What would you consider to be the best games for this particular handheld? Any hidden gems?

Kuru Kuru Kururin is a bit of a hidden gem because it never released in North America. There's also a japan-only sequel.
Astro boy is a bit of a hidden gem.
Strong reccomend any of the Castlevania games.
SRW OG1 and 2
SRW J had an english patch too

Now fuck off.
Treasure planet
the fellowship of the ring (be careful though it's really easy to get yourself into an unwinnable situation inside the mines of moria, I had to restart the game twice because of it, If you are emulating make good use of multiple save states)
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Mother 3
Wario Land 4
FFV
Metroid: Zero Mission
Megaman zero
Car Battler Joe
Robopon 2
Riviera the Promised Land
Yggra Union
Zoids Legacy
Sigma Star Saga
Summon Night Swordcraft Story 1&2
all are 7/10 or better, worth looking at and are pretty uncommon in recommendation threads.
Advance wars
Advance wars 2: BLACKED hole rising
Advance wars: duol strike
This motherfucker right here. This game is WAY more fun than it has any right to be, not even trolling.
>Riviera
My nigga
Dragonball Advanced Adventure
Pokemon Pinball R&S
Summon Night has some good fucking music and cool combat.
I haven't played it in years but I remember having a ton of fun with Super Dodgeball Advance, and I don't see it mentioned all that often when people talk about the GBA.
Might just be nostalgia but I'd say it's worth checking out.
Also at some point earlier this year some user suggested a Dragon Ball game that I had never heard of but it looked pretty fun. I think it was Advanced Adventure?
Literally never seen anyone else ever mention that game.
shit user I forgot about that game
aria of sorrow and need for speed porsche unleashed
Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting
Astroboy
Super Dodge Ball is great but it's pretty barebones
Breath of Fire 2 on the GBA is much better than the SNES version. Less grind and better UI (imo).
You fuck off, at least this thread isn't ecelebs and overreactions to /pol/ lefty sock puppet screencaps.
This pretty much sums it up. Damn the gba had a lot of games, and a ton of variety on top of that. Maybe lacking "Adventure" games à la Minish Cap, but great for rpgs and platformers.
That's what I was about to post. Absolute classic.
I'm just 1 dude with opinions but PERSONALLY my top 10 on the GBA, one of my favorite systems of all time is:
1. Fire Emblem
2. Advance Wars 2
3. Gunstar Super Heroes
4. Metroid Zero Mission
5. Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
6. Mega Man Battle Network (2, 3, or 6)
7. Mega Man Zero 3
8. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
9. Yu-gi-oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul
10. Yggdra Union
If you like side scrolling beat-em ups I'd suggest Advance Guardian Heroes. I ain't going to say it's a great game but I enjoyed the hell out of it as a kid and it's got some really interesting mechanics for such a simple game.
One of my hottest gaming takes is that I like AGH more than Guardian Heroes. I think agh is really impressive and engaging for the hardware but I was underwhelmed by the original
Oh, OP, the Shining Force remake is fantastic too. Fuck I love GBA I'm gonna keep popping off here for a minute
Superstar Saga is pretty good
*thung*
It's no Endless Duel, but Gundam Battle Assault is purrdy good.
Emulating games on a smartphone is fucking bad for anything not RPG or strategy.
Fuck I thought I was the only one.
Anyone else play the DungeonDice Monsters game?
Mutha fucka, I mention it on every gba thread, eat a dick.
All the GBA Castlevanias
Die
>neither has DB Advanced Adventure
I've honestly never played Guardian Heroes and had no idea what I was getting into with this game but the amount of shit it had blew my kiddy mind. Stuff like being able to sell your soul to the big bad to keep fighting after you died and the use of the parry system was great. Hell I even enjoyed the characters and the story even though I couldn't understand half of it. I'd say one of the gba's most hidden gems.
Wario Land 4
>monster rancher
>harvest moon friends of mineral town
>dogz
>hamtaro ham ham heart break
>pokemon emerald
are all my favourites and are super comfy to play i recommend these
The Golden Sun games
Sigma Star Saga and Summon Night: Swordcraft Story
Klonoa: Empire of Dreams
Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament
Mega Man Zero 1
Mega Man Zero 2
Mega Man Zero 3
Mega Man Zero 4
Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodia
Wario Land 4
Yoshi's Island
I hear that Mother 3 is excellent, if you can get the translation patch.
its sounds like that one song from welcome to the nhk that was blasted constantly
MOTHERFUCKING DRILL DOZER
YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE
>sell your soul to the big bad to keep fighting after you died
Wait what? I never died in the game so I have no clue what you are talking about.
If you got killed the evil bad guy you fight at the end pops up to offer to bring you back to life if you sell your soul. If you agree you get this evil recolour of your character and no health bar. You take no damage, can't level up anymore, and you only have a set amount of time alive until you die anyway. I think it was something like 5 min
That's not even the wildest part if you somehow make it all the way to the final stage of the boss he'll basically tell you that you've already sold your soul to him so all your fighting has been pointless and you get a game over Each character has an evil recolour that is only accessible by selling your soul as well. It was a stupid amount of work for a death gimmik that apparently some people never even saw and I fucking lived it.
These lists are definitely not comprehensive. They're missing some classics.
My nigga.
I really enjoyed Bomberman Tournament. Its spiritual successor game, Bomberman Jetters: The Lengendary Bomberman is pretty fun too, but that's Japan only. Also for more Japan only games, I recommend the 3 Stafy/Starfy games. Those are easier to play than the Legendary Bomberman because they're platformers. The only thing you'll miss is the story, but it's all about the gameplay. Very fun platformer games.
I played Drill Dozer for the first time about a month ago and was pretty impressed. A real no-bullshit kinda game.
I didn't like the game but this is a pretty neat mechanic
It's one of the first games I really started to appreciate the little things that weren't necessary but just make things better. Like the move list for every character where all the moves have their own name. Or how if you pick to play as the enemy character that attacks the heroes at the start of the game then one of the enemies will end up getting possessed instead of the actual hero. And if you use a different colour then the character you possess will have that colour before as an enemy. There's even special dialogue if you play as an enemy.
>Any hidden gems?
that Neutopia-like Bomberman
Make sure you get the best hardware.
All four Mega Man Zero games are must plays.
Nah the best version of the GBA is the original shell with a backlit screen. Yeah it means you need to make it yourself but it's worth it
metroid fusion
metroid zero mission
mother 3
both wario ware games
mega man zero 1 through 4
pokemon emerald
pokemon fire red or leaf green
gunstar super heroes
kirby nightmare in dream land
all the castlevania games
mario & luigi super star saga
harvest moon
these are my favorites, personally
modded OG GBA with backlit
