Consistency? the scourge are CONSISTANTLY an overwhelming force, the elves destroy a bridge and arthas just fills the river with corpses so the rest of his army can walk across, imagine instead of all being kept in quarentine by a strong willed paladin, they just went berserk and basically unleash a bunch of feral undead upon pretty much anywhere the undead had presence (not accounting forsaken)

Northrend/TFT wins the prize for the most forced lore expansion in the entire series.
The idiotic presumption that neither the horde nor the alliance for CENTURIES ignored the huge frozen wasteland across the ocean to the north is one thing.
To then twist the story into the archetypical "ANCIENT EVIL" trope is another. Like, you guys didnt care about the snowy continent for decades, but all of a sudden, everybody builds airships and carries and invades the frozen rock because anduin and thrall both sense the "ancient evil" awakening?

Scourge was in northrend since the end of wc2.
I dont see how the scourge is a big problem which requires a lich king.
Undead w/o mind control become forsaken and they arent that much of a threat. Even the nerubians would have destroyed them if the legion hadnt helped the scourge.
