Why has playstation been so fucking bad lately? The PS4 is literally their worst console ever

It was the cheapest multiplat box at launch and microsoft committed sudoku at the xbone launch, that's why it sold. For it's first 3 years on the market its only real exclusive was Bloodborne which is nowhere near as popular with the general public as Yea Forums would lead you to believe

I thought the PS3 was worse, desu. At least the PS4 had Bloodborne as an exclusive, and a couple other decent Japanese multiplats. 7th gen was mostly endless CoD and Gears clones. Both gens were shit overall though.

PS4 is unironically the best console to ever come out.

PS3 had Metal Gear Solid 4, Ni no Kuni and Demon Souls.
PS3 also had tons of extra bells, whistles and functions that were taken out of the PS4.
For example, you couldn't play music CDs on the PS4 and you cannot play PS1 and PS2 discs even when the PS4 is more than capable of playing them.
The PS4 was two steps forward and four steps back.

It will outsell the PS1 and Wii by this November if it hasn't already. Not a bad console. Quite impressive when you consider all those articles back in 2012 or 2013 saying consoles are dying out and the 8th console generation would he a flop. Sony has been killing it, but their exclusive library isn't necessarily that good.

I still use PS3 more than PS4, even to do things like watching Netflix, because PS4 runs like shit.

Also, PS4 will be the "console of disappointments" for me:
- FFXV
- The Last Guardian
- Kingdom Hearts 3
- Every cinematic Sony template game

Literally the only games I've really enjoyed are Nier Automata and Spiderman. 2 of fucking 20 games I've bought and played.

I have still to play Sekiro, so maybe that'll be 3 of 21, but I don't have time and have the case sitting on top of the console to remind me to play it.

It's a competent multiplat machine. Games usually run at a stable framerate and a high resolution. It's a lot better than last gen when AAA games would run at 640p 20-30fps.

The exclusive library is trash. Bloodborne is the only exemplary game, the rest are occasionally good but not so good that you'd be missing out if you skipped them.

The PS4 is literally the best console ever made. Beats every iteration and competitor. It has such a massive library. I literally just started picking up all the western exclusives like Horizon, God of War, and Spider Man, and they are fucking great. Spider Man is insane, and Horizon has an interesting concept with great gameplay. I don't really give a shit about the story too much, especially those 1 on 1 cutscenes. And I literally only played weebshit 99% of the time and I got to say I'm definitely not a full on weeb anymore.

it depends on the game. horizon has a beautiful open environment that makes you truly feel like you're in prehistoric era with futuristic tech. everything looks good. that is a plus. to say graphics don't matter at all is fucking retarded. stylistic graphics like persona 5 are amazing as well. but not everything has to be stylized. i don't play movies.

Graphics are good, sure, but I'm well past being dazzled by pretty pictures. Performance matters more, and I was disappointed that even on PS4 Pro there isn't a 60fps mode.
The core monster hunting gameplay is great, and the monster design makes it thoroughly rewarding to git gud but a lot of your actions (e.g. spear strikes) have way too much magnetism to them. Feels too scripted and unsatisfying to actually land one.
The stealth gameplay is also much too binary, it's comical how only the magic red grass can actually hide you even when you're up to your neck in other kinds of foliage.
I liked the story (what I played of it so far, I'm like 10 hours in) and the conversation choice system, but dialogue choices could be more frequent. The points where you're just walking around some abandoned ruin or the first cauldron and supposed to be impressed by muh grafix are tedious as well.

The game ain't a movie though. Only cunts who never played past the opening think that. When you're in the thick of it the game is mostly gameplay and the gameplay is worth it. It's like a 7/10 overall, worth the $15 you can pick it up for but it's definitely not worth buying a playstation for.

I have all three current gen consoles and a high end PC I use for video editing. Modern games are all graphics and no substance. Not a single game this generation has had outstanding gameplay

I wouldn't play it off like that. I like games that make me walk rather than run, to soak in the environment they created and I felt that with Horizon. Performance matters more than graphics and last I checked there was a performance mode that increases FPS which is what I use. The game runs really good with very small stutters but not often. I think the game does a great job in immersion which can't be done if this game had shitty environments.

Spear strikes are satisfying to me, especially when you land those critical blows. I don't understand this 'magnetism' term a few people have been using for certain games. I can't see a game like this not using an auto lock on feature. It's better that way since you can understand the maximum distances you can reach between you and a monster. This isn't Monster Hunter. The stealth is obviously pretty basic, but still satisfying. I don't play actual stealth games but I assume they were just going for the sneaky and strategic type of gameplay. The story can be good or bad for all I know. It's definitely a 7 though it seems. Spider Man on the other hand is a 9, but I don't think a console is worth buying for for just 1 game, in any situation. You have to like other games on the system or else you just really don't like games.

I seriously don't get people who say this. Cover shooters and CoD had a lot of exposure, I'll give you that. But, there were a lot of lesser known games to be found that went completely under the radar. You've been blindsided by AAA shooters to think that's all there is.

Personally, I just bought the PS4 because it was the most economical multiplat machine and I had an interest in playing both Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank. Bloodborne met my expectations, Ratchet was garbage, I don't really go out of my way to play other exclusives. Like I expected most of the games I ended up playing were multiplat.
