FF XIV

Do you really need to play 200 hours to start having fun?

Sounds about right

If you hate the first 5-10 hours, quit. It does get more fun, but it's still the same genre the whole game through. It doesn't suddenly become something you aren't expecting.
If you can't tell from your first couple of hours if you'll like something, you need to get more games under your belt.

It’ll take you a few hours to get to your first dungeon where you interact with other players, for better or for worse. It’s not 200 straight hours, but there is a lot of time spent solo when doing the story portion of the game that’s not in dungeons.

But yeah, if you don’t like it after 5-10 hours, quit. It’s not really worth it unless you enjoy it. I’ve been playing for years and I can’t even force myself to log in for daily quests anymore.

The game is really handholds up till you join the scions. But honestly, if you don't enjoy exploring the world and interacting with its story it is most likely not for you.
In the end, you will just become one of these sour raid cunts that bitch and moan about everything that doesn't raise their numbers on FFlogs.

I feel like the free trail till 35 is set really nicely, it's around that time the story really kicks into gear and if you don't enjoy that aspect of it the rest is not for you as well.

Mine is all actual content time (haven't start ShB yet though), even did sight seeing and 1/4 fishing log. So, in other words all the real content in the game, no idling in town or spending hours in eRPing. Which, I know by playing and doing literally everything in game, if you have that much time your playtime you are either doing one or the other or BOTH.

you recommend this game OP?

If you like cute cat girls, MMORPGs, and Final Fantasy, Yes. If none of the above, then no.

I like mmorpgs
I am indifferent to cute cat girls
I've never played final fantasy

The hell it isn't idling in town. I've got all classes 70+ including crafters, ShB completed, half the beast tribes completed, etc etc. And I have 2700 hours on Steam. What on earth have you been doing if not idling?

then go for it, it's like the best MMORPG out atm

Very story-focused unlike others (Most if not all of it is locked behind Main-Quest progress that will unlock sidequests), I assume you are used to shitty early-games in MMOs though.

Over 25000 hours played

But I've got like 300 Rival Wings matches, almost 2000 frontlines matches, and about 800 feast/fold matches under my belt. Don't even have all my classes maxed, but all crafters/gatherers are at least capped from Stormblood and I'm working on getting them to 80.

I also play an assload of triple triad, I've got damn near 150 legendary fish, I've got almost every HW relic, and a fair amount of SB and ARR relics.

Alright i will thanks user.

>, I assume you are used to shitty early-games in MMOs though.
yea unfortunately, i don't mind story if its good and not garbage though.

do you ever turn off your pc

A common complaint about XIV is the shitty early game with barely any abilities, 1-2-3 rotations and a boring ass story until like level 40, so please don't get that user's hopes up.

Treat the entirety of A Realm Reborn and its patches (1-50) as a tutorial and introduction with some world building. They've been talking about condensing it a little bit too but that probably won't happen until in a patch or two.
Heavensward is where things get good.
Make sure to try crafting and gathering, it's very comfy and crafting in particular gets very in-depth later on, you have your own skills and rotations basically.

Meh, feels too much like wow this game, holy trinity roles tank/heal/dps

I play city of heroes now that it was relaunched on private servers. No matter of group comp, you will still steamroll, but in a bit different style ofc.

and I got 3 max levels in FFXIV, but cba with all that side stuff.

holy trinity is most mmorpgs to be fair

yup, thats why can't play em anymore. even city of heroes barely.

I think i just got old.. I get tired even after eating zzz

It takes roughly 70-100 hrs to get to heavensward content when the story starts getting good. If you can get there the rest of the expansions are enjoyable.

idling in Limsa shouldn't count

Idling.

Afraid people will forget you exist if they can't see your avatar? Reeks of insecurity.

even if 50% of that number spent being AFK that's still an absurd amount of playtime to put into one fucking game.
