Since yakuza 0 was already going to be localized regardless of 5's reception, there is some retarded alternate universe where the fans begging for 5's localization didn't work and they skipped to 0 and every other ps4 game.

So is 3 good or not? I've played 4 and 5 but skipped this one.

It's good but slower-paced than other entries, don't let any ADD zoomers come in and tell you it's bad because they got pleb filtered by the orphanage bits.

The opening third is amazing.
Kiryu is given actual free time to live his life for a while, and you do mundane slice of life stuff for several hours.
It's something I've wished for in other games before (what if Link didn't have a quest and just did odd jobs, stuff like that).

Maybe I just have high standards in storytelling, but honestly all the Yakuza stories strike me as melodramatic trash (although I enjoy that about them), and it's hard for me to differentiate certain entries' stories as more trash than the others. Even 0 was difficult for me to take seriously for most of it, and it's by far the most grounded story in the series.

Just give me official English subs on kenzan and ishin.

I loved 3. You could feel that they havent tapped in ps3 power or just didnt have much time, but I enjoyed its setting, story and characters

It's a matter of context I think?
I played 1 and 2 when they were still relatively new games, before 3 came out in English, and people viewed them as really amazing stories at the time.
I guess video games stories have come a long way since then, but also Yakuza's have gotten demonstrably worse (with 0 being an exception).
