If it's your primary console and you have a 4k HDR television absolutely. If you mainly play on PC and your screen is 1080p no.

Get the Pro, the base ps4 is insulting to look at.
I got a base and returned it within a week and got the pro instead.

Get the pro because you're guaranteed at least a 1080p60 experience.

Neither. Just wait a year for the PS5. It'll be better than both and have backward compatibility. Hell if you've waited this long one more year isn't going to kill you.

If you want a ps4 this year then get the pro, it's even more worth it during black friday sales. Otherwise wait next year for the ps5.

PS5 is out next year and it'll probably cost almost the same as the Pro and be able to play PS4 games too, so why buy that shit at this point? Shit cam e out in like 2016 you know. You waited 3 years already but now can't wait a few more months for the much better deal?

you're guaranteed 1080p but not 60fps since the Pro and base Ps4 both share the same bottleneck. The CPU.
Also the 4k on the Pro comes with its own issues since is mostly upscaled and in many cases it make everything look worse than just normal 1080p and on the Pro you can't choose your resolution. So you bought a Pro to play on a 1080p TV and what you get is a machine that upscales to 4k and then you tv downscales to 1080p and that is no good.

If you got the extra cash, go for it. It's got better loading times and it's got better overall performance for every game. If you got a 4k it's also worth the upscale.

If not, standard is fine. Spend the extra money on games.

if you're looking for graphics and resolution, buy an xbox one x, otherwise buy the standard ps4, it has games to keep you busy for a month or two if you never played any of it

Definitely the pro. Games that support the "boost mode" it has for 1080p are often boosted to a solid 60fps. MonHun and FFXV are insultingly bad on the base model (although XV is kinda shit anyway).

Its the uneven framepacing, it was the same issue in FFXV.

neither at this point, wait for a ps5 if you can hack waiting a year (shouldn't be that hard there's nothing coming out really besides death stranding). If you HAVE to get one though, pro. I think it's maybe $100 more than a base model, and every non-indie game (and a large number of indie games) since 2017 have support for the pro, be it better framerate or better res.
