I dunno, there are some smartass options you can pick that make it seem like they're at least reacting to you instead of you being a yes man. For instance I took every opportunity to tease Lysithea about ghosts.

For 100%, but you can get it to around 50% easy if the other two stats are good. You get like 4 tries before the next story map, so it's really easy to make it.

Hey is it worth it to sidetrack people into the Brigand class for that absurd skill you get for mastering the class? Obviously casters and healers can go mage, but Brigand seems like it would be valuable for almost everyone in the game.

This game gives way too much freedom and it sort of detracts from the experience. Units loses their uniqueness when anyone can do anything. My Ashe is an archer but he could have been a swordsman, a mage, anything. My Byleth is primarily a swordsman, but he can also heal. Almost all master classes are mounted, and most can heal or use magic. I miss when everyone was special and unique in their own way because it added to the strategic gameplay.

The only way to grow armor, mounted, or flying is to either change their goals and teach them - which is explicitly not allowed in a no teach run which I am discussing - have them already be a class of that type and enter combat, or have them start already interested in that subject. There is no way to remove self study, so their only growths are either what they get from combat or what they get from self-study. Some people argue over whether changing goals is allowed if the student requests it, but personally that shit is a big bag of RNG so I deny every request. Other than that, never set a task, end every teaching session without using any charges, and never use the choir or training facilities.

I like how every single problem in the game can be traced back to Edelgard and the writing goes out of its way to show that she does not have a single good or sympathetic point. Dimitri went through far, far worse than she did, and he turns out to be a good person and wise king in the end. Rhea is shown to have brought peace and prosperity to Fodlan for thousands of years and is not the crazed templar that Edelgard thinks she is. She also went through far worse than Edelgard, but she tries to be a better person from it. All of the other sides are peaceful and benevolent. Sure, they have their problems, but they're trying to get better, and all of them achieve reforms that uplift the population without warfare or conquest in their ends. Only the Empire, under Edelgard, is completely evil and wrong on every single point imaginable. The church is not evil, crests don't cause inequality, the problems facing Fodlan are nowhere near as dire as Edelgard makes it out to be, and throwing away peace like the Empire did to massacre something like 50% of the continents population is like shooting a kid because it wouldn't shut up. Edelgard was looking for a problem where there was none, and murdering tons of innocents to correct these imaginary problems. She can't even claim to be misguided, as she's called out multiple times on this by Dimitri and Claude in a measured and rational way, but her egotism and selfish drive for greatness compels her to shoot them down. Even when offered redemption, all she does is use her opponent's mercy to treacherously backstab them. Edelgard is without a doubt the most evil and disgusting Fire Emblem antagonist in the whole franchise.

War master is broken in general but its not like its the only way to make fists work and theyre shit without it, its just 20 free crit which is nuts with anything. Fistfaire is nice but anyone who has used catherine can attest that it's not like you actually need it, when good base STR and 4x attacks is lethal on everything anyway.

She doesn't suicide if you don't recruit her. She shows up in a timeskip battle as reinforcements if it goes on long enough.

The less characters in a game, the better.
Not only does it actually make you strategize far more, it allows the story to have far more focus on the small cast. The maount of battle dialogue in this game is fucking fantastic.

Hand axe for enemy phase, gauntlets for player. Dedue and Raphael at least are both tanky so it works well

Edelgard is just another one dimensional 'kill em all' villian masquerading as a generic "Morally gray" anti-hero that is a dime a dozen in entertainment these days. Game of Thrones alone is loaded with them. There is nothing unique or compelling about a Hero who is actually the villain. It's been done countless times before but everyone is acting like Edelgard is the first. All the other lords in the series are far better written in terms of quality and characterization. Even Ike is better written. It really takes work to make a more sloppily written character than Ike. It's really sad to see the series go from deep, fleshed out, emotional, human like lords(except Ike) to a sloppily written one dimensional plot twist disguised as a character. Clearly Edgelord's route was hastily shoved in to cash in on the trendy dark edge fad that plagues entertainment today. She should have just remained the villain and unplayable/unsidable with.

Ingrid and petra are untouchable in every class, not because people tend to make them peg knights. Try to do the same with, say, marianne or manuela and you'll find out the class limitations. By comparison, even hanneman can carry as warmaster.

The limited units per mission is pretty annoying at times, especially when it was a paralogue mission that had 1-2 locked slots. I made the mistake of recruiting everyone that I possibly could in ng+ for the paralogue mission and noticed that more than half the party were embarrassingly left behinds like 15+ levels, they were only useful as adjutants.

I dont have the screenshot but i remember seeing the party select with all the characters and it just looked bloated as fuck, filked with literal whos and the unrelated. It's like they thought people would just like more even if it's half ass so why not?

The game did a hilariously bad job of trying to make the Church look evil, like 90% of the time the Church did something bad, it was always in response to something either Edelgard or the Slitherers did to make them look bad.

And the best thing is CHRISTOPHE WAS A TERRORIST so their execution of him was completely justified, and they kept that a secret not to incriminate the rest of his family.

How cool would it have been if the Monastery ACTUALLY got destroyed during the timeskip, and after your reunion there your base of operations was a field camp that changed locations throughout the rest of the game? They could still allow you some limited instruction of you and your students if there's a particular build that you wanted to finish off, but compact everything down to a smaller camp and remove the superfluous stuff. Plus the changing locales would help provide a sense of progression each month.

Hell, they could have probably did this without even needing to make many additional assets. A lot of the maps in game have areas outside of the playable area where you could put a field camp after each chapter.
