RTX off.
RTX off.
so can't they just make the shadows get blurry instead of using ray tracing?
RTX on.
the further it is the blurrier it gets, it isnt a general value
RTX off
>better version is with RTX OFF and runs at triple the framerate
Based
RTX on
>rtx off has more shadows
did they fuck this up and reversed it?
Yea Forumsirgins are braindamaged
They're contextually blurry though, based on our environmental lights
>pebbles cast shadows
>everything else cast less shadows
Have you been outside before?
in some screens off actually looks better, even if it is less "correct". remember, that art is not always about being correct
literally looks worse with it on
realism is a meme, artists will always do a better job
the other moment in the street does show a massive improvement in shadows, where the scenery does cast shadows in objects, making it easier understand their actual space in the 3D world.
Old games had this issue a lot, and it still shows from time to time.
Pic related, the bench and the seat dont have the shadows from the pillar, making it seem like it should be further away, as it stands it pops the fuck up as an entity with its own properties, a prop in the level.
I kinda like how 'off' looks. Everything is much more crisp. I think most people play shooters at the lowest settings to lower visual clutter though.
>cod
>art
ayy lmao
He's not wrong. While the shadows are far too sharp with RTX off, they still need to be there. You can actually see the light hitting the guard rail in the back and yet it doesn't cast a shadow when RTX is on?
upboated
forgot pic
RTX Off: FEAR shadows
RTX On: Ocarina of Time shadows
You literally spent the time to reverse the RTX on/off pictures. Literally have sex
Simple fact of the matter is that I don't really give a shit about this level of lighting. I could still get as immersed in the RTX off version.
The fact that it absolutely tanks the framerate even on the most expensive cards available is just the icing of the cake on how shit of a feature this is.
oh wait nvm lol holy shit nvidia shills btfo'd
Are you ok?
Blind or retarded?
do you even have eyes? shadows arent 100% hard in real life, the soft shadows that get blurrier the further they are from the light source are the correct simulated result.
Wrong. Those shadows are fake and gay.
This thread is soulless dess.
If this is a MP map I hope it's actually that dark and stuff like night vision and things is practical for use
I think it looks better with RTX on, the hard shadows look like shit
It's not perfect either, but there should be something there on the ground besides a curved gradient. The light source, rails, and ground are way too close to not show some of the rail shape in the shadow.
That tyre is an eye sore.
I can't afford it so it looks worse
Yeah but plenty of games have soft shadows without raping 70% of your performance. RTX is a meme right now. It's young, unoptimized tech made for suckers until developers know how to actually use it properly. Same as people who bought 32 inch 720p HDTVs for $10,000 to watch 480p standard format content stretched across it.
I'd like to know how much of a performance hit it will be. I couldn't even reach 30 fps at 4k on Quake RTX.
Full image is required to determine how accurate is rtx, t b h.
>tyre
Ray-tracing will look amazing on the PS5 once console developers get their hands on the tech.
>xhe still plays games on pc instead of superior and affordable consoles
>It's another thread of seething poorfag trying to justify their poorfaggotry with the "soul" meme
It's an AAA westacuck game anyway, there's was never any soul, just realism, and more realism added exclusively to the PC version is not a bad thing at all
Why is Yea Forums full of Luddites?
I'm not about to go buy a 2080 but I can accept that the ray traced lighting looks good.
Will be nice as this filters down and becomes standard.
Yes basically this is PhysX all over again. Nvidia trying to bank on a graphic tech that should be available to everyone in the first place.
Which means that one day all games will have raytraced elements and Nvidia will abandon their proprietary bullshit. Just like PhysX.
But saying it looks worse or that it's useless is utterly retarded.
apparently games still have doom 3 shadows without RTX according to nvidia
please forget about all the shadow tech that nvidia used to push that did all the same shit without RTX and buy a 2080ti right now fellow gamers
>Running in front of a spotlight
>Casts 0 (zero) shadow
What the fuck?
That's normal, retard.
>4K
>ray tracing
>acceptable framerate
Pick two.
You've lost your mind
look at these beautiful fullbright bushes, so real
imagine wasting your money on Ngoydia
>equipment in soldiers changes
Did they take these pictures with different settings asides from rtx?
Might be randomized and after game reset.
Oh I thought the two pictures I replied to were from a campaign mission with fixed soldiers, that's likely too I guess. Either way I don't really care for this RTX thing, there are some improvements here and there, the foliage in the pictures I replied to look better for example, but there's other shadows that don't make much sense or that look way smoother than they should, certainly not worth the performance drop in a shooter too.
