The zero suit was one of those forbidden fruit that should have never been taken.
We knew Samus was a girl in a power suit and she would have worn a jump suit of sorts so now people would wonder what she looked like.
People would think it would be skin tight because it's the future and all that and it would emphasize all the right curves but it would only be assumption at the time.
Now that Nintendo has shown us what she looked like it has taken all the mystery out of it.
Now because they've made it they now need to keep it relevant by inserting it in games where it has no business being there.

Zero Suit was fine in Zero Mission, basically just something so Samus can be without her suit but not in her underwear.
Brawl making it a seperate form shifted the mainstream audience's image of Samus slowly to blonde bimbo instead of power armored bounty hunter.

Not a single game sold 3M and people wonder why Nintendo makes Rare do DK games instead
Animal Crossing, Splatoon and even Fire Embelm made sell better nowadays and that's a problem because it means that Nintendo won't put resources into Metroid

I think the platforms were dumb, and I prefer a bigger samus and no Zero Suit, but I think the rocket heels are pretty damn cool. They can detach easily so she doesn't have to wear them with the Zero Suit all the time, but as weapons heels would make her straight kicks more destructive, right?
They also grant her a distinct gait compared to other characters, which in turn makes her fighting style and animations more unique.
