Most post-apocolyptic works are set in our future. It's not too crazy to imagine that they would carry over some of our same ideals. They even seem to be wearing clothes like we do. They are immersed in books and other remaining media, written by us. It's not unreasonable to assume that it would take a very long time of struggling and dwindling numbers for cultural switches to occur so drastically that women are treated this way.

Worth nothing that American society in general does not treat or think about women the way that Yea Forums does, no matter how real it feels to people on this site.

The first two Gears of War games didn't allow fertile women to be soldiers. By the time of the third the Locusts' organization had been largely destroyed and humanity's numbers were so low they let women start to fight since they barely had anyone left to fight.

I think that in a mass survival situation, cultural thoughts on equality would dissolve pretty quickly simply based on practicality. Women would certainly have a sense of 'rights', but men would quickly establish themselves as leaders and crucial workers.
