>get monitor
>the ghosting it has feels like is giving me legitimate eye cancer
>still have it after 6 or so years
>get another free monitor
>it's even worse because it has ghosting AND fucked up brightness/contrast
What monitor do you have for your vidya games?
I wish I had a video showing this abomination, in Morrowind's darker areas the entire walls change color due to ghosting, it's fucking disgusting.
I don't even need any kind of 144hz/g-sync/freesync/HDR/4K or whatever the fuck memes, just a simple monitor without the ghosting bullshit
also, does an IPS panel even matter for vidya?
Get monitor
That picture is wholesome af
A decent ~$250 monitor will solve all your problems... probably. IPS doesn't really "matter" for anything, but the viewing angles and color are nice.
amazon.com
Buy this and hope it doesn't show up broken or with dead pixels.
Excellent monitor, people complaining about washed out colors are literal idiots who didn't change settings in the menu or want it at 100% backlight 100% brightness. Even if you're not gonna use the 165hz shit, it's about as good a monitor as you can actually find under $200 right now.
And be sceptical if you want, but 165hz is less of a meme gimmick than a curved screen is, and there are a SHITLOAD of curved 1080p screens under $200.
I'm telling ya, this is about the best option
damn, not sure where to find this in Europe, it isn't in any local stores and not in german or uk amazon
but yea the problem is I don't know which are decent and which aren't.
It's especially harder to find out if you're in yurop considering the lack of basically any mainstream monitor model you find reviews of online.
At this point I'm even surprised I found some of these Benq ones in local stores.
I think pic related was recommended as an intro 144Hz monitor, but considering I don't need 144Hz I could probably go even $50 bucks lower.
Although, honestly, I'm getting kinda curious about it now
>almost $400
alright nevermind, the search continues.
Also not gonna buy an Asus again, that's what the current POS' brand is and this other one I found recommended also has people complaining about ghosting
>b-but the monitor has to warm up for 2 hours!
>b-but it only ghostes on high refresh rates
god damn what a pile of garbage
Set the overdrive mode to “Standard” to reduce ghosting.
I have a Dell S2719DGF, which often goes on sale for $300 and is in fact on sale at Best Buy for that price right now. I think it's unbeatable for the price, 27" 1440p 144hz (155hz with overclock but I haven't had much luck with it), AND pretty great color gamut and accuracy for a TN on top of that.
it doesn't do jack shit, at least not on my model
it also resets every time you turn it off
this seems nice, it has freesync, right?
Also I keep reading about some banding issue, no idea what that is so I'm just gonna guess it's about incorrect color gradients being displayed. Do you notice anything major concerning that?
>just a simple monitor without the ghosting bullshit
No such thing unless it's called crt. Ghosting is an inherent property of how lcd monitors work, there's only ways of making it less noticeable, total removal can't be done.
Not that user, but the backlight(?) balance seems a little off, the top is darker than the bottom half at all angles, I only notice it on flat color backgrounds though. If you enable ˋlow response time modeˋ it ghosts really bad. Other than that it’s really nice, I don’t think I could go back to only 60hz
>zoomer sees souless world where electromagnetic frequencies give people diseases and make them braindead
>calls it wholesome
>I don't want ghosting
>I also don't need 144hz
I'm thirsty but I refuse water. That's you OP.
This would be as awful as VR, you have to keep moving your fucking head around to see things and get a stiff neck.
49" Sony X900F.
It was the smallest TV that had all the features I wanted. Good picture quality, VA panel, good HDR, good input lag/response time, 1080p and 1440p at 120hz, and most importantly 720hz PWM rate. Would've gone for an LG OLED but ABL is still too aggressive for PC usage. MicroLED can't come soon enough.
breh I've no idea what fixes/causes ghosting, I just mentioned that I don't need 144hz or any other extras because I don't care about it 'being smooth for muh vidya', but if it fixes that problem then I'll get it, no complaints there
I use an acer preddator z35p.
It has a weird interlacing glitch on the right side of the screen if you turn the green levels up enough, but thats only if you use the preset color settings on the OSD. Other than that it has ghosting but I hardly notice it so as it stands my experience with this monitor is almost eye sex.
What monitor are you using?
I don't know remember what the model is. I found plenty of complaining about it online, even has a video that shows how absurd it can get. General consensus was also that tinkering with overdrive in the service menu doesn't do jack shit.
>1080p and 1440p at 120hz
Haha nice try marketer, it only supports 60Hz video signal.
And there you have it, faster refresh rate fixes ghosting. It doesn't matter if you can't output 144fps with your PC, a 144Hz monitor is better than a 60Hz regardless.
>ghosting
What the fuck? I've bought cheap monitors since forever, but haven't had ghosting since my first LCD screen in the early 00's. Even then I used my CRT for gaming.
Cope harder.
rtings.com
Motion interpolation is not real 120hz, and nowhere on sony's official page do they state the monitor supporting 120hz which it does not.
Only niggers, children and retards play games on a television
Stay ignorant or keep pretending to be retarded all you want. Won't change the fact that it still works. Mid to high-end TVs have supported 1080p120 since 2017. Samsung and LG even released TVs with 4k120 this year.
>>get another free monitor
Give it back, Tyrone.
The ignoramus calls me ignorant. It's not real 120Hz like on a PC monitor, but you can keep eating the marketing all you want. You are getting 60Hz with that TV.
speaking of displays, I've had fucking horrible screen tearing in my browser (chrome) for a long time now. Doesn't matter if I enable desktop composition or whatever the built-in windows option is called, enable vsync in chrome, or whatever. Firefox was just as bad when I tried it. Very noticeable when scrolling or watching video. Games and mpc-hc work just fine. Anyone got any tips?
>thinks interpolation doubles the refresh rate
>"4k" instead of 2160p
You’re braindead.
The fuck is OP talking about? Is his eyes fucked?
>Literally says it has native support in the review, just force a custom resolution
>Do so, works flawlessly
>Even works with 120hz at ultrawide
>outdated retards get mad and think it isn't real
don't tell me you don't know what ghosting is
youtube.com
it might seem minor here (because it probably is) but my case is really fucked up
Then just say that instead of blubbering about interpolation being, like, totally lit, man.
Lookup how to disable hardware acceleration for Chrome. Videos used to tear so bad in a certain version for me that it was unwatchable until I found that. Maybe it'll work for you too.
>wholesome
fuck off back to wherever you came from thanks
this is what it looks like sometimes

Get on my lvl zoomies
seriously considering getting one again, I'm tired of dealing with this LCD bullshit
at least I'll have something to play my ps2 on, too
PS2 looks great on a crt, same as with most retro consoles. Just be careful when you're getting one because most are old as shit and can be faulty. (And it fucking sucks dragging one of these assholes from a seller to your house only to find out it has a defect you didn't notice before)
How do I get a decent PVM for under $100?
>sub 100$ pvm
Unless you want an 8 inch screen, you cant.
This is the first time I'm hearing about this issue. Then again I've only ever gotten Samsung and LG screens.
have the exact same problem with my cheap acer monitor
going back to asus or switching to dell after this
>ghosting on multiple monitors
try wearing your fucking glasses for once
they're both trash, but the other one was free so I won't complain about it too much
Literally the only way is to buy up broken ones and try to fix them up. Although I wouldn't recommend if you're not experienced.
ahh somebody photoshop a big bootied anime girl on his monitor
I walk past an old man almost every night and he's sat like a foot away from his 32 inch screen playing solitaire
>does an IPS panel even matter for vidya?
Absolutely. Especially if you watch TV/movies on your monitor.
>6 or so years
you’re retarded.
why? Because I didn't buy another monitor after not being able to return this piece of shit?
Ghosting is not a valid reason to return the product, it's working as intended
ViewSonic xg2401
VA panels are a meme, regardless of brand.
>having 1 monitor
