Incorrect

FUCK YOU

Probably, simply on the basis that whatever hl3 ends up being it will never feed whatever hyped and expectations have been built up until today. But portal 3 would be a more "oh wow, that's cool, will probably be great"

no

And Left 4 Dead 3 would trounce them all

You know what would be better? If they were the same game

I want to lick her kernel.

ratman portal 3, yes or no? Mechanics involving his schizophrenia and having to find medication (not a time limit thing, more "you need to be lucid to solve a puzzle")

I know it'll never happen, but I got no other ideas

There will be an Orange Box 2. It will be called Orange Box: Cubed. It will contain TF3, Portal 3, dota 3, L4D3, and Half Life 3.

Nope
Based

That would be cute.

You're cute.

either or Gordon Freeman working with Chell for something

This

Portal 2 had a perfect ending, it doesn't hurt like Epistle 3 did.

same game
also,

Half-Life 3 was never promised or announced and should therefore be just as a surprise as a Portal 3.

It's Half-Life 2: Episode Three that was promised and never delivered. Fuck Valve.

I disagree, but Portal 2 was probably the most advanced and refined example of the Valve-style first person action game. It was like a culmination of everything they had learned developing HL2 and its expansions. This is the biggest tragedy of Valve's move away from games development; they basically had it down to a science - teaching the player game mechanics through experimentation, environmental storytelling, synthesis between music and gameplay, god-tier sound design and art direction. They had so much talent on payroll, and have basically thrown it all away.

Funny thing is that Portal 2's writer Eric Wolpaw was supposed to be Marc Laidlaw's successor. After Half-Life 2 Episode Three finished up Laidlaw's story arc, Wolpaw would have taken up the reins for Half-Life 3.

I remember Gaben specifically saying they won't be working on any sequel (HL, L4D, Portal, TF etc.) until they develop Source Engine 3
If that can be interpreted as "promising" a sequel is up to debate

Very true.
It's impossible for HL3 to live up to the hype. Gabe insists that it has to reinvent FPS, which is basically impossible.
Whereas Portal 3 could basically be 2 but with new mechanics/content and the majority of people would be happy.

In a best case scenario, absolutely not, HL3 would blow everything out of the water.

Realistically though, yes pretty much, there is zero chance of HL3 living up to even a fraction of the hype and anticipation, it is better that it never gets released at all as at this point nothing good can come out of it.

Didn't he say the same thing about Source 2, but the only game that ended up being made for that were Dota 2 and Artifact?

I mean he should have; he's a fucking great writer.

Wasn't CS:GO moved to Source 2?

Portle 2 ended on a nice note. What lose ends do they need to tie?

>Laidlaw never got to finish his vision for Half-Life 2
>Wolpaw never got to write Half-Life 3
Why

I'm pretty sure GO is still based on Source 2013.

Why did the Combine never break into the Aperture complex when they were looking for the Borealis? It was a publicly known place just like Black Mesa and unlike Black Mesa wasn't a smouldering crater. Common sense would dictate to look for where the borealis came from to find either accurate whereabouts or the schematics to build whatever made the ship teleport.

Do they need to tie anything?
We could just get some prequel or something.
Maybe following the journey of the Rattman somehow

Wolpaw is back at Valve

user, the point he's making is that Portal generally does not have loose ends that need tying.
Whereas Half-Life ABSOLUTELY FUCKING DOES

False. It had a release date. Christmas 2007.

Only Dota 2 was

L4D is one of the overrated mediocre garbage series I've ever played

Face it user, valve as a game developer is dead. The source 2 engine will never live up to the reputation of the original source and valve has yet to prove it can count to three.

Agreed. Some scenarios I like and the characters are cool but god all the guns feel the same.
