The whole first trial is also Kaede trying to shift shit around (letting people blame Gonta, etc.) until her husbando starts getting blamed, and even then, she makes Shuichi figure it out. Although yeah, she probably would have just given herself up if they were about to reach the wrong conclusion, so I don't know, it's iffy.

The elevator scene was Kaede saying farewell to Shuichi, she knew she fucked up.
She also tried to find out the mastermind in the trial before she got axed, but Kaede is the one that encourages Shuichi to accuse her when that doesn't work out.

Teruteru is the most sympathetic murderer in the game. He was worried about his sick mom and that takes more importance over 15 literally whos he’s known for 2 days. Nagito’s plan was an open and easy way for him to do this. Compare that to
