Why is it so fucking hard to find a single new game that captures the atmosphere and writing of a game that was released 15 years ago?

Attached: WHY-complaints.png (569x629, 656K)

Triple A greed and T*dd

based
cringe

Hollywood is absolutely the most standout hub in the game, great atmosphere, great music, great characters, great quests

The boss fight against the chink is the worst boss I have ever experienced in a game. This is coming from someone that finished Drake of the 99 Dragons

Attached: 1362132938434.jpg (850x565, 66K)

I finished my nosferatu unarmed playthrough yesterday and Ming Xiao would have taken about 20min of constant attacking to go down.with 10 unarmed combat and level 5 potence.
This is assuming she doesn't burn through my blood packs first.
No shame in using console commands at that point.

the steyr aug made quick work of her

ass status = ate

I had never any problems with any of the bosses.
Fun fact: even with 0 poins in firearms (next to impossible since there multiple ways go get free points) the high tier fireamrs destory the bosses if you magdump into them.
There is quite literally no excuse to not have a large arsenal of death after reaching hollywood.

She's getting spectral knotted.

Attached: 2012-11-18_00013.jpg (1920x1080, 288K)

I actually had to go back to an earlier save and buy a flamethrower and a ton of guns from mercurio or someone else as I was an unarmed ventrue. game was rushed to hell so anything past downtown is pretty rough; chinatown in particular is awful.

Attached: 1558057272560.jpg (800x600, 159K)

Sucks that it has no option to lose masquerade for revealing the truth.

most games today are created with profit as their primary motive. that's why i cant get into zoomer tier shit like f2ps and overwatch.

it does, you dolt. i let her live and call the payphone in my first playthrough. i was penalised with a masquerade violation but i didnt care.

>capitalism BAD

I just wish there was a comfy haven in Hollywood (other than the warrens)

>hating on Chinatown

cuck

god, i would love to eat that ass until she was completely and utterly subservient to me

Downtown>Santa Monica > Hollywood >>>>>>> Chinatown

That was too sad :(

I agree

Chinatown was very clearly meant to be a much bigger part of the game. Shame. I liked the idea of foreign vampires that are nothing like American vampires

It's easy though, how can you be this bad+

Unironically this.

Chinatown = best aesthetic, best quests, FUCK ALL content
Santa Monica is overall the best. God, how this game took a shitty era and a shitty city and managed to make it ooze this much atmosphere I'll never know.

how can such a rundown place be so damn comfy to me?

the best.
i don't even really care about the actual mid-2000's but the nostalgia this game gives me is insane.

I played it this year and I felt like I went back in time.

cause it's full of SOUL

Santa Monica > Downtown > Hollywood > Chinatown

It sounds dour to say that the game gets progressively worse, because I do love a lot of the quests in Hollywood and Chinatown, but I think Santa Monica is easily the highlight of the game in how dense and interactive it feels.

The hospital by itself is probably my favorite area of the game because there are so many secrets to find and so many ways to get around it. You can sweet-talk the guards, skip dialogue and sneak through the vents, hack the computers, save Lily and Heather, learn about patients, blackmail someone based on what you found, etc. It was just a full and interesting environment.

Always wished that she had gotten a full questline.

It's small and safe, with distant sounding ambient city noise. There's nothing to do but chill out, check some mails and listen to Deb. I wish there were more havens.

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 12K)

I’d still put Chinatown on par with Downtown. The quality of the quests and story may have been better in Downtown, but the layout of that hub is “THAT level” caliber of being annoying to navigate. The streets are bland and the hotspots are too spread out. At least Chinatown is aesthetically pleasing and still makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a foreign, unwelcoming place.

Many people such as myself play games for the gameplay.

I hated Downtown because you walked A LOT for nothing, but the gothic skyscrappers were so kino

Santa Monica was comfy
Hollywood felt dense
Chinktown was strange

I love them all

hollywood = santa monica = downtown = chinatown

prove me right

I fucking love the soundtrack for this game

Holllywood is the worst part of the game easily.

Downtown>Hollywood=Santa Monica>Chinatown.
Nobody mentioned East LA from Clan Quest Mod? It's also pretty comfy for a Sabbat-ruled hub.
Bonus points for being able to feed on people and use Disciplines in a middle of a street and nobody giving a fuck.

Part of me liked the feeling of getting lost Downtown because it was nice having to actually learn my way around an RPG city map without half a dozen quest markers and compass pop-ups in my face.

But yeah, by the time you've found all that there is to see it does feel a bit emptier and spread out compared to the other hubs.

Attached: 4857945.jpg (807x578, 75K)

The Gargoyle was cool though

I played a melee Tremere for my first played though and I only had trouble with the Judge's Bat form

I definitely wasn't expecting it to be a giant stone gorilla in chinese armor though.

Did the guys who made this game make postal too?

Playthrough*

VTMB captures a lot of niches that are getting harder to find these days.

>horror
>stylized character designs
>character driven RPG
>smaller and more personal maps as opposed to those trying to be bigger and emptier than their predecessors

Games like Cyberpunk and VTMB2 might be a nice wake-up call for the genre, but I'm not going into them expecting the exact same feeling as the first Bloodlines.

Attached: 456987.jpg (668x500, 268K)

Nothing an unarmed Gangrel build can't solve

>do that nosferatu set of missions that rewardme with fanservice posters
>all the posters are placed in santa monica apartment
>the posters are set up really high on the wall so I can't even enjoy them in first person mode
>"photographs" are really shitty too, some of them are clearly photoshopped supermodels with shitty photoshopped VtM:B character faces

What the fuck was that? I think these missions were included in the unofficial patch, or maybe they were in the original too. I love this game but some parts are clearly rushed and unfinished. That computer shop in the alley was locked through most of the game until it was included in that nosferatu mission, and that computer shop is pretty much just a L-shaped hallway.

Really? Ming Xiao is pretty easy all things considered. Then again, I usually run a Tremere and those fuckers after some point are game-breaking. Once you realize how efficient Bloodform is and you can spam Blood Boil -> Theft of Vitae/Blood Salvo -> heal over and over again, the game is over.

No, but I can see the similarity in gameplay and style.

I dislike none of the areas, just prefer some over others. Shame that Chinatown got shit for content, it's a cool area and I liked the kuei-jin.
Something about Hollywood just clicks with me, the density of stuff to explore, the flashy buildings with lurid secrets in the back, movie and actor types next to vampires and murderers, hunting down a trashy snuff film on tape. It's the right kind of wacky for my taste.

Attached: 5-1-02.jpg (800x600, 60K)

It definitely gets worse, because they were fucked up. If they'd been allowed to make every zone as dense as Santa Monica then holy shit, that would be a hell of a game.

Nope. Bloodlines was made by Troika - they only made Arcanum, Temple of Elemental Evil and Bloodlines. Then they had to be shut down because they broke the Masquerade with the latter.

>no blinds

Bruuuh I'm your pet Turtle

Attached: 1560190702274m.jpg (1024x683, 74K)

:(

I think that Kindred of the East is a bit too much actually. They are really obscure within the overall VtM lore and in the game proper they come out of nowhere. I would've removed them and focused more on Sabbat who get pretty shitty treatment as the "usual bad guys" in the game otherwise.

>tfw no mid-2000s goth gf

Attached: abby ncis.jpg (1280x1920, 165K)

Do any of those big game changing mods allow you to save her from getting killed?

Chiasm - Isolated

You know how ass eating works bucko?

It's good that they managed to wrap it up at all with what time/budget they were given, but I think it's a shame that we couldn't have gotten a Director's Cut or something that didn't turn the last section of the game into a long series of combat hallways.

Attached: D8T862VU0AEdOrh.jpg (1049x928, 68K)

THE big game-changing mod does exactly that. You do it by essentially keeping her locked in your blood doll slave apartment forever, though. If you don't let her go then you're a fag

Hollywood's theme just takes me back to that time when I was growing up in the late 90s. That game managed to encapsulate the feeling of living in downtown LA in the 90s and early 00s.

The unofficial patch fucked my game so the sniper bloke was impossible to kill. He had a ridiculous amount of health and would just kill me in seconds, I had to god-mode it and even then it took so long for him to die. I believe they've fixed the bug now.

So either she dies, you set her free, or you lock her up forever? Sad.

I always thought Ash and Isaac were underrated.

I love the whole bittersweet concept of a huge cocky movie star at the apex of his life and career being forced to just completely fall off the radar all at once because someone cared enough about him to save his life against his will, leaving him alive, but lost in immortalized obscurity.

Attached: ash_rivers_by_onestorm_d7ekuo6.jpg (1100x1597, 481K)

Yep.
I get it. You have to realise that letting her go really is the best thing for her.

yeah and it can be dominating bruh

ISOLAAATEEEEEEEEEED

That's like putting hot sauce on your ice cream.

Unless you Embrace her as your childe. And then take her with you to assault the Sabbat HQ.

I think it's sad that there was apparently going to be more story paths to do with Heather, (like siring her into her own vampire) but you're left either with the choice to be a creeper to her in your apartment or telling her to get lost as soon as you meet her.

Attached: vtmb___heather_poe_by_erstwhilesky_dchfbhq-pre.jpg (786x1017, 145K)

desu all the vampire wangst suggests that's probably a fate worse than, well, death
you CAN tell her to get lost after making her fall in ghoulish love with you, which is even better

Yeah the quest quality can vary pretty wildly at times, it's blatantly unfinished. The quest where you kill a Lasombra in the Downtown Library (might be plus patch only) has hilariously empty rooms with nothing to do or look at.

Makes sense, I didn't know anything about the lore before playing the game. But it's true the Sabbat could have gotten some more time in the spotlight.

Thank fuck for the plus patch, saved me at least an hour of pure boredom in the sewers and Hallowbrook Hotel in my last playthrough.

>try to keep the sercophacus from the hand of the sabbat and other factions for trading
>Smiling Jack is the only guy to come to you after the fire that he maybe start it
>Accept you in your ranks despite of the bloodhunt

Why is he considered the bad guy ? He's just a shitty leader that thinks the sercophacus will grant him power either by Diablerie or by trading with the Elders.

Has anyone played Redemption?

>No nosferatu gf

Attached: 1564168969544.png (1385x1200, 527K)

>Why is he considered the bad guy
you ever chosen the negative options when talking to him? he basically dominate/hypnotises you into every mission you do for him

I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion or anything, but I think they shouldn't focus on making a sequel feel like 2006 all over again. They should try and capture what the modern day feels like.

I can't ever get into this game the gameplay is so fucking shitty. The writing is alright but I can just read it on the wiki

Lacroix's an ambitious backstabber, but he's arguably no worse to you than Jack in the end. Both sides had their agenda and you were just caught in the middle of it.

Good job ignoring all the other great quests in the area
>le snuff movie
Putting “le” in front of something is not valid criticism

Imagine how twisted and mangled her pussy would be.

I was in my edgy teen phase when this came out and I would play an asshole who was only out for himself and was ready to betray anyone for personal gain in all the RPGs that came out. But where this usually earned me godhood or something to that tune, here my prize was a ton of explosives going off in my face.

Yet somehow it was an extremely satisfying conclusion.

Sarcophagus.

The game is nice, just play it in a kino way like a Toreador Gunslinger, or a Gangrel brawler.

You'll have some fun, don't worry.

Fuck I'm retarded that makes so much sense

I get the feeling that the "GTA V reskin" meme is going to come true for Cyberpunk and that it'll focus on setpieces more than exploration and interaction.

Actually this.

You think 2006 wasn't boring?

>They should try and capture what the modern day feels like.
They’ve been doing that with the actual tabletop RPG and it’s proven to be disastrous for the fanbase. Nobody wants to play a game where all vampires are “misunderstood,” everyone cries about how human meatbags are unfairly treated, and despite living in a world of centuries-old horrors our biggest threat is still internet trolls, nazis, and “white supremacists.”

>try to keep the sercophacus from the hand of the sabbat and other factions for trading
He doesn't. He wants to diablerize the supposed antideluvian. Which is pretty much an unforgivable crime in the eyes of Camarilla.
Strauss wants to keep the sarcophagus from the everyone else's hands.
>Accept you in your ranks despite of the bloodhunt
That he himself announced - you were innocent and he knew that. He was trying to get you killed from the moment he spared you at the beginning of the game. You joining him in the end would've been a very short-lived alliance, because he was probably planning to kill you anyways once he diablerizes the elder vampire.
He's also incompetent ponce, who can't understand the meaning of diplomacy. He managed to turn even the primogen in Camarilla against him.

I played an absolute moralfag because I thought it contrasted with the setting so well. I would have rocked priest clothes if I had the option.
I'd really like for just once in the next game your pc has a chance to say something along the lines of "All life is precious" in a room full of 300 year old vamps and be met with complete silence, confusion, and disgust.

That's Tzimisce.

Assa'mite strange name.

it shouldn't just be 2005 again, but making it too current would make the game a bit boring.
the further you go back or forward, the more you can work with to make the game interesting.

I started playing extreme moralfags when I became older.

Mods for a first playthrough other than the unofficial patch?

While I don't expect it to play out as perfectly as the early footage has shown, I do appreciate the the marketing emphasis has been on branching quest lines and character interaction more-so than on just driving and shooting your way around a huge open map.

>They should try and capture what the modern day feels like.
Shit like that gave us Rudi, the black gay muslim antifa.

Attached: 1558298163006.png (1466x309, 106K)

VTMB2 might be alright, but V5 blows and I hate it for what it's done to the setting. They got rid of all the mysterious and powerful shit in an attempt to scale it down for new players.
We'll have no Sabbat, no Giovanni, no jyhad, no elders pulling the strings. It sucks.

Yeah, it had a nice atmosphere, but the gameplay becomes repetitive FAST. Diablo-style slasher does not mesh well with more RP focused VtM system.
Also, the system used has nothing to do with VtM ruleset and the story while servicable, is absolutely going places - especially at the end.
It's either very VtM cliche, or completely bonkers and not entirely correct with the lore.

VTM shouldn't feel like 2006 or 2019

It should feel like 1999.

Attached: tm.jpg (2100x3156, 3.68M)

Cool game

Attached: 1545187526716.png (160x146, 51K)

Great game, loved shredding crowds with a chainsaw.

I am mostly pissed for what they did to the Lasombra and Obtenebration.

Very repetitive, story's alright, especially the era change. But the gameplay is so mind-numbingly samey that you'll be doing the same things from start to finish. Also 3rd person in a Diablo clone blows.

I still won't forgive what they have done to the Tremere and in the larger scope Camarilla. Seriously, they got completely butchered.
And Camarila are the always evil "nazi oppressor" now, going against good and noble Anarchs. There's your fucking "modern day feel".

>
Yes, I just said that he was a shitty leader. More preoccupied by the Diablerie instead of the Vampires in his city and Thin Bloods going frenzy. Honestly his Diableries is arguably less threatning than the Kuei Jin. This doesn't make him your antagonist, you're just a pawn in a larger game.

>
Then, why would he accept you ? My guess is that Jack played Jihad very well and told you lies that LaCroix puts a bloodhunt on you because you know too much (Kack had maybe statted the fire himself). Reality is that he thought that you killed Nines, and thought you allied with the Kuei Jin necause of your claims about the alliance.

>Fucks men
>Follows Islam
I wonder if it's honest belief or cover to a avoid being roofed

I don't mind as long as the different factions are still interesting. They've said that they want the sequel to experiment more with the player being able to choose between branching allegiances and political agendas earlier on in the story, which is the one area I think that they could really one-up the first game in as long as they manage to follow through on it.

Attached: 1484496669798.png (485x537, 281K)

Most games 15 years ago were created with profit as their primaty motive too.

I hope you mean the basic patch just for bugfixes. Don't use anything else.

I have a suspicion that the game will not be "politically neutral". I suspect the writers will try to push you towards joining the anarchs - the Mary Sue sect of V5, while giving you shit for joining Camarilla or other traditional faction - like the Tremere Pyramid. I guess Sabbat is out of the question, because it's fucking V5.

Are you that fag that keeps calling the plus patch cuck shit?

I'd almost just recommend the basic fan patch for a first vanilla playthrough that works without potential interference from other mods.

Attached: d9lhwzh-8c9ece8f-1875-49be-9d09-c37c8c8cefb1.png (793x1100, 1.2M)

>The quest where you kill a Lasombra in the Downtown Library (might be plus patch only) has hilariously empty rooms with nothing to do or look at.

Yeah, this is a mod and not official content. The room where the boss fight takes place is based on early screenshots and concept art but everything else is designed by the modder.

>actual reasonable response to a joke of a character
I mean, that's a pretty good point. Nothing wrong with a character that can be viewed as a complete flip flopping moron.

I think it would only be a problem when they're presented as an obvious Marty Stu who zero flaws who is better than anyone.

No. A lot of people will say not to use plus your first time, it just changes too much and it's not all good.

I don't know. It's all speculation at this point but I don't think they'd make Tremere and Ventrue clans playable again if they didn't want to try to do anything interesting with them.

Attached: vtmb_mage.jpg (1999x1863, 246K)

If Bloodlines 2 can even be 1/4 as SOULFUL as Bloodlines, I will be happy. I'm giving Mitsoda my energy

>honestly his Diableries is arguably less threatning than the Kuei Jin.
Diablerizing a matuselah, or heavens forbid an fucking antideluvian is an apocaliptically bad idea. Even if LaCroix succeded in that - and the only one who ever succeded in diablerizing an antideluvian was Lord Tremere and he still has difficulty keeping his essence in check - he would probably go nuts with power. And more likely, the antideluvian would've killed LaCroix or taken over his body. And you do not want an awakend antideluvian running around. Last time the antideluvian woke up, he ate the entire vampire clan - Ravnos. So, keeping LaCroix as far away from the sarcophagus is not a bad idea.
Also, he totally wants you dead - you are threatening his power with your competence.

Best unused song. Restoration, despite the problems, is worth it for the music.

>V5
>Tremere pyramid
user, I...

Separating characters into "good guy" and "bad guy" completely misses the "everything's a grey area" ethos of OWoD, which I think VTMB captured decently. Since the game industry has been taken over by idiots, the new game will feature some kind of cartoonishly retarded evil antagonist, just like V5.
I'm surprised that Rudi isn't trans desu. Maybe when they update the setting.
It can feel like whatever. The setting could easily be turned into another AC, and when I was still playing tabletop VTM I had the most fun with Dark Ages.

Attached: vampire the moesquerade.jpg (480x360, 55K)

It's kind of strange that she's the postergirl of this game but she's only relevant in the first area.

She's one of the highlights of the game, though I wonder if she played a larger role in earlier drafts.

God female Malk is so fucking hot
I just can't describe why

VTMB2 does not use V5. Stop spouting bullshit you know nothing about and educate yourself before whining like that.

Shut up, let me dream. I want BL2 to ignore V5 and what have they done to Tremere. Who the fuck thought that anarch-aligned radical feminist lesbian sex cult is a good idea for a Tremere house?
Also, Elif (the Tremere chick in the gameplay demo) does mention the Pyramid and Mitsoda himself suggested that BL2 might be "semi-canon" and that it would ignore some V5 elements. In my opinion, the more elements from V5 it ignores, the better.

Do you guys think it'll be a bad idea to play Malkavian first in VTMB2 the same way it is in the first game?

We know as much as you do about the sequel, user. If you don't want to think for yourself and have us think for you then the answer is no. It's not a bad idea, neither in the first game or this one.

I actually had the twist spoiled for me a while before I played Bloodlines, and assumed that it was a grand reveal at the end of the story. Was a bit bummed that the Voermans didn't actually show up again after Santa Monica.

Attached: therese by holdokat.jpg (835x1131, 256K)

I don't think it's a bad idea if you know what to expect from a Malkavian. People don't recommend them or Nosferatu in 1 just because they're not really great at easing you into the setting.

It does use V5 systems. Like the potence, blood sorcery, hunger mechanic and this whole "emotional feeding" shit. The jury is on the story - but I suspect that Paradox will strongarm the writers to use the lore from V5 - to everyone's annoyance.

>the same way it is in the first game?
but that's wrong. i played malk first and i'm glad i didn't listen to you fags saying don't.

I'll probably hold off on a Malk run until my second playthrough just to see the core experience normally first.

But I understand the temptation to play through blind as a Malkavian and be able to appreciate the confusion of how potential voices/hallucinations may or may not be foreshadowing something depending on what they do with the clan curse.

Attached: neonate_sei_a.jpg (867x1300, 474K)

Methuselah

Do you guys think Paradox will rewrite all of the dialogue just for Malkavian players?

No. One extra dialogue option.

Yes as a DLC

And now I just remembered the fucking Technocracy from Mage, which were cartoonishly evil. Fuck that was some extra stupid bullshit.
Activision didn't fuck the game up, Troika fucked themselves up by letting scope exceed resources several times over and generally not managing the project for shit because they were ~artists~, and more importantly Valve fucked Source up 10 ways to Tuesday, which fucked everything up.

Didn't the Technocracy put down a rampaging antediluvian? They're on humanity's side.

>Valve fucked Source up
Not really. They were still developing it at the time, but would send Troika the updates. Later interviews have devs saying there's nothing to blame Valve for.

>the new game will feature some kind of cartoonishly retarded evil antagonist, just like V5
I had a misfortune of watching one episode of " V5 LA by Night" stream some time ago. It's depressing how the ST (who is the developer for V5 mind you) and the players are going out of their way to paint Camarilla as the irredeemably evil and Anarchs as the "good guys". They even retconned the personalities of some lore Camarilla-aligned characters like Victoria Ash - to make them look more "evil".

I love the first game a lot, but I don't think Lacroix is as complex and morally grey as people make him out to be. I still think he's a fun character, but he's pretty blatant in how quick he's willing to throw you under the bus if it serves his grab for power from the get-go.

Not that the Anarchs are portrayed as perfect heroes either, so much as angry rebels who refuse to establish leadership, but I wouldn't fault anyone for interpreting Lacroix and the Kuei-jin as clear cut villains.

Attached: brian-matyas-darkmanhair.jpg (1920x2743, 375K)

>Not that the Anarchs are portrayed as perfect heroes either
Anarchs were never heroes, that was the point - at least up until V5. The thing with Anarchs was - they were always being treated as a joke within the VtM lore - and deservedly so. They are your typical strawman "I rebel for the sake of rebelling" type of sect that can never get their shit together - because they can never tell against what they are actually rebelling - and the minute they secure and ounce of influence, they get fucked over by their leaders who inevitably want more power. They were always presented as a trapping of misplaced idealism
compared to more pragmatic Camarilla - you realize their vision is an impossible utopia doomed to fail and you either pity them of laugh at them.

I don't think this is the guy we're going to be expected to follow to hell and back.

Attached: brujaha.jpg (1200x1070, 217K)

Exactly.

Overrated shit

I beat it my first playthrough, console'd it every subsequent one.

Attached: jeanette.png (657x669, 376K)

While I imagine that there would have been more nuanced faction endings if the dev team wasn't rushed in the end, I think the Camarilla vs. Anarch conflict works alright in VTMB because there are at least a few schmucks and people who have their shit together on both sides of the conflict.

Nines is a cool guy who saves your life, but he also refuses to delegate power or consider diplomacy. Strauss is a shady blood mage, but he actually upholds the pragmatism of Camarilla ideals without trying to stab you in the back.

Which is funny, because the one guy who refuses to fuck you over is a goddamn Tremere. You know, the clan who rose into prominence by fucking over other clans.

I always skipped hand-to-hand and did melee first, and started guns by the time Chinatown started ramping up. That way you just hack-and-slash through the first half of the game but have enough points left to not be useless during the end.

You must be talking to someone else. I am no longer here.

Clan stereotypes I suppose.

Some people just want to be nerdy mages.

Ash is sad husbando material.

They helped, yeah, although it's possible that Ravnos pulled an Aizen using Plot Device and they "killed" an illusion with their spirit nuke and orbital mirrors. The only reason why they did it is that Ravnos was a threat to their model of reality that they wanted to use to control and shape humanity into the usual cyberpunk dystopia with augmented humans, biomechanical horrors, and all that nonsense.
I'm referring to Valve getting hacked and having to do a major engine rewrite due to Source's source code being leaked, which screwed Troika up.
In the world he lives in, it makes sense for him to fuck you over if it helps him, especially since you're a nobody and you kinda owe him one for not executing you anyway. He's essentially trying to do the same thing you are: survive in a twisted world. He thinks that rising to the top and gaining real ultimate power will help him do that, even though it paints a giant target on his back and makes it less likely for him to survive.

Beckett arguably doesn't fuck you over either if you're not an ass to him

Beckett uses you as a pawn to play his epic joke onto everyone.

I like how the news reports imply that he just gets into rampant car accidents every now and then because he doesn't give a shit about living anymore.

Attached: ash_rivers_by_flyingfennel_d5w78wd.jpg (1131x1700, 558K)

Sure but he also warns you against opening the sarcophagus which effectively saves your life

Is the plus patch worth using on a second playthrough or should I just ignore it entirely?

Has all interest in Bloodlines 2 died, or it just because there's no more clean reveals? Gamescom is the first time gabs can gets a hands on with the game right?

>In the world he lives in, it makes sense for him to fuck you over
I wouldn't say it doesn't make sense for his situation. Considering that he's a Camarilla leader and his higher-ups forced himto govern a place that doesn't respect his rule at all, leaving him surrounded by enemies on all sides, fueling his paranoia and desire to have something that might cement his safety and power.

But there's also very little reason to ever side with him in the end, and I think it's a shame that he didn't have more of a Quid quo pro story route if you were actually loyal to his cause and the order he might have brought to the city.

it's worth. I don't get why it has a bad reputation, adds all sorts of alternate but logical ways to complete quests that make you feel like they should have been in the game in the first place

I think there's still interest, just nothing new to discuss beyond the clan introductions and semi-janky combat preview.

why would MC let Lacroix have the key if they’re not aware that it’s a trap?

what happens if a kindred sucks on a kuei jin?

IIRC they can feed on Kuei Jin blood and it drains their chi, so if they drain all the chi the rest of the blood is useless.

So that the ending could still have a dramatic reveal.

Im playing it right now and wondering how the fuck everyone is lower gen than me and what i have to do to gain humanity in medievil times. Managing entire party of 4 guys in real time is a mess, and if you leave them in aggresive stance they will spend all their fucking blood on a fucking rat or something, as soon as i got majesty skill im playing it solo with Christof. I love the writing, story before embracing was beautifully executed. Soundtrack is very good, especially i like Tower of London and Tenebrae pub. The era change was a very nice surprise, however dungeons didn't change at all, you waking up in Leopold place which is the most modern dungeon in the game by now, i didn't finish the game yet. I was expecting Bloodlines to have more connections to Redemption, the only thing there is its character Lily i guess, and nothing more, but im not in NY yet.

TLDR im enjoying it, especially writing and music

>Managing entire party of 4 guys in real time is a mess
Didn't the game have active pause?

If it does i didn't find it in 13 hours of playing

>implying that's wrong

Pretty sure it was the Pause / Break key. I definitely played this game like a Baldur's Gate rather than a messy action game. I only played it around release so my memories are hazy though.

The game was designed with multiplayer in mind, which explains a lot of the quirks in singleplayer.

Also now that I think about it many modern keyboards, particularly on laptops don't have the Pause/Break key at all, so I get why people playing the game on more modern machines may be confused.

I would have liked an ending where I could just keep the key for myself and throw it in the ocean or something, but like others have said, the devs were already rushed on time and money when trying to wrap everything up.

Attached: Grout's_Wife_concept.jpg (288x576, 25K)

>not actually disfigured or ugly, just monstrously cute

Go all the way or go home pussy

Btw, turning Grouts wife into a ghoul wouldn't cure her? Can't remember what was the deal with that.

I gave up trying to beat the sheriff as tremere

he probably didn’t want to get her caught up in that shit

I think Grout went a very long time without knowing any of the rules or abilities of vampirism, and just had his own research to go on before he finally met the Camarilla.

By that time it might have been too late, or Grout was too far gone mentally to know what to do for her. Or maybe he simply wanted his wife to remain human.

Same. I missed an option where you could choose not to open it but at the same time not give it to lacroix.

Is there even a hint of sexiness in the new VtM?

>He didn't see the big breasted Toreador

Did you even watch the trailer?

Attached: bobpage.jpg (274x365, 14K)

Was that the mature old hag?

I think Tremere quest lady and some of the preview designs are cute, but I suppose that's subjective.

Yeah not really Jeanette tier is it? Seems designed to be as uncontroversial as possible so far

It's easy with guns even if you put no points in them. Stay JUST outside of her reach and empty all your bullets into the cunt. It doesn't even take long.

How can you suck this bad? It's easier for them than any other clan.

>mature old hag?
now that's a shit opinion.

But theres no drawback of being a ghoul, is there? Being a malks ghoul is probably one of the worst ghouls scenarios, giving that malk ghouls are little insane themself, but that the only price i guess. And other kindred doesn't give a damn about ghouls, so they would not target her.

Don't really know, seeing as I had no problem with literally any other boss

youtu.be/YX_kez_xwJs
This song gives me the kino hairs every time. There's just something so thematically perfect about a group of vampire rejects sitting on a comfy rainy beach around a garbage fire and listening to this.

Playing as a Malkavian in this is the first & only time I've ever been able to role play properly in a video game
in every other game I could never immerse myself enough to effectively become the character I'm playing as, I could never think of myself as anyone but myself

But when playing as a Malkavian something about the poetic way they talked just clicked

Depends on how it's done I guess. Mercurio and Romero were cool, but Heather basically became an unstable drug addict getting high off vamp blood, and Malk Ghouls apparently end up with a taste of the clan curse.

Attached: Vandal_AnyerinaDraws.jpg (981x934, 99K)

>But theres no drawback of being a ghoul, is there?

Look up what Tzimisce do to their ghouls.

I like blowjob scene in Chinatown

I always thought the thinbloods were underrated. Just a bunch of poor vampire hobos banding together with what little info they have about the supernatural world they've been unceremoniously dropped into.

which clan has the most interesting internal struggles?

Isn't Boyarski working at Obsidian now?

They were the same power level as Caine and the third generation, they were all antediluvians.

Troika Games was frustrating as fuck because they could never put it together but in four years they made 3 excellent games and Bloodlines was the last one. VTMB was made by a bunch of passionate RPG experts who made some of the best titles in the genre and spent years working through the grind; they were at the top of their game.

Nowadays, I mean, look at who is writing these RPGs. We're talking about companies that pay people who go on twitter to talk about how much they hate playing RPGs. It's why I don't have any faith in the new game, I'd love to be surprised, but it's simply impossible to assemble a team with that much passion and ability and experience these days.

chinatown is by far the worst area. what happened?

>tfw Toreador with Malk bf

Attached: 1479429357309.png (402x428, 174K)

Toreador and Malkavian
Internal struggles are great.

Outer world is supposed to be that, but still I doubt the guys still have the same passion and creativity they had 15 years ago.

That's what they are selling, but those are just the names on the top, and yea, they're not the same people they were in 2002. But there's also a whole staff of people below them, and that's where the real work gets done.

Is the new game even going to have industrial metal or anything like the previous game's soundtrack? I kinda hope they bite the bullet and just put Massive Attack's Angel in the game.

Kalliyan

it’s been years and i still don’t get it

hahahahahaha moron
the devs even spoke of some V5 mechanics being developed in tandem with Bloodlines 2
fucking idiot

in fact, everything between methuselah and thin blood are titles based on experience

In one of their gay novels, Caine was not in LA.

so they changed his character instead of just explaining to the one guy who ever asked how that was possible, "uhh he has 11 dots in celerity"

No, substituting greed for passion is not the same as
>capitalism BAD

just have him use dominate on a dude for the duration of the story

Perfect taste

how about “capitalism is fine, but encourages some shit I’m not fond of”?

Yeah capitalists generally invest in games out of passion and not to make profit, as we all know.

>implying VTMB2 isn't going to be an abortion

Everything I've seen, heard or read about it and the developments around it actively makes me mad.
I think it's going to be an absolute travesty.

It's not that. Tim Cain and Leo Boyarsky are just names used as advertisement like Chris Avellone. Leo isn't doing the art or majority of the writing, the former particularly being his strongest role. Tim Cain is a disastrous system designer but a brilliant creative quest designer. He's not doing quests.

You can have capital investment without subsuming to greed user.

>You were supposed to use cheats.
You purposely go the entire game without spending your money on weapons so you can use cheats on the final boss? Why?

>Everything I've seen, heard or read about it and the developments around it actively makes me mad.
Seeing the original writer heading the project makes you mad?

I play the game normally, buying weapons, ammo, and upgrades and allocating my character points efficiently. When the game breaks, or I approach any objectively shit piece of level or enemy design, I use cheats to prevent me from alt f4ing and uninstalling out of boredom. You're kidding yourself if you think half of the gameplay in this game is actually worth anybody's time. We're here for the vampire roleplaying.

To be fair, Mitsoda's gloves are ridiculous, dude's obviously stuck in 2004.

>remembering mitsoda still wears the gloves
wtf i hate bloodlines 2 now

That's absolutely bullshit because even with a high firearms skill a lot of the bosses will soak all your ammo.

what does jack say about the rat in the tutorial if you’re playing a ventrue?

Fact: Toreador are the most powerful Clan. Vent-limps and Tre-cucks btfo

It's one of the first things you do in the game. Fire it up and find out, autismo.

>Fireden gone
good riddance. it's somehow slower than any website, regardless of time of day, than any website i can remember browsing in the last 20 years

I figured out the melee strategy after about an hour against the Chinese squid lady

Always get up close and personal except when she goes for the charge or the 90 degree claw attack. It's super easy when you do that also go for the doppelganger immediately when it spanws and you can take it out in seconds.

I get so depressed thinking we'll never get games like this made in the future, games that are like little creative passion projects from a few inspired writers/art directors.

Everything is always going to be a giant soulless corporate shitshow.

I really wish we could just go back to releasing games made by a few dozen people, I don't care about the graphical hit. Hell it probably wouldn't be that much of a downgrade.

Indies could fill that void, especially with some becoming a mid tier studio after a successful game

>Indies could fill that void
doubt it. Games like vtmb were far from indie productions lmao.

Read the second half of my post. Companies like Yacht Club, Team Meat and Catcus have made more than enough cash to fund a game like that.

Yes, he wasn't the only writer in on VTMB and he was an far left back then. Without surrounding circumstances to keep him in check and that loopy leftist broad to keep him company it's clear we're going to see no shortage of propagandist bullshit in VTMB2.

He's not surprised the Blueblood refuse to eat rats or if you did, laughs at you for being more stupid.

I feel like Pisha, Yukie, and Mr. Ox all have a style of questlines that would be perfect for a reprisal, but I don't know if they'll bring back anyone that can die.

Attached: pisha_leavenopathuntaken.jpg (900x1200, 153K)

That's how I died on my first run as well. I thought half of the point of killing Lacroix was to stop anyone from opening the sarcophagus and starting gehenna, but I inadvertently opened it trying to play finders keepers with the key.

You're looking too deep into Mitsoda liking the look of wearing gloves.

The gloves are a legitimately-laughable shitpost subject. The objective fact nothing shown about the game so far has suggested the slightest bit of quality or SOUL is unrelated.
I will continue to shitpost about the gloves until he stops dressing like a 15-year-old trying to look edgy and counter-culture. He's a middle-aged man, it's shameful.

I try not to hate things before they even exist.

Pisha is such a cool concept for a character. An occultist flesh-eating monster necromancer who deals you completely fairly despite her alien, completely dead morality. I'd rather just use her again instead of coming up with a lamer replacement.

Aren't the Kuei Jin cannibals too?

Weren't they able to eat normal food? So Ming yucks it up when you're only able to drink blood.

Attached: 1558866592035.jpg (369x443, 33K)

>your sire is apparently important enough that LaCroix dislikes having to kill them but not important enough to have their role in anything even hinted at

Why would he have a role? Maybe Lacroix dislikes all the bullshit and politics involved with punishment. Like the exact bullshit you bring to him.

The Secret World Legends is pretty close and very good on its own. Also free on Steam.

Attached: remf5lhr03sz.jpg (1536x2048, 261K)

The Kuei Jin feed on chi / life energy, they start out as cannibals but as they grow older and more powerful they learn to get it from blood or breath.

They're only superficially similar to the Kindred (e.g. they rot in the sun) and are cosmologically unrelated. They're basically the souls of sinners condemned to Chinese Hell who managed to run away back to their bodies and are animating them using stolen life energy.

Kalliyan is cute and a good fuck. And her questline is nice.
Too bad she's a trap.

this is unironically correct. People don't seem to realize that bloodlines had characters just as politically charged back then.

They didnt though. They weren't "charged". What's-her-face was a clueless fashion Che Guevara poser. None of the main characters were political. They adhered to Camarilla power structures or Camp politics, not human. Which is the point. Human politics are just the farce to further their own goals, the clueless thinbloods push to be a part of the human world they paradoxical can't join.

>they adhered to camarilla power structures or camp politics, not human

the point was that as much as they were monsters, at the end of the day, they were intertwined. Some of the more psychopathic vampires put on a farce, but many of them in the game admit that they miss their humanity.

>mfw this happened
>mfw have an actual friend named Samantha

>and safe,
Not with those non-boarded up windows. You'd have to 'sleep' in the bathroom to survive.

The boards are on the floor.

So most of them are evil by default I'd guess?

But what I'm getting at is they are putting sexuality and race into VtM, which is stupid as fuck, because sexuality and race doesn't fucking matter to an undead magic leech. They are doing that shit where they want to intertwine human elements so you can hurrdurr relate, but that is completely missing the point.

I disagree. If somebody sired a retarded sjw, do you think they would be less retarded?

I fucking doubt it. Lots of retards could end up as vampires. Clinging to their humanity.

if sexuality didn't matter to an undead magic leech why was jeanette/therese so fucked up still from being raped by their dad?

Pissed off Kristoff.

That the trauma that fucked with their identity from before their embrace. And that's the whole Crux of the game. You aren't human, you have to make inhumane choices and the times you try to emulate humanity it bites you in the ass. Brujahs are everyone's fuckboy cannon fodder for a reason, revolutionaries are easy to manipulate.

But no, sexuality doesnt matter, it's why you have many pansexual vampires, or asexuality. It's a holdout from before the embrace, and you WILL become asexual the older you get.

>the trauma fucked wit htheir identity from before their embrace

and you think being homosexual but born into a family that would literally stone you to death or throw you off of the roof of a building isn't something that would traumatize you?

Sure, not as much as being actually raped, but imagine the amount of psychological torment it must be to know your family would kill you just because of who you are, because of a religion.

But then imagine that other than the hating gays part, you agree with the religion. Or maybe you even internalized the bigotry to the point where you hate yourself. You never felt like a proper human to begin with.

Maybe that's why the transformation didn't change him out of human politics?

But people do that all the time, like half of all sundaes consist of that.

I mean...they would kill if you were a vampire. Now you have power to kill them were they to try. I imagine it's liberating. I would seem it as a way to ascend past the limitations of human flesh. And if he believed in the religion, he would suicide himself very quickly for being an abomination anyways.

I just don't see it as compelling because religion is a deadend for VtM because it always goes 2 ways. You gotta give it up or you truly believe and don't care if you die, thus Noble sacrifice. Boring.

You're typing like a psychopath. Did you just not have parents, so you don't understand what it's like.. or what?

>they would kill you if you were a vampire
Perhaps, but at that point you're ACTUALLY not a human. When he was still a human, they would kill him if they knew what he was. It's an entirely different scenario.

>i imagine its liberating

to be able to kill people you love, who would hate you if you told them an essential part of your being, even though all you want is their approval?

>if he believed in the religion, he would suicide himself very quickly for being an abomination

except rationalization for most people doesn't work that way. He would rationalize that if he served his religion it would be okay to be an abomination, as long as he did more to benefit it than hurt it.

I mean, idk if you've read the sourcebooks for VtM, I'm basically going over the changes that occur after embrace. Like...you don't care about those people like that anymore. The point of the Malks is, they had severe trauma, it was further magnified by the Mall curse. Gay Hindu activist...is gonna continue being gay, use religious activity as a habit like smoking when stressed, and move their activism to thinblood rights.

Mostly because Caine wiped them out when he found out they had sired the Third and subsequent generations. Then he fucked off somewhere to wait it out, leaving some cryptic threats and such about coming back "later."

Why the fuck do you people always say soul in all-caps? Just say it regularly.

Is there any essential interviews I could read if I want to know more about development/game's world/unused content? I'm a sucker for this shit, honestly.

>Mostly because Caine wiped them out when he found out they had sired the Third and subsequent generations.
No, third gen diablerized the second gen. Caine only cursed the third gen for that.

>hunger mechanic
What, so no blood pool? Just a random chance of hunger up or things going horribly wrong every time you use a power? I can't imagine they could implement something like that reasonably in an action game. It'll just be a pretty standard blood pool system, I am certain.

that just makes her better, tho

the pussy is real

I just got into the world of darkness and it's fan games expansion things lore books, how the fuck do i play this?
After finishing reading the lore books I'm supposed to make my own adventures right?

Never heard of an RPG before? fucking hell doesnt each rpg corebook have a little briefer at the start saying what a tabletop rpg is?

It's a series of tabletop games. You know, stuff like Dungeons and Dragons. You'll need a group of people to play with.

When they first start out they're actually mindless animals and slowly become thinking people again after being taken in by older Kuei Jin and whipped whenever they bark at the mailman. They have their own equivalent of clans that they fall into eventually, but when they're young(but old enough to be a person again) they can have as much variance in personality as a new Cainite. As they get older and more powerful though they can get just as weird and alien in mind. Overall they have a defining cultural trend of seeing themselves as being given a second chance at life that they must use to find their place in the universe and bring balance to the Jedi or some shit.

>tfw you can't dominate yukie's young cutie pie body

Isn't it playing over the radio that has Smaller God on it though? Or was that something else? Playing two different tracks at the same time was retarded.

>you must be a psychopath for not caring about sexuality in vtm!!!11

Fuck off nigger, whatever shit they get off on before the embrace now they can experience it x100 better by sucking someone elses blood. It's also a lot harder for them to get it up since you'll require bloodpoints and it won't feel as good anymore since being a blood sucker would give them a rush better than any kind of fucking would. After that point, only a malk would be crazy enough to care about that kind of shit.

>Princess the hopeful mod never ever
>game in the world of darkness that let's you play something besides vampires never ever
Fuck, if I learn to use ren'py ever I might do a fan game

Werewolf would focus too much on political activism and hippy stuff instead of the metal as fuck parts of it, Mage is impossible to make into a video game, and no one cares about Changling.

Making nossies actually ugly might trigger somebody these days so its not gonna happen

Seconded. The gameplay is absolutely dogshit abysmal, however, the story and atmosphere will keep you playing if you really like those things.

I don't understand this boss fight. She took me a long ass time to beat with firearms but I never recieved any damage from her. Just stayed away and shot her until she died, easiest boss fight in the game. Did the game glitch or something?

Someone contact the modder that keeps updating bloodlines so he gets a hold of fan expansions, with his based autism super powers he might do wonders

>Modern AA games are written by fanfiction dorks and leftist zealots.
But that literally describes troika, why aren't we getting more VTMB type stuff then?

if I remember right the closer you get the more damage firearms do

Nah he is just a cunt with no redeemable qualities, surprised how one dimensional some of the characters were.

How's the tabletop rpg things doing lately? is it dying? is it's future inevitable pdf files? did tumblr-goblins infiltrated and are being actual cancer? just asking

>did tumblr-goblins infiltrated and are being actual cancer?
The tale of Rudi is a deep and meaningful one.

And they're still on the floor at the end of the game, nothing the player can do about that. It's a pretty nasty oversight that they give you a haven you couldn't possibly survive in if the game had a day/night cycle (the absense of which is a terrible gameplay oversight in itself. Fuck whinging gits who can't be arsed getting to safety once every 4 to 6 hours of real play time, sunlight needs to feel like a legimate threat to a vampire.)

It's more popular than ever with normies thanks to Critical Role and D&D 5e being a braindead easy system to learn. But quality of gamers don't come with quantity and the amount of That Guys and special snowflakes have skyrocketed.
And tabletop gaming has been thoroughly infiltrated by tumblr goblins by now with Critical Role opening the floodgates. Every company either caters to them by choice (WotC, Paizo, WW) or is bullied into catering to them. The quality of the sourcebooks dropped singificantly, because everything has to be simplified so that every moron understands what's going on and is not challenged in the slightest.
So, despite tabletop being more popular than even I feel like it's slowly dying a death if thousand cuts.

>>Sure, not as much as being actually raped,
I'm fairly certain the constant threat of being hatefully executed by your loved ones would be quite a bit more traumatic than a one off forcy fun-time.

I was going to play though and see every ending from the branching paths you get at the last checkpoint. One fight against this bitch and I dropped the game.

Try Bloodlust Shadowhunter. It gets pretty close and was obviously inspired heavily by VtMB, but it didn't try to make an exact copy so it's still good as its own thing.

>But that literally describes troika
Not really. VtMB made fun of retards on the left too.

Objectively correct

why does that mean they're not leftist?

I thought Tremere had something interesting going on where being a full-blooded Tremere didn't mean you were part of the clan, but it's never explored.
Gary Golden siring people out of spite and mercy was really cool, too.

>Fuck whinging gits who can't be arsed getting to safety once every 4 to 6 hours of real play time
That's just tedious and it's not even a real threat most of the time. It just stops you from doing whatever you were doing for a while. It's not fun.

That boss is literally only vulnerable to gun builds you retard. Melee is worthless against it.

Sounds like you might have skipped the core rulebook? You might want to look up some recorded games on the (You) Tube to get an idea of how it all goes with a group.

I didn't say that. The other poster said Troika were leftist ZEALOTS, but being able to criticize your own "side" doesn't make you seem like a zealot.

literally buy flamethrower the boss. a little thinking doesnt hurt friends

I want VTMB2 to have a newly sired Nagaraja being fucking miserable. Revolted at what they have to do, treated with annoyance for their disgust by other Nagaraja, then by the end of the game they're settled into the role
B2 better fucking have Nagaraja, I found Pisha sickening with tech 15 years old, I want to see their modern look.

the pro-retard left is a fairly new development. lefties used to be anti-retard, at least up to the point where their revolutions succeeded and the leaders had to put all of the non-retards into reeducation camps, but since "retard" is now a Bad Word they're competing with themselves to reach new levels of retardation every day. the right used to be the leaders in retardation but they can't keep up anymore.

I just searched for this critical role group, huh how unexpected and eye rolling
>dead of thousand cuts
Don't be sad user, people can always band together and make like things they don't like in their media never happend, I usually prefer sticking to official content but when they turned into literal big bong theory tumblr fusion diluted writing quality perhaps it's time to cut ties with official shit
who needs canon when canon sucks amarite?

BL2 doesn't even have playable Gangrel and Nosferatu because it's too much work. So there is no way they are going to acknowledge some obscure bloodline from 3rd edition of VtM.

Unfortunately the studio was a dead man walking at the time of it's release do they didn't even get to finish the game much less do behind the scenes stuff thanks Activison.

It would occasionally create a sense of urgency and thrill to the game. A need to plan ahead instead of mindlessly charging through. Being a vampire shouldn't be 100% a power trip, the downsides need to be portrayed well. Honestly I think that 'it's inconvenient' mindset is the reason games are so dumbed down and mindless.

The guy is a cuntish megalomaniac trying to increase his own power instead of keeping the peace.

Thankfully, in an instance of Vampire, you still have V20 to fall back on - and that's the edition most players use instead of this atrocious drivel that is Vampire 5th edition. Because only Tumblr cares about V5 at this point - there is a point where you go too much to the left.

>the downsides need to be portrayed well
I think needing to feed and the politics are better suited for that. I'm not saying everything needs to be streamlined/casualized/convenient, but I hated the time system in Majora's Mask too. I didn't feel like it really added any urgency or difficulty, it just became repetitive and took you away from everything else in the game.

What the fuck are you on about? go eat a nigger dick and shut the fuck up LOL.

dumb fish

On the other hand, the day/night cycle in a vampire game it may create some interesting emergent scenarios if done correctly. There are games that are doing it well. Witcher 1 and Minecraft did some nice things with day/night cycles - some monsters were nocturnal or nighttime was a time of danger. And you can build some interesting story missions on this mechanic - like trying to take on enemy coterie in broad daylight when they are at their weakest similarly to VtM Redemption. And getting caught in daylight doesn't always have to be a game over - you can always hop into sewers or some proviously prepared building that serves as a temporary haven. The question is, how well it must be done for it not to be frustrating.

>Fishmalks are just the shit posters of the Madness Network.

No they were leftists sure, but not leftist retards. This can also be seen in early Simpsons writers.

There's a difference, same as there is a difference between being gay and being a faggot.

What a shame. There's something weird, in a good way, about the way it is combined and works (not literally, but you know what I'm talking about). They nailed the early aughts/y2k atmosphere. Even the fucking Source engine helps in that case.

Do you even know what a tabletop RPG is? Like Dungeons & Dragons type shit?

Then why all his dialogue filenames are named Caine?

What the fuck weapon were you using and what were your stats?

Because he was supposed to be Caine. The Vampire product line was ending, so WW kinda allowed for some really lore-breaking bullshit, because they didn't care about future continuity at this point. Then they changed their minds and said that Caine was some sort of ancient Malkavian in case the the VtM timeline was to be continued. Then they pulled off the identical shit to what Bloodlines with Caine hanging out with Beckett in Greece in one of the Gehenna books.
And at this point the official version is - it may have been Caine, it might have been some old metuselah, we don't know, we don't care.

Tabletop things like dungeons and dragons has never been relevant in my country
I do however like lore... And rpg games and vtm bloodlines which made me land on the lore books things both official and fan made which I read them all, but the actual gameplay and what I'm supposed to do is an enigma to me

It's likely that Troika did that and White Wolf had no input. It's also possible that the devs just did that as a joke. IIRC one of the devs more or less said it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously.

They've never been relevant in ANY country. Less than 0.1% of Americans will ever play a tabletop RPG.

You need to gather a group of friends and create a make-believe story, with one of you serving as a storyteller and arbiter for the rules and the rest as characters in the story. That's that. The rules depend on the system you are playing. If you are REALLY desperate you can try playing it alone and there are solo campaigns in style of "choose your own adventure" books, but that's like masturbation - fun for awhile, but you really need a second person to get the full picture.

I guess 5e D&D is not an RPG then.
Wait...

Your words give me relief, I shall now blame the veteran elitist that complain about the normies making the products they hate popular, for not making it easier to get into their games and be elitist with them
Thanks user, such simple but useful answer

People say Jack just uses you as a pawn, but how does he really do that?

Trust me, most veteran elitists really don't mind new people at the table and will gladly teach you what's what if you just ask them nicely and know how to behave. If a veteran elitist tells you that a given edition of the game sucks and proposes another edition, he probably knows what he's saying and he's not doing it out of spite just to annoy a newcomer.
It's the assholes that invade the hobby, pretend that it's theirs now and tell the elitists to fuck off that annoys them - it's just bad manners. That and newcomers that slavishly stick to the newest, most marketed game edition (5e D&D, V5) and refusing to acknowlege anything else because that would mean they have to learn new rules and they can't be bothered.

He doesn't - not really. Jack is pretty much an agent of chaos with the allegiance to himself and you are his newest trump card. He plays everyone - Camarilla, anarchs, you and tries to stir the pot as much as he can. He doesn't have a bone to pick with you like LaCroix does, but won't shed a tear if you get caught in the crossfire. And he pretty much uses the anarchs to his own goals - he couldn't care less about their "ideals". The anarchs in Last Round pretty much spill it out for you that Jack is a very apathetic anarch.

>IIRC one of the devs more or less said it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously.
Probably because it was only something minor. I think they usually want to avoid having Caine appear too much. It's also probably to avoid stuff like the theories about Caine lowering your generation and personally setting up the sarcophagus plot and all the other stuff instead of just being the cab driver.

Big religions are inherently contradictory on many levels.
He just cherrypicks different parts of the religion.
Sure, islam is more deranged and obviously evil than christianity, but it still has enough contradictions in it to cope like christians do.

At first I thought this was an American Wasteland thread

>fanboys defend a terrible boss

The biggest issue with that boss fight is that you get bonus damage for headshots on her, but it seems like the hitboxes don't work properly so getting them is really inconsistent. She actually goes down pretty quickly if you get enough headshots.

>where the fuck does it have a head?

Pretty sure Jack was just using the sarcophagus to get rid of the camarilla, sabbat and/or kuei-jin. There's a reason you never see any anarchs go after it.
I wouldn't call Jack apathetic, just patient. He knew it was only a matter of time before someone, and preferably Lacroix, would open it up looking to diablerize an immortal.

>The Secret World Legends is pretty close and very good on its own.

Pretty much everything I've seen about VtMB2 looks fucking awful, but I'm glad you still dance like a retard.

>People say Jack just uses you as a pawn, but how does he really do that?
He doesn't even tell you the sarcophagus was booby-rigged. Dude's a jerk.

>Everyone agrees it's a shit boss fight
>enter thread
>shills start defending it

It's the only important part anyways.

Attached: 1562169667409.gif (500x204, 499K)

It's still souless though.

What did he mean by this?

I guess Jack was doing it "for fun" just to see what happens when he throws the sarcophagus into the mix and spreads the rumor of antideluvian inside - probably prompted by Caine/Cabbie. His line "it happend just like YOU said" seems to suggest that.
He wasn't actively trying to get rid of LaCroix/Kuei Jin/Sabbat - it was just an icing on the cake. It is telling that his plan goes off without a hitch only in anarch/lone wolf ending. In the rest it gets thwarted. Strauss and Ming Xiao are not so stupid to fall for that. Even the CQM Sabbat ending has them destroying the sarcophagus just to be sure.
Hell, the Camarilla ending has the anarchs apocalyptically screwed. Now LaCroix is gone, the sarcophagus is locked away forever and Strauss is actually a competent prince and a Tremere to boot.

which is even worse in modern games

>but I'm glad you still dance like a retard.
People don't start circling around you to join in with the tard dance though.

They don't? Then what is the fucking point

I guess I am weird, but I find female Tremere strangely cute. I guess I'm a sucker for creepy librarians.

Nostalgia points without putting in the effort.

Malkavian has the best option for her. She flushed you down the toilet once :D

And roleplaying is the gameplay of a roleplaying game. Writing and atmosphere is essential to getting into a role. You have brain damage if you think the only thing that factors into gameplay is the shooty shooty bang bang. Nobody in their right mind picks up an RPG to ignore the story.

>Nobody in their right mind picks up an RPG to ignore the story.
>what is Skyrim

>RPG

>>what is Skyrim

One of the worst RPGs ever made? I'm not sure what point you were trying to make.

yeah I can agree with that. Holylwood and santa monica are like a scale around downtown. Both so comfy, so dark and twisted. Down town is expected to be dark, so the light spots like the empire arms hotel are bigger highlights there. And china town feels so foreign it's just great :)

But it sold a billion copies and that's what normies think when they refer to an RPG. So the notion that "players play RPG's for the story" is a shaky one. Or that's the conclusion vidya producers will come to - why should they waste money and resources on writing and good story when Skyrim is beloved by normies and earned a shitton of money?

>Nines is a cool guy who saves your life
as long as you tip the scale in his favor.

>>Nobody in their right mind picks up an RPG to ignore the story.
>>what is Skyrim
So you're saying people play Skyrim for the riveting gameplay instead?

>tfw I told her to fuck off the first time around I met her downtown, because I wanted to be a good boy.
>my haven was very cold and lonely on that playthrough.

I guess Todd Howard is spraying every retail copy in some brain-numbing happy drug, because I have not fucking idea why people love Skyrim so much. Even the "immersive gameplay" sucks compared to Morrowind, NV and Bloodlines.

there are endings like that in the original I am pretty sure I got some of them. I think either with strauss or kuei jin the sarcophagus will not be opened. With strauss you put it back into the museums basement locker. And with kueijin you drop the sarcophagus into the ocean.
Because I only play the unmodded original I am pretty sure that's in the original game, because I remember these two endings.

Attached: 1566150272574.png (419x263, 120K)

We play it for the atmosphere, sights, and erotic mods.

atmosphere and sights are actually million times better in overhauled Morrowind.
i'm with you on erotic mods, but is this really a reason to sink 200+ hours in?

>what is Skyrim
A framework for sexmods, what's your point, exactly?

>but is this really a reason to sink 200+ hours in
It'll take that long to download and set everything up, have it crash, troubleshoot it and figure out why it's crashing, figure out a fix, have it work for a while and then have it all break a different way again.

>that's what normies think when they refer to an RPG
What kind of retarded argument is that? A five year old thinks McDonalds is the pinnacle of gastronomy, you don't see the Michelin Guide giving it five stars and discussing the composition of the Big Mac at length.

Is this Grey DeLisle?

>you don't see the Michelin Guide giving it five stars and discussing the composition of the Big Mac at length.
And yet that's exactly what happened with Skyrim. Journalists were prasing it left, right and center as the best RPG this generation - completely disregarding a much superior Fallout NV for instance.
I only took Fallout 76 for people to caught up to the fact Bethesda is full of shit, because beforehand Bethesda was a sacred cow - even with Fallout 4 some were calling it the best RPG of the year, despite Witcher 3 existing.

Nope, doesn't sound like her. I guess that's the big-tidded Toreador lady.
Fuck, the game looks cool, but I am extremaly concerned about the writing, given the some statements of the writers.

I hope it's possible to use celerity in the club, whether by design or via some bug. I want to leave fucking after images while dancing like this.

You should be most concerned about the gameplay. Footage that's been released so far shows hit detection operating seemingly at random.

I dunno - you can fix the gameplay with patches if the dev is determined enough - or even player mods. You can't fix stupid writing no matter how much you tried.

Downtown > Santa Monica >> Hollywood >> Chinatown

I killed her, so I doubt it.

A mediocre open world action sandbox with RPG elements.

Everyone told you know to open it and there was no reason to believe it was an antedeluvian.

they already said they will add other clans after release as free dlc. Gangrel will most likely be the first they add. Nossies will be tough but I dont mind waiting if they do them right.

I know a lot of people here are skeptical for the new game but I am keeping hope for it. It doesnt have to be perfect gameplay wise it just has to have a good story and atmosphere.

yeah but why are they setting the game in SEATTLE
This game better fucking convince me this no-name American city has something worth doing in it

How it works is that if your humanity is low, the game gives you no choice but to open the sarcophagus - so going for a Anarch/Lone Wolf ending with humanity of 4 will always end up with you getting blown up. On the flip side if your Humanity is above 8, you don't get the option to open the sarcophagus. Cheeky devs.

I want to give this game a chance, because I like VtM lore - but the fact that it's based off of reviled V5 as well as some stupid dev comments have me worried. The gameplay demo has me even more concerned.
Although Elif is cute and I hope she's fuckable, so there is that.

>Given magic powers and accepted into a parallel paranormal world
How is it any different? As if you had to interact with normies all that much on Vampire. The masquerade is just a fucking title, and that;s coming from someone that only played it as a Nosferatu.

[x] cast magic missile

I believe they are setting it there simply because the company is based there and are able to make it feel right. Other than that Seattle definitely has its own lore already in WoD to make it interesting.

>based off of V5
no it isnt. mitsoda already deviates from the lore in the previous game and knows what bullshit to cut out. the fact that malks have dementation still as opposed to domination is already a good sign that he is ignoring the stupid shit from V5. This is not in any way meant to be a WoD V5 game, its a sequel to VTMB2.

>Paradox secures the rights to BL2 to promote and revitalize the failing V5 edition.
>the dev ignores V5 lore in it's entirety because it is so bad.
Being a V5 dev must be suffering.

Clan Quest Mod has a fun questline for a Tremere with her involved. She's your humanity made manifest. You are tripping balls during that questline by the way - you even get to talk to your Tremere sire and yourself.

from what I heard the whole process of the V5 development was a complete shit show that practically ruined the company.

First WW hired a bunch of cheap, hack writers who were too edgy for their own good, then the writers got woke, then they insulted most of their fanbase, then they virtue signalled so hardcore that they caused an international incident. Then Paradox forbid them from touching VtM ever again and dissolved them. Yeah, V5 development was a mess.

It's pretty ballsy for them to say they'll be adding more clans over time and to have so much DLC planned before the game comes out, but I really do hope it works out. It could be really cool to see if they get it right
>every DLC clan is fully realized and adds onto the main game (ie new areas or routes for Nossies, like hubs that keep them out of the kine's sight)
>influx of player activity and discussion whenever an update comes out

>if you see him X way: great
>if you see him Y way: you do you

+20 years and that's still not Jeanette but I respect your taste

>then they virtue signalled so hardcore that they caused an international incident
the fact this isn't exaggeration gets me to this day

I am actually surprised with some of the new stuff they are going to try. At first I was against starting as a thinblood but after reading more into it I actually like it.

Basically starting as a thinblood you get to pick one special power that you get to carry on as your third discipline when you pick your clan. This means you can play the same clan mutliple times with different powers so we will see what doors that will open.

Also they are making each clan have a distinct power. So clans like Toreador, brujah and venture arent just boring vanilla vampires but a little more fleshed out.

Got a link to somewhere I can read up on this? I only know the franchise from the video games.

Basically, they said Chechenya was killing homos because of vampire influence, and then the Chechens got buttmad.
en.crimerussia.com/gromkie-dela/chechens-hate-vampire-the-masquerade-game-for-sultan-ramzan-character/
Homos also got buttmad, because they were using legit massacres in Chechenya as a cute example of vampiric fuckery.
