps on stagnating and rotting.

The craziest thing is that this actually might be possible. I mean the original ksp had a FPS mod for crying out loud! (although it's been abandoned for years now).
>KSP
>multiplayer
Have fun. Maybe you'll see one other player as they zip past at 500 m/s.
2019.... I am forgotten
I wanna see more about this. Particularly a better UI and more streamlined controls. I don't want it casualized, but I wish the game would detect when some controls are useless in certain situations so you can use those keys or buttons for something else.
some sort of localized, auto slowdown when players get in range and both have it enabled
permitting hassle free close contact and formation keeping
I actually want to see autistic space combat like on picrelated. Is it even possible to recreate?
that's the exiting thing. Supposing that the combat server has no more than....20 people? the planet they are fighting on is small enough like laythe and nobody goes batshit insane with the creations, it definitely is possible.
My first Duna mission was assembled in orbit from tier 4 parts. Git gud.
No they aren't mexican anymore.
The original Squad team was hired by Valve anyway. They're no longer there.
>What is ksp interstellar
>Having to lead targets
Yeah thats already possible faggot, try that weapons mod for KSP and have a miniwar.
tfw i bought ksp in 2011. I remember my first moon landing. I had no idea what the navball did and had to land by eye. Sure the command pod got dislodged but I landed and was proud. Had that screenshot as my desktop for years. Now I cant find it anywhere.

the in the steam page there are already "ingame" images and they look very close to the trailer. the only thing that its lacking is the raytracing and the post production.
If this runs at 5 FPS there's no reason to get hyped for it.
that's not the developer's problem. But it makes me wonder how much the game will weight.
Looks like Project Daedalus
I really hope they will put more efforts. I'ts space. Not like you need to render realistic forest and realistic models of actors. Especially when they already announcing game on current gen consoles

Get KSP now to learn basic orbital mechanics to land on the Mun. It's only old because it came out in 2012 but it has gotten several new updates.
no they didn't
then what is this?

Just that, unity is fucking shit
engine change and integrate other basic stuff into the base game without having to deal with years of spaghetti code.

same reason that soulless risk of rain 2 trash was made
Thanks, should have also said that.
Unity is a robust engine.
>Contrarian
You are not cool
Who
Because Epic covers the dev, so by pirating it I'm making them waste money, which I find hilarious.
Too good to be true. We don't live in such a kind world unfortunatelly
Have hope, man. if it was done before -albeit on a much smaller scale- it can be done better and bigger.
don't worry bros. i know c# and have used Unity for years. if it's not possible i'll mod it in.
yumbo yet
the main problem would be creating the dedicated...software? so that the server is capable of synchronizing all the players(something that might be ready with the base KSP). and render distances, so that the guy fighting on the ground doesn't have to render the guys on orbit (which might also be ready with the base game). all in all, the easiness of creating a combat server heavily depends on how the native multiplayer works.
That's realistic space combat.
It gets even better if one of you is in a polar or retrograde orbit...
>Up to me to build a super battleship to save our ass
>constantly get bombed while trying to build and having to start over from scratch
or
>get done with building battleship, match is over and everyone has already left
there could be a system like planetside 2 where the two teams have a single invulnerable base/orbital works/colony and the match literally never ends. OR you have prebuilt ships that you can spawn, but compared to the custom creations they are mediocre.
I thought we we'ren't supposed to talk about it?
It has potential
>somehow KSP2 combat mod works
>it's interesting and popular big brain fun like dogfighting in sims
>people writes 50 pages guide of "how to"
I only can dream
as long as everybody plays with unlimited fuel, i can definitely see it.
What happened with it again? Wasn't it the most intense form of distilled autism the likes of which has seldom been seen?
>Even mentions the site Atomic Rockets
ok im hyped
I am from Mexico and I am happy we created, funded and developed the first game but now the sequel being handled by a different team makes me sad.
Something taken from /sci/
>maybe the combat should be restricted to jool, Kerbin or any other planet that has multiple moons? those binary planets seem interesting enough.
....
>No limits, only depends on how hard you want to make it for yourself. Noobs get a base on low gravity worlds with easier access to unique resources (they're almost certainly gonna have stuff like fusion fuel for high tech propulsion floating around in Jool's atmosphere for example), veterans get more difficult and resource poor starting worlds, elder gods get the really difficult worlds to start from (imagine trying to fight back an invading force when you're limited to what you can launch from Eve's surface). New planets in other star systems are obviously a wildcard.
>Lightning round is where everyone picks a Joolian moon, fast paced but a winner is decided quickly and there's nowhere to run. Eternal war is played across multiple star systems, it's effectively impossible to completely eradicate any enemy, although it may be possible to invade with overwhelming force all at once and attempt hostile takeover of a valuable planet or moon. Lots of game modes and rule sets to imagine.

Dare I say B A S E D
Looks like according to comments even this game has problems with performance if a lot ships on screen. Calculating physics in real time for multiple ships is big problem for space sims I assume?

Yes we know, this is a good thing.
>being so uncreative that you need a tangible objective to play a sandbox game
the graphics are basically what space engine did years ago
There was a massive pay dispute where the studio owner didn't pay the developers and they all walked off, he brought in new people and put out a couple of patches, but pretty much nothing was developed after that point. Don't know how KSP2 is going to be.

I fucking hate this format, you see it all over youtube now
it has been resown
the second coming of /kspg/ is upon us!
REJOICE!
I like the new build aesthetic though, much better looking than the haphazard haggardly KSP aesthetic
what mods you using?
>haggardly
Meant raggedy
t.brainlet
Unlike real life more is better in KSP. You want to leave the incredibly thick lower atmosphere as quick as possible and solid boosters are dirt cheap.
why would I want to dl a game that will inevitably have malware on it?
You pirate it.
didnt they royally fuck up the first one in some pretty serious way?
Im frightened user
THIS IS OUR TIME
Turn that fear into rocket fuel
This
That's Squad. This is PD.
>STILL no fucking clouds
gay
As a Mexican be disappointed that girl isn’t mexican
Caring about shit like that is what cripples games, fuck off.
Don't make this hard on both of us. Stay dead and I’ll leave the general alone. Bring your nothing-adding back and we can start this party right up again.
Tim only has taste as long as people dance to his tune if DARQ was any indication.
Why are they like lime green though?
I always thought they were yellow with a little tinge of green. These fuckers are little green men.
Also
>game's visuals don't even look remotely more impressive
Then they have the audacity to put that prerendered shit on there.
I love ksp, jank and all, but they shouldn't even try to pretend like the game is anywhere close to what goes on in that trailer.
Based.
I remember this from the Interstellar mod. Scaled it to 20m, no way in hell it would ever get in orbit, but was nice to look at
Soul
And now its on the base game and we can actually build it on orbit. Amazing.
I want to get back into KSP and I never played it with mods
What are the essential mods?
The one and only interesting thing announced imo.
I haven't played the first in a long while but I look forward to this.
I only play it with Realism Overhaul, RP-0/1 and all the associated recommended mods that go along with it.
With colonies I hope to god they implement the routine mission manager mod.
>certify craft for flight
>automate the restocking of resources
The dev footage looks awful. Worse than the original ksp and it was running at like 8 fps.
>Kerbal is optimized
I literally just snorted milk out of my nose and not I am not even drinking milk
thats the cum leaking out of your brain.
With mods it will.
I havent played KSP for yeeeaaaarrrs. Did they ever ad in resource gathering and shipping? Did they ever add a reason to go to other planets?
I always wanted to do shit like make mining ships and stations, so i could ship things back home and make bigger and better ships with the materials.
Yes. It's very simplified (1 resource, 1 conversion to fuel). simple planet scanning for resources and Easter eggs.
They added achievements and career mode to unlock new tech if you want to go that route.
>make it look prettier and run shittier
but what to expect from a tiny indie company like Take-Two Interactive©®
>trailer actually looks really fucking cool
>"not actual gameplay" pops up
Lol, Epic is one of the good ones, this literally cannot be real lol
hold the phone, did /kspg/ get so fucking out of hand that mods stepped in? i don't know if i'm glad i left /vg/ for good or upset that i don't find that kind of nonsense fun anymore
w h o l e s o m e
no, it's an inertial confinement fusion torch engine. Look up the Daedalus project.
yes
They look the same.
>474767405
You're all really determined to make this dead buzzword a thing, aren't you?
>trailer almost brings tears to my eyes because I know Ill never be a space man standing on a cliff of some alien world excited to start colonizing and building
>t. hasn't played a current version of Ksp for 4 years minimum
Best KSP youtuber coming through
youtube.com
Got to go fast still saves delta v in the latest versions.
No, the antimatter engine you posted has very thick and massive antimatter bottles and guns surrounding the reaction chamber, Daedalus has a large but thin nozzle and an array of ignition lasers (also, the nozzle has to be big in order to sit just outside the radius at which the fusing fuel pellet's radiated light and heat become spread out enough that the nozzle won't be melted or eroded over time; how big it needs to be depends on how much fuel is being fused per pellet, but there's a minimum scale under which the engine can't be made to work anymore, going bigger makes the problems easier).
>did /kspg/ get so fucking out of hand that mods stepped in?
/kspg/ had a dedicated shitposter that would literally just talk about wanting to fuck cats, and posting pictures of cat dicks. He would just ban evade and come back again and again. We called him Catfucker. Between him and several other shitposters the thread was permabanned from /vg/.
You can talk about KSP in the /egg/ general now, but for a long time it was banned to dsicuss even in /egg/ because catfucker user would always show up and start posting cat dicks. he seems to have gone away though.
But with KSP2 on the way maybe /kspg/ can come back.
Starting your gravity turn at 80 m/s vertical and
Visual mods are a must
Hope we can get really good sound effects, especially for slamming into the atmosphere to perform aerobraking maneuvers.
>it's canonically called the Kerbolar system now
>fucking Kerbolar
the lord giveth, the lord taketh away.
I always felt like a fucking Moron playing KSP years and years ago when it was still beta. I could never even make it to the moon.
People would just be like
>lol just get into orbit and then reach the right periapsis and time your orbit to reach the moon and blah blah blah
Id be so confused and end up just building cool planes and flying around the planet and doing landings.
sounds like woosh
>start at the launch pad
>go opposite direction as the building
>once in orbit
>point at the moon once it comes over the horizon
>burn for intercept
That is the way I learned to do it the first time.
Can't figure out orbital mechanics? You'd make a fine addition to the KSP Marine Core, we need spaceplane jockeys like you with fingers on triggers ready to blow space commies out of our skies.
For anyone wanting to fly planes. This mod is a must: "AtmosphereAutopilot"
>tfw no space race scenario against krussia
But game has tutorial
I've always wanted to get into KSP. I play Dwarf Fortress and Factorio, so I can handle the autism, but what I don't want to do is equations or punch in numbers on websites for whatever. Maybe expert players going for hella optimizations have to, but can I I play this game sufficiently with only moderate resource reference?
yes
I want to fuck this Kermin.
Appreciate it.
If there's persistent multiplayer and space combat becomes possible, there's going to be a flood of vehicle and weapons development using nothing but stock parts. Can we get ahead of the curve here? I'm thinking unguided vacuum kinetic missiles powered by sepratrons, guided (probe core set to point at target) rocket powered and jet powered kill vehicles, large and simple unguided bombs to take out surface targets, cluster bombs to spray orbital shipyards with shrapnel, what can you come up with?
Unity itself isn't the problem, it's the spaghetti of Squadcode that has lent to the prevalence of the Kraken in everything you do in the game.
ELLO SCOTT MANLEH ERE NOW TODAY WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT ELON'S 12 INCH PENIS
>persistant multiplayer
Thats just asking for trolling of the highest order. Also how would you even handle the time dilation for long distance travels in multiplayer?
I literally never look up shit, you just get a feel for what designs will and won't work after you put in the hours and try your own experimental designs. Also, once you learn something you never forget it, it took weeks for me to land on Mun but after the first one I was able to do it three more times that day. Took way longer to do a manned mission to another planet, failed design and failed mission architecture over and over, then it clicked and I pulled it off then I did four more interplanetary manned missions to different places and it only required three tries at most (Kept underestimating the delta V to get to and back from Moho).
Are they going to have ship interiors, and let you go 1st/3rd person view as you control a kermin? That would be one the biggest things Id want.
Personally, for space fights i'd use guided misiles. Debris/cluster bombs have the issue of disappearing or spreading too far and being ineffective. On the other hand, carpet bombing the colonies with fuel tanks might be effective. Very effective.
>Thats just asking for trolling of the highest order.
This is a theoretical scenario, so no need to think into the extremes.
>Also how would you even handle the time dilation for long distance travels in multiplayer?
Ask the devs, they are the ones going for MP.
don't we all
>80 cm height
imagine
>time dilation
you mean time acceleration? I dunno, maybe shit is done with something like Kerbal alarm clock, but where time accelerates to the next alarm automatically so long as there are no conflicts with other things being done in universe at the same time. Still trollable for example if a guy decided to afk a rover crawling across an entire planet for 16 hours, but that's a job for a server admin to kick people. I'm sure there's a way to do it anyway.
>he's still thinking in Ksp 1 tech
that's how you get blindsided by 40 stack separator rings moving at 25 km/s relative velocity that were dropped off by an Orion cruiser doing a speed blitz ahead of the main armada
sorry sarge, its my first day and in booth camp they only taught us the basics.
because they know the best way to get more sales is to just do a copy-paste HD remaster of their old game with a few minor UI and gfx changes and retards will buy the "new" game.
it'll be just like how every Battlefield game since BF3 has just been the same game but with things renamed and the color of the instagram filter slightly changed.
What will you be doing in multiplayer sessions anons?
>space stations
>military spaceships
>colonies
Think of the possibilities.
war
war
war
war
war
war
For me, it's space war
>What will you be doing in multiplayer sessions anons?
>Anonymous 08/20/19(Tue)00:29:50 No.474779584
My answer of course is
WAR
ok now THIS
is based.
>Kerbal Space Combat
Even if there will not be WAR I will make WAR. Even without mods you have a lot tools for this.
Just launch solid thing really really fast at big thing
dude should have sold CoaDE and joined a studio or hired a bunch of people.i appreciate the autism of solo development but i think a small team might be optimal for such things.
how dead is it ? 'in the same universe' does that mean like more futuristic CoaDE or a civilian version of CoaDE where you mine asteroids and build bases and shit ?.
i wish CoaDE had proper mod support so the autistic 'the only missile guidance is flying at the biggest heatsource' shit could be modded out.
>all that 'science' talk about shit they know nothing about which wont have a bearing on anything in this game.
atleast it's a new studio which has no history of shit games and apparently many KSP fans. all the good mods might be incorporated on release. im already seeing shit like fusion rockets and nuclear reactors in the trailer.
hey, look on the bright side. At least they are asking astronomist what are the limits they can work with the planet creation. The binary planets by themselves look cool as fuck and makes me wonder how the fuck the orbits will work there.
hopefully they're ditching the KSP1 patched conics shit in favor of CoaDE style numeric integration. we'll finally have shit like proper lagrange points.
also wtf is pic related, a laser fusion engine ?
apparently is project Daedalus.
No one know anything on Yea Forums too. But we still discuss shit like art, science, biology, philosophy. Nothing wrong with that.
>electron beam initiated fusion
pretty cool
I'm cumming internally just thinking at the kinda of mega scale spacecraft we might be able to create now, more stable and free of lag and kraken hopefully.
we dont make game trailers that imply that somehow all these considerations will make it into a game. those guys basically did effectively technobabble to make normies think theyre smart and shit.
given that we are going to be able to travel to other solar systems, i'm pretty sure the vehicles we'll make are going to be HUGE.
since they use atomic rockets site as reference
But what is it good for?
real talk is KSP2 going to become starsector 3D lite
they already made the assets, it seems like all the vehicles were made in the VAB and balancing the stats its just a matter of changing a number. I highly doubt that any the stuff they placed on the stuff they showed on the trailer won't be available.
i highly doubt that will happen unless someone decides to make an incredibly heavy and complex mod.
I'm so excited
this + i want CoaDE level module customization on all parts and KSP Interstellar features like energy beaming.
also shit like beam propulsion and more autism features (like needing dish antennas to actually point at your target to transmit and much more scripting support for satellite control).
im a satellite\spacecraft operator and i wanna be like those autistic germans that come home from work and do a simulator of their work.
do they ? all those propulsion types are well known but yea i do hope they just copy all the stuff from there.
In current KSM we can make
>default rockets ala poor man nuclear rockets
>swarm of small rockets
>debris rocket
Or maybe even guiding one? Probably should install game and try to make fancy space weapons
could be cool , so far CoaDE is the best (and pretty much only) space combat game out there but ksp multiplayer with mods could give us something better.
i wanna recreate some battles from the expanse like the laconia battle.
its a fucking new studio with no previous games, with all those promises of multiplayer and other shit,
a cgi trailer which was good, but has nothing to do with actual game
stop getting hyped, high chance of it being a shitty sequel and you will all go back to play ksp1
delete this
You should try Orbiter 2010 for true space work simulator experience
you cant really do that shit now, i think you can only have the spacecraft you control doing a burn. if they allow autonomous spacecraft flying on a script (like CoaDE missiles) this could work
deorbit this
Not him but I hope this will turn out good: store.steampowered.com
Intercept missile tech.
Launch my rocket to burn hard and fast and catch up and intercept a launching rocket; delivering a payload of fragmentation (just stack separators).
No one is leaving the atmosphere under my watch.
MechJeb? Should have autopilot functions
I just want to mine rocks.
Join the Space Force.
So, do they have a booth at gamescom?
Haven't found any of the involved parties in the catalogue.
not really. in space work you're mostly looking at numbers on a screen, have light delay and non continuous telemetry\telecommand
to fully satisfy my autism i'd want a game with realistic sensors like
sinclairinterplanetary.com
that dont work if you point em at the sun. in ksp your position and velocity (and from them all other orbital paramaters) are known to you all the time with 100% certainty unlike in real life. IRL it takes time and ranging from many antennas to accurately determine spacecraft position and it gets worse as you get further away from earth. i'd want stuff like that incorporated in a game with the ability to build more and bigger antennas on the surface of\orbit of planets\moons so your spacecraft can navigate better and maybe at the endgame you'd build a solar-system wide GPS-like system or something.
you cant do shit like CoaDE homing on target (including leading it on as your target does burns) in ksp and you can only control one spacecraft.
im talking multiple missiles each running a homing script that you dont have to directly control.
>its a fucking new studio with no previous games
they changed names. This is the studio that made planetary annihilation.
Manpats, we're going home.
Couldn't even make it to orbit around Kerbin, huh? Pathetic.
>reinstall ksp
>load my career save
>every satelite constelation around every planet is misaligned so it doesnt have 100% ground cover anymore
i fucking love and hate this game at the same time
I hate it more than I love it. I just hope 2 fixes all the benign wonkiness.
>orion engine and spin rings
based, i can recreate the aurora from pic related get a realistic solar systems mod and travel to tau ceti.
>the benign wonkiness
I honestly think that wonkiness is part of KSP's charm.
It's more fun than serious.
It's more like Mario Kart than like LFS/rFactor/GT/...
>Play the original KSP
>Best achievement was making a 1-way rocket to Duna and a 2 way rocket to Minmus
>Never managed to make a space station
>Couldn't dock
>Was shit at setting up rescue missions
>spent hours trying to rescue a kerbal from orbit but ended up smashing him into the rescue ship instead
I how much has the original game improved since hitting 1.0? I stopped playing around the time that career mode was added.
forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com
It's not an Epic exclusive, not even a timed one, it's launching simultaniously on Steam. Drop the "seething steamie" act.
>Improved Onboarding Kerbal Space Program 2 will create a whole new generation of space flight experts who will find themselves accidentally learning rocket science. New animated tutorials, improved UI, and fully revamped assembly and flight instructions allow both experienced and novice players to quickly put their creativity to the test without sacrificing any of the challenge from the original game.
>Next Generation Technology In Kerbal Space Program 2, the astoundingly inventive creations that KSP is known for will be taken to a whole new level. Players will be delighted and challenged by next-generation engines, parts, fuel, and much more. This new tech will not just create novel puzzles for players to solve, but will also enable new feats of space exploration within and beyond the original Kerbolar System.
>Colonies Brand new to Kerbal Space Program 2 are colonies.. These colonies not only pose their own physics challenges, but also require resource gathering to build structures, space stations, habitations, and unique fuel types. Eventually, these colonies become advanced enough for vehicle construction, propelling deep space and beyond.
>Interstellar Travel Next-gen tech, colonies, and systematic resource gathering all lead to a whole new level of exploration: interstellar travel. In Kerbal Space Program 2, these interstellar technologies pave the way to a host of new celestial bodies, each comprising new challenges and harboring new secret treasures. Among them: Ovin, a ringed super-Earth with relentless gravity; Rask and Rusk, a binary pair locked in a dance of death; and many more to reward exploration.
>Multiplayer/Modding The technological developments made to the foundations of Kerbal Space Program 2 will build on the beloved modding capabilities of the original game, as well as deliver on the long-requested addition of multiplayer. Soon players will be able to share the challenges of deep space exploration. More details on these features will be revealed at a later time.

Maybe... but benign wonkiness as a result of trivial actions gets tired after a while. Simply switching causing the universe to go dark and my vessel locked to 2793m/s, causing it's orbit to grow perpetually, gets tired after three occurrences or so.
That fucking came out of nowhere.I want this game more than Cyberptrash, Bannerlord and VtMB2
>colony building
>interstellar travel
That was all I needed to hear to make me wet as fuck. I haven't been this excited for a game since Fallout 4, so I reeeeally hope it doesn't go down the same path. Everything seems to be going smoothly so far, but it's also not even been a full day. If this ends up a fucking disappointment...
Not developed by SQUAD but a bunch of canadians. While they will be definitely faster to release stuff, I'm worried.
>KSP2
>Jebediah is the president of the Space Company
This is a joke, right
Please tell me you're joking
Anybody here landed on Eve?
And also came back, of course.
What other games has Star Theory made? Their website is some stupid formsite garbage with a pitbull and no information.
There's nothing at all about these people anywhere.
>Q: How do we know if Star Theory Games has the capability of developing a worthy successor to our favorite game?
>A: The team behind Star Theory Games are skilled video game developers as well as lifelong fans of Kerbal Space Program, with multiple members of having played 2000+ hours of the original KSP. The principal engineer even has a background in the aerospace industry. Their skill set in combination with a deep understanding of what makes this game great has led to the creation of an amazing sequel we know you’ll love to challenge yourself with! If you’d like to learn more about the amazing team behind Kerbal Space Program 2 be sure to watch the Developer Story video.
>Q: What has Star Theory Games successfully released in the past?
>A: This is the first title for Star Theory Games, of whom a few developers remain from its predecessor company, Uber Entertainment. Uber is known for Monday Night Combat, Planetary Annihilation, and VR titles. The Star Theory team is comprised of skilled Unity game developers who are lifelong fans of KSP and are credited on AAA games from companies like Microsoft, PopCap, and Gas Powered Games. Furthest I've gone is to Mars and back but then the gay expansion pack "Breaking Grounds" came out so I didn't bother because it introduced new mechanics.
CUTE!

They have that in KSP1, so probably yes.
They are literally a new studio put together just to make Kerbal 2. We dont know anything about them.
i think he meant you being able to move around inside and operate instruments. right now they just have shit IVA cockspits where you can press a handful of buttons.
there's IVA mods that give you more stuff to play around with but you still cant move around inside.
would be cool if they added interiors and airlocks so you can play 100% first person
There was a mod that allowed you to move around interiors but development on it stopped years ago.
Are they going to have ship interiors, and let you go 1st/3rd person view as you control a kermin?
>This is the first title for Star Theory Games, of whom a few developers remain from its predecessor company, Uber Entertainment. Uber is known for Monday Night Combat, Planetary Annihilation, and VR titles
>VR titles
What about Kerbal Space Program in VR?
would be cool with a highly detailed IVA cockpit but i think they're pretty far along in development and if they wanted something like this they'd show it in the trailer.
there's this shot that shows reflection of instruments but im pretty sure this is pure 3D renders where's some of the exterior shots look like gameplay.
youtube.com
>trailer is based on an old fan trailer
>devs claim to have 2000+h game time on the game
looks good so far.
KSP is literally the only positive contribution Mexicans have made to western civilization.
Prove me wrong.
I like Mexican hot sauce.
Tacos taste like fucking shit then again I'm not an american mutt like you fags.
I'm not a burger.
>ground meat, tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese somehow turn to shit if they're contained in a crunchy shell instead of a bun
Might as well say "sandwiches taste like shit." Tacos are a form factor, not a recipe.
I would ALMOST buy a VR headset if it meant we got IVA as detailed as youtu.be
That and forced memes that came from capeshit movies
WHAT DID IT COST? EVERYTHING??????
LOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's a butt blasted Euro, how well educated can you expect him to be?
>Might as well say "sandwiches taste like shit.
Not gonna lie but I unironically agree with this this.
>lunar base
>in orbit ship building
>multiplayer
Ksp ship battles?
mars cities
space civ this looks sick as fuck
Alot more educated than you.
you can already pretty much do that with KSP mods
youtube.com
+ a decent IVA like the ones from B9 mod
it's really not that impressive, if star theory actually focused on VR and IVA they could make something like youtube.com
my guess is we wont see it on release unless VR popularity really rises or something. maybe a later update\expansion. we'll definitely see it in mods so even if they make decent IVA cockpits you'd be able to use em in VR.
After this comes out, will there be any reason to play KSP 1?
If they make it right, no.
Most planet pack creators will stay, since they're untalented hacks who think configuring is coding.
And yet still thinks tacos are fundamentally different. Somehow I doubt that. But keep believing that, you gotta cope with America winning the war hundreds of years ago somehow. I don't blame you.
Scott Manley has a video now.
youtu.be
Holy fuck, how am I just hearing about this? KSP is my all time favorite game. I'm so fucking excited.
It was announced hours ago.
>over 40000 seconds have gone by and I haven't known that ENTIRE TIME
It hurts to be so slow
Well, it was bound to happen.
Nuclear explosion in space is literally just an absurdly bright and hot flash of light. It doesn't make a fireball.
It technically does, but the fireball dissipates too quickly to be relevant.
You mean the fireball from the explosives that start the reaction?
>thinks
There is no "slow as fuck" in space combat.
Chances are capital ships have fusion/orion/ion engines that give them way more deltaV than a small ships chemical rockets.
Since there are different star systems in KSP2, you probably want to build star carriers just to get your fighters into their respective target orbit.
Yeah you can, one of the SAS options is point-at-target, you could use a high thrust high delta v rocket to achieve low relative velocity to your target, then launch a volley of self guided missiles.
Absolutely not.
That book was kinda shite, like the author literally had to come up with a boogeyman disease to make the eponymous moon uninhabitable. He also had to have them start off doing the most retarded thing possible which was to immediately try to colonize the bottom of a deep gravity well, instead of doing the smart thing which is to take advantage of their position in orbit to mine asteroids and build new habitat bottles to add to their ship at a fast pace. In fact he needed to design a mission architecture that was as dumb as possible in order for it to not work out in the end, such as clustering a large number of habitats together and using a single big propulsion system rather than sending each habitat on its own with its own propulsion system as part of a swarm, not bringing along large amounts of frozen genetic material to keep your biodiversity high, relying on self-contained ecosystems rather than providing food using high density farming, and so on. The good parts in that book were the world building and the time lapse parts describing their progress, and every sequence from Ship's perspective (that girl the book follows I couldn't give a shit about honestly).
they used to frequent the generals on /vg/ - at least during when Squad was still a thing. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they're reading this thread aloud in a conference room
Boy I hope snekposter will be there
Git gud, Docking isn't hard you probably just weren't designing vehicles with balanced RCS thrust vectors. Docking is just another thing you need to design for, like making a plane aerodynamic. Most people try to learn docking my slapping some RCS thrusters on an upper stage but they don't add enough and/or they put them in the wrong places and end up with strong torque effects when they try to translate to align ports. Once you learn the steps though docking becomes hardly a challenge even if you've got nothing but a main engine to work with, simply rendezvous, match velocity, get aligned to the docking port on the target, apply a tiny burp to begin close approach, keep ports close enough to allow the magnetism to take over and pull them together.
Anyway, the game performs better in terms of fps etc nowadays and there are a few newer parts plus some small yet significant UI changes that make some aspects of the game more intuitive to people.
funny how the UI has hardly changed at all after all these years.
>and unique fuel types
mining helium 3 from Jool's upper atmosphere confirmed
We made it to the bump limit.
Shit I've landed on E-
>and also came back, of course.
;~;
>launch big ass ion drive star carrier
>go on intercept course with enemy base at 100 km/s
>launch 100 probe cores with ant rockets as well as small fuek tanks and adjust trajectory to hit enemy bases
>burn hard perpendicular to relative trajectory to pass enemy planet with star carrier
Now your base is no more.
>next star carrier already on its way to intercept enemy base
>carrier slows down in front of what is left of the base
>carrier launces small attack crafts/landers to capture planet
Now the planet is under my controll
>3rd star carrier arrives
>has packed all the gear to build a base myself
Now I've got a base in your backyard to repair&refuel my star carriers and start the orbital bombardement of your homeworld.
>be mexican
>make something for $5
>Americans buy it for $5,000 and let you keep collecting $50+ royalties on it
this is every beaner's dream
the 'fireball' that is the extremely hot plasma made from the leftover uranium/plutonium plus all the daughter products of the reaction and of course the structural materials of the bomb
I want a more extensive discovery phase. We should have to launch telescopes to discover Eeloo and Dres and smaller moons.
Also. i hope the gas giants have more than just 4 moons. I want a proper 20+ moon gas giant.
you can always hop the border
>ion drive star carrier
nigga we're gonna have access to direct fusion propulsion a la Daedalus, ion drives will be caveman technology with a much lower acceleration and a much lower top speed as well.
where's your degree in astrophysics
bitches
I was talking with KSP1 tech, no idea what other changes they will make.
Also VASMIR packs like 5000 S of specific impulse IRL.
You can also launch projectiles using an engine attached to your main craft. Engines also push things away from them.
most of them would need to be irregular moons (asteroid-like) to be realistic, or you could go the Saturn route and have a system of a handful of very small spherical moons (only Titan is comparable to our own Moon in size, the second biggest (Rhea) is a mere ~760 km in radius), roughly Minmus sized, and a bigger moon or two maximum. As it stands in stock Jool's big three moons are ridiculously huge, even Vall has 1.6 times the gravity of Ganymede, biggest moon in our solar system. Laythe would be equivalent to a planet twice as big as Mars, and of course Tylo would be about as big as Earth.
It's VASIMR, and it's not really an ion drive, it's a plasma thruster, but regardless the Daedalus engines are designed with >500,000 Isp in mind, and since they use actual fuel rather than jst propellant you don't need to worry about supplying the multiple gigawatts necessary to run the engine, since the thrust energy comes from the fusion reactions and the small fraction of energy absorbed by the nozzle as heat is used to drive the generators that provide the power that runs the engine. VASIMR on the other hand requires you to generate that power separately somehow, which is actually the reason why it has never been flown yet, we don't have any means of powering a VASIMR thruster without breaking the bank
The insane advantage of ion propulsion is that it is probably rather low on the tech tree, meaning you can raid before anyone expects a raid.
On the other hand, I'll probably go with the highest specific impulse engine I can find and refuel as soon as I unlocked it in addition to some chemical rockets for bursts of high thrust.
