PPSSPP is stupid simple, user. But yes. The PSP is the only version atm of Re:Digitize in english. The work is still going on for the 3DS version, but the translators eyes are slowly failing and it's harder and harder for him to work on it. Once you get over the novelty at the existence of a dark kid's show, there's not much left to enjoy.

I played the Digimon 3 game for PS1, is unironically one of the games Ive enjoyed the most. BUT, after literally hours of playtime my memory card corrupted and I lost everything. I had three times all OP as fucked, I had grinded a lot, etc.

I made no such statement, however I would argue that this is the case for a show like Tamers in which there is a considerable amount of focus on the actual plot. I don't know, but if you want to play this dumbass game, I can turn this on its head and say that characterization isn't important to Tamers because every episode has a battle in it and apparently that's the focus and supersedes everything else.

And maybe this would have worked if they approached it from a v-pet angle, but they didn't. All mythology and legends in our world about angels, dragons and demons and the like are actually all based on encounters people had with digimon in the past be it through some freak accidents or occultic rituals.

That's a different point than the one I was making, and while true, there is very good reason that the anime stopped involving the human world so much after Tamers. It's just not what anyone's there to see.

Adventure's digital world works precisely because it's underdeveloped as a setting. It never reveals its own mystery, so not only can it continue to capture your imagination throughout the show, it also gives the writers free license to come up with whatever weird shit they want and have it fit in. And seeing all of that was the best part of Adventure, because it was the part that made it stand out. You can get sappy character drama from dozens upon dozens of other shows, but the digital world is unique to Adventure.

I've never played Rumble Arena 2 but damn I was mad with the roster when I saw it, removing side digimon from 02 and Tamers in favor of having everyone from Adventure, bullshit.

Recolors in both series don't work the same, shiny pokemon are just a "rare" version of a monster, while in digimon most recolors are either a variation with different stats or a different species entirely. It's not like these 2 are the only series to use recolors in some way or another anyways.

No one was implying one was bad or worse than the other for using recolors just decided to play victim for some reason.

I mean, Digimon variants have always existed too, you have tons of different Greymon, Garurumon, Kabuterimon, Kuwagamon, Mamemon, etc.

with digimon is logical to have variants because data gets modified and/or corrupted, that's why we have a vaccine agumon and a virus agumon and sometimes get a different result like gabumon and psychemon. monster rancher got recolors but that's because they fuse and the dominant genes gets to preserve its form. monster hunter has recolors but are not considered the same but a variant of that monster based on, but still is reasonable since is expected a species can have different forms. i personally don't mind digimon having recolors, is just the excuse of a pokefag to bring up

Problem is that despite their being megas/ultimates for the other kids in almost each season (Though all Gomamon could turn into was an aquatic dinosaur or some tiny aquatic version of Angemon and Gatomon could only turn into an ugly version of the thing from Neverending Story), Toei wanted their to be a restriction on how powerful the groups could be so there could be actual challenge.

Pokemon also removes features with every new game for literally zero reason, too.

The idea was that some humans started the YMIR Project in an attempt to give Digimon actual lifespans and ages, letting them evolve like biological beings over time instead of by assimilating data. The project gets canned, but not before "Chrono Data" was created in the form of Chronomon Holy Mode. Some time later, Chronomon is forced to go insane and transforms into Destruction Mode then, when defeated by the protagonist in Digimon Story DS, the Chrono Core virus is born, a sentient virus with Project YMIR's capabilities of degrading data. The Chrono Core then goes off on a plot to degrade Yggdrasil to rewrite the Digital World, then we get the plot to Digimon Story Dawn/Dusk.

Would really depend on how long it'd have been since they were first introduced into the public. I'm sure that at the beginning both sides would probably be reasonably freaked out or against it, but they'd mellow out after a while.

What digimon games do you guys recommend? I've only played a bit of Digimon World 1 and most of 2 when I was a kid

Isn't the concept of digimon being known to the public already a thing in some of the games? Namely World 3 and the DS Story games.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for more monster-raising like World 1, you could try emulating Digimon World: Re-Digitized for the PSP, a remake of DW1, since it has a fan translation (or the 3DS port if you don't mind it being untranslated, since it has more content), or Digimon World: Next Order on PS4, which is essentially a 'sequel'.

If you're looking for more traditional RPGs, you could try out Digimon World Dawn/Dusk on the DS, although the encounter rate in that game is crazy aggressive to the point that some find it a chore to slog through, or you could wait for October for the Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition on Switch and PC.

I don't remember entirely how it works in World 3 off hand, but I know that the DS ones take place entirely in the Digital World, and the humans you encounter aren't part of the 'general public'.

DS Story games don't really bother to make sense. The real world is never even mentioned in them IIRC. In CS, people are aware of Digimon, but not as physical creatures. They're just thought of as emotionless programs
