Just beat this game for the first time. Is it normal to feel slightly disappointed by it overall? It's a good game but I enjoyed the first 2 games way more.

I don't like all the "action" atmosphere in the city.
I liked the quiet ghost town that was set in Re2. Sure, 2 it had fire and cars and buildings destroyed but there wasn't a whole war going on between the police, army and umbrella mercenaries. I like the premise of a small town slowly and quietly getting fucked without all the fuzz from different defense corps.
Just a classic b-movie with a mystery to unravel was a way more comfy and fitting premise and it didn't had to led to a fucking atomic bomb in the end. I believe 3 should have had the same atmosphere from 2 but across the city. Maybe even Jill meeting with Leon instead of the umbrella security mercenaries which is a retarded idea itself.
Meeting with Leon and cleansing the town would have been a better premise, like it's hinted in his after credits screen.

No, RE3 was actually not intended as a mainline title but rather as a spin-off; but since Capcom had struck a deal with Sony about the Playstation getting 3 mainline RE games Resident Evil: Nemesis because Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

Pretty much, it's an enjoyable game but overall it's much more actiony than the horror atmosphere you have in the first two.
It's good but I'm always going to favor OG RE2

I can agree to this statement. However, Capcom would be foolish not to do ReMake 3, making that shit more spooky.

I'm pretty sure we're getting the RE3 REmake at one point or another, they can reuse plenty of assets from 2 and capitalize on the momentum built by it.
I wonder how will they implement the dodge move.

Despite it being a 'remake' it would still count as a major release for the Resident Evil IP, wouldn't it? There's a good chance they're just bidding their time to release it on next gen since it's right around the corner. No point in selling a game on hardware that is going to be replaced soon, strike instead on their new platform when its library is limited.

I liked it more than 2 but less than one. Nemesis is such an effective enemy/gimmick that he makes up for some of the lamer parts of the game (hospital sequence, most of the train fetch quest)

Nemesis is very well realized, it's amazing for how old the game is.
I love how you're given the choice to engage for exclusive goodies or to run away to save resources.

I honestly like it way more than 1-2.

2 is an aftermath of 3, and there is barely any town sections in 2. Yet you can still see barricades and shit.

Tbh I think RE2 with more town sections and the improvements RE3 brought would be the ultimate game.

Pretty much, yeah.

But lets not kid ourselves: the cops and UC desperately ripping away at zombie hordes was badass as fuck.

Nah that's pretty much how I felt when I played it all those years ago. Like it wasn't bad or anything but just felt like the other games had more effort put into it.

At least jill is a super duper qt badass

>You want STARS? I'll give you STARS

That line was so cheesy in the best way possible

Quick, lads. Favourite skin?

RE3 got me into horror games.I was 15 when it came out and german version was 16+ and they took that shit serious back then. Then one day I went to a Logibyte shop (RIP) and they had the british version which was age 15+. Guy at the counter sold it to me and I had a vlast playing it. I also felt pretty gangster, buying a banned game before it was banned (RE3 got banned in germany, well the nongerman version was, but the german version was censored as fuck, grey blood nd killed zombies popping out like old arcade games.)
I then went to rent RE2, which was already banned. Fell in love with it, its the one i replayed the most till today. Everytime I start Re2 i have to complete it, its just so perfect, you can feel evrryone was motivated as fuck to deliver after they scrapped 1.5

That was the last good RE game until 7 (numbered one anyway not counting Code Veronica)

>until 7
7 was crap, tho

It is normal. Despite the nostalgia for it these days, people really didn't like it upon release.
After 2, which literalyl everybody played, 3 just felt like a spin-off, that even flew under the weather somehow for many people.

But its not like anything besides 1R, 2/2R, 4 & 7 are worth playing anyway.

It's different. Feels way faster in tempo, gameplay/controls-wise its peak tank controls.
Nemesis is really fun and satisfying to kill. A lot of varied weapons.
A lot of replay value and god tier mercs mode.

How is this even a question?

>3 just felt like a spin-off
That's what it was before being refurbished as mainline, after all.

the streets of RE3 are infinitely more ghost town-like than 2
I swear, re2babbies are the worst

regina > miniskirt >= RE1 >>>>>>>>>>>> biker > disco

It feels like a retread of 2 in some ways. It even rehashes certain areas. But Nemesis is great and the choices are a decent novelty.

Wasn't Code Veronica originally RE3 before they had to change the names around to honour the deal?

it's what 2 should've been
also
>rehashes certain areas
is this like, a meme or something
do people think that, because it uses a fourth of the police station that it reuses a ton of assets or something

you JUST know

nemesis is weird in that its a more action oriented RE but made in the old style. fixed camera angles and tank controls etc. having dodges and an abundance of powerful weapons including the AR, and the repeated encounters with nemesis gives it a definite action vibe instead of a survival horror one. it was also the first RE game to have no choice of protagonist and the last proper classic RE game, which makes it feel different to RE1 and 2 in that way. it also feels like you spend a lot more time wandering around outdoors in the streets of raccoon city, which is a setting that has a lot of potential, but wasnt handled well enough in RE3 to give it the weighty atmosphere of the mansion or police station.

personally i've always thought of RE3 as having a distinctly spin off kind of feeling. its an "odd man out" in every aspect and compared to any other game or group of games in the series. it feels like a fan's attempt to show that the old RE format still had some life in it. or some die hard jill fan wanted her to not get relegated to B plot character so they made their own little story for her.

>including the AR

Don't play on easy mode bucko

never said i used it, just said its there. don't tell other people how to play a 20 year old game mate. thats pathetic. imagine gate keeping RE3 lol. curb your autism.

What if they made a Raccoon City RE that is open-world but not quite, as in you can traverse the city and the surrounding mountains, including the places from RE1 to 0.
I imagine it would be a ton of work since the maps would have to be like a maze to keep with classic RE's style.

>"waahhhh game is too actioney?? :(((((((" and writes a 1000 character long post about a game
>gets BTFO with a reply consisting out of five simple words
>"THATS PATHETIC, IMAGINE GATEKEEPING RE3 HAHAHA SO STUPID TO DISCUSS RE3 HAHA DONT TELL OTHERS HOW TO PLAY A GAME HAHA ITS NOT LIKE I HAD AN INFERIOR EXPERIENCE DUE TO PLAYING ON A SHITTY CASUAL MODE HAHA SHUT UP PATHETIC"

I actually would love them to expand on exploring Raccoon city. It's one of those things that i hoped for in the remake 2 but you only go through like two streets in the whole game.

I don't want anything dumb like open world but it'd be nice to have a dedicated city section that has a couple puzzles or something

you need to take your meds dude. what the fuck lol

i didnt design the game and the way i choose to play it doesnt change what it is.

>easy mode gives you an assault rifle and a bunch of shit that breaks the game and makes it easy as fuck
>"i-it doesn't change what it is!!!"

You are one 100% certifiable dumb ass nigger

you're worse than the smash fags that turn off everything that make the game what it is to have "fun". Weapons grade autism in this poster

yeah the whole "ghost town" aspect of it is really interesting and appealing but it think the size and scope of it in RE3 didnt do it justice. the hardware just wasnt there at the time i guess.

give your bell a ring there mate. mommy will come. she must have just forgot your meds

It's my favorite RE game, I really like Nemesis and the UBCS. I'm really excited yet nervous to see what they're going to do with the remake. I'm hoping at the very least they let us save Brad because I always wanted to.

I don't think you have to be considered schizoanon or a gatekeeper when you tell people to only play 'Hard mode', which is essentially just normal mode. Easy is broken as fuck and deprives you of styling on BOWniggers with the STI Eagle and Mine Thrower, which are fun as fuck. I only just realized playing this year that if you apply the infinite ammo drop you get after defeating Nemesis for like the 7th or 8th time, you get special ammo for the Mine Thrower. It's fun as fuck

The way he speaks is what makes him a schizo. If he wasn't autistically screeching people would be much more receptive.

This isn't reddit you nigger faggot, don't expect people do sugarcoat objective facts for you just so you can handle them because your le feelerinos got le downvote hurt.

>We should all be super autistic to cater to jaded cunts.

I don't browse reddit but your obsession with the site is telling so i suggest you fuck off back there :))))

>I don't browse reddit
>:))))

Dude just quit, this isn't for you.

I'm dumbing down my posts for your benefit :L

>game feels like being a dick and spawns Hunters at every possible location they can appear in

Jesus Christ, I’ll play RE1 if I want this shit.

dialate.

My disappointment with the game comes from the fact that it has only one story campaign. Otherwise, still one of the best games in the series.

No, the game with Hunk that got canceled was supposed to be the "true" RE3. Cringe Veronica was never intended to be a numbered game.
