That would require HAL to shell out big dollars for it instead of rehashing Return to Super Star over and over.

Yep. People will also defend Kirby until the end of time even if it never changes or innovates. Sad.

The whole point of Kirby is to be a simple game that even 5yos can pick up.

Until they added copy abilities. After that Sakurai wanted to make the series more complex and challenging.

>Sakurai wanted to make the series more complex and challenging.
Ironic considering he regressed Kirby's character and only made a handful of the character's games.

I feel like a 3d game may happen soon, until then, uh... I actually don’t know, just talk about kirby stuff in this kirby thread

I imagine HAL hasn't figured out how to adapt Kirby's flying into 3D level design yet.

They've completely forgotten Kirby Air Ride haven't they?

Give it a stamina meter. Wow, that was hard.

>Until they added copy abilities.
???
What are you talking about? Copy abilities has been around since the first game.
Anyways, Sakurai said he wanted to design a game and characters so simple that it would appeal to 5yos, and this design idea has been rooted in the kirby series ever since. It's not going to change because it would go against Sakurai's philosophy about the series.

That's right, Kirby games will never grow so complex that it would confuse a 5yo. So, hoping otherwise just means you misunderstand Sakurai's intention for the series.

People would eat sakurai's shit if he offered it I swear to christ.

how often did you actually move around as kirby aside from when your ride gets totaled or if you're jumping off and getting onto a different one?
Kirby platforming wouldn't really translate well to 3d anyway, it'd need to be a character-action game or collection-focused game to engage the player in a meaningful way rather than just floating over any obstacles and threats or exclusively designing claustrophobic low-ceiling areas to force the player to actually stay near the ground.

Shimomura did that already.
Oops.

>What are you talking about? Copy abilities has been around since the first game.
Since the second game.
>Anyways, Sakurai said he wanted to design a game and characters so simple that it would appeal to 5yos
The first game only. Then in the second and third games, he wanted them to be easy to approach, but offer more challenge and complexity throughout.

No, they've already solved that by limiting Kirby's flight.
A few games already do that.
I think their biggest hurdle is how to translate old copy abilities into 3D. Have you ever played Kirby Battle Royale? A lot of the abilities felt awful and extremely limited compared to the vast movepools of other modern Kirby games.

>Copy abilities has been around since the first game.
Did you actually play the first game? Because they definitely didn't exist there.

Okay.

>Kirby platforming wouldn't really translate well to 3d anyway
Of course it would you moron. All you need is good level design.

Well, they tried, and they failed.

Do you really think Kirby's Adventure was the first game in the series

Damn, that's some nice artwork. Thanks OP.

They're still trying with 3D if Star Allies's world maps and final boss are any indication.

I don't know if you can consider that a genuine attempt.

Also don't forget about Kirby's Blowjob Blast or whatever they called it. That was really fun.

Anyone who likes Kirby still sits at the kid's table

>Kirby will never have a big, imaginative 3D adventure game
HAL is very clearly trying to bring Kirby into 3D
>Blowout Blast
>Star Allies overworlds
>Void Termina fight
Considering they're apparently entering a "new era" of Kirby after Star Allies, I think the series is going to go 3D finally

Kirby pretty much already is a 2D character action game at this point so just hand it over to platinum and let them go crazy with it

the platforming between mario 64 and its predecessors aren't really comparable in the slightest aside from the general concept of jumping and stomping. aside from that, it's an entirely different style of platforming that doesn't necessarily translate 1:1
even to this day, the NSMB games fundamentally play differently from the 3d mario games through the different tools that they provide players to traverse their stages and the different level design ethos that goes into designing a 3d obstacle course instead of a 2d one.
having good level design alone doesn't save the game from needing to find a way to translate its core mechanics into a different dimension

The best DK game is tropic freeze some games should stay 2d nigger

It was pretty cool, I personally think that we’re bound to get a 3d kirby game soon because of blowout blast and battle royale. I also think that the director said that after star allies, they’re heading into the next phase of kirby, whatever that means, and whatever it means has me excited. I just personally hope that they make better use of their characters.

those other characters won't have a game as good as super star.

I think we should get a kirby warriors game.

>having good level design alone doesn't save the game from needing to find a way to translate its core mechanics into a different dimension
Well that's obviously the first step.

It's good, but not the best. It has the indulgence problem that most Nintendo games have now and coming off Rare's DK games, it's lacking in many areas.

how? The rare game was an absolute chore

The only Rare DK I'd concede as better than Tropical Freeze is 2. TP blows 1 and 3 out of the water.

>I think we should get a kirby warriors game.
This

"and even donkey kong" Dk will always be more relevant than that generic pink puff.

press D to dab on the seething dk trannies.

And that's a good fucking thing.

>What are you talking about? Copy abilities has been around since the first game.
Please kill yourself.

Rare would add a good amount of Animal Buddies each game with some favorites/recurring buddies and each game had a distinct look/feel/atmosphere/gimmick/etc. Retro DK has only Rambi, Squacks and the minecart/barrelrocket stages and all they did for the sequel was add a heart to the latter stages. There was also a nice supporting cast that's more or less in limbo. You're not likely to see Candy Kong again and the other Kongs are also dead in the water too.

Next DK title, if it happens within the rest of the Switch's lifetime needs to go further than slightly optimizing the first game. And if they must make a new enemy group, don't have them as retreads of the Tikis/Snomads. Or just use the fucking Kremlings.

fixed

t. Sakuraikirbyfag

I just don't like DeviantArt OCs. Galacta Knight sucks too.

I remember just dicking around with my brother in air ride jumping off the stars and just roaming city trial and see to all the places we could get to with just on foot movement. If they just made that the game and made him move a bit faster, I think it would be good

You're cute.

i can tell you're a seething smashfag because they're the only ones who get triggered by the mere existence of bandana dee.

Isn't every other kirby game an experimental game though? I mean, yeah, they rehash the same shit a lot, but they also do random shit just to see what happens.

Maybe in the 90s, but they don't do anything different anymore unless it's a really low-concept spin-off.

HAL should make Wario games that act as more complex and harder Kirby games. Wario already has similar attributes to Kirby.

Attached: 250px-Wario.png (250x300, 89K)

>tilt and tumble - 2001
>air ride - 2004
>canvas curse - 2005
>mass attack - 2011
>blowout blast - 2017

And that's not including amazing mirror or epic yarn, which I'm sure you'd say was too similar.

This is a good option. On the other hand we may end up with LOL BRAPZ Wario and not the superior Shake It! Wario.

>all spin-offs
Bummer.
>epic yarn, which I'm sure you'd say was too similar
Don't be so sure.
