Assassin's Creed

Redbull me on this series. Which games should I play? Is the story finished?

Attached: 71SoUMOa3YL.jpg (1000x1000, 243K)

All Ubisoft games are homogenized.

Just play Far Cry 5

I don't like first person games

Start at the first one
Go through them all in release order until you are no longer having fun

Why do they still wear that stupid white hood? Didn't Altair wear it to blend in with monks? What's the reasoning for it in later games?

Read the story synopsis for 1. Play thru remastered versions of Ezio trilogy (2 - Brotherhood - Revelations). Don't worry about other games' stories. Play Black Flag if you still want more.

Play the first game, if you don't care about the modern day story (you won't), just play the one with the historical setting that interests you the most

What's wrong with III?

Don't play the black and Indian guy games.

Don't play the first game, the combat has aged as badly as bad milk, the world is dreary and boring and what little story it does have is uninteresting at this point, play the ezio trilogy and black flag.

It will never "finish" because their plan is to shit them out endlessly.
The overarching story essentially ends at 3 and it was rushed as hell to be relevant with OMG 2012 PROPHECY.

I would say play 1 through Revelations.
3 is ass but play it if you feel invested enough at that point. The prologue to the game with Haytham is actually pretty great, Connor is what drags it down.
4 is great if you want to sail around doing pirate combat, boarding other ships and taking them over.

Which ones are those?

>Assassin Good
>Templar bad
kys

I heard one of them have you play as a Templar. Was it Rogue? How is that one? I really dislike Assassins and I think they half assed the way Templar are depicted.

At this point, just go with whatever historical setting interests you the most. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is generally considered to be the best game in the main series, but it's one of those games which is better than the sum of its parts.

From my understanding the real ones wore white as well, but maybe I got memed into believing that by people talking about the first game.
they only continue to wear white because they associate themselves with that order, and it is brand identity.
White is fine, the real MO for assassins was for killing to be very public and noticed. Most people would be wearing cheap fabric that isnt dyed at all.
You can just recolor it in every game anyways.

First guy is an Arab and Ezio is a part Arab mongrel, so don't play the only games in the series that are good

How is AC2 low tier >:[
that game is comfy

Attached: ACtiers.jpg (750x1412, 555K)

Odyssey is unironically the best parts of Witcher 3 mixed with Morrowind's exploration.

Even codexfags acknowledge AC:Odyssey as one of the great RPGs of all time. The fuck is your problem?

I just realized they gave Lightning Ezio colors
Some folks at SE must have really loved Assassin's Creed

Skip 1, but read the synopsis on the wiki.
Play 2 and Brotherhood. 2 is arguably the best in the series. Revelations is optional.
Play 3. It's alright.
4 is probably the best pirate game you'll ever play in your life, but you don't play as a stealthy assassin like the rest of the series so be aware of that.
Unity has been patched, and with the occasional bug here or there you can still play through it just fine. I thought it was great, and Paris looks amazing.
Syndicate was the most refined AC game when it came out. I only encountered 1-2 bugs during my playthrough, and everything else felt silky smooth. Boring as fuck story, though.

I haven't played the rest, so I don't know.

>ACIV
>God tier
neck. Shit taste

are you even playing as an Assassin in that? I just see a greek warrior hunting animals in the wild.

The only thing I agree with on this list is putting AC: Unity in Top Tier. Everything else is shit.

no, Assassin's Creed is essentially a vehicle for a mixture of sci-fi/historical fiction at this point using the Animus to time travel to different civilizations.

Ragnarok coming out next year might be more assassin-y though

>Is the story finished?
In a way, the ancestors's story is finished. All eyes on the modern day segment now, though I don't know how one Egyptian girl intends to take down both Assassins and Templars

Didn't play rogue, no clue.
3 you are doing stuff with haytham and assume you are an assassin, but at end of his sequence you get sworn into the templars. This game is awful aside from that, so I don't mind spoiling it.

The rest of the game is with his bastard Indian son Connor, killing all the guys from the prologue. The environment isnt fun to explore. Most of the game is really rushed. Connor has 0 charisma, spends entire game yelling WHERES CHARLES LEE. He stops templars from buying his peoples land because an old black guy told him they were bad.... then when he finally kills Lee, Lee tells him that they were going to make the land a reservation so they wouldnt be exploited by white man's laws of ownership. George Washington is a huge dick the whole time from what I remember.

It removed all the things that made ass creed fun like exploring big cities with tall towers.
They also completely killed all the hype by rushing the end of the Desmond arc. A lot of people were anticipating when we would get a game in a modern city playing as Desmond. After all, 2 was supposed to all have been so he can learn to be an assassin. Here we get like 3 or 4 super linear missions in modern day with no big open city, each one is like 5 or 10 minutes and boring shit. Desmond dies at the end.

4 gets a pass because the naval combat makes it worth playing.

AC1 is shit but worth playing to appreciate development of the series.
AC2 and Brotherhood are great.
Revelations is shit.
AC3 is fucking awful. Setting is crap with worst protagonist and overall story also dies at this point.
Black Flag is good but overrated.
Unity is shit but better than AC3.
Syndicate was good, more light hearted than the rest.
Origins is great but gets repetitive.
Don't know about the rest.

Rogue is kino

It's an utterly awful game. Level scaled loot, level restricted enemies, insubstantial fedex quests everywhere, destroyed the cool mercenaries system from Origin in favor of a random generated crap, shitty combat system, a metric ton of SJW propaganda, removed platforming sections, adds a ton of padding and grind. I honestly can't say anything good about it.

I don't know about you but I think AC1 is worth playing for the unique setting alone. The gameplay isn't "aged" they just added a lot more stuff later.

>metric ton of SJW propaganda
That's kind of a given with this series as a whole and you'll just have to ignore it as it comes up. What other series literally has Karl Marx in it depicted heroically?

>Level scaled loot, level restricted enemies, insubstantial fedex quests everywhere,
Ubi really loves Todd and Oblivion

Only the newer entries. Up to Black Flag it was fine.

I heard Ubisoft are a bunch of French cucks, is that true?

I heard you're so fat and ugly nobody would wanna fuck you, is that true?

French-Canadian cucks, with some Americucks on the side

SJW bullshit and Cultural Marxism are unavoidable in 99% of Western produced media today. Its something you have to just ignore if you want to enjoy pretty much anything these days.

Brotherhood is best of them all

>I really dislike Assassins and I think they half assed the way Templar are depicted.
Rogue makes the Templars act like saints and the Assassins act like bumbling retards instead of a gray area so figure out how you take that because the entire game in general feels like they're trying to pretend the Templars don't want total control over the people. Colonel Monroe even acts like a doting father to Shay and has a soft voice just to push that message further while guys like Achilles and Chevalier shout at Shay and talk down to him constantly.

Shay's just trying to do what he can to help the Colonies in general and doesn't believe either side is correct but sides with the Templars because they're not being retarded like the Assassins are in Rogue. He betrayal is very forced and nobody acts like an actual human during the entirety of it nor does anyone talk to each other. However, the missions are pretty good, Shay's got the best outfit in the series in my opinion, the new stuff like the air rifle and grenades are hilariously broken, the Morrigan isn't as powerful as the Jackdaw but it's okay, there's a lot more shanties but you barely hear them sung because everything interrupts them (Guarantee you that you don't hear more than 40 seconds of a shanty before it stops for a variety of reasons), and it does a great job at leading directly into Unity.

TL;DR - If you liked Black Flag it's improved ship combat to a degree, the story focuses on Templars but they aren't written like how they usually act outside of Haytham, and the Assassins are really dumb in it.

The same reason jedi wear uncle owen’s clothes

also known as the "stop midway through brotherhood" approach

did this autist really just spoil 3? lmao

Based unitybro

Don't really like these games and yet I seem to play one every single year.
Good filler games for when I'm not sure what to play next, and they're normally cheap as fuck after a year

this.

Odyssey is unlike the other games. It's like a whole different genre

Forget about the overarching story, IT'S SHIT (this is coming from a huge AC fan that enjoyed every game).

>Must play:
1, 2, Brotherhood, 4, Origins

>Optional:
Revelations, Rogue, Odyssey

>Completionist:
3, Unity, Syndicate, Liberation

Yes because no one should ever play it, also it is seven years old so who cares?

Unity is really comfy and underrated

Attached: ACU_2019_08_11_19_00_11_232.jpg (1920x1080, 1.45M)

The autism is strong in this one.

What did Napoopan see in these people

If you disregard the retarded modern day bullshit (seriously, this is a shitty plot element), none of the games are connected except for the Ezio games.

and I still need to beat Odyssey. Last big plot thing I remember is the Athens plague and that little girl that got killed

2 is kind of dope but it has strange feel to it. If 1 was a tech demo, then 2 feels like a game long tutorial. Brotherhood is sort of where it properly starts.

Their fashion sense

Attached: ACU_2019_07_16_15_47_07_758.jpg (1920x1080, 1.17M)

this summons the sperglord

complaining about a shitty plot element summons a sperg?

Best outfit in the series hands down. If you could take off the dumb hood like in Syndicate/Origins it would be perfect.

>none of the games are connected except for the Ezio games
Bloodlines is a direct continuation of 1 and explains how Altair met Maria. This is stuff that takes place directly after the third or fourth memory disk in Revelations is used.
Liberation has a mission where Aveline meets Connor from around the end of 3 before Achilles died. He literally shows up and fights with her side-by-side.
Freedom Cry is continued in Rogue with people referencing Adewale's trip, them constantly referencing the Maroons, and he has his ship from it which you fight against.
Rogue takes place after Haytham's introduction in 3 and while Connor is still growing up.
Rogue has Achilles in his prime and deals with how he screwed up so badly that the entirety of the Colonial Brotherhood got killed.
Rogue also literally ends where Unity begins.

3, Liberation, 4, Rogue, and Unity are all linked together.

>3, Liberation, 4, Rogue, and Unity are all linked together.
And none of the characters got a proper ending.

Its not a good RPG or a good assasins creed game.

>Story

Oh man, don't even worry about that. If you do you're gonna have a bad time.

It's a damn shame too. We know from the books Edward died to a random mook sent by the guy who runs the British Rite that was Edward's friend who recruited Haytham immediately after. We also know from the books Connor dies divorced from his wife. Haytham obviously died to Connor, Adewale's dead thanks to Shay, and that's it as far as I can recall. Do we even know how Arno or Aveline die? Because as far as I can tell they forgot about both of them.

Aveline wasted her cleavage by staying single for a long long time, but clearly she shagged someone because Abstergo managed to get her descendant DNA. It seems like only Altair and Ezio are destined to have proper endings.

A game with Connor/Arno/Shay to close the saga would've been absolutely kino. Missed opportunity there.

>best tier
AC2, AC4, AC Origins

>Good tier
AC Revelations, AC Unity, AC Rogue

>Meh tier
AC3, AC Brotherhood, AC1

>Bad tier
AC Syndicate, AC Odyssey

Attached: IMG_793a16fb-df1b-4277-bdb9-74431b2015b4.png (1920x1080, 2.43M)

Aveline's Lady Persona is best girl. It's a shame she turned down Gerald considering she clearly had some feelings for him and he manned up around halfway into the game.

You mean Connor/Aveline/Arno going up against 70 year old Shay, right? Connor would be like 50 or 60 if the team up happened and Aveline would not be far behind Connor in age. Arno would be something like late 40's? Arno would have to get the final kill of course once he found out the truth.

Attached: Assassin's Creed III Remastered 2019-08-10 09-24-25.jpg (1920x1080, 1.32M)

It's a shame she lusted after Connor, who is too autistic to do anything.

I'm pretty sure Aveline way older than Connor, between him and Shay. Shay being 70 isn't an issue since we have magic artifact shit going on and Ezio fought the pope at around the same age. Connor as an old Master Assassin should give him some character.

>I'm pretty sure Aveline way older than Connor
You're right, I had it flip-flopped.
>Connor - 1757
>Aveline - 1746
>Shay - 1731
>Arno - 1768
Arno does the Dead Kings stuff which ends in 1808 which means Connor would be 51, Aveline would be 62, Shay would be 77, and Arno would be 40 on the dot.

>try to play ezio games for nostalgia and I miss the stories
>game controls are a mess
do I have to buy the hd remasters or what now I don't want to play with a gamepad

also I can't believe so many people trash AC1. It had decent story and probably the best combat in the series honestly (though my ideal would be a mix of 2's and 1's).

Attached: 20190630115005_1.jpg (1920x1080, 611K)

>buy the hd remasters
Not a good idea, gameplay looks fine but cutscenes are awful.

The parkour is so bad in every game that isn't 1, Unity and Syndicate, it's unreal

Syndicate doesn't have parkour it has press X to instantly scale any building

The Ezio Collection is worse than just playing the PC/360/PS3 version, trust me on this one. I just played it a couple weeks back the whole way through and 2 looks like ass compared to the OG, even the 360 OG version. Brotherhood and Revelations are fine on the collection compared to 2, but holy shit 2 is a mess. The patches barely did anything to fix it, the further into 2 you go the worse it looks. Just look at this mess.
The same applies to 3 Remastered, 3 Remastered shouldn't exist with all its faults and yet it's the only version you can get now. It looks so bad in every single cutscene, the new subtitles are disgustingly large and broken (Not to mention mistimed), and it even introduced new glitches while not fixing a single one that still existed, the addition of whistling around corners and in bushes does not excuse all its faults.
Rogue Remastered is fine though, it looks great.

Attached: Assassin's Creed® The Ezio Collection 2019-07-21 13-43-06.jpg (1920x1080, 374K)

Here's an example of 3 Remastered. Isn't the new lighting system just great? You can really tell they spent a lot of time on it.
Seriously though, it looks fantastic when wandering around the world minus lanterns/candles but it looks horrendous on people.

Attached: Assassin's Creed III Remastered 2019-08-08 00-41-45.jpg (1920x1080, 538K)

shame about that customization that encourages you to mix and mash outfits that clash

So I actually am curious. I stopped playing after 3. Did anything happen with the central plot with the modern day assassins?

Not really, no seriously, it's like they tried new things for the modern day story only to drop it in the very next game.

It's been a while since I've played 1, why would you say it has superior parkour?

new assassins' suit designs used to be a thing I looked forward to every new installment now we don't even have them. AC definitely completely lost it's identity.

no modern day story literally died with 3. desmond was supposed to be an absolute killing machine after all his experience with his ancestors in the animus, that was the over arching plot between games but you know how that went. we have some lesbian ugly ass no-personality girl for the modern day now, worse than ever.

>Liberation
Erudito (Those random hackers separate from the Assassins and Templars) want to reveal the truth of Aveline's life to random people who bought Liberation. This basically works in the Assassin's favor but Erudito isn't part of their Order.
>4
Shaun and Rebecca went undercover at Abstergo Entertainment and grabbed information from Noob (You) while he was being blackmailed by Roberts (A sage, basically Juno's husband reincarnated into a person every couple decades). Roberts tried making (You) into a host for Juno's formless body after 3 but she decided farting around in The Cloud™ was a better idea.
Abstergo was also partnering with Blume (The guys from Watch_Dogs) to bring ctOS worldwide. The leader of Abstergo Entertainment was killed thanks to Aiden in Watch_Dogs.
>Rogue
Otso Berg (The guy who was killing all those various groups you hear about in Brotherhood) is trying to get information about Shay's life to basically have it as a way to induct people into the Templar Order. Numbskull (You), not to be confused with Noob (You) is inducted at the end of the game.
>Unity
Bishop, Rebecca, and Shaun are using people playing Unity to reveal Arno's true life, recruit people to the Assassin cause, and they're also trying to siphon information from Abstergo's servers via the household Animus units.
>Syndicate
As far as I know of this Otso Berg encounters William, Shaun, and Rebecca as they're trying to get the Shroud of Turin or something?
>Origins and Odyssey
Layla who was a person who worked on the Animus got to meet William and she's basically Desmond 2.0 but I don't know much besides that.

They basically have been mildly pattering along with the modern day, until recently it's been pretty aimless.

>come on guys i'm the resident AC expert you guys
>please take me seriously
>guys come on i know the most
>guys please stop ignoring me
>..... :'^(

AC1 is fun but can be janky at times. Once you hit Origins and Odyssey you're not going to be able to play the combat of earlier games and have as much fun with them.

I'll be honest that I didn't play Unity so I can't speak on it but I heard after it's rough as fuck launch it actually became a pretty solid game but you start out as a weak as shit nobody but claw your way to master assassin.

Syndicate is honestly the best one for the free running and sadly when they remade the earlier games they didn't implement Free Run Up and Free Run Down as buttons. Syndicate also really felt lived in and shitty in a good way considering it's late 1800s London.

Origins and Odyssey are both Witcher-Lite in their open world and the fact you actually have quest journals and stuff. They both play similarly but people like Odyssey because of the added boat stuff and cause they dream of Kassandra squishing their head with her buff thighs. People like Origins more because it felt more grounded and when it did supernatural it did it really well (the Egyptian afterlife DLC feels more fantastical than the Greek one).

A lot of people love AC4 because of the ship combat and the free roaming pirate life in the Caribbean. However it's actual Assassin's Creed stuff is pretty shit. AC Rogue is a better blend of ship combat and actual Assassin-ish stuff but some people don't like it since it's set in North America and is more wintery.

A lot of people like the Ezio Trilogy (AC2>Brotherhood>Revelations) and while they are fun the 100% completion run requires you to not play the game how you want to play but fulfill a bunch of side objectives. It's probably the best blend of combat and assassin stuff but you only really need to play Brotherhood.

If you can only play five of the series probably AC1, Brotherhood, AC4/Rogue, Syndicate and Origins.

dang. I kinda liked desmond.

See

Don't forget everyone is in the same blood line so you're a Greek/Persian, Egyptian, Arab, Native American/English mutt.

They never really recovered after him, they've generally been pretty aimless or had no idea where to take anything story-wise. They even resolved Juno in the comics rather than decide to do it in-game because they "didn't want to devote a major part of the game to her" despite doing exactly that in 4.

I couldn't get over how they slowly made him look like discount Adam Sandler.
