Name one modern rpg that does
FF14
Every game should have Blue Mages.
i wish real life didn't
Best class system coming through.
sucks
no
Octopath
prepare for a life of wagie
>9 year old MMO
yikes
Doesnt matter, you asked for one, i named one
Is that the GBA version? That one has extra jobs right?
I don't remember paladin
Which version is that?
What if I make NEET Simulator?
it's either a shop or a romhack.
Your life should get a job system.
What if you made a neat simulator?
Real life.

MGQ Paradox
Any game where it has numbers and doesn't rely purely on skill can be cheesed. It's unavoidable, because there will always be a dominant strategy that will always be the best choice to pick.
How modern is "modern?" Do Bravely Default/Second and Dragon Quest 9 count?
funny enough this system doesn't exist in op's life
It exists, he just doesn't use it.
Even tetris?
I don't like heavy multiclassing and job swapping, it makes the characters feel less unique and have less of a personality because we define ourselves so much by our roles in society. I like games with tons of classes to choose from though, I just want the game to make you stick with it.
Dungeon Fighter Online
WoW Classic
Bravely Third when it gets announced later this year
>I just want the game to make you stick with it.
That's just a regular class system then.
Jrpgs were a mistake.
kek
What's the best version of a job system?
>Learning jobs to mix with other jobs
>Learning jobs to build up a base job
>Learning jobs to unlock better jobs
All job systems are shit if the characters don't change outfits to match though.
Octopath Traveler
Bravely Default and Second
FFX-2
There's a hack for FFV that makes it so each character is locked out of jobs unfitting for their character.
I like DQ3 system the best. It's simple, but effective.
And I should get a titjob
>I'm a Fighter, but I decided to become a Wizard and now I'm a wimpy nerd. Time to grind to max level then change to that Ninja job!
Job systems are fucking retarded, mate.
Link? Sounds like a good excuse to replay
>game has lots of different jobs
>a few of them are a obviously a lot better than the rest
>feel like you're punishing yourself if you're trying to use one of the bad jobs
Fire Emblem Three Houses feels that way to me.
You're supposed to HAVE FUN playing a game; don't make it a job.
real life has a job system and you never used it so don't pretend it interest you in games, fagot
>All those people shitting on FF's job system
Ok, challenge time :
You are allowed TWO minor/medium changes to make it better (still need to stay something that can be called a job system).
Wannabe game designers, go.
I should've said, it does a lot more than that, and I haven't tried it my self so I don't know if it's good. I just know that was one way someone's gotten around homogenization between characters.
romhacking.net
Examples given are
>Bartz is too clumsy to be a Chemist, and is too afraid of heights to be a Dragoon
>Lenna is too much of a spoiled princess to be a thief, too kind hearted to be a Berserker
>Galuf's amnesia keeps him from remembering how to cast spells
>Faris as a pirate doesn't make sense as a self-sacrificing knight
Every job should have a game system.
My problem with job system is on a fundamental level more than anything. I'm not a fan of most class systems in general.
>Every game should have a job system.
What? I could understand an argument that all RPGs should have a job system, but there's many games that work well without progression. So why would they need a specific system for progression?
100% yes.
I adore blue mage. FFXI bluemage was one of my favorite gaming experiences. Just traveling around a huge world learning spells from obscure shit.
>I could understand an argument that all RPGs should have a job system
I don't. Why should every RPG ever have some dumbfuck "durr I quit being a Warrior time to be a sneaky Thief!!!" bullshit?
It basically boils down to "it's an intuitive way to add a good amount of depth".
You don't need a game that's about changing your class/job constantly to have depth. Skills more than make up for that.
Definitely not. Probably an SNES romhack.
>"durr I quit being a Warrior time to be a sneaky Thief!!!" bullshit?
Through the power of your own self control you can in fact NOT have that scenario occur in your save of any game with a job system. Assign characters to be specific roles or archtypes and play the game that way. The game would be more enjoyablein my opinion because it would have an extra layer of party customization.
This a mod? I don't recall V ever having a Paladin job.
Also mysticknight/spellblade bros, where we at?
woah, neat. FFV is my all time favourite, so I'll try this one day
That shit was too tight in Bravely Default. Slapping drain on my sword as a dark knight was sick.
I don't know why they even bothered to port DQVI
>DQ6 on SNES looks 10/10 on SNES
>Has the best animations
>Breathtaking locations
>Interesting lore and story
>Game is so good that the next game basically copies it, makes it objectively worse, and pads it out to 120 hours yet is somehow liked more
>Ruin it by porting it to a system that looks worse than the GBA and has two micro screens
>DQ translators notoriously bad
DQ6 is my favorite DQ game and I can't play it on DS having played the fan translated version. Why do people overlook it so often? Why did it get such treatment?
>Through the power of your own self control you can in fact NOT have that scenario occur in your save of any game with a job system.
No you can't. The moment you change job, the moment your character's identity changes. I prefer a system where classes are meant to represent a way of life, rather than mixing and matching flavors together to see what works.
is OP void divergence? i dont remember a paladin class
The only other way to play it in English was piracy, which is money they wouldn't be making. That's why they ported it. Damn shame it's overlooked so much though. It's absolutely one of the best in the series.
The one in X-2
But you can do that, just only allow characters to use classes that fall in line with their character. No one is forcing you to make everyone jack of all trades with mix-matched shit from all sorts of different classes.
I didn't say you needed it, and I wasn't advocating that position. I'm just saying I understand how someone could make the argument that it would be a good thing for all games to have.
I just mean that it's a bad port imo. Same with a game like Persona 3. Comparing the PSP port to Persona 4 Golden or even the FES version, it's just insulting. Every time I see the translations for the DQ games I feel like this could happen to any game series I like and they'd be actively ruined by people out of touch that don't understand why I like these games DQ builders features all kinds of slang. Things like "Yolo". I think I saw "Yeet" in there, but if not it wouldn't be out of place.
Oh yeah, I know what you mean now. Yeah they should get a better translation team.
FF's XI, XII Zodiac, XIV
DQ not sure if VI counts as recent but VII and IX do
Dragon's Dogma
Blue Dragon
Legend of Grimrock I & II
Might and Magic X
Both Bravely games, as well as 4 Heroes
Essentially every Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics including the modern ones. Shit, most SRPGs have deep job systems.
