Is that Dennis hopper in the cover art?
>he hasn't watched space truckers
Sometimes Space Truckin doesn't pay enough for a man to make a livin. Sometimes a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.
Paragon, quad Tachyon lances. Hardened shields and optics hullmod. Throw some burst PD lasers on the small beam slots.
You've just won the game. This ship has the longest range in the game for direct damage and instakills almost every ship up to cruisers. Most cruisers/carriers will die in 2. Will also dumpster every capital ship except another paragon.
If you've got some other ships with Gauss guns for hard flux, it becomes even more overpowered.
I can't go back to the other ships anymore, this setup is too strong by comparison.
>Wow you actually figured out how to be a leech even in-game.
Hey buddy, the I didn't choose the NEET life
>pirates have a base in a system with two other factions
>constant war, base is isolated and needs thousands of different products
>mfw
Pirates pretty much sponsored my colony at this point.
>dat portrait
Fuck, I might have to replay FM3 again.
>DO IT FOR HER
If I sell enough of a demanded item, will the price of said item go down? Like if I sell a bunch shit ton of bullets to the Ludic Path will the demand for it go down?
>starsector.txt posting
I've been roaming around as a bounty hunter fighting small gangs with just frigates and destroyers but I just found a Conquest and now I feel like a god of war. Everything's exploding, this ship is awesome and I've probably got a shit loadout too. What's the best way to set it up?
Whose dick do I have to suck to get tachyon lances? I only found one in the entire playthrough. Is it a rare drop from radiants or something?
>wasting slots on burst PD
Just use all tactical lasers + graviton beams + HILs. This is the strongest Paragon fit.
Mining Blasters, Mining Lasers, Hammer Barrages & Manticores
That's not gonna work against more than one enemy
Of course it will. I've killed giant 300+ ship sindrian fleets with it all the time in my previous version's safe.
no bs, point for point the eos is one of the most efficient mining/surveying ships you can kit
The Eos is alright for mining, but when you get into real ship production, stacking your fleet with 30 capitals speccd for mining can rip most things to exhaustion within 1-2 days.
[REDACTED] and ruins/derelict research stations.
Is there no way to make the default speed up of the campaign map go faster? even by having it toggled all the time it still feels slow as fuck.
Just dropping in to say Space Truckers sucked.
what program do you use to make the webms? I want to make some of my own
"Webm for Retards" (aka "WebmConverter" after github banned their name)
Are there better retarded officer-proof eagle fits than this one? It's generally good at staying alive against outnumbering enemies and applying pressure which is anything I want from them, but lacks good shield breaking once out of sabots.
What's wrong with the typical hypervelocity + mass pulse laser setup?
Assume I'm a brainlet, how accessible is this game? How hard is the learning curve before every thing starts to click?
Everything is fairly compartmentalized into things you want to do.
"ha ha pew pew ship shooty ha ha ha ha"
And then you realize you could be making more money, and start taking bounties, moving cargo, fuck it might as well just start up a colony.
Read the fucking tooltips and the index and you'll be fine. Nobody in this thread reads the tooltips so they make the game sound harder than it really is.
The tutorial is also quite good and you can pick up everything it doesn't teach you just by playing more.
its an old video, but still is a great little introduction, explains the basic gameplay loop
1) Start game
2) Accept commission from the first Hegemony colony you see
3) Leave game on for one night
4) Start having fun with the game now that money isn't an issue
Why wouldn't you just save yourself time by just giving yourself the money you want?
Small or medium world? Does running a small world lessen the amount of loot you can find, or is it redistributed?
>cheating
how about no
So i'm using Nexerelin and i keep seeing those relation events between AI factions and i was wondering if i can do something like that with my own faction to improve or decrease relations with the AI.
How is it any different
It's the least tedious legit way to make money in the game
Neither option presents any risk to the player so you might as well just cheat the credits in you pedantic faggot.
Cretin
Hate the game, not the player
A small sector has less star systems. What do you think that affects?
Why does it have to look so bad?
So abusing the commission system and letting the game idle as you get given free money isn't cheating.
But giving yourself the same amount of money without the wait is?
You're a retard, user.
It's an indie product m7
>do planet assessment because Yea Forums told me that is easy
>go far away
>suddenly pirates catch me
>try to flee
>half my fleet dies
>lose a lot of resources
>cannot make it back
Brainlet
Check your fucking radar and stop going AFK in hyperspace m8
looks amazing as far as good space or economy sims go
>Caring about cheating in a single player game
I bet you just plow into hyperspace storms too.
If you cheat you might as well not play. Just saiyan
this is such a stupid take to have.
epitome of that I am silly MsPaint comic with the tic tac toe.
you shouldnt?
Don't listen to that fag. If you time your emergency burns correctly storms can actually shorten your travel time.
Any part of a nebula that doesn't have lightning is safe to fly through. As long as you don't just autofly to every star you can make 99% of trips without taking any damage.
how do know how much you can buy off the black market. I sometimes buy a little bit of stuff on the black market and immediately get apprehended and they scan me, even though I spend a lot on the normal market as well
turn off your identifier.
Whats the best way to hunt down Remnants? i can never find them when i want and i need more AI cores
You lose way more in supplies than you'd ever save on fuel, and supplies are a lot more expensive per unit. Flying into storms is considered a terrible idea in-universe for a reason.
Red warning beacon systems
Yellow ones contain damaged nexuses which are a lot easier to take down and also weaker fleets
Find a red or yellow system but don't destroy the station. As long as the space station is there new fleets will spawn over time.
>forced to go back too early from exploration because of all the loot
Is it possible to make Mule and Gemini based fleed that can defeat weaker [redacted]? What`s best main gun for that? Probably Hyperverlocity driver should put a lot of pressure on enemy while being relatively safe, or Arbalest as poverty option. Or maybe Graviton beam spam.
Hire some agents
What would you have it look like?
Just use drovers and fighter spam
>his capital doesn't have safety overwrite
>he doesn't ram the fuck out of his enemies
ew
I know that the quality of the webm is shit, but I didn't want to split it
fuck you hiro, give us a higher file size limit
>brags about ramming
>proceeds to expose his engine
What's this [REDACTED] thing I keep seeing about this game? Is it another colony?
with mod out there where i can use nukes or bombs? lasers and cannons are getting boring
its better to see it
Pretty crafty, hiding from the weapons of the enemy cap ship behind the wreckages of his little friends.
Explore the sector, newbie.
What's the point of using anything else when Odyssey exists? System made exactly for ramming shit and ship itself is very good overall, it's pretty underrated.
Interstellar Imperium has space nuke that clears multiple screens.
???
It looks amazing what the fuck are your standards?
>speed towards the enemy with assault burn
>burn runs out
>suddenly slow down to crawl in this water-filled space
HMMMMM
Odyssey doesn't have the frontal firepower needed to make it work, nor the insane flux dissipation that SO gives, that's why. Odyssey is good for flanking and hunting down smaller ships, but it cannot keep up with other capitals in an upfront fight
Technically it's not [REDACTED] but more.. [CENSORED]
I kinda like Flash bombers, but can't find any of them. At that point I have more Tachyon lances (3) than Flash LPCs (2). What do?
It's rogue AI ships
Can you paint your ships, yet?
Does selling drugs to pirates make them stronger?
I dumped a couple thousand units into a pirate base to make some pocket change and suddenly I'm seeing pirate smuggling fleets with 4 atlas mkII and a fuckton of cruisers.
>His sensor profile is higher than his IQ.
>Laughing doom_cruisers.exe
All your Starsector boys, post your fleets and rate other fleets!
I'll start off with mine!
no bully
so are drone boats shit, or is it just me? i don't get how the fuck to use them properly, feels weird.
They're what happens after nobody paid for a full copy of winRAR for a couple of thousand years.
>cycle 212
>somehow doing worse than a guy who would afk for 6 years
Selling blueprints to any black market is the only thing that makes them stronger i think.
I found the XIV Legion in the first month of my game and it has been the core of my fleet since then, while every other ship is a disposable escort.
>Legion
>Gryphon
>2x Dominators
>Eagle
>2x Heron
>Conquest class
>5 destroyers
>3 frigates
Do i need to go bigger?
Enjoy having a useless ship when all your torpedoes miss.
Can't miss when I unphase directly up their asshole user!
how the fuck do you take screenshots?
It just goes black.
tfw STILL no Paragon blueprint and only 3 tachyon lances
Go anorexic user. They can't burn at what they can't see.
Is there any mod that removes the new dmods on ships?
Feels like everything I get has increased maintenance, which goes against the whole idea of dmod ships being cheap.
hammer print screen a lot. I have the same "feature". Don't know if its a general problem or something specific but repeatedly spamming it seems to handle it.
Why is the AI so bad with phase. They use it as soon a a projectile is fired but miles away from them. By the time its anywhere close they don't have any flux left to dodge the attack
POWER>>>>upkeep
so, do i just safety override literally everything?
I'd disagree until recently because I put aggressive/reckless AI in the phase ships. They will absolutely abuse phase mechanics for that backyard rumpus up the pumpus routine. I tried a steady and saw the exact behaviour you described and it was fucking disgusting.
But nobody will beat you in a phase ship, the AI simply doesn't understand the power of your fully operational reaper launcher platform.
Yes.
Safety is for wimps.
Current naval doctrine suggests yes. I'm trying that other user's idea of putting insulated engines and efficiency hullmods on everything and having a flying dutchman fleet nobody can see.
It's proving to be pretty hilarious so far, I just need a little more firepower in the shape of a few big phase ships.
Absolute UNIT of a fleet user. Oh lawd he comin.
GOD FUCK
what do you do once you made some money. How to get strong.
I'm at the point in vanilla where I'm an unstoppable god and there's really nothing else to do, so I figured I'm going to do a modded playthrough.
Anything else I should add faction / weapons / QoL wise? I'm trying to avoid COMPLETELY BROKEN BULLSHIT factions but idk what to look out for really, just glancing at threads.
Was thinking about throwing in some weapon mods but it seems like there's already a good amount in the base game without adding new overpowered / overly situational shit.
your starsector folder should have a screenshot folder, check it out
They're tiny additions but I like them for the immersion: Combat chatter and combat alarm sounds.
With me it gives a screen that happened a while earlier than the screen i currently have, or it throws the tactical screen over the battle.
Do what you do in any game. Buy bigger weapons and make more money.
I dont know what works well though. I tried simulation but nothing really works
I had to prove this movie was real not too long ago...
Start a colony, get even more profits, start heavy industry, shit out your own ships and weapons, destroy everything.
Oh!
Oh
oh.
how do i git gud?
Oh, thanks man.
Look at my shitty fleet now.
Fat and slow. Literally no idea what I'm doing.
really thinking I gotta downsize.
not shown, 1 more Pernarch (the khaki troop transporter you see there) and 4 Diable Avionics Shear Tug hulls
anime portraits
Why the fuck are NEUTRAL pirates fleets attacking me??
How the fuck do I increase my rep like this ffs
do you have the NGO .91 download link?
Pirates don't give a fuck, they're pirates.
Fuck you give me free shit.
>that kojima spaceman portrait.
my nigga.
Retard
wait, you're not using tachyone lance?
I get this too, also when using greenshot it can't handle multiple screens
Anyone have the mod to increase the size of the sector?
thanks
>Use the active Gates mod (after removing the retarded fuel cost)
>There's no way to tell where the gates are before or after you turn them on
This game really needs user markers for the map, I shouldn't need to do this shit to see where my closest working gate is.
If you sell survey data to factions, will they try and colonize the star?
no
i remember some guy asking here how to switch between linked and alternating fire on weapons and i just found out, you have to click on the mode in the refit screen
They all have vast archives with thousands of different surveys of every single celestial body in the sector. They don't care. They just need to keep people busy and make it look like they're planning to do something. When you hand in survey data, they don't even look at it. They just chuck it with the rest.
I am big dumb, how do you get enough supplies to sustain a large fleet? I've got 1 capital and 7 cruisers and I feel like I can't go do things in the fringe of the galaxy without running out of fuel or supplies. I know I should get another tanker and freighter but that just generates more supply/fuel usage.
>removing the rarted gate costs
Shit how do you do that?
Well, frieghters may increase the consumption, but not to the scale of the capitals and cruisers, besides, of you have all that, you should've already started your colony, in which case money for supplies shouldn't be an issue.
>mods\Active-Gates-master\data\config
>open the settings file
>change the fuel multiplier to 0
It will still charge you a little fuel, I average 9 to 30 depending on gate distances but it can be handwaved as the fuel cost of getting in and out.
>not drawing it on a paper next to your keyboard
I can accept that cost, but holy fuck the costs I got had it bad enough that I'm thinking it's probably not that they broke, but that we can't pay the retarded fuel costs of going to the other sectors to begin with.
I just started my first colony and it's still pretty small so it doesn't make much yet. I overestimated how expensive colonies are and waited way too long before making my first. So my financial situation isn't the greatest.
When I start a new game I use debug mode to check out the list of planets and sort it by most valuable.
If there are good planets on the list, then I stick with it. If there aren't, I restart.
Fite me.
>Sell pirates blueprints in Arigato after making friends with them
>They still won't use them and stick to their build-a-block cardboard ships
I fucking gave them fucking Approlight prints, I'm thinking of giving them one of my shittier planets with an orbital works and my spare pristine nanoforge. Should I? Will it help making them the mad hounds I seek to take over the universe with?
hey, i don't use fuel while moving in a system right? or is it just really small amounts?
>Try tachyon lance analogues from Neutrino and DME which people consider OP mods
>Still prefer vanilla one because EMP too savage
Seriously, fucking up whole ship with clear hit in hull is too sick.
The cdkey on the image doesn't work.
If you're using Active Gates, which you should be that won't work. A system with a gate in it is worth far more than one where you have to travel in and out. Also a 2 star gas giant with a few 1-3 star planets orbiting are far more useful than a lone 5 star. The super world can only be defended by its own fleets but a bunch of shitty worlds close to each other can put up enough fleets to screen out any invasion force.
It still kinda works since you can still check the system the planet is in and see the hazards of the rest of them.
Does anyone use Cathedral hubship from SW Pack?
It`s fucking weird.
>main battery is always AI-controlled
>does not have nearly enough flux on main battery to support large weapons
>most of missiles and fighter bays are also AI-controlled
Basically, it seems to be a ship to sit back and throw fighters and LRMs until enemies die trying to break your shield.
I'm at the point where yellow REDACTED systems are easy but red ones are too hard. Not sure what to do besides praying for an Astral blueprint
I am running and scavenge from all mods I can get all conversions and paintjobs (plus added some paintjobs and conversions for some vessels)
Idea is to make all existing vanilla factions use their own painted versions(mostly the same, maybe minor difference) and add more conversions(especially civilian ones) for indies/scavengers/pirates/ludds
Essentially Vanilla plus
git good
Because your brain is rotted
Why do you even need all those "escorts"? Just keep the capitals and the carriers, the rest are literally just leeching off your supplies. Get some Collossi to take their place, maybe even a couple Atlas frieghters and fucking hell dude where's your tanker?
Imperium is very good and balanced.
You can see the tanker peeking at the very bottom.
>want to get rid of the luddic path
>don't want to do saturation bombardments because then I'd have more issues on my ass
why do these faggots have "morals" with bombardments but raided my system day 1 after I colonised it
I just found myself a free guntlas. Is it worth keeping, I already have a pretty big fleet.
I just use drones to flood the battlefield while my capitals get in range. All my logistics are off the page, I use one atlas, one prometheus and a couple medium sized freighters and tankers when I'm going into the far corners
HIL are remnants technology only?
I have to admit that I have absolute shit pilot skills
Ruthless Sector to increase difficulty
Just raid their planets into dust. The stability penalty stacks and colonies will decivilize after enough time spent at 0 stability.
You can also press Shift + 1-5 to change the corresponding groups to autofire during combat for your ship
I hope you have some Ox
Oxen
>All these fags that had to take a commission to make money
Fucking kids. In my day, we went independent, got every faction to love us, trudged 30 lightyears through hyperspace barefoot, and we fucking loved it.
Aurora is shit! SHIT!
aurora is prolly the second or third best ship in the game, specifically safety overrides aurora with heavy blasters
Onslaught needs to go on a diet
>decide to try and take Sindria instead of starting my first colony
>it works wonderfully
>but there is an independent world in the system
>the comm relay/nav bouy is under independent control
>it says taking control of it would be an act of war against indies
>already friends with indies and would rather not attack them
what the fuck can I do? Even when I had control of them I looked away for a minute and by the time i got back they where under indie control again, is there any way for me to kick this indie colony out of the system without declaring war? playing with nex
just blow it up and then rebuild
if nobody see you its just be some light rep penalty
>inb4 Carrierfag
b-bullshit..
What mod is the rhombus from?
Any mods that add super-capitals? I'm talking like Star Wars Executor class
oh ok, shame though because its a +2 stability special one
then take it start war then sneak in and bribe them with gamma cores and prisoners
If you mean Nemean Lion class then Scy nation
Thanks!
More Ships and Weapons has a mobile starbase
This big enough for you, size queen? It's the ship/weapon pack. High Tech Armada also has a monstrously huge capital.
BLUE has a big dumb giant version of an onslaught thats about 4 times the size of a normal battleship.
Kadur remnant has something of similar size
Shit I have that mod. Gonna have to go hunting to find one.
Hubmind
high level pather fleets, eventually if you have a colony pather raids will include them.
You could wait until pirates come, let them take over the relay and then you take it for yourself.
Discovered some real moneymaking abuse
Just attack the spaceports and disrupt them, wait the month or 2 it takes for them to be ok with trading with you again, then sell them supplies, fuel, marines, drugs, and organs in deficits of 400 to 1000 at 3x the market price
It's such a pain trying to get so much cheap materials to sell I just grab an from my resource stockpile, it's the flat base price with no taxes so it's worse then finding deficits but faster
I end up pulling out 1.5 mil at the end of the month in resources and sell it to the poor dying sindra for 4 mil
The posts in this thread are mighty suspicious.
i found one of them(already disrupted) when I as playing spacer start
before hardly scrapped like 400k (with constant monthly payments)
then got to 3mln in like few seconds
nonsense, user.
Anybody got a tip on how to arm a conquest? Managed to nab a lionsguard one from a bounty.
What is the most long-range energy setup I can build? I'm on a shitty laptop, get 15 fps and combat is hard as cold donkpockets.
I wonder who could be behind this picket?
This one
The game has blueprints from what I've found, can you actually produce your own ships and gear for them? Can I make an actual fleet that's not a total mess, consisting of 25 different ship types?
Yep, you have to make a colony first. Once you have heavy industry running you can make ships.
Found a colony and star up heavy industries. Once you find a nanoforge all your produced ships will stop having d-mods
Does it happen in a reasonable timeframe or is each ship taking a billion years to produce?
Dunno how you define reasonable. It's not like you can make 25 in one month with a brand-new colony though. It depends on the colony's size and on the size of the ship you're making
kill them, i was 99 rep then i bombed their shit a few times to lower their stability horribly and cause them to decivilize, only cost me 20 reppoints or so. when they are gone they can be taken for free
And rocket cruisers with pillums.
wtf nigger?
it looks great
hope you fucking choke on this (you)
I've always found that pilliums blow, how do you make them useful?
The existing portraits are all dogshit, too little for a Slav to choose from.
So I had to take matters into my own hands.
>Faggot pirates harassing my trade convoys and com arrays for the 10th time.
I AM GONNA SKULL FUCK EVERY SINGLE PIRATE SHITP I FIND EVEN IF ITS A LONE FRIGATE. THE WORD GENOCIDE IS GOING TO HAVE A NEW MEANING AFTER I AM DONE WITH THESE FAGGOTS.
Pathers and cabal are cool tho, they dindu nothin.
You can reasonably produce about 500.000c worth of heavy industry (from 2 colonies with heavy industry) each month, this equals to about 1 and a bit capital ship per month or way more smaller ones.
I torrented this game but cannot get it to work as does not come with a cd key. Anyone know where I'm going wrong?
>found the derelict xiv legion
it begins
Missile spec to 3 with a few carriers with flights of wasp or sparks to soak up all their PD fire.
How do I get ships if I play scavange only?
I mainly need carriers. I have one Legion (XIV) that I found drifting in spcae but I really lack medium sized ships. Should I just attack some lone patrols and wage guerilla war on some faction?
Download game straight from their website, install, and just type in Sseth's key or whatever random key you can find on the Internet. The devs aren't autistic about piracy, so if you like it buy it later when you have opportunity or at least spread the word around about the game.
>this fucking wolf keeps pathing in front of my paragon's plasma cannons
someday im just gonna blast those little shits
follow invasion fleets or go into hot zones
explore
attack bounties
Is there a bighueg portrait collection mod which is devoid of animepoo faggotry? I don't want my immersion being stunk up by anime girls.
>t.
god damn i love this BRDY carrier
Every time you see an announcement of a raid or attack go to that system like the vulture you are
>Are there better retarded officer-proof eagle fits than this one?
yes, the one where you never buy that pile of shit in the first place
Biggest reason I bought the game to begin with. Pirated it years ago and realized the dev didn't have a problem with free publicity and actually thought the mechanic of bombing you with mass pirate fleets was amusing on a "cracked" copy so I bought it. Lowest cost per hour game i've ever played.
Not really, but you can go into mods/Portrait pack/graphics/portraits and delete the egregious portraits yourself.
you can pay to remove d-mods on refit screen
It sucks that I have to be commissioned to get the factions ships even if my rep is maxed out.
better to replace them
You can pay big bucks to have them removed in the refit tab while docked in a station. Its next to the autofit button
Done
What pirate ships should I be on the lookout for? I mostly ignore pirate rustbuckets but I've heard that Falcom (or was it Eagle) (P) is superior to base variant
you're right, it might break something if you simply delete them.
Where can I reliably get AI cores? I found a couple of Alpha/Beta and around 10 Gamma cores earlier in my save but I traded them for $ and rep and now I need some for my colony
>Tfw you lose a ship and get glitched sensor array and some other non critical dmods and get to use it for less points and throw even more at the enemy
of the currently updated ones Ship and weapon pack has some of the bigger ones
RED used to have an stupidly big ship, but it's not updated
look for warning beacons and farm the [redacted] in that system like the sluts they are.
is there any footage of someone fighting this thing?
>Maximum burn: 7
Falcon (P) is great torpedo(or missile boat)
Enforcer is solid too like a brick
Mules for cargo(and combat support if needed)
Shepards for more scavenging
Wolves (P) are weaker but still decent
Are the red ones much more difficult than the yellow ones? I am in the colony-180k bounty stage of the game and the yellow remnant systems might as well no exist.
For some reason the default AI routine is to position themselves right in front of an enemy ship. That's why you'll often end up with those retarded traffic jams where you have three ships hugging each other's asses right in the line of fire of the enemy.
that's really fast for a big chungus like that.
hell the atlas has a burn of 6 and it's quite literally just some boxes and a fuckhuge engine.
pirate buffaloos and mules have shielded cargo holds, letting you dab on patrols by letting them scan your 100 POUNDS OF PUSSY AND ASS without finding shit.
Bigger fleets. The spike in difficulty is noticeable. Engage red ones when you are around 300K bounty level, to be on the safe side.
That's my point, that thing should have like 4 or 5 max burn
Which mod adds this ship?
I am become death, destroyer of worlds.
I like how you refused to pick a side in the neverending "Onslaught v Paragon" debate and decided to have a fuckload of both.
How do I make mad profits with smuggling? selling drugs only gets me around 80k each run which take awhile too
>All these niggers using tri-jew ships and faggy energy weapons
Pathetic
How do I improve my framerates in the bigger battles
download more ram
>10fps
>Reinhard, Hitler and anime girl walk into a fleet depot...
you cant because java lmao
this game is forever kneecapped
I've already hit my RAM download cap for the month
>cpulets
Chose your market wisely. Locate the ones where the markup is the highest. Maybe a market that's about to get hit by a raid, or an invasion, or a market that has decivilized. You have insider information on those things, use it.
It also doesn't have to be strictly illegal goods, but if you insist on those, make sure to chose Tri-Tachyon as your supplier. They usually have more on hand and the prices are lower.
Tips for safety override-only fleet?
How do you guys outfit the Harbinger?
Also I'm going full high-tech/Tri-Tachyon fleet. Which energy weapon is the best against shields? I mean I'm definitely using sabots, but still.
Pulse and plasma weaponry are pretty decent, honestly, simply because they have a tendency to overwhelm any shield.
For me it's the Odyssey
What's the point of having such fuckhuge fleets of capitals and cruisers and whatnot if you cant use 80% in combat? Also I have a huge issue of enemy light destroyers and frigates outrunning all my ships so combat takes fucking ages cuz I have to pin them in a corner so they stop backpedaling from me.
Odysseys are so damn fragile, how do you keep your officer from not pulling a Leroy Jenkins
Apogee sucks dick
Download the fast forward combat mod
sort your shit by size, what the fuck man
What supercomputer are you running this on?
seems like a really effective strategy.
9700k @ 5ghz
you want tachyon lances and nothing else
Not pictured: two (D) legions and an aurora waiting at a station storage until I have the funds
Sorting?
What do you mean?
>space russia.webm
By turning that weakness into an asset. They just spam sabots, autopulse keeps pressure up, tach lance exploits the high flux and hurricanes feel more reliable to me than standard torps. The Xyphos wings provide long range fire and guard the ship while venting. Front facing shields stop the ship from being exposed on the flanks and rear and make it soak up fire. It's a jack of all trades shipfu.
>Unironically running scavenging rigs
Recommend me a mid that adds some non-minority captain pictures, that also isnt anime. I'm tired of staring at old mexicans and chinks in this game, please.
What mod adds all those crazy ships on top?
>that also isnt anime
not gonna happen
This was supposed to be a more midline run with a few high-tech ships, but one GMDA blueprint pack later, some lucky derelicts found in space, and multiple "donations" from the Starlight Cabal later...
And also drones. I like drones.
Day 2 of my Blackrock run and I still suck. I have 3 Knights, should I buy two battlecarriers or one of the big interdictors next? BRDY sucks as a faction, apparently, because we only have one system and I don't have access to any of the weapons the autofits want.
Also which of their fighters should I be spamming, the heavy Kraits?
Do I get brownie points for helping resolve shortages if I sell the shit with my transponder off?
Come on there has to be ONE. I just wanna play as a white guy.
>selling to speculators and criminals
no user, no
With a bit less S O Y please.
It looks cool as hell which is enough reason to use it.
Messy Portait Pack has some white fellers
Just trim out the animes
It has some of the best shields in the game. Harden them and it can face tank most anything and keep it occupied while you bring in the heavy hitters.
Has anyone spoken to the dev about the onion and diversity problem in this game?
Didn't you get the memo? There's no white or attractive people in the future, they were all bred into a frumpy, 90 IQ ubermensch. Just give up and take the AI pill.
Why don't you want extra loot user?
yes and their bodies was found in the ditch with the marking of mezo gangs
searched everywhere then faught some remnants and got HIL drop.
My fleet burns through 7 supplies a day and it takes 3000 fuel to get anywhere, still the red planet defenses fuck my shit up. Am I doing something wrong?
>implying the sector wasn't a some shithole populated by Mexicans, blacks, Indians, Arabs and jarheads
I don't think you understand the how the factions work with this whole maxism thing. Let me fill you in. There's the SJW faction, which consists of cucks, soibois, the L, B, and T of the LGBTP, and the "lol science" crowd, as well as most atheists. Their tech is Apple products, their main vehicle is the electric scooter. Opposing them is the anime nazi faction, which consists mostly of non-white white supremacists, with a small contingent of actual whites. Ideologically, they're mostly religious Luddites, although there is a subgroup that includes the G and the P of the LGBTP, which has ambiguous stance on that. Their tech is gook phones or, increasingly, dumb phones, and their main mode of transportation is walking, that is, when they do make the rare excursion out of the basement.
So it's either old mexicans and chinks or anime. There is no third position.
Only 7? Post fleet pics.
Try splitting your forces in half and rally them halfway up the battle space on opposing sides. Majority of the enemy fleet will split off to attack one side while the other is free to start flanking and mopping up stragglers and forcing the remainder to divide attention while it gets spit roasted.
But I'm selling on the open market.
Red planet defenses scale with something, not sure with what exactly. Post what yours consist of.
what are even the downsides of commission? in warband you had to answer marshal summons or suffer a relations loss with the marshal.
Tfw i'm too much of a brainlet to make money with trading/smuggling. my profit margins are always 5-10%

>Military base require an industrial slot for no reasons
>Commerce require an industrial slot for no reasons
Colonies are still the worst aspect of this game.
Is it worth it to continue tech mining after the ruins were comprehensively combed through?
Colonies were absolutely busted in 0.9 when there was no cap on industry slots, or even a distinction between industry and structures at all.
Not really, doesn't feel like tech mining at all is worth anything anymore.
just mod it
no
The sector is where all the undesirables of the Dominion were pushed to and stranded
>what are even the downsides of commission?
Your rep with other factions goes up and down based on the diplomacy of the faction you are commissioned with. So if your space jesus faction decides to one day declare holy jihad on everyone else then you are fucked.
I upped the battle size to 500 so I could actually deploy all of my ships. Helped tremendously
Dilate faggot
>Colonies were absolutely busted in 0.9 when there was no cap on industry slots, or even a distinction between industry and structures at all.
Yes that change was good, but stuff that isn't an industry, i.e. a money-making element just utility shouldn't have an hard limit, especially since you are already spending money on that.
Frankly speaking the dev has no idea what the fuck to do with the colonies.
No but seriously. The bias is silly. Either every9ne should be allowed, or it should all be faceless.

i get you but its word of dev

>The internet edgelord in the wild, when cornered, spews stock phrases
Mil bases and High Commands produce marines, while Patrol Bases only crew. You only need patrol bases to have the colony launch fleets, fleet size depends more on colony size and stability (though Mil bases and High Commands have higher stability bonuses)
Commerce should deffo not count as Industry, definitely.
Dilate faggot
Where is the Warhammer 40k mod? There's a trillion shipclasses in the lore.
Patrol fleets are always two light pickets, regardless of colony size. The military base and high command are the ones that scale off of colony size.
Not even when it's vast ruins?
You can place the tech mining industry, but keep in mind that you will eventually have to replace it.
Memory leak then, restart the software.
What I'm getting at is how probable is it to find something really useful, like say, an alpha?
Well, finding an alpha is probably hitting the mother lode, but good luck with that
There's definitely at least a minor memory leak. Save times get longer and longer as you continually run the game.
Depends on the ruin sizes.
Damn, I miss when techmining ruins was basically free supplies and fuel.
How does your average battlefield look like after a while of fighting?
So I'm playing Nex and one faction spams me with raids and conquest expeditions non-stop to the point when I can't go get shield blueprint from fringe of sector because my 2 colonies are constantly threatened. How do I make them fuck off, will wrecking everything on their major worlds do?
You can pay to stop expeditions, otherwise upgrade to star fortress with at least one high command in the system and pray it's enough while your'e out exploring
There's like 5-6 fleets with multiple capitals each, even star fortress can't handle it because it simply gets overwhelmed by absurd numbers. Is there even any economy implemented in Nex that regulates how much forces they can deploy depending on their industry strength, or they just spawn in any number RNG desires?
>Mil bases and High Commands produce marines, while Patrol Bases only crew.
This shit should be decoupled. Have something like Military Academia that produce soldiers, while having Mil Bases and ups require soldiers.

Which stations do I go to to get the dank ships like a Doom?
Do you think the Domain of Man would willfully cut off a section of space occupied by whites and never fight tooth and nail to get it back?
Face it. The Sector was colonized by arabs blacks and Mexicans. You’re a nigger, I’m a nigger, the Anons you’re talking to are niggers. This is Space Africa and we’re nothing but warlords fighting each other in fleets of Toyota trucks bushcrafted for combat. The western world (Domain) cut us off for good reason and want nothing to do with us.
You either choose to have a maximized moneymaker or one that makes less money but is protected by a fleet. This isn’t a difficult concept.
It still gives you free supplies and fuel. They just don’t contribute to the commodity production of the colony because it’s meaningless.
TAKING YOU BACK TO THE DAYS OF TRYNA LOSE CONTROL
OH SHIT I'M FEELIN IT
Tri-tach
Fuck you, my character is white
Do colonies you create in the same system trade/share resources with each other or interact in anyway?
this makes way more sense if you also have the idea that the mods are canon as well. they obviously aren't but its an entertaining idea, nonetheless.
they do, but the trade between them is instantaneous and shows no fleets.
>implying I don't use furry portraits instead of a bunch of space Amerigoblins.
Yes and they will try in faction unless you can't support the demand and then import.
>implying that is not a direct downgrade
It's mostly the fact that most character portraits are in shade or in unnatural light but there's plenty of whites.
Whiter than you, Luddhomad.

Does this game give a true mount & blade experience or is it emotionally dishonest like Kenshi where the world isn't actually living
Do you guys take defending your colonies seriously?
The economy is more in depth than mount and blade, though without nex stuff like conquest is pretty gimped. Get Nex for the full spacejew experience.
I like to have each of my planets be fortresses, magnetic planets are impenetrable.
For some reason my fps dropped really hard on my crapbook, if before I had stable 30 fps outside and in combat, now I have 10-15. Anyone had same issue?
>Get Nex for the full spacejew experience
I assume it's still recommended to do a vanilla playthrough at first, right
Sometimes after having played a while the game slows to crawl outside of combat, even saving takes ages. Luckily just turning the game off and restarting it fixes it for me.
Wait I can only put one "industry" per planet now?
What the fuck?
I found a mid-tier AI in a derelict station, can I automate my fleet with it?
>Hegemonkeys, driven to their last few colonies, resort to making an Alliance with Approlight.
I REFUSE TO LET YOU MAKE ME GO THROUGH PENIS INSPECTION DAY. YEAH I USE AI CORES, NO I DONT CARE YOU'RE FILTHY LUDDITES. STEP THE FUCK OFF. APPROLIGHT HASNT EVEN EXPANDED PAST THEIR STARTING SYSTEM, AND IIRC, THEY EVEN LOST ONE TO THE PIRATES.
I didn't, but that's because any game I play has to be modded to hell and back. The biggest change with nex is market takeovers, so a shitty little colony can and will be invaded by a faction that hates you.
It's size-dependant
3 — 1 industry
4 — 2
5 — 3
7 — 4
Is it normal to find a paragon ship in the middle of nowhere?
My issue doesn't fixed that way. I already tried reinstalling video drivers - no results.
Alright, I was thinking that might be related to size, but fucked if I knew anything for sure. Thank you very much!
>early game
>go to low danger beacon system
>shitloads of salvage
>maybe a ruin planet
>1-2 frigate tier enemies, can do even with tutorial fleet (you get a destroyer or 2 for free)
>they even drop nice loot themselves
>get a full freighter`s worth of stuff
Fuck, exploration is comfy.
I just need some more freighters.
Does the 'hack-job/high-tech/low-tech' designation actually mean something or is it just fluff?
No but it happens. Not that you'll be able to get it running right away, it's full of d-mods and all the weapons it needs are huge pain to get.
you can find all kind of shit in abandoned systems
How do I screenshot the game?
Doctrine defining how ship performs
Generally low tech relies more on finite resources like armor or missiles and specialized projectile weapons while high tech focuses on sheld and universal energy weapons.
nigga check the keybindings holy shit
Low tech tends to be armor and ballistic focused, midline is... Midline. High tech is shields, energy and mobility.
if i'm not mistaken it also affects the pretty engine colors when you're flying with your fleet
mixed fleet master race high tech frigs low tech capitals midline destroyers and cruisers
Is it just me or are carrier fleets with torpedo bomber spam simply busted? The ai just stays back and gets picked off one by one
Where can I find more tempest ships? I want to go full gradius
CR taking a shit during the engagement is annoying
Perseus sells them
those are a tri tech thing mostly, unless you find the high tech general blue print and sell it to a heavy industry colony
ye
peak time should be little longer and cr degradation much slower(could be affected by damage)
Just like real life
I killed it back in 8.1 when it was still up, it's a barrage of bullets, missiles and craft that lags everything. I wish I had saved something but I'm a bit too lazy to install it again
What do I need? I already have 1 tachyon laser and 3 autopulse laser
Get a colony nigga, you can idle for 1-2 Million spacebucks daily by monopolizing the fuck out of Heavy Industry and Fuel Production.
Alright lads, give me the most anime ship mods can introduce
Dump that shit and buy falcon/grypho/mora instead. At least they are specialized at something, eagle are just overcompensated waste of deployment point
Is there a phase capital ship or is the Doom the largest phase ship possible? I want my fleet to be all ghost ships
you want x4 tachyons or plasma cannons or high intensity lasers before you can really use it in combat
>it's full of d-mods
>he hasn't found pristine capitals just floating around
Stop being a lucklet
depends. Interestellar imperium has the olympus with its capital sized missile, diable avionics goes full macross, neutrino has knife ships, approlight, is well, approlight. take your pick.
Burst PD lasers and something in medium mounts, graviton beams will do or ion if you're ready to switch them on/off depending on target state. 1 autopulse should be relatively easy to find and it works good with paragon.
Uninstall and purge Java. Then reinstall.
Who has the thickest beam/laser
>not using the jews' technology against them
Where can I find more of em?
also unrelated, why do all weapons have the "common" rarity?
approlight and neutrino.
Nigga you're running a warship. People are pushing themselves to the limit operating those battlestations. Even the metal itself will give after a time.
Although I envision a system where you have steady performance rate at which you can operate indefinitely, and could optionally set a higher rate for a bonus to shit like rate of fire and malfunctions, but only for a set amount of time, after which you get a malus of the same numerical value for a time until it returns to nominal. You could make the nominal rate so shit, people would pretty much be forced into using the bonus if you're worried about losing the tactical aspect of the CR system. Would probably be a bitch to balance, but it's another option in the rock paper scissors, with shit like pirates pumping themselves full of drugs and pushing their ships to the limit to operate like crazy for a short time, but eventually burning out and getting fucked unless they manage to pull out beforehand.
Actually it's reinhardt, Random commander dude from Front Mission 3, and Police girl / spy from Front Mission 3. Have that portrait pack too. Too bad there will never be another FM game.
Back on topic: What is the most cost effective carrier in regards to personnel, sup/month and price? Found a converted tanker from Diable Avionics and DME has another small carrier. Both have 2 carrier bays.
>mfw thirsty Cabal groups want my synchroton core and I wreck them with frigates, one cheap carrier and 6 shepherds
There are not. I'm not even aware of any in mods
I also want missile spam.
Foundation of Borken consists entirely of phase ships
tri tech and persian's will usually have high intensity lasers and plasma and more rarely tachyons somewhere but you need to join them to buy them from their military
for something more guaranteed you can hunt brilliant drone carriers which always have at least one large energy weapon equipped
Mayasuran Navy and Seeker both have a phase capital.
Oh neat, seems broken as fuck, but that's expected
use imperium and diable avionics. the olympus' missle can be instead a missle platform and diable is basically missiles all day long.
Go into settings and increase fleet/battle sizes
What systems have good black markets?
I want some low-tech goodness, like not-Dmod dominators.
Good job!
Is this game worth it? I've pirated it two times but gave up after 5-8 hours of play each time because I didn't really have the funds necessary for better ships, and I'd usually be destroyed in combats or run out of supplies/money to keep going.
Yes the price goes down when you sell items, the prices you see in the item's f1 tooltip market list are for selling a a few hundred (depends on the item), so if you sell less you get more money per item.
Is a single patrol HQ enough to keep a system relatively safe?
>Is this game worth it?
Yes.
Some pirate fleets are always hostile, specifically ambushes, but if the fleet itself says "neutral" then idk why.
Time to start a colony
So I should give it another chance then?
Managing resources in the early game is difficult if you don't know what you're doing. You're better off having a couple of good ships than lots of bad ones because of the way supplies get used in battles
Yes.
Dumbass question: For portrait mods, is it just to drag and drop the files?
No. Get heavy industry/orbital works and upgrade the Patrol HQ when you're able. It'll provide protection to the whole system, so you usually only need one upgraded hq per system. Also get orbital station and ground defenses, then upgrade those when you're able.
No, you need to add them to each .faction file as well. Download any portrait pack and see how they do it, it's simple enough.
No, it needs to be a 128x128 png, and you need to add them to the world via faction files, go dig into other portrait mods for an idea.
Oh right, I forgot, there's not much disadvantage to putting a patrol hq on every colony, but the upgraded ones require an industry slot, which is why you usually only have one.
But the portrait mods on the forum has already done this step, rite?
Sindria
i fucking hate this!
>destroy ship
>it becomes a wreckage
>the wreckage drifts in front of you preventing you from shooting the other ship
How do you get rid of the 'Cross-faction imports' penalty on Fleets once you start a colony up? I just started a colony up in Nexelerin and I noticed the penalty was really eating into my fleets. Is it going to be like that until I get Heavy Industry up and running?
Yes.
Starsector modder uses barebone classification that goes with: ... > dreadnought > mothership > titan > flagship > arkship
There is currently only one mod I know that has an arkship class ship which is crystanite and its not even playable on the recent version yet.
I on the other hand love it.
How long do distress callers stay alive, cause I need to go back to get some fuel, should only take 14 days.
Starsector or Kenshi as autism simulator?
>no spaceship sized insectoid enemies
ah well
>Kenshi
How is Kenshi? Wanna grab on sale atm.
Holy crap! Not a single D mod.
>start a colony
>go bankrupt because only now I realize there's no comms relay in the system and my fleet isn't mobile enough to search for the nearby pirate base
fuck
I'm looking to get one of the two, so I wouldn't know
Pretty shit honestly, Starsector is the much better game
Being a Legion is the D-mod
>playing early to mid game
>fleet has one cruiser and a couple small carriers and frigates
>im piloting a high tech sunder
>diable battlestation under attack from sindrian diktat
>fleet includes a victory class, a conquest and other assorted cruisers
>including a doom
>try to help the battlestation
>dont take losses but enemy isnt dying
>they are steadily moving forward
>order full retreat and decide to leave battlestation to its fate
>notice all the enemies are focused on the battlestation
>all ships have retreated by now
>decide fuck it and start flying back
>shoot doom up the ass and destroy it
>kill a couple of destroyers with their backs turned
>head behind the victory class and start ripping it up
>it tries turning around
>exposes itself to surviving guns on battlestation
>gets destroyed between me and the station
>proceed to destroy the conquest
>only trash destroyers left
>easily kill them
>the only thing worth salvaging is another sunder
in retrospect, it was worth it. fuck those lobster-hoarding niggers.
It's actually quite similar in tone to starsector. Slow paced, interesting but not entirely unique combat and fun, rewarding explorations with lots of new friends to meet. It's also a lot about money and managing your own settlement, getting hounded by assholes who have bigger settlements than you and kicking their ass.
On the other hand
>Produce 33% of fuel in the entire sector
>Dicktard also produce 33%
>Send agent to Ludd'd their fuel production
>I now control ~50% of fuel production in space
Yes.
Just wait for Kenshi 2 my friend
Well i guess i am getting jewragon and astral in my fleet.
>Paragon AND Doom
What have you got in your fleet to defeat that shit?
Can someone post the webm of that ship with the big dick hammer on it?
he is upgraded.
Seems like a kind of underwhelming reward for that tier of fleet
Is there any way to influence the fighters on your carriers other than pressing z?
It'd be a whole lot easier if I could tell all my daggers to nuke one ship
>no fun allowed
You might as well kill yourself already.
Just sayin
>me and my trusted mate just being shitty bounty hunters in our Hammerhead and Carrier
>bring on a new guy
>buy him a nice new Centurion
>he immediately gets killed by the redacted in our next fight
>only get one gamma core for the effort
Help I can't get better. My strategy of "get in it's face and unleash full dakka" had stopped working
>you must play the game how i tell you reee
DISTRESSNIGGA where are u?
These blue motherfuckers are on my ass.
In theory you can select an enemy ship and press S. that will eventually send all the fighters that are in range against said enemy.
Fleets sending distress signals are always at the inner-most jump point.
[[[They]]] send signals to lull you into the system
Is there anything I can edit to increase my fleet cap from 30 ships and the battle size from 500?
starsector folder, search settings, click the largest one, "maxbattlesize"
maxShipsInFleet and battlesize in starsector-core\data\config\settings.json.
Thank you very much guys
Wasting time doing a gigantic 6 day circle to avoid a little storm isn't my style.
that was easy.
It's like Starsector if the factions were even bigger assholes
>remnants paying bounties
WTF I LOVE [REDACTED] NOW ????]
These fucking losers got me outnumbered and got a battlestation nearby.
Just goes to show the innate aura a true star nigga has.
Still no sight of distress mang, just a lot of damaged derelicts flying around.
But ascendency "aren't" remnants. They are enslaved scientists and remnants.
What the hell, is that a mod or something?
>If you're using Active Gates, which you should be
Why? Are they that convenient? I can almost never find any outside of core or Remnant systems, which removes their value.
If you mean worth it as in worth a buy, then absolutely no.
>want to play
>keeps crashing on save (with about 10% chance it doesn't)
Anything here that might be causing it? Everything is up to date.
You're running the updated version of Nex that crashes when it detects a pirated copy
Block starsector.exe & the java runtime in your firewall
post peak performance.
Try disabling kadur remnant it was causing crashes for me the other day
with distress signals the event will be at the inner->outer->fringe jump point in that order and only if the closest jump point does not exist, if something is a gravity well only it doesn't count for this
2/3rd's of the time though a distress signal is a derelict ship surrounded by pirates or nothing at all
>when it detects a pirated copy
But my copy isn't pirated, bought this thing back in 2013.
Will try, if that doesn't work I guess I'll disable them all and turn them on one by one.
Wait a minute : does using Sseth's key actually work or is it just a trial version of the game?
Probably going to buy the game anyway but I just wanted to know
Kadur remnants had a brash error that was fixed on the same day. maybe its that.
i don't think that's a possible thing for a mod to do.
7/10 fleets too small
It does work, but you won't get future game updates with it. So, unlimited trial.
Why wouldn't you get future updates? Unless the dev disabled the key, it should work as if you owned the game
Pilliums will basically never hit the enemy, but they are excellent in that the AI tends to greatly overreact to them and will usually try their best to avoid them. Most ships will refuse to run into them so they are great for defensive play.
They will or already did blacklist the key, It won't affect current versions of it, but will lock you out of future ones.
Pink floyd paragon is best paragon.
Is this conjecture or can you actually back up your claims?
How's my fleet looking so far
Do yourself a favor and ditch combat freighters. They just do both jobs worse than dedicated ships. Save up for one atlas and one Prometheus
I actually think Mules are pretty good
And Apogee can kind of be considered a combat freighter
>capital ship
>safety override
Why do you lie user, caps cant use safety override
time for the real great debate
sunder or hammerhead
Any tips on kitting out the Imperium Battlestar?
It's a big brain play user, he's just trying to cover their side of the map in debris to get in the way of their guns when he calls in his actual fleet as reinforcements.
I like hammerheads. That one time I managed to do red planet quest, my only losses were 2 hammerheads, which I recovered afterwards.
Is there any way to un-disrupt buildings on colonies or do I just wait the half a year for all my shit to come back online?
Sunders for taking on larger ships
Hammerheads when it's early days and your fleet is destroyers at best
>do I just wait the half a year for all my shit to come back online?
this. also be sure to activate the "use stored supplies in case of disruption" that is on the top right of the colony management window. for some reason the colonies are idiots and refuse to use their stockpiled items they have unless they are ordered to do so.
Probably SCY's Nemean Lion. A row of spine-mounted large beams coupled with an armoured shell that closes down to give it good defense but prevent it from firing it's big guns sounds pretty anime.
Shitty google image because the codex doesn't show the armour plates and I don't wanna have to find one ingame just for a screenshot.
its ether l.industry or hq. And i am a big jew.
