It's been a few months since i've seen this one for the first time and I still wish Byleth had that face. The eyes are better, unlike the soulless thing that they have going for every character's eyes in 3H and the purple works better than the whole eyes-are-same-color-as-hair trope that's been going on since forever. Genealogy introduced eugenics but the reason why it didn’t come across as a dating sim like the newer games is because you could not choose Sigurd’s waifu. I know this might come across as old = good, new = bad, but pairing up your army feels a lot different than pairing up a self-insert character. The later makes me feel like I’m a lonely falling in love with video game characters, the former makes me feel like I’m a chocobo breeder or something.

I Don't care for the self insert characters. Echos was my introduction to the series (yeah, late to the party I know) and I loved the feel of watching an epic story play out with each member being fully fleshed out and well written.
Self insert avatar characters feel weir in all the games except 3 houses. Something about using the persona system and the only choice for your character being boy or girl version makes it work, but still not as good as multiple view point switching path game play.

That's not the point. Halo threads are able to stand on their own two feet based on gameplay, story, soundtrack, and atmosphere. I adore Shadow Dragon, both its art and the game itself. I’m a sucker for unique art styles - art that stands out and is instantly recognizable, and SD with its thick lines is both visually interesting and it fits the atmosphere of the game well. Plus the combat is almost a carbon copy of the gba games, which is to say it’s some of my favorite in the series. Plus, and this is HUGE, no worthless support bullshit or excessive dialogue and cutscenes, Just pure gameplay and a tight, succinct script. I will recommend the game wholeheartedly until I die.

The game gives you three cavaliers from the very beginning - they're all great, and their movement is broken. I think it's like 9 or something. Caeda is also godlike with her speed and wing spear. Almost every single FE ever made starts you off with some of the best units, and SD is no exception.
As for killing characters, follow a guide for that shit. It'll go more in depth than I could ever hope to accomplish.

Dawn Brigade units are lowkey amazing. It’s just when you compare them to the Greil Mercenaries, who arrive great out of the box, you need to feed the brigade units exp, and they won’t shine until the endgame. Doesn’t make them bad units, but when you’ve got a game with Haar who can solo most maps, yeah they don’t look so great.
